  • My iphone screen blacked out! Lock Button Broken!

Doesnt show anything but siri works, and makes noise. There has been a similar thread and the solution was to restart the phone by holding down the lock and home button at the same time but my lock button doesnt work !! PLEASE HELP ASAP!

did you tap the Home Button (Middle circle) to turn it on, then go to settings>accessibility>Assistive Touch>Turn it on (Top one)
Now there should be a circle in a square, tap it and you get more options, such as for you: Tap the Circle>Device>Lock Screen and your screen will be off.

  • Screen problems - black screen and lock-up (plus HDMI issues)

Hi, I'm not sure if these are related to the same fundamental issue, but they are both serious problems that need resolution.
I have a new mid-2012 MBPretina.  I am on all the latest updates (10.8.2).
The first problem is the most recent, and the most serious problem.  Since I updated the Java a couple of days ago I've been experiencing random black screens and lock-ups.  Essentially, what happens is that sometimes when I perform an action (opening an app, clicking a link on a webpage, performing other kinds of in-app actions, etc.) the computer screen will go black.  About half the time I can, through my own memory, try keyboard combinations to quit or force quit the most recently used app (the one where the action was just performed), and I will get some glimpse of the underlying apps, while the menubar and other areas will remain black until I move a window on top of the black space.  Sometimes no key combinations work and I am forced to perform a hard restart with the power button.  This is a serious issue, obviously, since I will lose current work/progress in my apps.  I'm not sure if this is because of the new Java update, or has to do with something else, but it started happening shortly thereafter, over the last 2 days.  I work most of my waking day on my laptop, and this "black screen of death" has happened about 5 or 6 times a day.
The second problem I have been experiencing since I starting using my MBPr with external HDMI displays in August/September.  The problem is that I will plug the MBPr into an HDMI display, the screen will temporaliy go black, and then bring me to the login screen (as if it's crashing, albeit softly).  This happens about 1 out of 4 times nowadays.
How can I fix these problems, especially the first?

    UPDATE:
Clearly there's a problem because a third of the way through a clean reinstallation from scratch it black screened again. Hmmmm.
Now this is not good. Problem is I can't rule out potential updates from Apple that might have caused this either.
    The search for solutions continues.

  • IPhone 4 lock button broken, won't turn on

iPhone 4 lock button broken, used assistive touch for the last several months. Today iPhone turned off in my pocket and is unresponsive to even plugging it into charger. Is there any way to get it to restart?

There is nothing you can do as you won't be able to reset the device.
You can wait until the battery goes flat then try connecting it to power so it restarts. If the same issue occours then you'll need to restore it on iTunes by entering recovery mode.

  • IPhone won't turn on (lock button broken)

iPhone 4s turned off in my pocket and won't turn back on,
the battery was above 60% and I have it charging for 15mins.
I checked the cable and it works with my friends phone.
I cannot hold the lock button and home button(lock button broken)
I'm a bit confused now as to what I should do? Can I do anything from my itunes? the phone doesn't register with my work laptop but  will try it with my personal laptop when I get home.

    Connect in recovery mode:
    Use recovery mode
Recovery mode erases your device and restores it, which should resolve the issue. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you may be able to restore from your backup after recovery.
Turn off your device. If you can't turn it off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time and wait a few seconds for it to turn off.
Plug the device's USB cable into your computer only.
Hold down the device's Home button as you connect the USB cable to it.
When you see the Connect to iTunes screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 one more time.
iTunes should open and display a message such as: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."

  • Solution for a course going to a black screen and locking up after a while (20-30 slides for me)?

The LMS is Saba and I'm using Captivate 6.  I am testing the course in production.  The course goes to a black screen and locks up.  The first time was at slide 28 of 55 which is a widget and the second time was at slide 20 of 55 which is a multiple choice test item.  I'm not sure if the type of slide I'm trying to advance to matters but I want to give as much info as possible. The issue seems to be random since I was first able to get to slide 28.

With LMS issues you should always test the same project in SCORM Cloud before you blame the project.  If SCORM Cloud shows the same issue, fine, blame the project.  If SCORM Cloud has no issue with it, get in touch with the LMS vendor.  It may be that they need to update some component of their SCORM Player software.

  • HT1688 White screen, no lock button?

I opened Instagram on my iPhone 4G this morning and nothing loaded, it's stuck on a blank white screen. I can see the black bar at the top that tells me I'm connected to the internet and the battery, but the rest of the screen is plain white. I have the assistive touch on because the lock button is jammed, and I can still go into its little menu, but when I press the home button (either on the menu or on my actual phone) nothing happens. I've been trying to turn it off but, again, the lock/power button is jammed, and it hasn't been working. I read that you can hold down "lock screen" in the assistive touch menu, but when I do that nothing happens either. I plugged it into the wall and into iTunes on my computer, still nothing.
When I leave it idle, it's doesn't turn off. The screen gets dark, but it's still on, I guess it's just the back-light that turns off? My only idea is to wait for the battery to die and then charge it and hope it goes back to normal.

Try to hold the on-screen "Lock Screen" icon and the home button at the same time until the Apple logo appears. If that does not work, then your idea of letting the battery drain is a good one.

  • Hp G62-a70SV Black Screen, Caps lock not blinking

    Hello,
My hp G62-a70SV gives me a black screen when I push the power button.
Caps lock isn't blinking at all, wifi led is on.
Nothing is ever displayed on screen. I hear eventually the windows starting, but nothing more.
I connect external monitor, but there is no signal.
Is it problem of the display adapter on the system board?

    Hi,
It's always worth trying a Hard Reset as follows.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and see if the notebook will start.
    Regards,

  • Froze on black screen and power button does not work

my sons ipod touch is stuck on a black screen when plugged into the computer got a spinning wheel and will not connect now spinning wheel will not go away the power button does not work so can not reset it manually
    any suggestions would be appreciated

    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Neglect the reset and when it says place the iPod in recovery mode use one of thes programs
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Black Screen - Tried Everything. Broken?

I put my intel iMac to sleep last night. This morning, I go to wake it up, and it makes all the right sounds, but nothing displays on the screen. It is pitch black.
I've tried rebooting, clearing the PRAM, booting into the restore DVD and completely powering the iMac off and then back on. Nothing has worked, the screen is still pitch black.
Is it safe to say that it is broken and I need to get my iMac serviced?
    Thanks.

    hi,
i experienced the black screen today on my 24" imac
i tried everything and while searching i found this thread.
well, i put the imac into target disk mode and connected my ibook... unfortunately, i don't have the capacity to backup my data but was nice to see my files/folders.
i disconnected the imac and left it powered on.
a few minutes later the firewire screen saver was being displayed on my imac's screen!!!
i turned it off and powered it up again with no problems.
we had to leave so i powered off the imac and when i returned, over a hour later, and powered it up - no joy.
so, back to target disk mode and waited for the firewire screen saver to kick in.
once the screen saver kicked in i turned off and powered up again.
i'm writing this while i'm backing up my files/folders to an external drive!!!
    i hope this helps someone.
i plan to reinstall the OS from scratch and go from there... i had been downloading installing software the last few days so i'm hoping for some kind of software conflict.
if it continues i'll bring it in for repair.
    applecare anyone - lol????

  • Nokia X6 Keypad Lock Button Broken

Can someone help? I have had my X6 for just under 6 months and the keypad lock button has snapped off. I have a protective cover on the phone and screen cover and have to admit that when I got the phone, I though it was a bad design and would eventually happen. How do I get it repaired? Is it something my service provider is liable for?

    Hi,
This has just happened to me, I have sent it to my service provider. They said they have not heard of this fault but I think they are lying. This is the third time I have sent my phone to the company and if they replace it it will be my 3rd new X6.
I have had software malfunctions, calling and testing problems and now the unlock slide key falls off. I have been very disappointed at the nokia X6 and I will not buy another touch screen phone made by Nokia.  I will not be paying for this repair as I see it as a design fault by the manufacturer.

  • IPod 4G black screen, unresponsive, stuck during restore

Hi there, I would like to know if anyone has had this problem and if it has been resolved. I've encountered myself to be stuck in this loop of "waiting for ipod" when trying to restore the ipod to ios 6.1.3. It was previously on ios 6.1.2. This is my GF's ipod and she had told me she was using it just fine, but once putting it into her bag, and checking it again the screen had gone entirely black. She'd charge it assuming it was dead but it had gone into a recovery/DFU mode loop. Everytime I plug it into my computer I receive a message that it is in recovery mode and must be restored. I remind you again that no combination of buttons will cure the screen at this point. Holding home + power button for a few seconds for a soft reset just shows the same message when plugged in. Anyway, as I try to update, the screen turns on showing the apple logo and loading bar, but then once the step gets to "waiting for ipod" nothing works. I've tried letting it sit there for over 2 hours, but nothing. I have yet to find a solution, and it's become quite frustrating. Please let me know if you have any idea how to fix this. I've tried messing around using different methods such as iRec, TinyUmbrella, Redsn0w recovery, messing with hosts files, firewall, etc.

I think you are experiencing a fake DFU mode you are always on black screen and iTunes prompt recovery mode.
I think links below can help on how to put it to proper DFU mode, avoid error 1600 and 1601 when restoring, and proper update or restore.
