Black spot on ear speaker

Hello...There is a black spot just behind the wire mesh of the ear speaker. It looks like a output of voice of the ear speaker. But I havent noticed till now.I m wondering if you have the same spot in your iphone 4....

I'm not sure how anything can look like "a ouput of voice of the ear speaker".  If it is working to your satisfaction, I would stop examining it.

  • Small Grey Mark Appeared on Black Part of the Screen (near ear speaker)

I wonder if anyone can help me?
I am very fussy when it comes to my gadgets and keeping them cosmetically perfect from new, so when upgrades come etc I am able to sell on at the best price I can get.
I have a 3G and have owned it for about 3 months. I have kept the phone is a Incase Slider since new to stop the classic apple scratches on the back and the bezel. (I can't understand why Apple use such bad materials that scratch almost just by touching them!)
Has anyone noticed their iphone developing very small dust like marks on the top face by the ear speaker? Mine has one which is very very small but can't see what would have caused this, it's definately not a scratch, more of a very small grey bit that won't wipe off with the supplied cleaning cloth. It's very strange, it looks like a bit of dust but when you go to wipe it, it just stays there, I think it could be part of the black top screen is peeling perhaps.
Has anyone else found any weird looking marks that are don't seem to be on the outside of the screen?
As I said above, I'm very fussy and try very hard to keep my iphone is perfect condition, I've never put it in pocket with keys, money, credit cards etc etc so I'm baffled as to what this strange looking mark is? It's also way to high to be an earing etc.
Can anyone shed any light on this at all?
    Thanks very much,
    very fussy apple customer!!
    Thanks

you should return the device to a nokia care center for inspection
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • IPhone keeps dying, not turning on, hot near ear speaker, red light glowing

After having used the iPhone 4 without problems since its release last month, I am now experiencing a bug since I've installed iOS 4.0.1. The symptoms are:
    1. I can see a dim red light above the ear speaker after turning on the phone and even for a while (many seconds if not minutes) after locking it. I suspect that this red light is related to the proximity sensor.
    2. The proximity sensor is not working any more, i.e. when I make a phone call and hold the phone to my head, the display stays on and the pad keeps sensing touches.
    3. For the second time within two days, the phone doesn't turn on any more, i.e. it remains black on the screen, does not appear on USB (i.e. not seen in iTunes nor in System Profiler), and doesn't even respond to a hard reset (holding home and lock buttons for about 10 seconds), while the aforementioned red light keeps glowing, and the area there getting warm.
So far, the only way to get the phone back to being operational is to get it into DFU mode (which involves a more complex set of pressing buttons) and then restore it from a backup. Unfortunately, when I do this I lose all the pictures I've made since the last backup (already lost a few this way).
It appears that this problem is related to a wrongdoing of the proximity sensory unit. Funny though, that I had never any problems before the 4.0.1 update, whereas this update was supposed to fix a proximity sensor issue, wasn't it? For me, this update appears to rather have broken it.
I'll see that I can have this phone replaced by Apple soon, just though I'd record this odd behavior in case others see this happening, too.
If you have the same issue, please mention if it started only after the 4.0.1 update for you, too.

That little red light means the phone has water damage, did you drop it in water or something?
Um not, there isn't a "light" for water sensors, they are stickers that just change color from white to red/pink. No electricity about them. One in doc, one in headphone jack (not under earpiece).
He is seeing a sensor (it doesn't turn on and glow, just reflecting light and has always been there).

  • IPhone 4 ear speaker not working after 2 restores and cleaning the headphone socket.

    Hi,
I know this problem is not uncommon, but here goes...
I have an iPhone 4 which was running iOS 5.1.1 a few days ago when the ear speaker stopped working.  I cant hear the other person when I make or recieve a call, but nothing else is wrong with the phone.  It is 18 months old.
I've searched the discussions and seen some of the suggestions.  I tried cleaning out the headphone socket, with no luck.  I then tried a full restore and update to iOS 6.  This appeared to have worked.  I tried 2 calls and I could hear the other person.  I then left the phone alone for a couple of hours and when I tried it again, it had stopped working again.
I have since done another full restore but the speaker is still not working at all.  The fact that it worked after the first restore suggests it's something simple or software related but I have no idea what else to try other than getting it repaired in a shop.  The problem is I am in Japan where my network (Softbank) and an independent repair shop have both quoted me the equivalent of $176 / £110 to fix it.
Does anyone know anything else I can try before I give in and end up shelling out this ridiculous cost for something that is probably a 20 minute fix?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I have the exact same problem with my ear speaker after my IOS 6 upgrade. My speakers work, bluetooth works, the earphones work, but the ear speaker doesn’t work. I noticed this IMMEDIATELY after the upgrade was completed. I also have the following problems:
-Very slow call connect time. 30 - 45 seconds just to connect is typical. Signal strength is 5 bars (ATT)
    -Problems attaching to known networks
-Very slow internet browsing with many timeouts on both the ATT 3G service and known Wi-Fi networks.
    - My camera was missing after the IOS 6 upgrade. I restored that from Restrictions inside of the Settings App
    - Music was so screwed up it was easier to just restore it
I went to the Apple store hoping to get some support. Between my wife, my son, and myself we have purchased 4 iPhones and an iPad over the last few years with plans to purchase another iPad in a month or so. So it’s not like I' not familiar with Apple Technology and their typical level of support.
The individual who waited on me was rude and condescending. He insisted that all of the problems were hardware related or ATT’s fault, or my fault. He further asserted that IOS 6 had NOTHING to do with any of the problems. I pointed out that it would be quite a coincidence for my hardware to break, for ATT to have network problems, and for me to suddenly forget how to use an iPhone at the same exact moment that IOS 6 had been installed. He maintained his position and offered to sell me another phone.
I don’t expect the folks in the store to reprogram the OS. Mistakes happen. I’m going to guess that Apple’s OS programmers are already working on a fix for many of the IOS 6 complaints that are easy to find on Google. Assigning blame to the customer and denying any responsibility is not a model for success or customer service. I’m sure Apple wouldn’t accept that kind of excuse from their component manufacturers and don’t think it is how they should deal with their customers. Further, Apple wants to own the device. They want to control the apps, the OS, battery, the delivery channel. I’m good with that so long as when there is a problem, they own that as well.
And BTW… I’m not including the maps in my list of issues with IOS 6 because I kind of like the new maps and am willing to give Apple the benefit of the doubt. I believe that their map service will get a lot better in a hurry.

  • IPhone 4 ear speaker not working

Looking for more info regarding this problem..
Purchased iPhone 4 for my wife and I last month.
My iPhone ear-speaker went dead, but the external speaker, plug-in wired ear-phones work, and mic still work.
I went to take it in, and then the darn thing started working again. lol  Same thing happened early this week - not working, then it started working again.
Now my wife's iPhone 4 is starting to do the same thing. argh!
Not really sure if it's hardware or software.. but anyone else on this forum experiencing this same problem?

Yes. My Bluetooth on my iPhone 4 is enabled (to sync with my car).
But my wife's iPhone 4's Bluetooth is not.
I Googled this "ear-speaker problem" and found a few other reports, but no solutions (on Apple support forums).
Just wondering if the people of this forum encountered the same thing.. thanks for your fast reply !

  • After upgrading to iOS5 - phone ear speaker is NOT working

Well, my excitement from upgrading to the new iOS5 on my iPhone 4 gave way to frustration when I found out that the phone's built-in ear speaker is no longer working. Tried everything from a hard reset, to re-syncing with iTunes, playing around with every setting I could find, and a few "fixes" I found online that were absolutely useless and did nothing.
This only appears to happen when making or receiving phone calls (and listening to voice mail) - when I select speaker, all audio plays normally, but clicking back over to headset, and nothing. Earbuds also work okay.
Prior to installing iOS5 this problem did not exist in the least.
Apple - I am going to ASSUME you properly beta tested this OS on ALL compatible devices prior to its release, did you not? Apparently (from my web searching) I am not the only person suffering this malfunction with their iPhone after upgrading to iOS5.
Is there anyone out there that has figured out a way to fix this, or am I just screwed? I don't know how to revert back to iOS 4.3.3 if that's even possible at this point.  This is a phone I use for work, and I need to have this functioning properly.
    Please help. Anyone... thank you.

I'm having exactly the same problem with my iPhone 4. Since the upgrade to IOS5, I've noticed I can no longer hear calls through the ear-piece, though using the speaker phone option works fine.
I took my phone to the  Apple Store in Sydney and they advised that the problem was related to my sim card & that I should contact my telco for a replacement. I seriously didn't believe the Apple rep when she said this, but politely said thanks, went home and tried it out by swapping my sim with my wife's.
Guess what... it didn't make the slightest difference.
My wife has an iPhone 4 still running IOS4 and the ear-piece works fine. I even put my sim card into her phone and it worked fine as well. So the issue is definitely not related to the sim card.
It sounds like a common issue affecting a lot of iPhone 4 users that have upgraded to IOS5. I'm surprised Apple hasn't acknowledged this and have a patch available to correct (it doesn't sound like a hardware issue).
Anyway, looks like a trip back to the Apple store for more great suggestions.

  • IPod 4th gen screen lifting and black spot, what do I do?

Ok so like 2 months ago my iPod 4th gen screen started lifting. I was like woah I have to get that fixed but the weird part was that I had never dropped it. Also after a while it started getting a black spot right next to where it was lifting. I ignored it at first because it was small but then it started getting bigger. My case has kept it together but to clean it I have to take it off and when I snapped it back on the corner where it was lifting cracked. I don't know if this was something like they didn't put on the screen right but I don't wanna have to pay so much to fix something that they did if it was their fault. Help please what do I do
    Would the warranty cover this?

If the iPod was not abused it is covered by the warranty.

  • Black spots with RemoteApps using the Microsoft Remote Desktop on a mac

Hi, I'm dealing with a very strange problem with black spots while using a remoteapp. See the picture for the black spots. It's only happening when I use the MS Remote Desktop App on a mac (version 8.0.12, latest version of the appstore).
The RDS enviroment that we're using is Server 2012 R2 based with all the RD roles installed on several servers. Has someone any idea where to look? I've tried several things, LAN experience on the RD Web access disabled, new user without roaming profile,
nothing works. Sorry for the big picture...

  • Black spots when taking a picture

When I take photos or videos, two black spots appear at the screen, this just happens when taking a photo or video so I guess that it might be something with the camera. I would like to know why is this happening and if there is any solution. This is really annoying so please help me,
    Pablo

Are the spots in the same places every time? Do you have an example picture?

  • Droid 4 ear speaker will not work / possible software issue

My droid 4's ear speaker has not been working. If I go to make a call, I cannot hear anything unless I put it on speaker phone.
I do not believe this is a hardware issue however because everytime I restart my phone, the ear speaker will work for a couple of calls I make (and sound just fine) and then randomly stop working.
I was wondering if I had any other options before attempting a hard reset. Has anyone else had issues with this and found out what was causing the problem? whether its from a crazy app or from something being disabled?
The only 'trouble shooting' I can find on this websites says to put it into safe mode (which the ear speaker will work in safe mode) and then to start deleting apps to see which one is causing the problem. This seems rather 'clunky' and I'd rather just reset the whole thing if no one has any other suggestions....as it would take me all day to figure out what app is causing the problem...assuming that it even is an app and not something that has somehow been disabled.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • Black Spots on Lumia 1020, this one is like a Mark...

I know there are lot of posts on the same issue, the reasons still i am posting this here is for some clarifications.
Is this a Issue with the Screen Display?
is this common for all AMOLED screens of 1020?
only few complain on this? Rest of the users are getting out of box no issues of any sort with display.
I have bought this online, and i have 30 days return policy.
can some please Suggest me? does replacement guarantee that i dont get a similar device, because everyone are saying its AMOLED thing,  Please advice.
Please Note, this is visible only during Complete darkness in the room, during nights, GLANCE screen makes it visible, CORTANA screen Makes it Visible and some Third party App screens with Greyish or blackish backgrounds makes it Visible.
This is annoying and takes of the experience of having this awesome device.
Is this COMMON or RARE Situation what i have, sorry i did not use proper punctuation and grammar as i am sad and confused.

Hi Prashanth, I got replacement yesterday and this one is better than the previous one. i hardly  see any spots with naked eye during regular use under low light conditions, if i focus during the night on black screen i see few tiny specs. but they dont bother me anymore while watching videos or in pitch black env.
i am not gonna care much now, and make peace with this replacement, learnt that its very hard to get a AMOLED screen with zero black spots.
    Hope it helps.
