Black Screen only screen saver

I've come to use my Apple TV2, after a little while.  It starts up, the Apple logo appears, but then nothing.... just a black screen.  If I leave it eventually the screen saver will appear, but nothing else.
I've tried the menu/down button reset and unplugged it numerous times.
I've also discconected it and plugged the USB into my Macbook and started iTunes, but iTunes never sees it?
Any clues?
Regards
Mike

Sorry afraid the news is not good.  If you plugged it into your computer and iTunes could not see it then it is probalbly beyond saving.  You did have the power cord plugged in to ATV when attached via USB right?  Is there another TV you can try connecting it to?

I dropped my Iphone 5 which resulted in it shattering and the screen was still on but it was black with only a white line through it so I couldnt access the phone however I switched over to my Droid and now I cannot send or receive messages and I cant turn off imessage because I cant see anything on the screen.  Help?

Then the bottom of the support document states that if you do not have access to the device (which unfortunately because of the screen issue you do not) to contact Apple Care. That is what you need to do.

  • Only screen saver appears when connected to HDTV

Only screen saver appears when connected to HDTV?

Check the Energy Saver and Screen Saver settings, sounds like you have Energy Saver kicking-in before Screen Saver.

  • When i press the on/off my ipod show me the lock screen only half second and goes black.

When i press the on/off my ipod show me the lock screen only half second and goes black.
I try again and works normally. Sometimes do that.
    What Happens?

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing will belost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

No I think the problem is more basic than that...he's trying to use an ATi card and an Nvidia card simultaneously.  Something that I don't think will work.
It also dependent on what drivers he is trying to use, as the (new) Nvidia proprietary driver only supports GeForce4 series chips and up...and the OP has an even older card than that.  The legacy Nvidia-96.xx driver does support his chipset, but 96.xx does not work with Xorg1.8 last I knew. see: http://www.archlinux.org/news/502/
Twinview does not exist in the Nouveau drivers, so one has to use xrandr: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nouveau

There is no Apple here, this is a user to user forum.  When you said you restored, then you restore as NEW?
If you restored as New and still the problem persiist, then it time to take a trip to the Apple store.

  • [SOLVED] Gnome 2.30 logout = black screen only

Are any of the rest of you that don't run a display manager getting a black screen only after logging out from version 2.30 of Gnome that just hit the repos?
This means no command line, no shutdown, no startx, or anything other than blackness. I have to reboot just to reach a command line again, then I can startx, or shutdown. Things worked fine before this, so I'm guessing it's a bug with one of the new packages.
If someone can confirm, I'll file a bug report.
    Thanks.

  • Black Screen, only power works

Hi guys, my notebook (HP G62 b19sl) doesn't work anymore. I explain better the problem right now.
When I press Power Button the screen remains black and only the fans runs. Only Power LED and Wi-Fi LED are ON.
I can't do anything if I press buttons. CAPS LOCK's LED it's not ON.
I brought it to a Computer Expert. Maybe he resets BIOS and Notebook was operative but when i pulled down the screen to interrupt my work, computer showed black screen again when i pulled up the screen to continue my work.
The combination "Windows+B" without battery, doesn't work to reset BIOS.
I hope someone could help me.
    Thank you

  • Black and White Screen

My Iphone 4 has been shutting down to a black dos like screen with White letters.

    boot version: i Bott-1537.4.18
    panic: we are hanging here...
This has been going on since I've tried to upgrade OS6.  It would go to this black screen but eventually come back on with a drained battery.
ITunes error showed to restore phone back to factory settings so I did but it only worked for 4 days.  Now it's been down for at least 15 hours.
Any one see this issue before?

Thank you.  There is not an apple store near by.  I need my phone for work.  My warranty has expired and 13 month into contract is too early for the 18 month early upgrade.  I reset the device and plugged it in to Itunes and restored it again.  The part that confuses me and perhaps why i didn't work last time is...Restore to new phone or Restore to my iphone back up so I always choose my phone but perhaps this doesn't bring it back to factory settings.  I just don't want to loose my contacts.  It is working now but it's probably just a matter of time before it the black and white screen come back up.  I think it;s a system update issue.  I'm going to call Apple.

  • Gray/black and white screen

can any one help me to fix this problem:
My monitor is displaying a black.white/gray screen, and I'm not really able to read the buttons or other things on the screen to an extent, and I don't really know the cause or the solution.

The monitor adapter can only hook up the five important signals one way, or your screen would have color substitutions, or the picture would roll or tear. The five signals are:
    Red (intensity)
    Green (intensity)
    Blue (intensity)
Horizontal Sync (start/end row of dots)
    Vertical Sync (start/end screen)
The rest of the signals manipulated by the adapters send a code that may restrict the resolutions available, but not the colors and not black & white vs color.
I have seen this problem in Blue & White G3s I updated to 10.3 from 9.2. I had purchased off-brand ATI PCI cards for second displays on these Macs, but not ones as modern as those that shipped in the Blue & White G3. They worked fine in OS 9. But then I did the update to OS X 10.3.
Those black & white screens sure are ugly. And unless you have seen the Monitors Preference pane so many times you can see it in your sleep, it is very difficult to change the settings. When I replaced the display cards with genuine cards pulled from Blue & White G3s, the problem cleared immediately.

  • My lock screen only stays on on for a millisecond on start up ipad air is this usual

my lock screen only stays on on for a millisecond on start up ipad air is this usual.

Thanks for the replies.  I like to power down most of the time to save battery so if it's gonna be normal for me not to be able to get to the slider screen before it goes into sleep I guess  I will have to accept it.  However I'm sure I remember rightly that the first few times I used it after set up it used to stay on screen for several seconds to allow me to slide the button over.  Now it never does and to be honest I would expect it to wait after all you don't boot up your PC and then it immediately go into sleep mode unless something was wrong.  I thought most things when powered on would let you sign in or whatever before "going to sleep".
Just concerned to do a reset in case the darned thing does erase stuff which would seriously tee me off.  Appreciate the feedback guys.

  • Visible (screen only) is not working

    Hello everybody:
I've been experiencing some problems whenever I try to put an object with the "Visible (Screen Only)" presence property. The issue comes whenever I print the form: it always show all the objects. That happens to me when I use forms imported from a previously scanned document (importing the documents as an image), but not with new ones.
I'm using LiveCycle Es2 and I changed the program properties in order to make the form compatible with 8.1 or later versions. Niall O'Donovan suggested me to check if there was any warning related with the version, but there is no one.
Does anybody know anything about this?
    Thanks for your time!
    Regards,
    Javier Maíllo

    Hi Javier,
I had a chance to look at this now and I think the issue may be the fact that the form was created by importing an existing Word/PDF document. Depending on how you do this, the form may only be saved as a Static PDF form and certain dynamic functionality (like Visible Screen Only) will not be available.
I don't think you will get the previous advice of prePrint/postPrint script to work either (changing the presence of the objects), as this would require the form to be saved as a Dynamic XML Form in the save as dialog.
