Black spaces in Acrobat, text after printing

Hello, may I get help please - in some documents, there are black places in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 where after pringting is a proper text. I checked for updates, there are none available. Also, in Adobe Reader, the text (or pictures) is visible as it is after printing. The only problem then is in Adobe Acrobat. Would you know where is a problem? Thank you in advance!

Hi Alena Kol,
What os are you using? Could you please attach the snapshot of the application window so that i can look into this issue or if possible, then please send me a sample pdf at [email protected] ?
Moreover does this issue occur with this specific pdf or with all the pdf files?

Rahul

  • Hide Acrobat When/After  Printing PDF with printdialog

In Acrobat 8.0, using VB.NET while printing a PDF file with printdialog , acrobat window shows and does not close after printing.
This behavior was not present with previous versions. Are there any commands that does not show the viewer using printdialog.
Your comments would be highly appreciated

    > If you look through this entire thread you will see that the conditions you are having is not the same as many of us here.
I understand that. What you want to achieve can be simply done with Acrobat, but when limited to only the Reader ActiveX control there are limitations. You have to work within the bounds of what the control can provide.
    > However having an empty window open up that the user must close has been something new for most of us since version 8.
It is new in version 8, yes. This was done for security reasons. The reason being the possibility of malicious software being developed. I don't want to give anybody ideas for a malicious application on a public forum, but if you want a full explanation personally I would be happy to contact you.
At least this way the user knows what's happening, and your average Joe who doesn't know about task manager can still right-click in the taskbar and close Reader to solve the problem. It balances worldwide user security against a small usability feature for Acrobat SDK application developers that are limited to only developing for Reader and yet again only when using silent printing. As I'm sure you can appreciate and understand, worldwide security won that battle - Reader is a secure product and its intention is to stay that way.
Is it a nuisance? Yes, a very minor one in most cases. However, there are workarounds. If you're developing with VB, what is stopping you from moving the window offscreen during print, monitoring the print queue, and terminating the Reader thread when it is done spooling? It is extra work for the developer, yes - but the fact is, security has to be at the forefront and it is unfortunate that you as the application developer have to do extra work in order to maintain the high level of security expected by Reader users.
If you have suggestions for a secure alternative approach, I am honestly glad to hear them if you care to discuss them.

  • Export PDF InDesign to Acrobat 5 - Text display & print GLITCH- letters overlap/stack in some words

    Hello,
This is my first post, so please be gentle
I'm having an issue with certain words and linked graphics when viewing and printing PDFs exported from InDesign CS5.5 to Acrobat 5.
The glitchy words appear to have the letters stacked on top of eachother creating a garbled mess.
When I scroll up/down in Acrobat 5, the word will change appearance... sometimes okay, sometimes messed up. The document will print as it's displayed in Acrobat (good or bad).
This issue is inconsistent... sometimes the same paragraph style or graphic used in other areas of the document will never look corrupt. The ones that display this issue always waivers back & forth.
This doesn't seem to be an issue in later versions of Acrobat. However, our company still has MANY users on Acrobat 5 and exporting to later versions will cause major compatibility problems.
Can someone tell me what could be causing this issue, and how I can correct it?
    Please see attached example below.
    Software / System details:
    Operating system is Windows XP
    View / Print from Acrobat 5.0.0 (3/22/2001)
File created in InDesign CS5.5 (version 7.5.1)   <---Update 12/8/11 2:53PM EST: Upgraded to version 7.5.2... Problem persists.
Graphics created in Illustrator CS5.1 (version 15.1.0)
The graphic is a black box with white text (Arial font) created in Illustrator CS5.1, and saved as AI file. Linked in InDesign file as anchored graphic.
The text is set up in InDesign as a paragraph style with first word as a nested style. ALL text is Arial font.

    ***UPDATE 12/9/11 10:35AM EST:
When I embed the Arial font upon export from InDesign (Subset fonts when percent of characters used is less than 0%), the problem words appear okay.
Why would there be an issue subsetting Arial font? I could understand if the font was unusual, but Arial????
So, the only solutions I could come up with is either print to pdf, or export with embedding all fonts (increases file size). If anyone has a better solution, please let me know.
    Thanks, crusius2.

After a few rounds of testing various things:
I applied a Master Page of None to all the pages - and the pages exported correctly.
I reapplied all the master pages to the various pages as needed. And again it exported incorrectly.
I deleted all the Master Pages - recreated them and reapplied them - and it's all working as normal.
Cause seems to be some sort of corruption with the Master Pages.

  • Acrobat 8 Standard - Printing Tax Forms in Black - No Forms Toolbar

I have filled out some tax forms in Acrobat 8 Standard, however, the font color for the filled out text is blue, and thus prints as a hard-to-read grey when printing on the laser printer.  I've searched and the standard advice seems to be to use the forms toolbar to change the font color, but when I go to View -> Toolbars, there is no option for the Forms toolbar.
Is there any way I can get this damned text to print as black?  Seems kinda silly to have a form fill-out function that you can't print the result of!

I was very pleased to find this info too. Thanks.
But something a little more important than how to do it is why is it so hard to find? I'm sure there are many more people out there who can't find this and I think it's because it's hard to find. The intuitive functionality, offered by the Properties Bar in Acrobat, called the Control bar in Illustrator, and the Options bar in Photoshop. Acrobat also appears to be the only one in that list that doesn't contain a secondary tool pallet for each function offered by the Properties bar, found in the Window menu.
I've been through everything Tina looked at and most of them seemed like they should contain the font color, although I couldn't find the Document Colors Option. And if it turned out that you can't edit the color, why would it pick red?
So my two questions are, why is this solution so hard to find?
How do you change the default font color so you don't need the Properties bar?
Ok, I feel better now :)

  • When I export to PDF, the black text is printing in full color instead of just black

I have Pages 09 (version 4.0.5). I am exporting a document to PDF and emailing it to a copy shop for printing. The document has a color cover, and 36 pages of black text inside. The copy shop is telling me that the pages with black text are printing as color pages instead of black and white pages. I need to figure out how to get them to print black to keep costs down. Is this a problem with my file, with the PDF export, or with their print settings?
    Things I've tried...
    1. Using the color palette, I have switched to the color sliders mode and changed all the text to CMYK with 100% black and 0% everything else. I have also tried changing it to grayscale with 0% brightness. Neither of these seemed to have an effect.
    2. I downloaded the trial version of Adobe Acrobat Pro and converted the PDF to grayscale. This worked, but it's only a temporary solution.
    Any other ideas?

    Peter,
It's a pretty safe assumption that your average Joe isn't using text styles, but in this case you're talking to a guy who has worked as both a prepress technician and a graphic designer in a former life. I just don't have all the software of the trade at this point in my life. If I did, I sure wouldn't be messing with Pages and Preview. Although overall I'm pretty impressed with them, considering what they are.
Anyway, I am using text styles and I made sure to update them all. The PDF still came out with the rich black color. I have a feeling Pages' PDF exporter automatically converts all black to that four-color rich black on the assumption that you'll want it. I wouldn't care, especially since I'm just printing at a copy shop with no special quality requirements, except that we're printing hundreds of these things every week, and the full color prints more than double the cost.
Thanks for the help, guys! It looks like filtering the PDF through Preview will do the trick. If anybody can confirm a way to do this directly in Pages, I would appreciate not having to go through the extra steps.

  • Some prints have black stripes instead of text

Sometimes when I print a pdf, the printouts contain black stripes instead of text.

    Still the same results.
Do you have any ideas what could be the reason for that problem?

This type of result is often due to errors in the HP printer drivers. Several things can be tried. Sometimes, using a tested driver for an older, but compatible printer will do the job. A lot of folks used the use the HPLJ2 driver even with HPLJ3 and 4 systems. Another option is to try to print as a graphic. At this point, I can only suggest playing around with things. A lot of folks like the graphic driver aspect instead.
You might also consider printing to the printer in a PS mode rather than PCL if that option is available.
I am only suggesting things I have seen tried by various folks. I don't have a good explanation.

  • After installing Yosemite my fax is sending black pages with white text

I used to send faxes with my Panasonic KX-MB2020 using Prewiew program. With Mavericks faxes were good. After installing Yosemite, my recepients started to tell that they get "negatives" - black pages with white text. Fax machine is ok - if I print a documet and then send it to the same recepient without my notebook, it goes well.
    Please check this bug.

Furthermore, before now, my Panasonic easily scanned documents directly, with pressing "Scan" button on the machine. Now this operation is impossible - I have to launch Printer properties on my Mac, and from this window I have to start scanning.

  • After printing a form for years (in black), it will now only print in RED. Other docs ok.

After printing a form for years (in black), it will now only print in RED.   In printing another document, no problem.
I tried highlighting the text and changing the font color to black - no luck.

Please read this post then provide some details. What printer model? What operating system? How is the printer connected - USB, wired LAN, Wireless LAN, bluetooth?
Most likely whatever program you are using to print the forms is treating the text as a grapphic and the printer is making black by mixing cyan, magenta and yellow.  If your text is priting as red it would indicate that you are likely low on cyan ink.

    Hi hlolrich,
According to the description, you want to remove the shapes which created after you print the presentaion.
I suggest that you name the shape you added with some rule, then we can delete thease shapes via the name rule.
And here is a sample that you delete the shapes which name contains the
myShape words on the first slide for your reference:
    Sub deleteShapes()
    For Each aShape In Application.ActivePresentation.Slides(1).Shapes
    If InStr(aShape.Name, "myShape") Then
    aShape.Delete
    End If
    Next aShape
    End Sub

  • Acrobat 9 - PDF doesn't open after print

After updating Acrobat 9, my PDF printer was renamed to "Adobe PDF (Copy 1)" and after printing, the created PDF does not open automatically. How can I change the setting back to have the PDF open after printing?
I tried renaming the printer to "Adobe PDF".  There is only one PDF printer.  I checked the settings of the printer, and believe them to be correct.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I do not know why you have a copy of the Adobe PDF printer. The original Adobe PDF printer is used for printing to a PDF and the settings are found in the properties under the settings tab. You might have to select the advanced button on the general tab first. Some of the properties require stepping into another level of menus.

Good day. My officejet 6310 has started printing a 3/8" solid black line instead of text. I've replaced both color and black cartridges. I've also run align and clean cartridges. Does anyone have helpful suggestions?

  • PDFs printing with black background and white text.

For some reason some of our PDF's have been printing with black backgrounds and white text, even though they appear to be normal on the screen before they are printed. I haven't been able to confirm 100% yet but it appears to only be happening with pdfs that were created from scanned documents.
Can somebody please offer me some suggestions.

Absolutely agree with the original poster.  I find white text on black background so very very difficult (I changed from using Tweetbot on iOS to Tweetlogix for this very reason) and it physically hurts my eyes to try to read it.  I can just about manage with Spotify using white text on a black background on the large screen of my MacBook Pro - and I do mean "just" - but for the smaller screen of my iPhone 5 it is just impossible.  Even with a retina screen such as that on the iPhone 5S there is a strange ghosting effect and it gives me a headache to look at it for too long.
This may be something to do with age!  I suspect most app developers are youngsters with almost perfect eyesight, but for those of us whose eyesight is less than perfect, this white text on black background really is so very difficult.
I know there is a workaround in setting the iPhone to invert ALL colours (under Accessibility in Settings) but it's a real pain to have to keep altering this setting every time I want to open or close Spotify, and it doesn't look right anyway.  iOS7 is supposed to be a light, bright, easy to read OS - sadly this new Spotify app is the opposite of that.
Please would Spotify consider adding a simple light or dark theme option, so that those of us who want it can have our much easier to read light background back again, with grey or black text?  It would be a great help to those of us who have eyesight problems.
If not, I may have to cancel my Spotify Premium account and move to Deezer instead, as I mainly use Spotify when out and about in the car, so am using the iOS app a lot.
Thank you for considering this plea!

  • Removing / cropping black space after stabilizing

i am so new to this that i should read more but i am anxious to see this video stabilized. is there an easy way to 'stabilize' the vid i.e removing the black space created after stabilizing or is this a frame by frame crop?

right. i did the simple crop but that was also compromising size. I just did the smooth layer resize and correct the compromise is too great. I lose almost 1/8 at the bottom at one point (to black screen) and the same applies to the top (at a different point obviously). I was hoping for a 'smart' crop that would, per frame- adjust with the movement and resize the footage for a consistent size. so, in fact less compromise is where i remain.

  • Photoshop/Acrobat will not print black- ?

    Hi,
I'm working on a Macbook with Leopard, using CS3. I recently started using a HP Officejet Pro K8600 printer (inkjet, CMYK cartridges). My problem is that when printing out of Photoshop and Acrobat, any black items are outputting as gray- I'm assuming that the printer is creating a composite black out of the color inks instead of using the black ink cartridge. This is not a problem when printing out of Illustrator (blacks look great). Any ideas?
I have tried running Photoshop in Rosetta mode, deleting the Preferences file, and several different print and Photoshop dialogue settings. Photoshop, Acrobat and the printer driver are all updated. I'm running out of options and Adobe technical support had no solution either. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
