Black Screens in applets and even in control panel
When I launch java applets or even go to the Java control panel (I have 32-bit java), I get a black screen such as the one in this screenshot:

I have an ATI HD 4850 card that has been updated to the latest drivers.
Can anyone help me out?

I figured out how to fix the problem.
I am running Win7 Pro 64 and was running java6. I have an ATI gfx card.
Following posts on other forums, I removed the SDK and catalyst control center from the ATI installation. I also upgraded to java7. After a reboot, there were no more issues with the black screens.

After being connected to a charging source overnight try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Won't boot. Gong sound and Black screen alternate over and over and over.
So yesterday, on a Mac Pro (newer, came with slim keyboarboard) I tried to launch iPhoto. The Icon bounced as though it was opening like 4 different times then suddenly the screen dropped to a really low resolution (i could tell by the size of the cursor) and all blue. Nothing would save it, so I forced it to shut down. Now, when trying to boot it cycles between the gong and a black screen. Over, and over. Even when booting from a disk. If I hold down option it will take me to the screen to select a drive/disk/partition to boot from, but as soon as one is selected: black, gong, black, gong, etc.
I think it's important to note that this bad boy is equipped with Faronics Deep Freeze. It's had problems 3 times within the past month or so, where a clean re-image is necessary. Any ideas on the problem would be great!Hi Riley Florence;
I hope you have a back up because it sounds like your hard drive has given up. I suggest that it time for it to go back to Apple.
After reading some of the reviews on Faronica Deep Freeze and its security vulnerabilities, I am not going to install it on any of my Macs.

Just updated to lion and my cctv access has stopped functioning all I get is a white screen in the middle of the control panel where the camera shots should be. I think it is caused by JAVA but am confused as when i view on snow leopard it works can you help
Open "Java Preferences" either from spotlight or your utilities folder...it's probably going to say you need to install a java runtime. Then just click install!

Stuck with black screen with Apple and download bar approx 1 quarter done. Downloading Yosemite. It has completely stopped. I can't access anything. Please help
You should really read the manual.

Restore. When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them. What program did you use to import them? Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all. You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer. -
How do I reboot my iMac in Lion? Right now it opens a black screen with Dos and asks me to insert the boot disk.I recently installed Parallels & Windows 7. I just updated my Ipad to I0S 7.02 like it asked me too. Now i have a black screen Itunes logo and a picture of the plug in cord. I can't get to my home screen. What happened?
You are in Recovery Mode. Follow the instructions below to recover your iPad.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost. -
I used Cmd +Q to close a programme and the screen went blank and even tho the power cord is attached the macbook is not powering up any ideas

I updated my phone overnight and now I can't get it to come on. I've tried everything, I have a black screen, white apple and a mine below that looks like it's trying to load but it has stopped. HELP!
You're not alone. I am having similar problems with my Ipod 5th gen 30gb.
When I connect it to my laptop (Vista - basic) it is not recognised by itunes. Itunes simply locks up.
So far I have tried the following to no avail:
Checked my pc's device manager - it recognises the device and says it is functioning properly.
Checked the drivers to make sure they are upt to date.
Uninstalled & reinstalled a previous version of itunes (as it worked fine before the latest release).
Reinstalled the latest itunes.
Reset the ipod.
Put the ipod into disk mode and reconnected to itunes.
Have tried to use the windows tool to scan and fix any bad sectors but it fails to complete a scan without locking that up as well.
Placed into disk mode when fully charged and then allowed the battery to drain completely. Then reconnected ipod (in disk mode)and it still is not recognised and locks up itunes.
At this point I dont really want to part with another $300 odd dollars for a new one. -
When I play videos or TV shows on itunes for my PC, a black screen comes up and there's sound for a few seconds, but it stops and the counter skips to -11...

I always want to thank you for usefule information from this forum.
My issue like this subject is that I got a symptom, when I removed Internet Explorer 11 via "Programs and Features" on Control panel and I get reaponse and Internet Explorer 9 is appered directry throught "Programs and Features"
under Windows Server 2008R2.
However under another environment, I performed just same task under Windows Server2008R2 and then Internet Explorer 10 as previous IE via "Programs and Features".
Could any one let me know why this symptom had been happen, what issue caused this?
Also method to investigation for this issue is welcome and helpful.

I checked IE11_main.log at the server and rearise basically, previous version 9 of one server and for another server previous version 10.
I wonder why upgrade path is different between two environment of server.
Anyway could anyone let me know how to investigate?

I would say, it depends on how you manage patching/updating, in your environment.
Do you use automatic updating, in your environment?
e.g., WSUS ? or ConfigMgr?
Or, do you use windowsupdate.com and manually perform updating?
An example, if you login to a machine, and are prompted for an update/upgrade to IE, do you just do it on that machine?
Or, do you have a plan or method, where you ensure all machines are maintained/updated in the same way, by a certain person or team?
Probably, the difference in these two machines, is due to human actions :)

i have i tunes installed on my windows xp computer. i keep getting cd regsitry settings missing. i have downloaded latest itunes and repaired thru control panel twice. i'm still getting this message when i open itunes. any ideas?

Computer boots to a black screen with prompts and code!?

I have a Powerbook G4 15" 1.5GHz Aluminium.
I recently had big issues with the computer where it froze and kept crashing. The computer then completly died and i had to take it into an apple store for repair.
While it was in i had the ram slot failure repaired also (go apple!)
The technician repaired the directory structure on my hard drive but noted a program, which he thinks is XPostFacto has some how come to be installed on the system. I collected it and as soon as i got home backed up all the data i needed.
When booting the computer into OSX the startup would go to the grey screen with an Apple and the spinning gear. Then a black screen would come on and present me with a whole heap of code about the system etc the system would then proceed into OSX as normal. I managed to copy all the data i needed onto an external HDD however in the process the computer crashed multiple times.
I have now come to reformat the entire thing, i have zero'd the drives etc however even after that, when i boot from the install CD i still get this screen of code!!
I tried to install Panther and it won't work due to an error in installation..
What do i do?!?!?
I'm not too up for the idea of taking it back into the shop cause they will charge me mad prices ($120 an hour!) to fix it for me..
Any help would be awesome!
Powerbook 1.5 GHz G4 15" Aluminium Mac OS X (10.3.8)Boot from the first of the system discs (by holding down the C key until the welcome screen goes away) and, in Disc Utility, repair privileges. Not just permissions, but privileges. Then reboot at normal. That will probably fix it.
