I tried reset and other things but its not showing anything.

Hi Nayj424,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your Compaq Presario CQ62-102TX Notebook and getting a blank or black screen on startup. Try performing a hard reset. When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices, and remove memory cards from the card reader slot. Disconnect all non-essential devices. If that does not help try to turn on the computer you start to press F11 repeatedly till the menu opens. You can do a system restore.
Hope this is helpful.
Thanks.

    Hi,
I your notebook still under warranty?  If it is, you will need to contact HP and arrange to have the notebook repaired under warranty.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
If you're out of warranty, I would suggest getting an estimate ( and a confirmation of the diagnosis ) from a local computer repair shop.  If the actual processor chip is faulty, this is far easier to replace than say a fault with the graphics chip ( which usually means a new Motherboard ) and so may well be worth the expense.

  • Hp pavilion g4 1104dx display white screen and caps lock blink twice

Hi i recently used my hp laptop screen to test another laptop acer aspire 5517. After the test i reconnected back the cable only to power it on a white screen appeared with caps lock blink twice. I thought the problem might be screen shot so i decided to connect to external monitor but still no signal on external monitor even after pressing fn+f4. What might be the problem thanks.

Hi there , Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great site to get answers and ask questions. I understand you are having an issue with your Notebook. You had stated that you receive a White Screen and the Caps Lock are blinking twice. Please be very careful when it comes to blink patterns as sometimes there can be a pause between the blinking.   Before you start troubleshooting, please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues. Here is the first document I found called Performing a Hard Reset or Forced Reset. If that does not work, please follow Computer Does Not Start (Windows 8). The last document I have for you that may help is called Computer does not start and the LEDs blink or the computer beeps. Please follow these provided troubleshooting steps, re-post and let me know how everything went. Thank you! Have a great day!

  • Laptop Black screen flashing Caps Lock

Hello. I have a HP ENVY 17-j130ea which i purchased a couple of weeks ago and decided to put a mSATA SSD in there for the cache drive.
I installed the mSATA drive, but when i put it back together i forgot to put the HDD in.
When I turned it on it came up with a message saying there was no OS installed then the screen went blank.
Now when i try to turn it on with or without the mSATA or HDD in, the screen stays blank and the caps lock blinks twice every three seconds.
I have tried leaving it for 5 minutes, I have unplugged it, taken the battery out and held the power button down for 1 minute, I have made a bios recovery key and turned it on with the 'Windows' and 'B' button held down and it does the exact same thing every time.
TLDR; I put a mSATA drive in my laptop and it is giving me a BIOS error and no matter what I do, I am unable to fix it.

I have a little more to add
If I turn it on normally, nothing happens on the memory stick (no lights or anything)
If I turn it on while holding down Windows and B, the memory stick turns on after about 15-20 seconds, the light flashes for about 5 seconds then it stops flashing, it just sits on a solid light.
Its almost as if it is searching the memory stick for the files but fails to find them.
I used sp65000.exe to create the recovery stick

    Hi wasasa45 ,
I am sorry to hear about this issue.
At first, please try a Hard Reset as follows.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook.
If the above step does not help please refer to the follwing document:
Computer does not start (Windows 7, Vista, XP): http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01443371&cc=ad&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_r1002_us...
Please follow the steps in the section that says "Symptom: LEDs glow, fan noise is heard, but display is black or blank".
If the above step does not make any difference, we will go ahead and reseat the Memory (RAM) and the Hard Drive (HDD) on the Notebook and see whether that makes a difference.
    Reseating RAM:
First we will have to try reseating the RAM.  Your Notebook should have 2 RAM slots. If you have got a single RAM Module, you can try removing that from the existing slot and place it on the other one and see whether the Notebook turns ON after that. If you have got two Modules, you can try swapping them. If that too does not work, try turning ON the Notebook with only 1 Module inserted and also by changing the slot. You will have to work the permutations and see whether the Notebook turns ON. This is to understand whether the issue is with any of the RAM slots or the RAM module itself.
Please find details on how to reseat and insert back the RAM from the following document:
General document on Steps for Removing and Replacing Memory Modules:http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=uk&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c00262554
    Reseating HDD
We will reseat the Hard Drive cables and will put it back to its actual position.
General document on Steps for Removing and Replacing the Hard Disk Drive: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=uk&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c00649950
You just have to reseat the Hard Drive cable and then insert it back to its actual position. This is to ensure there is no loose connection or static electricity accumulation. Check whether the Notebook works properly after doing this.
I am waiting to hear back from you.

  • Pavilion dv6-3040sa, black screen, flashing caps lock

Hey all, In need of some help for a friend, her laptop has had this issue for a while now and only just come to me for help. Her HP Pavilion DV6-3040SA has an odd issue with it, if you power it up the display doesn't come on and the caps lock just flashes, it will continue to flash until the laptop is turned off. On the help section a flashing caps lock does not refer to any particular error. I've reseated RAM, tried hard resetting, reseated the CPU and it managed to power up, then after it was turned off, it wouldn't power up again and had the same issue, after playing with it some more it powered up and worked for 2 days, when it promptly stopped working again. Any reason for this issue?

Processor failures can be have inconsistently.  I have seen processor failures start with 1-2 second hangs in the OS to working one day and not at all the next.
The blinking code you have desribed is a beep code of one.  Review the following table found here.

The options for a blink code of 1 is to reseat the CPU as you have already done or to replace the processor.  Since the issue returns after reseating the CPU, it looks like the CPU needs to be replaced.  Sorry.

    Hello SuperMario1,
    Thanks for your response.
The last thing i did, remove CMOS battery and after a few minutes i plugged it.
Then connect AC power adapter and press power button.
Laptop starts but gives a error message
"The CMOS checksum is invalid, The BIOS will be reset to the default configuration and will be rebooted."
Finally laptop start normally. It works fine ...
But same problem when i restart
"blank screen caps lock blink 2 times every 3/4 sec"
    So finally
    1. remove CMOS battery and after a few minutes i plugged it again
    2. connect AC power adapter and press power button
    3. laptops starts normally (with a error msg same as previous)
    4. Upgrade bios to F.29(previously i had F.24)
    5. Everythings works fine (restart/shutdown have no effect)

  • Pavilion DV6, Black Screen and 3 Caps Lock Blink

    HI,
I have an Hp Pavilion DV6 and I am getting the 3 blinks on the caps lock. When I turn on the PC it starts up, the caps lock blinks 3 times and the screen is just black. I have already tested the memory sticks, drain the battery, and hooking it up to an external monitor.  Nothing shows on the other monitor and it just remains black. Please help!

    Hi @shmurray,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand you are getting a blink pattern on the Caps lock LED, when you turn on the notebook. I am happy to help you with this.
I am including the page on the error codes for your reference: Blank Screen LED Error Codes
From that document the pattern you are getting indicates a memory problem. You said that you have tested the memory. What exactly did you try?
The document suggests reseating the RAM or trying a new set of RAM and then restarting the notebook. If you are still getting a memory problem after trying both of those things, ie a 3 blink code again, then it would likely suggest that there is a problem with the motherboard itself, either with the memory slot or one of the controllers related to memory.
In that case I would suggest contacting the technical phone support number at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

If however reseating the memory or replacing it leads to a different error code or message please let me know, Although in that case the following may be helpful if you still have a blank screen.

  • Caps lock blink 5 times on Compaq 615 laptop, but screen doesn't come on.

My Compaq 615 laptop screen doesn't come on, instead it blinks capslock 5 times. What shlould I do?
It has an AMD Athlon X2 processor, with Radeon 3200 graphics.
I didn't install any new software or hardware recently. All I did was work with the system at night, shut it down, and when I turned it on the following morning, the screen refused to come up, but the caps lock blinks 5 times.

Sorry to hear that. Please refer to the Blank Screen LED Error Codes document from HP Support. It sounds like a "General system board failure." The explanation says to contact HP for assistance. The motherboard might need to be replaced, and you will probably require the assistance of a technician to fix the problem.

  • Black screen with blinking cursor while trying to boot from Win Install CD

I'm running Leopard with all updates on a brand new MacBook Pro.
I initially had no problems with Boot Camp - the Assistant partitioned my drive, I put in my Vista DVD and hit Start Installation and the MacBook rebooted from the Windows DVD just fine. I made a mistake, however, when I used my retail Leopard disc instead of the install DVDs from my new MacBook, so the wrong drivers got installed and things were a mess. It wasn't painful setting up Boot Camp, so I decided I'd just go back into Leopard, wipe the Windows partition, and retry.
The Boot Camp Assistant had no problem merging the boot camp partition back with the main one, then making a new boot camp partition (I'm not sure if this was necessary, but I did it). I then put in my Vista DVD again and hit Start Installation. The MacBook rebooted, but not into the DVD - it just sat at the black screen with the blinking cursor in the top left corner. After 10 minutes of nothing, I held the power button to shut the MacBook down and tried again - same thing. I booted back into Leopard and tried Start Installation again - same problem. I remerged the boot camp partition, restarted the MacBook, then made a new partition and tried the Vista DVD - again just that blinking cursor.
What went wrong and how do I fix it?

Try resetting the PMU. See link here.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7188736
I tried everything mentioned previously (in this thread AND the link thread) and the PMU reset (shutdown, pull out power cord and other cords, wait 30 seconds, plug back in and restart) let me continue to install windows after partitioning the HD. Good luck!

  • Boot Camp: Early 2011 MacBook Pro boots to black screen with blinking cursor after windows 7 installation.

I bought and downloaded the windows 7 ultimate edition 64 bit iso, then proceeded to perform a correct burn to a DVD one at the slowest speed and one at the fastest. all went well. so I open Boot Camp assistant and follow the instructions to the letter, downloaded the driver support to the flash drive. partitioned my drive with more than enough room 150 gb. its starts its install. I get through everything seamlessly where I put in my info all with the exception of my activation code. yet it still continues to finalize the install and does another restart. boots back up to either A. black screen saying press any key to boot to my install disk. B. if I take it out just a white curser. also I read it may be because I had the flash drive in while I was trying to boot so I removed it as well, same result. any input would be much appreciated.

  • Windows 7 on Boot Camp stuck at black screen with blinking cursor... starts up fine in Parallels desktop

    Hi,
Recently my dad's Windows 7 (Ultimate 64-bit) on his Mac Pro has stopped working. It gets stuck at a black screen with a blinking cursor. I've waited at least five minutes and it doesn't do anything, I have to power it off.
However it starts up perfectly fine and intact in Parallels desktop. If I insert the original installation DVD and boot from the Disc that says 'Windows' it will boot into the partition and work fine, unless I press a key to boot from the DVD.
I find both these things to be strange. The partition is backed up, which is fine, but I'd rather not have to re-install it if possible.
I have booted from the DVD and tried to repair the disk. It said it found a problem with something related to startup and that it needed to restart to repair it. I clicked yes, and then held alt/opt and (I think wrongly) booted back into the disc rather than the Windows partition. However it now says that it can't detect any problems.
In the repair my computer section when booting from the DVD, it detects the OS as Windows Vista Business. I followed these steps I found online:
Fixed! Peroblem was I think using OEM, which Bootcamp advise against using... they advise to use retail only. Fixed like this:
    1. Put the Windows 7 installation disc in the disc drive, and then start your computer.
    2. Hold down Option key till all available disks are displayed and select DVD. Press a key when you are prompted.
    3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then 4. click Next.
    5. Click Repair your computer.
    6. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
7.In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
    Type (these commands are safe)
    Code: Bootrec.exe /FixMbr
    Code: Bootrec.exe /FixBoot
    Code: Bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd
    *Press ENTER after each command.*
    *Restart your computer.*
    Done. Rockin'
FixMbr was successful, as was FixBoot. However RebuildBcd reported that it found no Windows installations.
Does anyone know what could be wrong here? I should note that recently I removed the drive Windows 7 is installed on and put it back in. Also Windows Updates probably have been done by my dad. Not sure if they could be the problem.
