Black screen w/white apple & circling timer screen keeps flashing on

I bought a refurb iphone 4 and it was freezing a few times or saying this app needs to be connected to wifi or can't get mail without connection the last few days and today the black home screen with white apple along with a circling timer (don't know what to call it) keeps flashing on and off at random when I'm trying to use the phone.  Also, when I plug it in to be charged it does it repeatedly even though I'm not touching it.

Did you do any basic troubleshooting - Restart, Reset, Restore?   See the iPhone User Guide, Appendix B.
Is this phone jailbroken?

My ipad is stuck inbetween on and off.  The screen is black with the white apple in the middle of the screen.  It won't turn off and won't come completely on.  Anyone know what is wrong?

See if this lets the iPad start up.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Reset the device by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for about 15-20 seconds.

    Please help!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if Safari crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • Hi, my iphone 4 home screen keeps flashing on and off repeatedly. if I'm using my phone or in an app it will just go black then light up to the home screen and it does this over and over. Then the power off option will pop up. what should i do

Hi my iphone 4 home screen keeps flashing on and off repeatdly. I will beonmy phone or in an app and it will go to a black screen and then light up to the home screen. Then the power off option will pop up. I have tried letting it die and recharging it and powering it off neither worked. Does any one have an idea on what this could be or what I can do?

If the Slide to Power Off option is coming up, that suggests your power button isn't working correctly and is sticking.
Best thing to do is bring the phone to an Apple store (make an appointment first) and have a Genius take a look at it.

  • Why does Black screen keep popping up

black screen keeps pooping up for no reason

It's been happening to me as well lately on build 10041 just before I upgraded to build 10049. On build 10041, it would usually happen to me when I was browsing the internet. The screen would go black once or twice and then recover. The
bad thing about this is my mouse would start stuttering to the point of being almost unusable accompanied with a beeping sort of sound coming from my audio speakers. Restarting the computer was about the only way I could clear the problem. I've seen other
postings about this elsewhere and the best that can be done right now is to report it as a bug using your feedback app. I have not seen the problem in build 10049 yet.

  • Why does my ipod screen keep flashing?

i have an ipod touch 4th generation and whenever i open an application up the screen keeps flashing white.
why is it doing this? and how do i fix it?

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store..

  • IMac black screen and flashing power light

I installed several system updates on my 2007 iMac last night, running OS 10.7, and today I can only get a black screen with a flashing white power light when I try to start up. My computer will neither start up nor completely shut down, and my wired keyboard won't communicate either. Help!

    Power down, unplug if needed.
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
    If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk.

  • Some pictures in I-Photo seem to be corrupted. When I click on them, the photo comes up for a second, then the picture turns black with a white fuzzy circle inside it and what looks like an explanation mark. Some older, some newer,  no common thread.

Some pictures in I-Photo seem to be corrupted. When I click on them, they come up for a second, then turn black with a white circle in the middle and what looks like an explanation mark. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to the photos that are a problem, some older ones, some newer, some albums have none, some albums have a lot.
    Thanks,
    Mark

time to time (when I have a chance), I will go to Finder, bring up ALL Images and start going through them to label them (before I put a label on them, they are simply listed as 123 jpg, 124 jpg etc.).
You're damaging the Library doing that, and that's the cause of your problem.
Never, ever, ever use the  All Images search and work on items in yoyr iPhoto Library. They must only be accessed via the iPhoto window.
Restroe from abck up or try rebuild the Library:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
Next: You need to learn how to use iPhoto. There's no need to be dragging things to the desktop:

  • Bootcamp black screen w/ flashing underscore... help please

Okay, I have an iMac that i am trying to bootcamp with Windows 7.. I have done everything correct, to my knowledge, when it comes to the installation process, but everytime my computer restarts to finish the install i get sent to a black screen that says "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD" ... and i guarantee you i have pressed many keys to try and get this to work... no dice.
so here is a list of everything i have tried:
    - Rebooting without the cd in the drive. (got a black screen with a flashing underscore, left it on that screen for 3 hours in the hopes it would work, still no luck)
    - Restarted the bootcamp process from the beggining, two times... got the same outcome.
    - Shutdown my computer, unplugged it, plugged it back in... still nothing.
    - Rebooted and tried to start windows by clicking the cd instead of the new drive. (got the "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD" screen, and still couldn't get past it.
If anyone knows what to try next I would greatly appreciate it. This is driving me crazy.
