Black screen with cursor blinking for a long time before loading windows 7

Hey guys, i'm having an annoying problem with my macbook pro... i installed windows 7 using bootcamp and now i get a black screen with cursor blinking for a long time before loading windows... it *****, it takes about 3 minutes to get my notebook running
The first time i installed windows seven i did not have this problem... i already deleted  the partition several times and installed windows again, but the black screen problem is still happening. i don't know what do
You guys have any tips? anyone with the same problem?? this ***** a lot. thanks

Hey Theoos..
Yeah, my version is not.. the first time i installed it was ok, but after 30 days it was asking for a key... then i installed a cracked version, and the cursor started blinking on start up, and took like 2 minutes...
I tested several cracks but with all of them happened the same.
Thanks

At startup hold down the Option/Alt key and from the screen that comes up select your OS X partition to start the computer from. Then use the Boot Camp Assistant app to Remove Windows and the partition you reated for it and it will Automatically place the space you allocated for the Windows install back into the OS X partition.
    NOTE:
Do NOT use Disk Utility to erase the partition that was created for the Windows install. Use the Boot Camp Assistant app again to do that.

  • Black Screen with a Blinking Cursor in Left Corner....

    Hello,
I have an HP Pavilion Elite HPE Desktop.  We have been having issues over the past weeks of our Computer Freezing or Shutting Off while in the middle of using it.
Today it shut off and when it came back on, it stopped at a Black Screen with a Blinking Cursor in the top left hand corner.
We tried leaving it on to see if it would load up, after approximately 15 minutes still nothing!  Manually shut it down, kept off for like 30 minutes to an hour, turned back on and the same thing happened again.
Anyone have any Suggestions as to what is wrong with our Desktop???  Please help.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    OK.
If you are getting a disk read\write error then it would seem more likely  to be a hard disk failing.
Post the results that you get on the hard disk test.  If your disk is failing then trying to restore or recover simply won't work. A hard disk replacement will be required.
You may be able to get  your data off of the drive by putting it in an external enclosure and connecting it to another Windows PC.

  • Booting Windows 7 in Boot Camp shows a black screen with a blinking cursor

I am trying to restore a DMG image of a Windows 7 Boot Camp partition back to Boot Camp. (I know that I should have used Winclone, but I didn't have that option because the drive was already dying and so I couldn't even access OS X anymore.)
So far, I've gotten to the point where I can start up the computer, hold Option, choose Windows, but then when it boots up, it shows a black screen with a blinking cursor.
I've tried a few things so far to try and fix this, none of which has worked. I have used the Windows 7 install DVD to run `bootrec` and all its possible arguments. I've ran `chkdsk C: /b`. I've also used the "Automatically fix startup problems" button, of course, as well.
Anyone know what else I could try to fix this?

Already tried those steps. Did not work. I finally fixed the problem by using iPartition and running "Write MBR Boot Code" and then renaming the Windows 7 partition and hitting "Go". The latter step causes iPartition to fix any problems that might exist in the partition. After renaming it, I just renamed it back to what it was before. (It was "Windows 7", I renamed to "Windows 7-02", then renamed it back to "Windows 7" afterward.)

  • Black Screen with Cursor (Tried most solutions)

To save your time and mine, I’ve tried all options in “press f8” and “recovery disk”. Over the past 3 days, I read almost all threads, videos, articles, and official MS help containing any mention of this problem. I also applied many commands, created few
“SystemRescue CDs” and “Kaspersky Rescue 10” on a usb drive. I follow instructions very well, and have never been stumped by a windows problem like this before. If someone solves this, you are a wizard!
Nothing has worked so far, but I really want to figure this out and not ‘reinstall’. It appears to be a simple and popular problem: “Right after Win 7 boot Logo, I get black screen with white mouse cursor,
no matter if I boot in safe mode, last good configuration, or normal startup”, but all the solutions that worked for most people are not working for me.
TL;DR: (answers to any of the 7 questions in the end will help me out)
Custom System: Win 7 64 bit (updated consistently), 4gb ram, Quad Core 2.66, 64GB SSD (Crucial M4) and 4 hard other drives. Only windows installations/updates have been installed onto the SSD, no other programs. Only 1 OS has ever been installed
on this computer. Never dual booted.

    2014-04-19
I haven’t installed or downloaded any programs in the past 3 weeks, and did not notice anything unusual up until this incident.
In the morning the computer went into hibernation because I was away, it couldn’t wake up (usually happens), so I turned off the power supply. Turned it back on, and computer resumed, I was concerned as it may have run out of hard drive space on my 64GB
SSD (4GB free), but it booted fine.
Later during the day, I decided to restart the computer, and as it booted up again, it went into “start up repair”. I let it run and restart, and it arrived at the dreaded Black screen with mouse cursor, of death, right before logon screen.
Symptoms while on this black screen.
Ctrl alt del doesn’t work, power off doesn’t work, cursor can move, pressing ‘shift’ many times doesn’t bring up the ‘sticky key’. No task manager.
Hard drive is not loading anything, just idle.
Computer falls asleep after 15 minutes or so, and can wake up back to this black screen, so it remembers my power settings
Safe mode loads the drivers fine, but also gets stuck on the same ‘black screen with cursor’ forever
I tried every option in the ‘advanced boot’, including ‘safe with command prompt, safe with networking, last known configuration, etc’
Last known configuration, and all of the above, all boots to ‘black screen with cursor’, this means windows believed it booted fine the last time, so it remembered this configuration. That’s because all the drivers loaded without issue. While loading
Safe Mode, I can see windows loading all the drivers ok.
No restore or backups (I know, I do not deserve to live, lesson learned)
I tried all applicable functions from the ‘recovery cd command prompt’, bcdedit, bootrec, diskpart, and still couldn’t get it to boot.
Commands applied in Elevated Command Prompt from Installation DVD: (very careful with backups and overwriting)
Diskpart -> list volume, tells me that 100mb is system reserved, the other 59GB has no label, and is a different partition
Bootrec -> scanos, tells me that I have 0 windows installations, used fixboot, /fixmbr, /rebuildmbr, all successful. Mounting the drive later on RescueDisk’s TestDisk shows no problems with either partition.
BCDedit: shows both boot manager and winloader to be on the same drive, and I referenced it with a typical BCDedit enum output, and nothing is out of place.
I went into Regedit by typing “regedit” in command prompt in Win7 recovery cd, and confimed that ‘Shell=explorer.exe’ under:
    HKEY_local machine/software/microsoft/WindowsNT/Currentversion/winlogon.
Sfc /scannow couldn’t run due to “Pending repairs/restart”
    So I used: SFC.EXE /scannow /offbootdir=c:\  /offwindir=c:\windows
Which ran and repaired some errors the first time. I ran it more just to make sure, with restarts in between, it gave me
Win resource protection did not find any integrity violations.
So the system files appears to be fine and not corrupted.
Bootrec /scanos does not detect any windows installations. “0 Windows installations identified”, yet “Diskpart -> Detail Disk” and bcdedit both detects the windows directory.
    From windows recovery disk:
    Startup Repair diagnosis: (Show Details)
    All tests completed successfully
Boot status indicates that the OS booted successfully
It seems that the system and the OS boots successfully, and windows believes it boots successfully (that’s why last know good configuration gives me the black screen also, and Win Startup Diagnosis all says it booted successfully”
It’s the second before it enters into the logon screen, the black screen and movable cursor appears, and hangs here forever. What programs load during this step, and how can I find out this info? Is there a diagnosis tool that allows me to see the programs
as they load during windows start up?
    Other attempts:
Then I read it could be windows using “winresume.exe” instead of winloader.exe, since I have “hiberfil.sys” in C:\windows, so I backed it up and deleted it using SystemRescue.
Another thread said “winevt” bad logs, in C:\windows\system32\winevt were causing this black screen, so I backed it up and deleted that also, and it still won’t boot.
I plugged in the devices that were attached (just 1 ext hard drive, through a 10 port usb hub) that was connected while it went into hibernation on April 19th, and it didn’t help.
The files on that disk and the file system is not corrupt; I tested it by taking it out and docking it on a usb Blax Duet, and my laptop did a scan disc, and it’s fine. The Sfc Scan also shows that it is ok.
I also unplugged all the other sata drives, switched the SSD sata cable around to other sata ports to no prevail.
    So far I know:
Very unlikely that it’s a virus problem, I haven’t installed or downloaded anything this month, scans from Kaspersky 10 rescue disk shows nothing, Farbar scan shows nothing. I also never install anything suspicious, like toolbars or junk. I scan regularily.
Not a driver problem, since I haven’t changed or updated anything. I unplugged all devices, and starting in 640x480 mode also gives the black screen with cursor. Drivers all loaded fine while starting windows and safe mode
Boot files are intact, windows system files are in the right place since windows actually boots into a shell? Both bootloader and boot manager show up in bcdedit enum scans
Not due to system file corruption, since file integrity are confirmed ok by above CMD commands, and windows diagnostic tool, and testdisk.
    My questions:
What could be the cause of this? I didn’t make any changes to BIOS, windows settings, perform any updates, suspicious activities, installations, or crashes, before this. The files on that disk and the file system are not corrupt either, I tested it by
taking it out and docking it on a usb Blax Duet, and my laptop did a scan disc, and it’s fine.
Which program (classpnp.sys? explorer.exe? winlogon.exe?) is being loaded right before “windows logon screen” that would cause it to hang with a black background and cursor?
How can I find out this information? Is there a tool that can record all programs that are being loaded by windows at boot?
I only have access to regedit, elevated command prompt, and I can change files through SystemRescue or Kaspersky recue, how can I get the computer to boot past that black screen with a mouse cursor? The answer seems so close.
From the Rescue Disks, what could I really do to get past the black screen?
Those who are computer technicians could tell me: If I take it to a computer shop or technician, what could they do in a situation like this aside from all of the above? Do they have some ‘next level’ access tools or are they just going to waste my time
and tell me I have to reinstall?
At the very worst, I will obviously reintall. On my 64gb SSD, I didn’t install any important softwares. All my important software installations are on a separate drive. However, will they still work if I did a ‘Inplace Upgrade’ install of windows? Does
    registry get wiped?

    Hi,
Have you tried to take startup repair when booting with the rescue disk?
    Startup Repair
And we'd better bring the PC to the vendors, then take an examination of the hardware health.
How does the Bootrec /scanos show 0 installation identified? We may take a try with chkdsk from command line to check if there are any disk errors:

Please also take a check if the system reserved partition is stay in health:

Did you read his post at all as it does not look like it.
As to take it to a vendor "Custom System:"" Win 7 64 bit (updated consistently), 4gb ram, Quad Core 2.66, 64GB SSD (Crucial M4) and 4 hard other drives. Only windows installations/updates have been installed onto the SSD,

As to your other suggestions he has tried them all as have thousands of us out here , all you have to do is search the internet  and you see millions of hits about this.

  • CC causes black screen with cursor

Quite a number of people, including me, are noting that when the Creative Cloud app is active and showing in the menu bar, when my rMBP goes to sleep, and I try to resume immediately, for 5-8 seconds I get a black screen with cursor.  If I close down CC, there aren't any issues.
Something more for Adobe to fix.

  • Trying to reformat and reinstall windows but get black screen with cursor

Im trying to reformat my computer after a blue screen error and when i pop in my disk to reformat and install it goes through the first stuff...opening files then it says starting windows and then black screen with cursor..nothing else..i can move the
cursor but i cant click anything..nothing happens.

    Hi  Marrik,
Is there any error code or error message displayed in the installation process ? because just based on your description in the post, it is difficult to find the root cause for a black screen even after a clean install, this might be caused by a corrupt installation
media or a hardware issue, so, I give two potential suggestion:
1.Try another Windows installation media and perform a clean install again to  see the result.
2.Go to the computer vendor for hardware support, this also can be caused by a memory or hard disk issue.

  • Slave instance can not synchronized with the master for a long time

    Hi,
Slave instance can not synchronized with the master for a long time, and the gap of LSNs between slave and master are more and more larger. The transfer bytes per second between master and slave is 118MB/s , upper limit to the ethernet card. Why???
    ENVIRONMENT:
    1. A network program which we called mcdb is based on BDB 4.8.30. It is used to accept get/set requests and then query data from bdb or save data to bdb.
    2. mcdb implements replication with bdb replication manager api. The default start replication policy is DB_REP_ELECTION, rep ack policy is DB_REPMGR_ACKS_ONE_PEER and rep priority is 100.
    3. The bdb data files, bdb log files, region files and rep files are all in the same home directory.
    4. There are two instances of the mcdb are separately on two standalone servers which has no other programs. These two instances are in one replication group which can elect a master automatically.
    5. The master instance is online, which has lots of requests (get, set, delete).
    ACTIONS:
    1. Start two mcdb instances on two servers and the two instance make a replication group. Slave has already synchronized with the master.
    2. Stop the slave for a long time (more than 20 hours).
    3. Start the slave instance to synchronize data with master.
    RESULT:
    1. the gap of LSNs between slave and master are more and more larger.
    2. db_stat of master and slave:

    Hi,
Unfortunately, this issue is beyond the level of what is supported over the forum. Performance related issues are extremely complex and require an in-depth understanding of your environment and dedicated support. In a generic sense, you can look at this as a basic queueing problem. You have a server that went down and work is still coming in. When the server gets started it is possible that it may never catch up depending on new work coming in and the rate at processing the old work.
So what would you do in this case --- one thing would be to reduce the new work coming in. In HA terms this would be slowing the master down and you can increase DB_REP_ACK_TIMEOUT for this. Another thing you could do is add fresh servers to help reduce the workload. In HA terms, this would be the equivalent of restarting the client and give it a fresh look at everything. Another thing you could do is replan the system and load balance. In HA terms, it would mean something like take a hot backup of the master and reinit a client from scratch.
If you are interested in getting a dedicated support person working on this concern, please let me know and we can move forward down that path. Just respond to the thread with your email address and I will get in contact with you so we can pursue that approach.
    thanks
    mike

    hi there,
It seems like the HDD or the OS is faulty.
Other things that you can try:
    1. If you're running on Windows 7, restart the machine and continuously tap F8 and see if you can select one of the Advanced Boot Options (e.g., Safe Mode, Last Known Good Configuration, etc.)
    2. If the machine is preloaded with Windows 8.1, you will need to create a bootable USB Windows 8.1 flashdrive. From here, boot from the USB flashdrive and attempt repairs on the drive (e.g., automatic repair, chkdsk, bootrec, etc.)
    Guides:
Windows 8.1 ISO - Download or Create

    3. Create a bootable UEFI USB Diagnostics and run a scan on the HDD.

You can also take the HDD out and read it on another machine (by using a SATA enclosure) and run some tests.

  • Windows boots but won't load (Black screen with cursor)

[Sorry for the long post, but I feel the need to fully explain my situation]
    I have the following problem:
I turn on my PC, and Windows shows it's normal loading screen, after which it goes into a completely black screen, with just the mouse in the middle. By the cursor size I can tell that it's in a low resolution, probably 800x600 (compared to my usual 1920x1080). I am able to move the mouse around, but with no particular use without something to click on. No other keyboard input seems to work, except for Shift key 5 times, which brings up the Sticky Keys dialog box (with just "Yes" or "No" options, no other link); and Windows key+U which brings up the Ease of Access center. Ctr+Alt+Del does NOT work.
So far this is what I have tried (in chronological order):
Boot into Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Booting in low resolution video, Last known good configuration: all yield the same result as booting normally.
    Repair your computer:
Startup Repair: Found Registry Errors (I realized and fixed this later on)
System Restore: Did not find any previous restore points (I know for sure that there are, I made a habit of making restore points regularly).
Windows Memory Diagnostics: Did not find errors.
    Command prompt:
Ran chkdsk /f /r command, did not report errors.
Ran sfc /scannow : I don't remember the exact report, but it asked for a restart to finish repairing problems. I restarted, and ran the command again for the same result.
Forced the scan with: sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows , it found and repaired some errors, still could not load windows.
Ran Dell Startup Diagnostics, found no errors.
Ran Startup Repair again, found the registry errors again. I found the solution to this in a Microsoft Help forum ( answers.microsoft.com/.../f77d5355-b8be-41d6-af24-cae994e1768f ), and fixed the issue. I rebooted, but the problem persists.
Startup Repair now finds no errors. I tried System Restore again, it found 2 restore points dated AFTER my problem started. I decided to restore anyways, but neither of them worked.
    I ran Windows Defender Offline:
Quick Scan: and found 2 threats and removed them.
Full System Scan: found 4 more threats, removed 2 of them, the other two couldn't be removed because they were within an ISO file.
I tried Steps 1, 2 and 3 again with no luck.
With each step I am aware that I'm closer to having to reinstall Windows, so I decided to see if I could still access my HHDD to save my personal files. I made a Linux live CD (with Ubuntu), but I am having trouble mounting the drives, because they are in a RAID0 configuration. "sudo dmraid -s" gives the following error: "ERROR: isw: wrong number of devices in RAID set "isw_dbdffjficc_ARRAY0" [1/2] on /dev/sdb".
    Important Details:
I changed my graphics card about 4 months ago (an Nvidia GTX 750ti for an ATI Radeon HD 6450), and I was told that I may be running short with the Power Supply. The new card asks for a minimum of 450W and I think my PSU is 460W. This may or may not have something to do with this issue, I have no idea.
The RAID0 configuration of my 2 500GB Hard Drives brought me a lot of problems from day 1. One of the HDD would randomly fail (I am able to hear a different clicking sound when this happens), and the computer would crash. Upon startup, it would ask for a boot device. The Dell startup utility would then only recognize 1 of the drives, but would finish without errors. After a restart or two, all would be fine and windows would boot normally (aside from the usual error recovery screen) without any sign of corrupted data or anything. Like I said, this has been happening form the day my PC arrived, but restarting a couple of times always fixed it. As of now, both HHDD seem to be working fine, the Dell utility recognizes both of them, and does not find errors in any of them, and I can access any directory from the command prompt.
Is there anything else I should try before reinstalling Windows?
Before the install, I would really like to be able to recover my files (I have important documents from college), is there any way to do this?
Sorry again for the extremely long post (and for any language errors, English is not my native language), and thanks in advance.

Since you still haven't got your data from the drive(s). I would advise performing a Windows installation without formatting the drive... I don't like this solution but at this stage you have probably tried everything else.
Use a Windows 7 Reinstallation DVD when installing ensure you select...
Select Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)
If you do not select any of the drive options and simply highlight the largest partition and select next:
Windows will dump all the old installation files in the Windows.old folder
