Black screen when plug the power cord
Hi..
yesterday I bought a new laptop : hp 15-r138
When I plug the power cord - or unplug it .. the screen turn black for a second and then goes back to normal ..
Is this OK ?
Thanks
I've heard of this. Where when you do the update, if you let the screen go dim, or something you can't get it back because you can't see anything due to those controls running in the background at this stage of installation. I'm pretty sure you need to plug it into an external monitor to get it back maybe?

Black screen when plugged in for charge
Hello all. So my problem is that my screen goes black whenever I plug in my pavilion laptop's charger. The computer continues to run because you can hear the sound of the fans still going. Even when I don't have my laptop plugged in and I close the laptop so it will go in sleep mode, sometimes when I open it back up it will have a black screen but you can hear that it is still running as well. I have tried adjusting power and display settings, but nothing works. Please help!!! Because of this I only charge my battery when it's off or in sleep mode and it's a pain because I only get a few hours charge before it needs to be charged again.
Hi again Hope22,
It is good to hear back from you!
To further diagnose this issue, I also recommend following any missed steps in this document on Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boot. This should help determine the cause of your notebook's black screen while plugged into the adapter.
If the issue persists after completing all of the steps in the resource above, I recommend contacting our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

G5 starting instantly after plugging the power cord - why?
Hi,
I have a problem with my old dual 2.0 G5 powermac.
From time to time I'm disconnecting all the cables and the power cord to open up the enclosure to do some house cleaning. I remove dust from the inside, because the g5 works also as a pretty good vacuum cleaner...
When I'm done, I reconnect everything, and start up again just by pressing the power button in front of the machine. But now the G5 starts instantly when I'm plugging the cord into my power strip. Why is something happening?
Thanks for help,
MichalGlad it helped! often good step when there are hardware and power issues. Also, if your power current is "iffy" or anything, outages, brown-outs, overage, always good to add UPS and/or line conditioner (or both) which can also protect your equipment and investment.

Macbook shuts off instantly when I unplug power cord.
Hello everybody.
This afternoon while I was watching a movie on my macbook, (it was on battery power, about 3/4 full) it just shut off. I could not turn it back on, so i plugged the power cord back in, it turned on fine, but whenever I unplug it it shuts down, even though it recognises the battery and charge level and all.
The thing is, when it shuts down it's not like if there was no battery, the screen dims, the battery icon changes to the one it has when its on battery power, and about 1-2 seconds later everything just shuts down. I'm just out of warranty (about 2 weeks ago). Do you guys think this is a hardware issue? I've gone through all the updates i have found on batteries and even reset the power management thing (where you turn the computer off with no battery and hold the power button).
Thanks for any help

Yoga 2 Pro - Black screen when on tablet mode
Hi,
2 weeks Yoya 2 pro out of the box, and get a black screen when reaching the tablet mode (back of the lid touching the back of the laptop base).
I try hanged the setting under power management, with no success. When reaching the tablet mode, I get the same result as closing the lid in laptop mode.
I connect my Yoga 2 to a TV through the HDMI and can see the screen and interact with the black screen (not easy to touch the right spot).
My bios is updated and I have Windows 8.1.
Any suggestion???I found the answer to my problem at
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Windows-based-Tablets-and/Yoga-2-Bios-Update-Crash/m-p/1322487/high...
Now that I found that post I do recall the instructions telling me to turn it off manually when I updated the bios earlier this year. However, the current instructions do not mention it at all, perhaps they should be updated? -
HP ProBook 4530s orange blinking led, won't recognise the power cord
Hello!
yestarday I tried to open my laptop but it didn't start. i thought that maybe the battery was empty so i plugged the power cord, but nothing happened.
then I noticed the led near the power cord blinking orange. After a fast googling i came to this thread ( http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/charging-light-blinking-problem-with-hp-probook-4530s... )
using the 8-step guide I managed to boot the laptop just to realise that it won't detect the power cord!
It was really strange, because when I noticed this, my battery was already at 2%!
I shut down the laptop, and tried to open it without the battery, it booted normally, but it still can't detect that the power cord is plugged in!!!!!
On the other thread some mentioned to update the bios, but in my case where it can't detect the power cord, that's impossible, because the procedure requires the laptop to be plugged in.
Now the laptop won't start normally, I have to keep the power button pressed for 40 secs and then plug the power cord. In addition it won't work only with battery, and that is my biggest problem!!
What should I do now?Hello @sakisg4 ,
To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since the HP ProBook 4530s is a commercial product. You can do this here Notebook - HP ProBook, EliteBook, Compaq, Slate/Tablet PC, Armada, LTE
The support page for your product may be helpful in the meantime: HP ProBook 4530s.
I hope this helps!

Black screen when opening in .pdf
I'm having problems with opening the C5-project in .pdf. Some people get a black screen when opening the .pdf file (version 9 or higher), most of the time it goes well, but 1 out of 10 times it doesn't work. I have know idea what could be the cause of the black screen (use of laptop?).
Now it is impossible to send this project to our stakeholders, because I don't know whether it works or not.
Does anyone recognize this and knows why this happens, and how to solve this? There was a recent patch released by Adobe for Captivate 5 that addressed a similar black screen issue in Captivate SWFs.
You can get the patch here: http://www.adobe.com/support/captivate/downloads.html
It may turn out to fix your issue as well. -
How do i adjust the brightness on my screen? it's dim like when the power cord is out.
After my wife had the laptop out of the house today, I plugged it back in and the screen brightness is very dim...like what it looks like when the power cord is not in...usually, when I plug the cord back in, the screen becomes brighter...that has stopped. Any ideas to fix?
thanks.Hi,
Here are some common ways to adjust the brightness.
Open windows Control Panel, open Windows Mobility Centre and adjust the brightness here.
On a lot of notebooks, tapping f3 will often increase the brightness ( with f2 reducing it ).
Open windows Control Panel, open Power Options, click Change Plan Settings next to your selected power plan and you can adjust the brightness here.

iPad 2 has a black screen which lights up to a grey black screen when I press the power or home button but I dont see the apple logo. The battery is fully charged and when I plug it in to my computer, I can use iTunes to do everythng except backup the iPad since its passcode locked. Please help me resolve this problem. I don't have apple care
Yup! I've been there! You just have to double-tap the screen with three fingers and the zoom should go back. You have to turn off the feature in Settings>Accessibility>Zoom>and turn the switch off so this won't happen again when you double-triple tap.

I have a Power Mac G4 double mirrored model and everytime I shut it off it will not go on when I hit the power on/off button again. However, if I unplug and plug in the power cord it boots fine and everything is OK. The PMU and logic board have been reset. Sometimes my Mac goes on just by pressing the power on button but most times I have to pull the power cord and put it back in. Any ideas or help out there for this? Could it be a failing power supply? Apple Care says that this model is obsolete so there is no help from there. John
<E-mail Edited by Host>Hi John,
That's often a sign of a bsad Capacitor in the Power Supply, but...
Might be time to replace the PRAM Battery, 4 years is close to their lifespan, far less if ever without AC power, & can cause strange startup problems...

My phone is plugged in and the screen shows the power cord connector and arrow and the iTunes logo. I have made sure the plug is in and power on. Touching the screen does nothing. I have turned it off and back on I get an apple pic then back to the iTunes logo pic, arrow and plug....
I installed new update and have had the connect to iTunes all day. I got home connected to iTunes and it said my phone couldn't be updated it needed restored to factory settings. I was reluctant to lose everything so I ignored this and clicked update. After it installed it said to restore again. Again I ignored it and this time it updated my phone and my phone turned back on with everything there.
So glad I ignored the previous messages asking me to restore! You could try this if you have iTunes and don't want it restored to factory settings. -
MacBook Pro just shut down without notice. It had about 40% of the battery life. It will not turn back on and I noticed when plugged in the little light on the power cord is blinking orange, not a solid green like normal. Anyone have this issue before? I've only had this for about 3mos. I called apple support. They tried one thing then said I have to take to the apple store. Unfortunately I don't have one nearby. So before I travel an hour+ away I thought is give it a shot on here. Thank.
Hi S,
Did they have you try an SMC Reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964? -
My phone died last night and when I plugged it in it wouldn't turn on.I tried restarting it but it has yet to turn on since last night,It was just a black screen,i try the on/off and home buttons together but its not working,What should I do?
How long have you had your phone? Because if you've had it a long time, the battery in the phone might of died on you. Or have you dropped it in water, snow, from high up? All those things could of disconnected something internally in your phone, or permentaly damaged the internal hard drive its self, or the sims card.

HT201401 What causes the iPhone 4S to shut down to a black screen when it has full power?
What causes the iPhone 4S to shut down to a black screen when it has full power? I have cleared the open icons and it works for one day then shuts down again.
Software hiccup, glitch or maybe faulty battery. Restore iPhone with iTunes on computer. See if this helps. If still problem that you think is serious enough to fix, all iPhone 4S have full Warranty. Make Genius Reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution.
