Black stitching lines

I'm used to white stitching lines, but in this document I've got black ones.  This is what the PDF looks like:
And zoomed right in to 6400%:
But the Indesign document looks like this:
The vector graphic in question is from a PDF (that looks the same) that someone else made in CS3.  I opened the PDF in Illustrator and copied the vector into Indesign CS5.  The black lines go away when I turn off smooth line art in Acrobat prefs so I assume it will print OK.  It's just disconcerting me a bit that they're black not white and I haven't flattened the PDF.

I should have thought to try it first but when I started playing around with it as you suggested I found an identical shape underneath it but black!  Peter was right, it had a stroke, but I'd already checked that, it was just this phantom shape in the background.
I realise it's not best practise to put the vector natively in Indesign but I wanted to be able to change the colour quickly without firing up Illustrator.  I'll do the decent thing and make a proper AI file for the next person.

  • Black horizontal lines on start up and doesn't load GUI

    So here it goes
My Late '11 15inch Macbook Pro went bonanas today. When it starts up there all these black horizontal lines running across the screen jiggering jabbering everywhere and I see three apple logos (due to GPU glitch I am guessing) after loading everything goes white and my laptop heats up and battery dies within like half an hour. I was bummed but then like after restarting a bunch of times and recharging my laptop it starting up normal again! I was super happy, but then it experienced the same crash next time the battery died. So, this has been going on and off; I don't know whats going on but it seems fixable I just want to know how.

Probably by replacing the logic board.  I suggest that you take the MBP to an Apple store genius bar for a FREE evaluation .  Then you will be in a position to make an informed decision.
    Ciao.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 Leaves a black horizontal line while copying

HP Officejet Pro 8500  Leaves a black horizontal line while copying . It can print fine, but whenever we make copies (black, or color) we get a straight horizontal line running across the page. I'ts a perfect line, no streaks, nothing i do can fix it, any ideas?

Are you putting the copies through the auto feeder?   If so, you might want to clean the roller and the glass that it would roller over.  I also clean the white bar that is on the bottom of the cover.
I have the same issue but it is white line when I am scanning.

  • Stitch lines created in a PDF/X-1a due to transparency flattening during export from InDesign

Has there been any sure fire methods to avoid the digital stitch lines created in a PDF/X-1a due to transparency flattening during export from InDesign? If I attempt to edit the PDF using the Acrobat Edit Text and Graphics tool the PDF is actually carved into sectors and images are not selectable as a whole. Also contrary to what I have read those white lines do indeed image from time to time. I could export as PDF/X4 to preserve the transparency but on occasion it would be advantageous to flatten it before supplying to the printer. Currently using CC and have done the usual things in an attempt to avoid the lines such as all text above transparent objects on a separate layer and 'Clip-Complex-Region' on export.
    Thanks in Advance!

If the default High Res flattener preset is stitching make a custom preset that's all rasters and use it in the advanced tab of the PDF/X-1a preset

  • White and black vertical lines

I Have the iPhone 5. It has been in a case since the day I bought it. It is 2 months out of warranty and I got white and black vertical lines while I was laying in bed. My friend tried checking my screen and replaced it with a working screen and it did the same thing so it wasn't the screen. Took my phone to Apple they said it's the screen and I have to pay $130 to fix it even with it out of warranty..... Lady standing next to me had the same problem they plugged it in fixed it and she was on her way with it. What is wrong with my phone? What should I do?

and one more thing, itunes cannot read my device i did that for 20-30 sec but it won't turn on

Try resetting your phone by holding down the home and off button until the apple symbol comes up. Then if still doing, restore your phone in itunes from your backup.

  • Pdf stitch lines, now visible in channels

    Hello.
Having recently updated to Creative Cloud, I've notice that the pdf stitch lines scenario has changed somewhat.
I am aware that, for many years now, when exporting a pdf (Acrobat 4 PDF 1.3) any transparency layers within the artwork result in very thin white lines being visible on the file.
I had sent thousands of artwork out to press in that way, and was confident that the lines would not print.
One of the ways I would put clients minds at ease though would be to rasterize the file into Photoshop, save as a jpg and hey~presto, said lines are all gone.
Now, (since CC update)  if I rasterise a pdf, the lines do show! They're there in the channels, ok albeit very faintly, but they are there.
If I flatten, and save as a jpg, they're visible.
Has anyone else noticed this since the CC update? I'm still new to it, so I'm sure some of you have.
Just hoping someone can put my mind at ease, and say they're ok and still will not print.
Below is the cyan channel, rasetrized in Photoshop
Iam using InDesign CC, on a mac 10.9.1

No, I don't think so. There is a export to pdf section. Which I use most of the time.
I also tried to export a postcript file, and then the pdf version 1.3 can be selected in Distiller after. Unfortunatley this produces the same result.
Since asking this question on here, I have posed the same query to a few of the printers that I use. They are quite sure the lines won't print when they output from the pdf.
The thing is I can't print from a pdf properly on our desktop printer here, hence why I rasterize to output proofs. I'm thinking this is where my problem stems from, something to do with how Photoshop recognizes the flattened pdf file.
    Thanks for your replies Phillip.

  • Black horizontal line

Last week I bought a 2013 macbook air and already in the last few days I've had a couple of occasions where I saw a a few black horizontal lines across the screen.  Last time it happend for a couple of seconds when the laptop was coming back up from sleep.  Is this normal? Or should I take it back to get it swapped?

  • Small Black Vertical Lines follow my mouse pointer AND surround all ICONS

Small Black Vertical Lines follow my mouse pointer AND surround all ICONS on my desktop. I just turned on my computer and it showed like this. I already tested my monitor and it's not the monitor.
See a picture of my problem here on my me gallery:
    http://gallery.me.com/egarfias/100024
Looking at websites, it's fine the display but any icons and my pointer and things that move have these lines following! Looking at VIDEO, it's the picture is full of white and black lines though you can see the video just fine.
    Any ideas? Thank you!!

I am in Safe Mode now: This is the weirdest thing: A bit from column A AND B:
The display is perfect EXCEPT for two parallel lines of 17, 3 millimeter-long black lines that follow the pointer everywhere it goes.
Get this: my current display is 1024x768, but when I change it to 640x480, the pointer and everything is perfect! (of course, I can only see a fraction of my desktop)
But then again... when I zoom in and out holding down control (in 640x480) the pointer lines appear again, but less lines. They disappear when I re-reset it to 640.
    Strange.
But yeah, safe mode is NEAR perfect with the except of the cursor lines. I can screen grab my cursor though to show...

  • Black Vertical lines and a thin yellow haze in the center of my screen

I can't seem to find the answer to this question, or one that my be a solution. I recently discovered black vertical lines and a yellow haze in the center of my ipod nano 4GB.
One discussion said I should put it to sleep for 4 hours and the lines will erase. That didn't work. What's the common cause to this and how can I fix it? And could it be because I converted it from a mac to windows itunes?

Try giving it a reset. hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and see if that fixes it.

  • Actual solutions for C6380 black vertical lines ?

When copying or scanning on my C6380 all-in-one, black vertical lines that are generated from the hinge-side of the glass appear on my documents. While this problem has been posted and re-posted over and over again the only responses I've found have been to clean the glass and inside of the cover.  I have done this several times. I have also reinstalled the driver and unplugged the power cable from the both the printer itself and the outlet. The lines do not occur when printing Pages or Numbers or web-generated documents.  Any suggestions?
I have a hunch that the only solution is to put up with the lines or but a new copier/scanner.

You can give a try to the Troubleshooting steps in this link:

Resets should work. Seems like a scanner bulb issue.
I work for HP but my posts and replies are my own.

  • Acrobat Reader X sometimes prints heavy black hoizontal lines.

About 30% of the time Adobe Reader X prints heavy black horizontal lines across many sections of the page.   The lines start close to the left edge of the page and continue to the right side of the page, introducing more and more lines until the block in some cases is almost an inch wide.
This happens regardless of the physical printer selected.
Subsequent printing of the same page produces a differnt black line pattern, never repeated, no reduction on number of lines, and I can never get a clearly printed page.
I can re-generate the PDF from the base application and yet another pattern of  black lines print.

Sorry for partial documentation of the problem.
OS = Win XP SP3 with all current fixes.
    Reader 10.0.1,
Checked for updates - none available.
Using TurboTax by Intuit to create PDF's, so I can't post a troublesome PDF.
The behavior happes on HP LaseJet 1022  and HP LaserJet 5P

First try a reset. Next if it's brand new I'd bring it back to the Apple Store and let them see it.
