Black Transparency Issue Only When Printing

Hi guys,
I have been having a problem with printing my Ai files. On screen, the black is rich and solid. When printed, objects/color behind the black are slightly shown. It seems like once I print, they become slightly transparent. Anybody have a solution?
Thanks in advance!

Preferences > Appearance of Black. Set it to look like this…
And make sure you are using CMYK (File > Document Color Mode > CMYK Color). And preview your file with View > Overprint Preview.
What is probably happening is you are using process black (0,0,0,100) and it is overprinting. Your On Screen setting is set to Display All Blacks as Rich Black, which is why your black looks good on screen but not in print. I have no idea why the default for this preference, in what is supposed to be a professional graphics program is effectively Display All Black Wrong.
Can you provide a screen grab showing what this black area looks like? Depending on the context, you may be better off setting up a rich black, which is 100% black plus some other process colour ink to add saturation and increase coverage. A common rich black value is 30, 30, 40, 100.

    Hi,
Airprint does not support Black ink only printing, however the HP ePrint app allow it.
Be aware that the option is only available for documents (e.g Office files, PDFs, Web pages and emails) but not for Photo files.
You may find the steps to get and use the app in the document below:

  • Using black ink cartrige only when receiving faxes

I have an HP 6600 Deskjet printer in my office.  it is used primarily as fax machine.  I go through quite a few color cartridges.  Have found this puzzling since faxes are black and white.  Was told by rep a Office Depot that is was because all color cartridges are being used to make the black ink for faxes.
Is there any way to set fax option to use black ink cartridge only?  Thank you.

    Hello!
    Welcome to the forums @carperwm
I understand you are looking to see if you can use black ink only when printing out faxes, with your Officejet 6600.
Unfortunately you cannot, as the ink system will continue to work all together to print out the faxes.
However, you can choose to print in black ink only from your computer, check out these guides for help on changing the settings:

Changing Print Settings in Windows 7
I hope the information helps, have a great day

  • Setting up footer to display only when printing

    Hello,
I am trying to figure out if you can display a footer only
when printing and not to be displayed when viewing the help
    information.
Let me know if this is possible and if so how to do it.
    Thanks!

Sorry we didn't get to you as quickly as you'd like, but we
    all have regular jobs...
The content in footers can be conditionalized the same as
regular context. RH provides the default Online and Print condition
tags, but you can add others as you like.
In addition, you can use templates to apply headers and
footers to multiple topics more easily.
See the "Conditional text" section of the RH Help.
    Good luck,
    Leon

This means that the transaction initiator has not received replies for some of
the transactional requests when the transaction commits, i.e. the checked transaction
behavior is violated. WLS TM enforces checked transaction behavior to make sure
that all work done in the transaction context will be completed before transaction
is committed. If it cannot make such guarantee due to outstanding replies, it
              aborts the commit right away.
Currently, there is no provisions for dumping the requests whose replies are still

  • Colors not printing correctly - Only When Printing from Reader 9

I have recently been having problems printing color PDF's using Reader 9. Yellows are printing as blue, blues as pink, pink as grey, etc. I have no problems printing any other types of photos, documents, or powerpoint presentations so I am assuming it is some setting in Reader. My printer is an HP Color LaserJet CM1015. Any help diagnosing this problem would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

It is using sRGB and that is the only color profile available.
In addition, when I try to print 4 slides per page and 1 slide per page, the colors are completely different than when I try to print 2 slides per page.
I have tried changing settings in print options and put them back to default and nothing I do changes the issue. Again, it only occurs when printing from Reader. Everything else prints colors perfectly fine.

  • Black ink faded/Gray when printing with HP Envy 5530

When printing with my new HP Envy 5530 the black ink looks gray or faded.  I tested the color and this prints dark and clear.  I have power cycled, plugged into different power outlets and re-inserted the cartridge.  Any thoughts...or could it just be a "bum" cartridge?
Thanks in Advance for your help...

Howdy. After tinkering around with my Envy having the same issue, I found out that after replacing my black cartridge because it was low, I was having the same issue.
Turns out the color cartridge will simulate a black in an to preserve both the tri color cartridge and the black cartridge for as long as possible, which is why even if you've never printed any color, both your cartridges should be low. Once the color cartridge starts getting low, the printer doesn't have a sensor to realize which of the tri color is mixing in the most, so it continues to mix it in either way.
I was having this issue where I would print one page and it would be okay and then any page following would slowly look worse.
Long story short, just print without the color cartridge in and you shouldn't have the issue unless your black is really low. Replacing that should fix it overall though.

  • Black ink stains envelopes when printing

I have a Photosmart Plus all in One e B210a. When printing DL envelopes, or other sizes for that matter, there is always a black ink mark staggered along the lead edge of the envelope. It is about 2mm from the leading edge of the envelope and almost the full width. What do I have to do to ensure that this ink mark is removed/not printed. It doesn't do it on single pages.
    Thanks
    ALTV

I have the Photosmart Premier Premium c410a.  The issue is that the leading edge of the envelope is scraping the very, very dirty underside of the ink cartridge carrier on the first swipe of the print heads.  To keep this from happening, apply a small piece of tape on the underside of the leading edge to hold the flap down.  This solution will probably work for many printers.

  • What is the issue? When printing a 30x42 drawing PDF with 5 pages. The first drawing prints properly, but none of th eothers do. IF I print each separately, by selecting "current page" they print fine. Oh this is for Acrobat XI Standard.

RE Acrobat XI Standard. When printing a 30x42 Drawing PDF with more than 1 page only the first page prints properly the rest are not the proper size or centered. Did I miss a setting? For now I can work around it by printing each page using the "Current Page" setting, but this delays me when there is more than 20 pages etc..

  • Tecra A5: touchpad issues only when AC adaptor connected

    Hi,
I have a very strange pb with my tecra a5: when I plug the power supply, my touchpad behaves strangely (latency), as soon as I unplug the power touchpad is ok.
I have tried many things (including total reinstall + changing the touchpad), the pb is still there.
    Any idea or similar experience?

Incredible, it solved my issue. In fact I had another AC adaptor (same model, same version), with this one the problem is no more there.
By parsing the forum I saw someone had the problem only when using his computer at home equiped with CPL, which is also my case ...
I wouldn't be surprised it's a matter of filter in the AC adaptor which are more or less sensitive to voltage spikes involved by CPL plugs.
    Anyway thx for your help!

  • HP D5640 printer prints green instead of black, but only when printing onto printable discs

Hi there,  im wondering/hoping that someone can help me solve this,  basically my printer works fine when im printing on paper, but when i put a disc in and try to print anything with black in, the black comes out as a bottle green colour, this has happened a few times before and i usually uninstal all the printer software off my pc, then reinstal it  and it prints fine, this time however doing that hasnt worked, ive tried all weekend and unistaled it loads of times and its driving me potty, ink cartridges are all fairly new so running low on ink aint the issue.

  • Black Becomes Gray Only When Image Placed

I am new at InDesign (CS5) and having a problem.
I have the output set to rich black etc and have a file with pages that have an RGB 0,0,0 black background.  When I put text on a page it seems to export to pdf with a jet black background.  However if I place a .jpg image on the page and then reexport the exact same page the background will turn to dark gray not black.  Remove the image and it exports as black again.  The picture can be quite small but yet the entire page packground goes dark gray.  What gives?  I can't figure it out.  Any help appreciated.
    TRhanks.

Not sure what you meabn by Acrobats Output Preview
AcrobatPro provides a number of soft proofing options that will show you how a document will print or how RGB objects will get converted into CMYK.
If your  ID and PS black objects are really 0|0|0 RGB, your Transparency Blend Space is really RGB, and you don't have Overprint, Separation Preview, or Proof Colors turned on then 0|0|0 RGB will always display as absolute black in InDesign. Here's an ID black and a PS black with transparency:
If I turn on Proof Colors there are setups which would preview 0|0|0 RGB as something less than absolute black—something like this:
AcrobatPro also has soft proofing tools which could effect the preview of 0|0|0:
But in Acrobat Reader there's no soft proofing so I think 0|0|0 will always display as absolute black, so in your case you should use Reader because that's how the document will likely display online:

  • Strange artifact in Illustrator PDF, only when printing via Adobe PDF printer

    Hello,
I've run into a strange issue with an artifact in a PDF generated by Illustrator using the Adobe PDF printer. When I "Save As" a PDF, this artifact does not show. Using the same job options, printing via Adobe PDF creates this artifact. The object is behind the content and it's a semi-transparent box that was manipulated using Free Distort. It's behind everything so shouldn't even show up, but the outline is showing up for some reason. In the past I've had similar issues with artifacts and I changed my Adobe Compatibility to the latest version, and it fixed the issue, but that didn't work this time. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks,

I had to zoom in to see the faint lines you are talking about and they are there. As a test, try printing to the Adobe PDF printer.
