Black screen says no operating system

i have a MacBook pro set up with dual operating systems with bootcamp i was stuck on the windows operating system now all that is coming up is a black screen that says missing operating system when i turn it on. i am no computer whiz so im going to need a step by step solution and for you to talk to me like that computer illiterate idiot i am

Shutdown your MBP, if necessary by holding the on/off button until it is shut down.
Start up while holding the Alt(Option) key.
Then you will see the available startup disks, maybe just one.
Start from OSX because your bootcamp installation obviously failed.
After you have started up,, go to the System Preferences <startup disk> and click the OSX disk as your startup disk (do NOT use "Tarrget Disk Mode"), leave the System Prefences.
Reinstall the Bootcamp Partition.

  • Black Screen Appear during Operating System normal usage

    Hi!
I have a Compaq Presario CQ50-102LA, the problem that I have is that when I try to use the operating sytem a black screen appears(sometimes the sreen is blue or red or green)
I thought that the problem was with my Operating System, but I tried installing Ubuntu, Win Xp and Win7 and the problems persists..
I made the hard disk and memory tests from the BIOS and it was OK.
I also tried disconnecting the wireless card and the CD/DVD drive bit didn't work...
I don't know what else to do.. I'll really appreciate if you could help me!!
    Thanks

    Follow up on previous post..
If it says that there is no hard drive detected, it means that it cannot find any hard drive connected on the computer to install the OS to.
So first, test your Hard drive if it is detected in SetUp or BIOS, by tapping F10 on boot up. You'll have a HD test utility under diagnostic.
If it shows that "No IDE device found"
Reseat the HD, check this website to know how to reseat your HD
        http://h20181.www2.hp.com/plmcontent/NACSC/SML/
If it shows in the test that its detectecting the HD and doing the HD test. Try different installation disk, or might need the original Recovery Disk for the notebook.

  • Please tell me how you got the computer to reboot again once it was on the black screen saying "setup is inspecting your hardware configuration?"

    Hi,
use the power-switch on the left backside of your iMac to turn your Mac off.
Use it again to restart your Mac and hold down the Alt/Option-button to get to the Boot Selection screen.
    Choose OSX.
Once in OSX go to System Preferences - Startup Volume and reset it to use OSX as the default.
Am I right assuming that you try to install Windows XP on a new (2011) iMac ?
If so, XP is no longer supported by Apple for use/install With BootCamp.
But there are some success stories when using a XP with SP3.

It needs to be restored by someone. You can do it, and set it up as a new phone, or the buyer can do it.

  • Since installing maverick, my c cleaner program says my operating system is not supported

Installed Maverick.  My cleasning program says my operating system is not supported.

    Hello,
The CCleaner Program form Priform does not support OSX Mavericks.
I personally feel that you do not need a 3RD party cleaning software on your apple computer, due to the fact that the computer performs these tasks automatically.

Yes 10.8.2 is the latest version of Mountain Lion. 10.7 was Lion and 10.6 was Snow Leopard.

  • While clicking on a page, like Facebook, or a web page, Firefox will be unresponsive and then go to a black screen saying Firefox Not Responding.

When I am on Facebook, if I click on the link to view "Most Recent" or if I am clicking on another link, Firefox will first freeze and then will go to a black screen. At the top of the screen in the orange bar it says: Firefox,-Not Responding and the name of the app (Facebook), for example next to it. This black screen will stay that way for approx. 20 seconds then will go back to the page.

Hi Mick. Thanks for your response. Is there anything I can do to resolve the problem. I am ok on computers but not really tech savvy. I have Firefox 9.0.1 with Windows Vista Home Premium, 64 bit. Thank you for any additional help you can give me.

  • Installation CD says my operating system does not support

I just got a used HP pavillion entertainment PC. I put my installation CD for my F4180 printer in and it tells me my operating system is not compatible or something like that. Bottom line I can't use my printer.  Are there new drivers ? I really hope there is a solution. I had it installed on my other laptop, which was caught up in the middle of an altercation. It was replaced with this one. I never thought I'd be saying I miss Vista.

Would that be the same link I posted above?

  • R9 280x TF GAMING: Sporadic black screen on boot and system resume

Link to my full system specs
ASRock Z97M OC Formula (running latest BIOS version)
    Acer B296CL Monitor over DisplayPort
    MSI R9 280x 3GB TF GAMING, vBIOS 015.042.000.000.003435, S/N 602-V277-250B1406048461
AMD Catalyst Omega Driver: 14.501.1003.0 WHQL (latest non-beta driver)
When booting my computer in UEFI mode, occasionally, my monitor does not wake from sleep and the screen remains black until Windows takes over and the login screen displays. This seems to usually occur after the computer has been powered off for more than 10 minutes. Sometimes this never happens, the screen remains black the whole time, and I need to hard reset. Sometimes it boots fine.
This black screen / no signal issue also occurs far more frequently when attempting to resume from sleep. I strike a key on the keyboard or hit the power button while the computer is in sleep mode, the computer wakes up, but the monitor never turns on. This forces me to either hard shutdown or reset in order to restore graphics.
In addition, I have a Razer keyboard that shuts off its backlight when the display is turned off, and it remains off when this problem occurs. This likely means that there is a problem with the card, drivers, or something else, rather than cabling. I might just RMA if we don't get anywhere here.
Perhaps a good first step would be ensuring that my card is flashed with the latest vBIOS. Can you send a link to that?
I'm also wondering if ULPS might be interfering, even though I am not in a CrossFireX setup.
Other than this MAJOR issue, the card works fine when playing 3D games. Though, I had major issues with video artifacts when playing 2D games or doing anything else simple (web browsing, moving windows) because of the absolutely terrible decision to underclock the past couple generations of AMD cards so much that the GPU can't function. I solved this by modifying an OverDrive profile to raise the idle clock to 850 MHz, but not overclocking at all.
    Thank you.
Meta discussion for the mods (feel free to PM me if you would like to discuss this further, in order to keep the discussion here on topic): sorry for not immediately opening up another forum topic when commenting on this issue. Every single other community that I've been a part of prefers to keep users with the same problem on the same thread. In my experience, mods yell at people for opening up duplicate bug reports and duplicate issues far more than they ask people to fragment information across multiple threads, therefore making it difficult to consolidate information.

It could be a mobo issue, but all of the quirks seem to point to the card.
I do not recall if I tested the card in another PC, but I no longer have a second desktop to test with.
I do think I tested an NVIDIA card on a separate Windows install with this build though. No issues there if my memory serves correctly. I've been troubleshooting this issue for months, and I'm becoming tired of this stubborn problem, so the attempts at problem-solving are becoming blurred.
    vBIOS is attached.

  • Firefox says my operating system doesn't support upgrade. I have MAC OS X 10.5.6

When I tried to download the latest Firefox version, a message said that my operating system doesn't support the upgrade. But the information on download page says MAC OS X 10.5 or better is okay. My system is MAC OS X 10.5.6

Do you have a Intel processor or a PowerPC processor as your user agent suggests and Mach-O would indicate an even older OS X version than 10.5 (possibly OS X 9).

  • Installed 3D Desktop Aquarium screen saver several operating systems ago. It was not designed to operate with the intel setup so I uninstalled it. Problem is that the sound track remains and I don't know how to get rid of it.

Have an iMac with Lion OS. Installed 3D Desktop Aquarium screensaver a couple of operating systems ago. When I "upgraded" to Snow Leopard the screen saver would no longer work so I (thought) uninstalled it. The fish are gone , but the sound is still there drowning out everything else. How can I get rid of this?

    How did you remove it?
Does it have a Pref Pane in System Preferences?

  • I am unable to download the programs onto my laptop. I keep getting a message that says the operating system no longer supports the programs.

I need help, i am not sure what operating system needs to be installed. I have a mac and the operating system is up to date.

Creative Cloud programs are not spec'd to work with Mac OS X 10.6.8.  You would have to upgrade to at least version 10.7.  You should check the system requirements for all of the programs you wish to install to see what the minimum is that would cover all of them.  Just Google "InDesign system requirements" to find them for InDesign, and repeat for the other programs using their names instead of InDesign.

  • Soon after start up, black screen saying "You must shut down"

Too often, soon after start up, I get a black screen with the stating that I must shut down the machine. Also, and perhaps related, the fan will rev up more than seems needed. I believe I saw new of a download to fix the above type problems with mac laptops, but I am having it with my imac desktop. Any suggestions?

When trying to troubleshoot problems, disconnect all external devices except your monitor, kbd & mouse. Do you experience the same problems?
