Black screen - Touchsmart problem

I have one Touchsmart 310-1120la the screen remains black powered up, but I hear as booted normally,my operating system is windows 8.
I need a quick solution, thanks.

N770 TF 2GD5/OC Gaming black screen blinking problem

i upgraded my PC 4 days ago with a MSI N770 TF 2GD5/OC Gaming graphic card. I installed the newest graphic drivers. Clean install and without nVidia Experience. My problem is black screen blinking when i am playing or watching. Screen turns to black for 1-5 seconds like monitor lost its signal. It happening when i click to fullscreen button. No matter if its in youtube or windows. It happening every time. It does the same when i am playing. Big lag and then black screen blinking for 10 sec. Sometimes more sometimes less than 10 sec. I used Google and i am not the only one, who have this problem. Some people says, that GPU BIOS flash helped but in MSI website is only one BIOS and i dont know if its newer than mine or not. S/N of my card is 602-V282-380B1404100829 (if it helps) and my current bios is here h t t p ://leteckaposta.cz/186979270 (just click on the GK104.rom in the middle). I think i tried almost everything. Registry clean, anti malware and spyware, drivers re-install, turn W Aero Off, UAC off and other worthless tips how to fix this issue. I monitored my PC with many temperature software and i am 100% sure, that overheating isnt the problem. So could you please check if the MSI Bios is newer than mine or tell me what to do to fix this irritating problem?

Black Screen render problem

When I try render it is a black screen then makes a sheep noise PLEASE HELP I'm using a macbook air

The sound you are hearing, is the sheep having too much grass.
This is a general render error. If you want more information on what is causing this crash, you should check your render error logs.
You can find where they are stored in the Render Settings --> Log menu.
That being said, it is usually three things that cause this. Two common, one uncommon.
The biggest culprit is a plugin which is rendering badly.
The second, is a codec which is not encoding properly.
The far third, is that your RAM is dumping.
If you want to post those, maybe we can take a look and talk you through it, but without knowing more about what's going on, we can't just tell you what is causing the problem.

Black Screen = Inverter problems and more

I have a 17" MBP and recently had my display go totally black on me on a plane (which i see has happened to a bunch of other people here)
Took it in and the repair guy won't send it to apple on my warranty because of an unrelated dent in the corner of the computer, which he says apple will claim accidental damage on.
The dent occurred 8 months ago, and my display broke down 2 days ago. All apple could offer me was to get a second opinion, and if the dent is far enough away from the inverter, MAYBE they'll repair it.
Any thoughts on how to proceed here? I'm getting pretty frustrated.

Oh, sorry, didn't get that. That monitor was actually called the 22" Cinema, not 21". Apple had a 21" CRT but I think that was called a Studio Display, so I got confused.
So sometimes it works correctly at 1600 x 1024 under Windows (Bootcamp) and sometimes it doesn't? Is that correct? Those times when it is giving a black screen, have you considered trying to establish a VNC connection to the mini from another computer on the network? You might find that the wrong resolution is being sent to the ACD those times when you get a black screen. Though that doesn't really tell you why it's happening, it's a starting point.

Toshiba with black screen, similiar problem?

Hello forum, hope to hear from someone for tech advice. I have a Toshiba model 32av52r flat screen TV. It worked fine, but we went away for awhile and when we came back it no longer works. I am ok and confident with working on things like this. The TV has a SOLID green light on the bottom front. No picture or menu signs. I live where there are occasional power outages so I believed this may have been a problem. I searched via web and some experts believe the power board may have failed. I order on via ebay and replaced. I still get only a green light on the bottom. I have hooked up to a satellite receiver (I use a video cord and the three cords ((red/white yellow)), but am not sure I have those hooked up right.....but I still would think I would get a 'no signal' display or something. I am hoping for some simple checks I can do....is there a reset button? check for power/ohms at certain points?
It seems that others have had this, and the solution is inserting USB in to side??? I assume one would would have to download something.....? Thanks

turn off the tv then unplug the power cable,disconnect all the devices that is connected after that press the power button for about 10 sec.
plug in the power cord then turn on tv.if still no display,try to press the menu button,if menu button is not showing it is a possible lcd screen failure or system board

Ipad black Screen display problem?

Having a problem today. My iPad fell off my desk (with its case on) and when I picked it up & tried to unlock it i was completely black. I connected it to itunes and did a reset but it's still black it actually talks now and any kind of display or the apple logo appears very briefly (like a second or less) but disappears ?

You could always try the general steps of restarting, resetting, and then trying to restore but Im thinking that this is most likely a hardware issue so you'd be better off visiting an Apple Store first to see what a Genius rep thinks it could be.

Black screen - Leopard problem?

I woke up this morning to discover that the backlight on my iMac G4 (USB 2.0) running Leopard wouldn't come on. I figured it was just a random hardware failure, probably of the inverter board, but then a friend with the same model iMac called me to say her system did the exact same thing today as well. It's probably just coincidence, but Leopard is known to have some graphics driver problems caused by the latest updates. I'm wondering if a lot of other iMac G4 owners have seen the same failure recently since upgrading to 10.5.2 and Leopard Graphics Update 1.0.

Does anything come on?
Have you ever changed the PRAM battery?
I would check it first. When mine went, I had no response from my Mac at all; just a light on my power button; absolutely no boot at all.
Check out things in Texas Mac Man's Battery, PRAM, PMU tutorial on the subject. His tutorial is a little dated (don't believe it even mentions G5's) but the info in it, except SMU not being included, still applies.Cheers! DALE

MSI GX623 black screen, Afterburner and that old story

Hello. So maybe someone will know the cure for my problem. I have an MSI GX623 gaming laptop, i have it for like 3 years, i dont remember. So when i bought it I started playing games with it (because it's a GAMING laptop :D). After some time I've started to have black screen/crash problems. So because I had warranty, I gave the laptop for repairs. As I remember, they've changed GPU and cooling system. I took it back from them, hoped that the problem was in the past, but that same day I played GTA 4 and there it is again. All this was like 2 years ago. Until this day I used MSI afterburner and it helped, but sometimes the problem used to show up again, so I used to leave pc on sleep mode and it helped. Right now, I'm using a cooling pad, the afterburner for some time, like half a year. It was like a month until yesterday it all started again. Everything was fine, i turned my laptop, open LoL to play, started the match and bammm, black screen. I thought, ok, not the first time, lets just restart the laptop, open afterburner and it will be ok. Not so fast, as much as I wanted it to be ok, all day I couldn't play anything, not nba 2k14 not lol (these are the 2 games I played for like half year). Well all day I had to watch Sopranos and Prison break, no lol or nba :/ I left it on sleep mode overnight and today it's good as new, played lol, nba, it's all cool, but after some time ( the laptop wasn't shuted down for no time), a short, like few hour brake without games, wanted to play lol and there it is again. I don't know what's wrong, the temperatures are fine, more like fine, yesterday i cleaned the inside of the laptop from dust. Everything is perfect, but it's still there. I've updated afterburner, but no help. Maybe there is some new solutions to this problem without afterburner? Thank you BTW, I use windows 7, but these days it's like xp, everyone uses them D: thx for the help )

TouchSmart 320-1050 Win7 Pro After Windows update, login results in a black screen + white cursor

After some Microsoft automatic upgrades were done om my HP TouchSmart 320-1050 this week, when I logged in after the reboot, all I got was a blank (black) screen and a white arrow cursor, which worked fine -but there was nothing -no video output on the screen. Even a <CTL><ALT><DEL> did not bring anything up on the screen and I had to force the system down with a hard power down. I tried with user logins and Administrator login but the behaviour was the same.
I could boot and get a picture in SAFE mode but not with a normal boot and login. There were NO ERRORS in the Windows event logs that seemed to shed any light on the issue.
The system was shipped with Windows 7 Home Premium however I upgraded to Windows 7 Pro so I could join my domain.
I couldn't diagnose the problem -with nothing showing on my screen- so last night I check what updates were installed to see about de-installing them from Safe mode.
After de-installing the most recent Microsoft HotFix (KB2679255) and rebooting .... POOF! I had my desktop displayed again after I logged in.
I don't know what piece of software was interacting with this HotFix - but thought I should post the issue, just in case someone else encountered the problem... or someone in HP Support wants to investigate ... (Let me know and I'll supply what info I can.)

I grasp that you are having an issue with your display.
You stated that you upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 when this occurred. When I checked the specifications for your notebook, it came with Windows 8.1.

Did you mean you updated Windows 8.1 or have you installed a different Operating System then what came on the notebook?

My iMac 8.1 was slowing down and had permissions problems. I backed everything up, and then re-installed. Now all I get is a black screen. Power+D gives me a hardware error message: HDD-1336. Help!

My iMac 8.1 (10.6.8 ) was slowing down and had recurrent permissions problems, mostly with Java. I backed everything up, and then re-installed from time machine. Now all I get is a black screen which says I need to reboot. Power+D gives me a hardware error message: 4 MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1336 or HDD-1327. When I reboot from the OSX CD and start disc utilities everything checks out OK. When I reload 10.5.2 from the OSX CD everything seems to work OK and no more permissions problems. But then I loose all my email and safari stuff. Anyone have any ideas short of going back to my old PC?

No unfortunatley it's too old, you are referring to Target Display Mode which became avialble in 2009, your 2008 needs to have the HD replaced. I'd still do that if everything else is OK or you can simply buy a new MM and display or even a new iMac or an Apple refurbished iMac to save money.

How to How to install ATI Radeon HD2600 driver on bootcamp 3.0 windows 7 partition w/black screen problem

Ok....so i've posted this question in a different way, and i gotten several "scratch the surface" answers from people just saying to install "Ati catalyst", or insert the os x dvd and run set up.exe, and update to boot camp 3.1 or 3.2...while these all seem like great suggestions, I am finding myself needing more specific direction or "hand holding" so to speak.....here is the MAIN problem...
The Background/history
I used boot camp (3.0, and i found updates for 3.1 for imac and for windows, but can't find for mac pro, AND they all are ".exe" files which run on windows..which as you'll see is the big part of my problem...So I recently updated my mac pro (with the ATI Radeon HD2600 graphic PCIe card with 10.6.7 from 10.5.8. I created a single partitioned drive to install windows 7 professional 64 bit. The download software function didn't work (Thanks, APPLE for that poor level of support) so have to select the option that i have already downloaded, or have other media with the drivers already on it....i restarted with the windows 7 disk in....

So the installation of windows 7 seemed to go flawlessly, was able to use my existing 23" hd apple cinema display (so somehow it has drivers that work with the graphics card, or maybe the motherboard's on board video components) and i select english, and install now, custom, blah, blah, blah...installation causes a few reboots, then restarts ultimately back in os x since that is the default boot os i use on this desk top and have to do the "opt" button to select booting in windows....so when i try restarting in windows, now using the actual boot drive on which i am installing it, it ran through another reboot or two, but then after that, my display goes black.... in the communities, the solution sounds super simple... "go download the ATI catalyst for the black screen problem....windows 7 doesn't have device drivers that work with the ATI radeon hd2600...no problem, just go download and install...."
The problem, re-emphasized : I cannot even finish the install for windows, because of this driver problem....i cannot see anything....I have tried to reboot in safe mode, and that then seems to invoke whatever basic drivers that do work, likely through the motherboards onboard video vs the actual graphic card, and the screen works and says that it's wanting to complete the installation, so i'm thinking awesome this is gonna work....and then.. "windows installation was not completed and cannot be completed in SAFE MODE, need to restart, blah, blah, blah" pops up...and forces reboot...so Safe Mode allows me to see, but won't allow me to finish the install of windows 7...and without completing the install i can't run (ranther I DONT KNOW HOW TO) any of the various .exe files everyone is telling me are the solutions to my problem...like update 3.1 and 3.2 bootcamp...they're all .exe files? not sure why, because bootcamp runs in 10.6.7 i thought, but whatever...it needs running Windows to execute...then the ATI radeon hd2600 driver for windows 7 that i downloaded from the site has an installation program that is an .exe file, which needs windows to run... Does this make sense, why i can't just use these fixes, that seem to be the only fixes out there....so can someone school me step by step here (not just the highlights) of how to update bootcamp, and how to install the ati radeon driver without having been able to complete the windows 7 installation because the monitor goes and stays black????
This is so very frustrating for the record...and any substantial help "not just go download this..." would be immensely appreciated.
Some other things i've been told to try that i've tried and nothing seems to happen as i'm told it will....
---I've been told to install the osx dvd and run "setup.exe" - AGAIN...it's an exe file...and 2 - when i put in the os x file it just wants to re install 10.6...so need more help if this is even a real solution to understand how to make it work...
---I've been told to update boot camp to 3.1 and/or 3.2 from 3.0, using Apple Software Update....Well, my software update is saying everything is up to date and there is nothing new to download at all, and when i reverify the bootcamp version it is still only 3.0.2...and again downloading the updates from www.apple.com/support/ for 3.1 and 3.2...all of those are .exe files...need windows to run them...again, refer to the problem described in detail above...

hey Hatter, thanks so much for getting back...so just to be super clear...is there no way to install the drivers using an exe file given my current state? no way to do it with command prompt or something? if can make work with existing card, i'd prefer it...now when you say it's 'toast' how do you mean? it works well with the os x partitions and always has...so i'm not sure i follow, just want to be clear...
Now to your point of starting with only the one drive installed...so i would put that bootcamp drive in bay 1 and disconnect the rest...i'm not totally sure what you're suggesting the effect should be of doing this? just that i'm just installing windows without the bootcamp deal...but if windows 7 doesn't support the ati radeon hd2600, it still will go black screen no? or you're saying it will run video through the motherboard if it's the only bootdrive, and will run all the way through the windows install without trying to switch over to the hd2600? (slrry flr these questions..just really want to make sure i understand what you're telling me..thanks so much for your patience and help by the way...it's very greatly appreciated...your support is priceless!
So now, assuming none of the above is possible...referring now to the ati 5770 that you referred to...you mention it works with 10.6 well, and that windows 7 supports it ...2 questions on that
1) Windows 7 supports" meaning, out of the box windows 7 supports it? or will i have to install drivers still through some update, because again, if that's how i have to do it, then won't work, cuz can't start windows to see anything to install any drivers or run any thing at all...so it would have to just work with initial installation.
2)hardware wise for my Mac Pro 3,1...intel dual quad core xeon, blah blah....will this card work? it's a PCIe and should fit on my board no prob, etc?

Screen problems - black screen and lock-up (plus HDMI issues)

Hi, I'm not sure if these are related to the same fundamental issue, but they are both serious problems that need resolution.
I have a new mid-2012 MBPretina. I am on all the latest updates (10.8.2).
The first problem is the most recent, and the most serious problem. Since I updated the Java a couple of days ago I've been experiencing random black screens and lock-ups. Essentially, what happens is that sometimes when I perform an action (opening an app, clicking a link on a webpage, performing other kinds of in-app actions, etc.) the computer screen will go black. About half the time I can, through my own memory, try keyboard combinations to quit or force quit the most recently used app (the one where the action was just performed), and I will get some glimpse of the underlying apps, while the menubar and other areas will remain black until I move a window on top of the black space. Sometimes no key combinations work and I am forced to perform a hard restart with the power button. This is a serious issue, obviously, since I will lose current work/progress in my apps. I'm not sure if this is because of the new Java update, or has to do with something else, but it started happening shortly thereafter, over the last 2 days. I work most of my waking day on my laptop, and this "black screen of death" has happened about 5 or 6 times a day.
The second problem I have been experiencing since I starting using my MBPr with external HDMI displays in August/September. The problem is that I will plug the MBPr into an HDMI display, the screen will temporaliy go black, and then bring me to the login screen (as if it's crashing, albeit softly). This happens about 1 out of 4 times nowadays.
How can I fix these problems, especially the first?

Clearly there's a problem because a third of the way through a clean reinstallation from scratch it black screened again. Hmmmm.
Now this is not good. Problem is I can't rule out potential updates from Apple that might have caused this either.

Make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
