Black screen on ipad

I have a first series ipad that was working fine earlier today. Placed on charger and went back to find the ipad blank with a black screen. Tried resetting, turning power on and off, hard reset and even restored on my mac. The mac picks the ipad up and syncs no problem. No idea what to try now. Booked an appointment with genius bar but would love any advice in th meantme. The ipad is updated with current IOS.

I just wanted to update you on what happened with my iPad 1. I took the iPad to a local authorized dealer thinking that my iPad was out of warranty. They told me they don't really fix the original iPad any more but to do it would cost $250. For that price I would put it towards a new iPad. I then called apple and asked them for advise. They also thought there was a problem with the backlight. When your son dropped your iPad he may have damaged or dislodged the backlight. Everything works on the iPad but you can't see anything. There are places online where you can send your iPad but for the cost I would just get a new one. The initial fee to jus look at it is $75-100. Fortunately for me I was still under my extended warranty and was able to have mine replaced. This is one time I was very happy to have spent the extra mo eh on the extended warranty plan. Is there a way to fix the white or black screen on Ipad 4th Gen?

Ive tried to reset it and restore to factory settings but this does not work. The screen was white until I restored to factory settings and now it's black when it starts up. Ive also let it die and tried to charge and power it on again but no go. It's an Ipad Black 32GB 4th Gen. I will post a link to one of the pictures I had of it below. Video black screen on iPad simple solution

I clicked on my video to play and suddenly had a black screen. I searched forums and did the reset as instructed and the search for your videos and all that stuff but the same problem occurred over and over again. After the third time, I figured it's a program issue since everything else was working. I downloaded a video player for free. Not only did I solve my problem, now I can put videos in my iPad without converting them since it can play several formats. I posted this so other people experiencing or about to experience the same problem won't go to the hassle that I went through. Plus when you add videos on your IPad, you don't have to waste your time converting them. I got flex player but I think there are other programs that play different formats, too.

Yeah. The ipad only can play certain formats. Usually just the most popular used. You would have to convert them if they are a different format to play under VIDEOS. The formats are in the TECH SPECS when you select the ipad on the support page. Or you can download an app(like what you did) easier way.

How to fix black screen on iPad after restoring from 4.2.1 to 4.3.3

recently i just restore my ipad from 4.2.1 to 4.3.3, suddenly it's just hang up on black screen (DFU mode i guess).
I've tried pressing home and off button for 10 sec and bla..bla....but doesn't work at all...
Googling to find another way such as use TU and others third party software..but still not bloody working at all...
After few troubleshoot done, thing goes worse and worse...
now my iTunes didn't detect my iPad at all.
Can anyone help me?PLEASEEEEE!!!!!!

I have recently upgraded the software on my iPad second generation and now it's totally unresponsive . There is a black screen showing a lead needing to be connected to iTunes. I have tried a reset but nothing and it won't switch off or on. Any suggestions please?

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary.

Black screen on ipad 2 - slight color semicircles around the edges

The screen is black but you can see a difference between the on/off thing. I have tried hitting it several times (though possibly too lightly I'm not sure I just don't want to hurt it more than necessary). I dropped it this morning onto a hard wood floor. It probably fell 2 and a half feet. I wasn't watching so I don't know what side it fell on. I can still work the ipad without seeing for the most part - I was able to turn the screen brightness up all the way and turn on my music and switch songs. I can see tiny semicircles of pale red and yellow on the edges of the screen. I'm not sure what to do. Help D:

Some iPad users have been able to revive their dropped iPad. Turn the iPad over and give it a HARD SLAP on the back. May take several slaps.

Black screen on iPad mini-will this work??

Like many posters, I have been trying to solve the inability of my iPad mini 32gb wifi to just start on command and stay working. The screen goes black then the apple appears, pushing buttons has not helped; there is no pattern in the way it stops functioning. I have done a compete recovery and restore to both iTunes and iCloud, removed some potential offending app's, still get the random blackout. Has anyone tried doing just the "Erase all content and settings" without restoring all optional app's, then trying all functions? If there are no optional app's on the iPad and it still does the random blackout, then it's the iPad or the iOS, or both. Has anyone tried this??

Well, I pulled the pin on this grenade and it blew up, with a fizzle. Wiped everything clean, went into recovery mode and restored nothing. The iPad now has only the pre-packaged app's but still quits randomly, sometimes when entering the pass code or even when swiping the bar. It stays on for a few minutes, a few seconds or over an hour; all the while plugged into the power source. So I guess my next call is to the apple store. I'll let y'all know what happens. bob.c

Facetime, iphone 4 to ipad 2 black screen on ipad

Just got my new ipad 2 and am trying out facetime. I don't have any problems calling from the ipad 2 to the iphone 4, but when i get a call from an iphone 4 and receive it on the ipad 2 i don't see the picture of who is calling me but they can see me just fine. I've tried this one two seperate iphone 4s, one on the same wifi network and the other on a seperate wifi network. Any ideas?

You're right and my apologies. I have a bad cold today and am kind of floating in a fog. I don't know what would stop you from receiving the image of the person calling from an incoming facetime call. Are you sure that both iPhone 4's who called you were in Wifi mode at the time of the call? Seems unlikely, but if they weren't on Wifi, you would not see their image.......

My ipad 4 got in black screen, Itunes still recognize but throw me an error 4005 when i want to restore.

Yesterday i took a photo and when I wanted to see it my ipad is restarted. took too long to turn on and turn off once was.
I've tried many ways to change the lightning cable, pc change, restoring the apple mobile device usb, but itunes still throwing me the error 4005.
I have proven with other software like redsnow but mark me the error as it does not support ios 7.1.2.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Restart your mobile device.

I have a iPad 2bought last week. I am now in Mexico took great pictures at app camera. Then all of a sudden after 90pictures it will not open up for me to take pictures. When I click on it I only have a black screen. I put all my pictures in an album.

Try resetting your device. Hold down the sleep and home keys, ignoring the red power down slider, and release the buttons when you see hte silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
You won't lose any data, it's juat the apple equivalent of 'control/alt/delete' and often clears up glitches

When i went onto my iPad this morning it was completely fine and working but once i took it to college with me the battery had ran out, so later on tonight i plugged my charger in and left it charging for about half an hour, when i went to go back up onto it was just a black screen and every so often when i pressed the power button it would flash blue for a split second then be blacked out again...
So i had a look on this community to see if there was any solutions that could help and i found a case similar to mine so i tried to reset in hopes that it worked but it never did. I know that the iPad itself is working as i managed to unlock my iPad when putting in my passcode and i was able to get notification through as well, but after the reset i saw the apple logo appeared and it flashed a few times and i could see the setup on the screen to set it up as a new iPad.
I don't know how or why the screen will not work properly, so any help would be great

Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
