"black spot" next to trackpad won't go away...?

hi all!
got a new macbook pro a few weeks ago,and took it to a trip oversea, thrilled!
but something odd is happening to the surface of the laptop,on the lower left side of the trackpad,i would say about 3/4 inch.
after taking my macbook pro out of my backpack, after opening it up i noticed this black point, charcoil like,at the location i described, and am a bit puzzled by it.
some of the "black stuff" came out upon cleaning it,but i have this spot tattooed to the metal surface, and it happened a second time again?
won't go away!
anybody have any idea what that is,anybody with the same situation?
i have been using mac for over a decade, and have never seen anything like it!
thanks!

I'm not sure they would voluntarily offer to do anything for you. You could, if it is within your FIrst year, or within your Apple Care coverage, ask them to replace it or repair it. It's under warranty so it would be a free replacement -- BUT -- you could be without your MBP for a week or so while they do that. If it's not repairable they will swap it out for another one -- but it's going to be a refurb, not a brand new MBP.
On every silver/aluminum MBP i have owned, I have always gotten wear on the left side where the palm rests, wether or not I have worn a watch or not. I just wear it as a badge of honor for the thousands of hours of MBP usage I put into the machine -- still, I understand how annoying it is.

  • My Macbook Pro I guess downloaded the new update while I was asleep and now this black screen that is speaking won't go away.

While I was asleep I believe my Macbook Pro downloaded some new software, I turned it on this morning and now I have this black screen with letter inside of it that says whatever is inside of it to me. It is very annoying as if I am online it will describe everything to me and move my screen. I am a student and cannot work or research when my computer does this. Can someone please help me figure out how to get rid of this?

  • IPod 4th gen screen lifting and black spot, what do I do?

Ok so like 2 months ago my iPod 4th gen screen started lifting. I was like woah I have to get that fixed but the weird part was that I had never dropped it. Also after a while it started getting a black spot right next to where it was lifting. I ignored it at first because it was small but then it started getting bigger. My case has kept it together but to clean it I have to take it off and when I snapped it back on the corner where it was lifting cracked. I don't know if this was something like they didn't put on the screen right but I don't wanna have to pay so much to fix something that they did if it was their fault. Help please what do I do
    Would the warranty cover this?

If the iPod was not abused it is covered by the warranty.

  • MacBook Pros and the case getting black spots?

My old PB17 had all sorts of problems with the area around the keypad starting to get "black spots" after a few months of use.
I got the case replaced once because I complained about it, and then put a pad-thingie around the trackpad, where I rest my palms. So it is pristeen right now and for when I sell or give away the old one.
Now that my new MacBook Pro has I arrived I was wondering: these cases looks the same as the old PB - so do they have the same "black holes in the aluminum" problem?

Yup, MacBook Pro's are affected by this. Mine is having quite the significant problem with these little speckles.

  • Black spot on the iphone 5S

Hi, i've got almost one moth ago the iphone 5s, and has a black spot on the right side. i dont know what could be, so if someone has the same problem, could help me!?

If this is damage from misuse it is not covered. Otherwise it is covered. It does not matter the Apple Store vs other store for purchase location, the 1 year Warranty is identical. Next time you go to Apple Store ask to see the store manager.

  • My Pearl keeps restarting and the trackpad won't work!

My new Pearl 9100 keeps freezing and then restarting on itself. It's super annoying because this happens about every hour. When it restarts the entire trackpad won't work, even the button. The only way I've been able to get it to work again is to restart it until it does! It usually takes about 7 restarts until the entire trackpad will work, then it restarts again.
Is there any suggests on what I should do? And I'm still on warrenty but Bell said they couldnt do anything about it

Have you already tried the following steps to reload your device software ?
    1. Verify that the Desktop Manager and BlackBerry Device Software are installed on the computer.
    2. Remove the battery from the BlackBerry. Do not re-insert.
    3. Connect the BlackBerry to the computer.
    4. On the BlackBerry Desktop Manager main screen, click Application Loader.
    5. Click Start.
    6. Click Options to select applications to be installed.
    7. Click Next.
    8. Click Next.
    9. Click Finish.
    10. When the application load starts, re-insert the battery into the BlackBerry.

  • Black spotting and scratches on the aluminum?

When I went to pick up my reserved iPhone 4 yesterday, the aluminum band that surrounds the phone had a black spot, similar to the spots which start appearing on aluminum MacBook Pros. There were also some small scratches on the aluminum. This is right out of the box.
Do other people have black spotting or scratches on the aluminum fresh out of the box?
I refused to take it. And surprisingly SoftBank (the iPhone distributor here in Japan) wouldn't open another to see if it had the same problem. So I was forced to cancel my order after waiting 2 weeks for it.
What do other peoples' iPhone 4s look like? Are there spots or scratches on the aluminum right out of the unsealed box?
    Thanks,
    doug

I didn't want to actually accept the phone and then bother trying to find a place to exchange it. I knew I couldn't do it there at the Softbank store (Softbank is the carrier here in Japan) because they wouldn't even open a 2nd box for me to see if another one was better.
So my choice was to accept the one they offered me or just cancel. Rather than go through the hassle of accepting it and then going over to, say, Apple Store Ginza and go through a whole big thing there I just canceled on the spot and retained my iPhone 3G.
Now all Apple or Softbank will say is start over again by going in to a Softbank store (or Apple store) and make another reservation.
That seems sort of silly. So what happens if I wait another 2 weeks and there is a problem the next time they open the box? I have to cancel and then re-order again?
Plus the free bumper campaign will be over in 3 days anyway.
It seems crazy to make the customer just run around in circles like that rather than simply opening up another box and getting a new iPhone without spots and scratches on it!

  • There is a growing black spot on my iPod touch 4 screen. Help please.

One day it was fine then in the afternoon a black spot appeared. I did not drop it or do anything out of the ordinary. The next day it changed shapes. Then it changed shape again and the following day it grew. Any ideas?

I recall one other user reporting a similar problem.
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • The Apple trackpad won't except the "pinch open and close" command on Firefox version 4. It is configured correctly in the system preferences. HELP!

I am using the Apple trackpad with Firefox version 4. The trackpad won't "pinch open and close". It is configured correctly in the system preferences. It also worked in version 3. Anyone have any suggestions?

Do the related browser.gesture prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page still have a value set for those gestures?
Which Firefox function should be performed with those gestures?
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • Magic Trackpad won't work with Magic Mouse on brand new 2011 27" i5 iMac

I have a brand new 2011 27" i5 iMac which I bought with Snow Leopard pre-loaded. Naturally, I included the new Magic Trackpad in my purchase, and though there were some problems with the device in SL - such as it going haywire without explanation - it generally worked, although battery levels were erratic (one day 80%, then an hour later 42%, then 80% again).
When I installed Lion I did a clean install after backing up to Time Machine - and a Super Dupered external drive. I had some difficulties trying to install Lion from an external flash drive so I deleted again and reinstalled SL, then reinstalled over the SL install I did (with no other software except Mac OS X 10.6.8 and other system updates to facilitate install). Rather than copying apps from my old SL drive, I downloaded fresh copies and reinstalled one by one. I don't use a lot of apps apart from Microsoft Office, browsers and iLife and have not installed any additional scripts, extensions or add-ons (like USB Overdrive). It's a pretty clean install.
Since then, although I'm generally happy with Lion, the Magic Trackpad won't work! It does work for a little while with basic gestures - mainly moving the cursor and scrolling - then it gives up the ghost and loses connectivity. I have done the following:
Disconnected and reconnected the MTP after turning it on and off. MTP works for about two minutes, goes crazy then no response.
Shut the computer down, pulled out the plug, waited two minutes, then started up again. MTP works for about two minutes, goes crazy then no response.
Run Onyx, shut down computer, then pulled out plug (see above).
Checked options in Universal Access, shut off "Ignore other devices when trackpad in use" (or whatever the option is). MTP works for about two minutes, goes crazy then no response.
Turned off the Magic Mouse. MTP works for about two minutes, goes crazy then no response.
But none of this seems to work! I know the MTP is connected because I can see it in the BT menu in the menu bar and also in System Preferences. I have noticed since upgrading that my permissions - which when I bought the computer were totally clean - now run lines and lines about "Library/Core Services" so I am unsure whether this is related. I also notice a lot of people are in the same boat as me, which makes me wonder if it's either a hardware issue or a release issue - after a week or so of totally silent running, my 2TB Hitachi HDD started up with the grumbly tum. I'd really appreciate any tips from anyone out there!

    Hi, marksaner
You could try installing the latest version of the Synaptics driver. Synaptics is the company that makes the UltraNav driver and drivers for many other computer brands. This driver should have the same functionality as the UltraNav driver, so there's no worry there. You can find the driver here.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam

    Hi guys.
I've had my MacBook Pro for 2 years now. Last night it suddenly kept glitching to a dark grey screen every now and then, then it would flash yellow / blue spots, and now it won't go past the grey screen even when I reboot it.
I don't think I can access my disk anymore as I've moved across countries since I've first gotten my laptop.  it was working perfectly fine before  it kept going to the dark grey screen with a little blue on the bottom.
If it helps, my camera light is still on, and it seems that my computer is working properly itself, but won't go past this grey screen.
I'm a college student and am really panicking about this - can anyone please tell me what to do?
Thank you &amp; sorry for the long post.

What operating system are you running on it? (iOS 5.1 is for iPhone, iPad...not a Mac).

Hi, I'm dealing with a very strange problem with black spots while using a remoteapp. See the picture for the black spots. It's only happening when I use the MS Remote Desktop App on a mac (version 8.0.12, latest version of the appstore).
The RDS enviroment that we're using is Server 2012 R2 based with all the RD roles installed on several servers. Has someone any idea where to look? I've tried several things, LAN experience on the RD Web access disabled, new user without roaming profile,
nothing works. Sorry for the big picture...
