Black screnn after driver install on 4650

Yesterday I have bought an MSI 4650 VGA card. When I tried to install the newest ATI catalyst (from ATI website) the Win XP crashed and rebooted. I succesfully installed the driver from the CD. However the screen goes black in the Windows (BIOS, Win XP logo fine). My PC: 5600+ X2 CPU, 680G MB with 1200 IGP, 2G DDR2.
I changed the first VGA card to PCIe in the BIOS.
Thank you in anticipation

  • 270X Gaming - Black screen after driver install

I just recently purchased an MSI R9 270X Twin Frozr Gaming.
I physically installed the board and booted my PC. Windows started fine, albeit in VGA mode. I then proceeded to install the latest AMD drivers for the card (13.11 Beta). I made it through installation and then rebooted. When I rebooted, I got a blank, black screen after the "Starting Windows" screen. I was unable to boot windows, so I restored to last known configuration and tried again with different drivers (13.9) with the same result.
Does anyone know why windows hangs when it loads the display driver? Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Hi everyone. I just wanted to give you an update. It seems I have resolved the problem.
After attempting other fixes (fresh Windows install, MB BIOS update, etc), flashing the BIOS of the video card fixed the problem. I used the BIOS version
015.040.000.000.002887. I believe the BIOS the card shipped with is 015.039.000.000.002887. Anyway, there are no problems now. I was able to install Catalyst 13.11 Beta 9.5 with no problems and no black screens.
I got the BIOS and ATIWinflash from TechPowerUp. I'd post links, but I am too new to the board.
    Thanks guys.

  • MBA 2012 Windows 8.1 Intel HD4000 - Black Screen after driver install.

Hi to all. I'm tried to install Windows 8.1 to my macbook air 13 2012. Everytime when I try to install drivers for HD4000 screen turns black, and stops responding. I'm tried different drivers - from bootcamp, from intel.com, from lenovo, from windows update, but all of them makes screen black, also I'm tried different version, but it still don't work.
Anybody have solution or some ideas? Thanks.
p.s. Sorry for my bad English.

Probabily the best solution but I installed this OS-crap 2 times already! And I think I am not supposed to solve HP/MS problems since I paid for this.

  • [Solved] Amilo XI 2550 - Black screen after fresh install

    Dear archlinux users,
I have been reading the archlinux wiki and forums since I started using arch several years ago. It was always possible to solve the problems I ran into by consulting these webpages, therefore a big thanks to the community for the provided help.
Two weeks ago I installed arch on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo XI 2550. The first problem I ran into was that booting the live-cd resulted in a black screen and I could not even start with installing arch. This problem was solved with the kernel parameter 'nomodeset'.
The first boot of the freshly installed arch also resulted in a black screen after the GRUB menu which was perfectly displayed. After some searching (here and here and ...) I plugged in an external monitor and it showed the login screen. I then installed KDE because I thaught the problem might not show up with X and KDE running. After the login to KDE I realized that the brightness of the laptop display is nearly black but not totally. It seems as if the brightness is at a very low level, but brightness cannot be controlled with the Fn+F8 or Fn+F9 commands. But I see a OSD that indicates that the controls are used but without effect. So at the moment it is only possible to work on the laptop with another display connected to it.
    Maybe of use:
    ls /sys/class/backlight/
    acpi_video0
    radeon_bl0
    less /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/bl_power

    Hello Trilby,
    thanks for the reply.
Trilby wrote:If nomodeset worked with the installation medium, why haven't you tried that for the same problem on your installed system?
The kernel parameter 'nomodeset' results in a working display but without X support, due to the fact that with 'nomodeset' there is no KMS support and therefore no X. But nevertheless I tried it and as expected X did not start.
Trilby wrote:Could you also post information about your graphics card and what drivers you've installed.
The graphics card is a Radeon HD 2700 and according to the above dmesg log it is recognized as RV 630. The radeon module is loaded via /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and xf86-video-ati (1:7.5.0-1) is installed.
I hope the provided information is what you asked for, thanks for your help.

  • Signal Express Program Freezes After Driver Install

    Hello,
I recently installed NI-XNET 1.4 on my machine and a few days later I went to run a signal express program that never had operational issue until after the driver install?
What could of happened to this program to cause this failure?
I have other SE programs that load effectively after the driver update but this particular one does not.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Tim

    Hi smoothdurban!  Thanks for posting!
I'd like to get a little more information from you to see if I can get your signal express programs back up and running.  First, have you changed anything in any of those programs since you were last able to run run them?  Also, have you changed any hardware in your computer recently? XNET and Signal Express exist basically independently of one another, which leads me to believe that the installation of XNET was not the issue.  However, one step to take to verify that nothing was altered in Signal Express during the XNET install would be to repair the Signal Express installation.
On a Windows machine, you'll want to go to your control panel under your start menu, then navigate to either "Add or Remove Programs" or "Programs and Features" depending on what version of Windows you are running.  You'll next want to navigate to National Instruments Software, then double-click.  Navigate through the list to find NI LabVIEW SignalExpress, then click the repiar icon in the window.  You will need the installation file you used previously to do this.
If this doesn't work, please let us know!

  • MSI R9 270X Gaming 4G Black Screen of Death after driver install...

So I recently updated the drivers and AMD catalyst to the newest version. After doing that and restarting my pc, it will load to the Windows loading screen, then to the black screen of death. When I restart under last known good configuration, I can start windows, but I don't have the drivers installed.  This is a fresh install, and no matter what I do, it ends in the same result. I've tried restoring the PC, and I can start windows again, but again. No drivers.  I can't find an older version of the drivers that worked before.  I'm just frustrated because I have 2 of the cards, and a quad display. But i can't use them...  After researching, I found that this is a common issue, But I can't seem to fix it.

From your post in another thread I guess you tried 14.4 from MSI site. Use latest official AMD one (14.12) instead: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows%208.1%20-%2064

  • MSI 2GB D5 X GTX660 GAMING desktop shows only background after driver instal

Hello all and thanks for reading,
[I'm not sure if I put the right product name down in the title but it's the mSI N660 GAMING 2GD5/OC video card]
After trying to instal the driver for my newly purchased video card the problem started. I've been trying to solve the following problem for days and at my wits end. Any help would be much appreciated!
    What I've done is
-a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate
-installed my motherboard driver from cd
-let Windows update get the first chunk of updates (around 100-150) which includes SP 1
    -installed the driver for the MSI video card, trying several; MSI Graphics driver 320.49 from this site, the NVIDIA graphics driver from this site, (both suggested for my product + Windwows 7 32bit), getting the 334.89 driver from the NVIDIA site, or getting a NVIDIA driver through Windows Upgrade. All have the same result;
The driver installs and promps a system restart. After restarting, I get through the Bios, the Windows loading screen and proceed to my desktop. I see the background, but no icons, no toolbar on the bottom of my screen, just nothing exept my mouse's position. When I rightclick, the option to show icons and such is already ticked. When I press Control+als+del I get a bland black screen with no (visible) option of taking any action or starting a command prompt. I can't do much then except do a system recovery to an earlier point.
I've been trying to solve this for many a times with different approaches, but they all net the same result. I've not found a solution through various google searches, nor found a solution in the stickes on this forum, or a search. If I overlooked one, apologies.
If anybody can help me, you'd be a godsend and I'll praise your name for days!
    Sincere regards, Thijs
I know a little about computers but am hardly an expert. Took me a while but I put together this list of my computer:
    Windows 7 Ultimate, SP 1, 32 bit
    Motherboard: ASUS/ASmobile P5 Motherboard P5B
    Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8300 2.50GH 64 bit (times 4)

Power: CoolerMaster RealPower M 520W ATX2 powersupply, I didn't see a line of 3 voltages etc mentioned on the sticker but this is the readout:

    25A            20A   19A           19A            19A            0.8A   3.5A
    I hope this is sufficient
I never tried anything with overclocking so don't think there's much too mention regarding that.

Previous to installing the driver there was none on my system, due to the clean install (to my knowledge, that is...). I´ve got Driver Fusion now, if needed in the near future.
Bios (an area I am very new to):
According to system information, my bios runs a version dated 4/11/2009
According to a downloaded program, AIDA32, my bios uses: AMI system bios dated 11/04/2009 and vbios dated 06/02/2009.
This is what the manufacturer's site mentions about different versions for my type of motherboard:
    http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/P5B-DE/?cat=Download&os=BIOS
--> I fear I don't know enough about these to know if this is horribly outdated, or not : )
Nearing 5 years is old, but according to some forums, not -too- old
    S/N of the new videocard: 602 -v287-35sb1311067308
Regarding your last question, I hope the link above gave you the file. I'm not sure how to provide it otherwise.
    You're a blessing man, thanks a lot!!

  • Thinkpad X61 screen not working after driver install?

Recently I decided to change my operating system on my Thinkpad X61 so I completly refreshed the system and installed Windows 7 . I finished the install and it seemed to boot properly . As I began to install my drivers via the Lenovo website it asked for a RESART. After restarting the PC it wouldnt show a screen . I've tried to connect to another output and that didnt work.
As for the motherboard theory I honestly dont think that is the problem because I've seen several people on several forums discuss the same problem and they've found a solution but I cant seem to get anyone to discuss what that solution was.
I am a student so I am in need of my computer so if someone could please help me as soon as possible.
Moderator note; moved to correct board

Are you really talking about X61? If so, this is the wrong forum, but regardless, here is what to do. Pull the battery out. Unplug the machine, and press the power button several times, holding it for 5 seconds the last time. Put the battery back and plug it in. Turn it on and try to boot into the BIOS. If the screen stays black, either the screen or the motherboard has died. If you can plug it into an external monitor and try again, you can tell which one it is.

  • Print Crash After Driver Install

I have found this problem already exists among other people in this forum but haven't found a solution that makes sense to me.
I installed a driver for a HP printer and since then everytime I try to print, from any application, it crashes. The problem seems to lie with my home printer as opposed to the printer i had to install the driver for. I have never installed software for my home printer it seemed to be part of the bundle with my iBook. I deleted all I could find with regard to the stuff i did install but to no good end. Its driving me mad now.
    Any help, please.
    Happy New Year
    Olly

    Hello Oliver,
When an application crashes when printing, sometimes it can be related to the permissions on certain files within your system. This can occur after an update, such as installing 10.4.8. The workaround can be to open Disk Utility and run Repair Disk Permissions.
I'm also guessing from your posting that you connect to two different HP printers. For the home printer, there are a number of provided drivers with OS X and it sounds like your model at home was one of those. It is possible that by adding the HP software for the other printer, it has impacted the files for the home printer. Usually running the Reset Printing System in the Printer Setup Utility resolves some of these problems, however the system provided drivers aren't removed and if they are damaged then you will still have the problem. Some fixes can be to download Fixamac's excellent Printer Setup Repair utility and to download the full Combo updater for the new OS from Apple.
    Regards,
    Paul

  • Broadcom-wl problems, iwlist scan is empty after driver install

I'm trying to follow this Wiki page for installing my wireless driver
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Broadcom_BCM4312
I have the card "14e4:4329 "Broadcom Corporation BCM43XG"", so i meet the requirements.
I downloaded files from http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php, since the PKGBUILD requires internet access, which i dont have.
I untar'ed the files, made the wl.ko file and put it in /lib/modules/2.6.30-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/
    # depmod -a
    # rmmod b43
    # rmmod ssb
    # modprobe lib80211_crypt_tkip
    # modprobe wl
No problems. Now when i run iwconfig eth2 is recognized as a wireless interface and it returns the usual info
But when i run iwlist eth2 scan, i get
    eth2          No scan results
My wireless adapter was working before i reformated my desktop, and my laptop can connect fine while im sitting right next to my desktop. The network I am trying to connect to has a WEP key.
    Where did i mess up?

    AngryKoala wrote:*bump*
I followed the same instructions as the OP to no avail.
    That includes the PKGBUILD.
I did the process through AUR, then I did it manually.
EDIT:  Alright.  I got it to work with ndiswrapper...
I have a Linksys WMP300N (I bought it cuz it has a huge antenna) and its drivers would not work.  So I took a portion of a dell driver and mixed it with the linksys driver and it worked with ndiswrapper.  Thanks Archers.
