Black Up-Date for Lumia 810

I live in US ( for just about 2 years) so i got the 810 from T-Mobile last year. Now I see that Lumia Black update is listed as "Not available" for my phone. I saw on the Nokia site that the update it's avaible for all the Lumias so I gues the  T-Mobile it's just bloking the up-date because they don't want to bother with the process for this phone ( they don't sell it anymore so...)
It's there any other way that I can get the up-date with-out OTA? I can install it from my computer? I know that i will void the warantty, but I'm willing to give it a try...
Thank's and I'm sorry for my bad English...

I too have a Lumia 810 from T-Mobile and have similarly been wondering when the carrier plans to roll out GDR3+Black. So far, T-Mobile has only released the update to the Lumia 925. I asked T-Mobile Support about it and was told that they had no information on it. Not particularly comforting in terms of support.
I'm pretty sure that the 810 is fully capable of running GDR3+Black, so it all comes down to a decision by the carrier to actually roll it out to customers. So far, there is no other way to get Black.
Interestingly, Nokia announced this week that Black was being rolled out to all Windows 8 Lumias worldwide in the coming weeks. But I am somewhat doubtful as to whether or not that really includes the 810. I have to say, lately I've been experiencing feelings of abandonment from T-Mobile and seriously considering the possibility I might switch to AT&T when my contract runs out.
Not sure this helps you any, but at least you know you are not alone in having a big question mark hovering above your head about this issue.
Hello, T-Mobile? Can you hear us? We want GDR3+Black for the Lumia 810. We're customers too!

  • Release date for Lumia 920 in Finland/Sweden?

I heard someone said 1 November, but is that correct?

There is no official release date for the Lumia yet. WP8 will be launched on October 29 though so we can expect phones shortly after that. November 1st sounds like likely date (even though it might be in a limited scale).

  • Lumia 810 not receiving Black update?

I find it rather odd that the Lumia 810 will not be getting the Black update and have also heard that Nokia is no longer supporting additional updates to this phone.. If this info is incorrect please let me know.. I am stuck with this Pile of **bleep** and my carrier will not replace it with the 925 even though I am on phone number 6 and all have had the same issues such as calls dropping, the Wifi not working, bluetooth being crackly, not getting service in areas where I should have full bars. Now I am finding out I will not be getting updates.. Please help me out here nokia!

Until  couple days ago I was an owner of an 810 (loved it) and was abandoned by T-Mobile.  If dropping support for a phone less than a year after selling it is "uncarrier", then give me a real carrier any day.
So, in protest, I did some research and decided to switch to AT&T.  Your options for Win phone on T-Mo are the 521 and 925.  AT&T also has the 925, so I compared the two carriers.
A 925 on T-Mo will cost you $480.  Then the plan is $50 + $10/mo for 2.5GB data.  JUMP adds another $10 for a total of $70/mo with the option for a new phone in 6 months.
A Nokia Lumia 925 on AT&T cost me $330 at my local AT&T corporate store.  I got a $200 switchers credit, plus they gave me $100 to trade in my beloved 810.  So the 925 cost me $30 in the end.  AT&Ts Next12 plan is $45/mo -$15 credit = $30, plus $40/mo for 1GB data (enough for me).  Again, that's $30 for a brand new 925, then $70/mo with the option for a new phone in 12 Months.  Not exactly apples to apples, but close enough.  And AT&T has better network coverage.
Bye T-Mobile and your poor customer loyalty.

  • A few questions about the Nokia Lumia 810 for T-Mo...

I recently upgraded from the Nokia E73 Mode to the Nokia Lumia 810, my first ever "smart phone" and I'm already having problems which I hope can be clarified in this forum/thread.
    1. Supposedly this phone supports USB "drag & drop", but it doesn't seem to fully work for me. An example, with my previous phone I connected via USB cable and dragged computer files (Audio, Video, and Images) from my computer to the memory card of my phone. I can do this with this phone, but only somewhat. Once it's been "copied" to the SD card, I can't really edit the file from there. If I try renaming a music file for example, the window freezes saying "Program Not Responding". If I try to delete the file, it doesn't delete it either. Another big issue is once it's in my Nokia Lumia's SD card and I right-click it from my PC to edit an image with Photoshop, I can't do it. There's no "Open With..." feature. The same with audio files, I can't open with anything other than Windows Media Player, which I don't use. So does this phone really support "drag & drop" or is this just false advertising?
    2. How does one change the message tone? If a so-called "inferior" phone like the Nokia E73 Mode could do it, easily, why can't the superior Windows 8 smart phone do it? The same with an actual ringtone. How does one change it?
I actually do love this phone, but the whole lack of file manager and it's inability to "drag & drop" files for me disappoints.

    Welcome to the forum.
the drag m drop is working according to your post. Drag n drop doesn't include altering or editing files directly on the device.
coming from Symbian, I understand your dilemmas here.
best to take the file off the device by drag n drop from the device to the PC and then alter it and then drag b drop it back to your device.
as for the memory card, I have always found it faster to write directly to a card from the PC with an adapter rather then going through the device hardware.
with wp8, you can only use custom ring tones with what you drag into the ringtones folder when connected.
I would recommend changing the file genre to ringtone too
as for the messaging and email sounds currently you are limited to the sounds that available in the device. Not even the custom tones will show.
    hope that helps

  • Several issues with Lumia 810/820

I am a tech reviewer looking at the 810 (T-Mobile) and 820 (AT&T). There are some issues I want to address before I publish to make sure it has not been resolved or if I am doing something wrong. Here are some excerpts. Comments/corrections are welcomed.
Connecting to Wi-Fi should be easier. It takes 4 steps to connect to a Wi-Fi signal. The steps are swipe left, swipe up, settings, Wi-Fi, choose signal. This is particularly irritating since Nokia does not have an agreement with public Wi-Fi providers such as Starbucks to bypass the confirmation screen automatically. The result is no connection is made without user intervention. By contrast, the Samsung Note on AT&T connects automatically to Starbucks and does not time out and disconnect. This means synching, updates, and other alerts are automatic once you are in range of an AT&T Wi-Fi hotspot using the Samsung Note. It’s unclear if this is an AT&T feature but the Lumia 820 using AT&T did not auto connect to AT&T’s network. If an app requiring an Internet connection is launch and none is found, an error is displayed instead of prompting the user to connect using an available Wi-Fi connection.
Both the Lumia 810 & 820 has an irritating habit of timing out and disconnecting from Wi-Fi after some predefined period. If you're connected to a public Wi-Fi which required an acknowledgment, your connection will stop working until you re-confirm. It will even disconnect in the middle of downloads. This is not a public Wi-Fi policy issue as my laptop, tablet and Samsung Note never disconnects from the same Wi-Fi. It appears to be a combination of the Lumia and public Wi-Fi as the Lumia connected to a private Wi-Fi network does not disconnect.
On both the 810 and 820, when trying to connect to Starbucks’ open Wi-Fi, the user is sometimes presented with the web page www.msftncsi.com/ncsi.txt instead of the usual Starbucks welcome page. While I know enough to change the url to www.yahoo.com to receive the Starbuck’s Wi-Fi acknowledgement page, your average soccer mom will just be baffled and sit there with a blank stare wondering why there is no connection. Looking at the explanation for ncsi, I am convinced this is the evil spirit of the dreaded Windows Vista coming back to haunt Windows 8 users.
Although the Lumia 810/820 are NFC enabled, users should beware that NFC transfer is often not interoperable between NFC devices from different manufacturers. It’s sometimes not even compatible between different devices from the same manufacturer if they are running different version of Android. Despite the presence of NFC on both the Lumia 810 and 820, it is not possible to transfer photos via NFC between these two very similar phones.
Another photo sharing option is Photobeamer. Photobeamer is initiated from the phone with the sending photo. The receiving end works by going to www.photobeamer.com where a unique QR code is displayed to be scanned with the source phone. In testing, it works great between mobile phones including the Lumia 810/820 and Samsung Note connected to Wi-Fi but trying to receive the photo on a laptop running Chrome just displays a black screen. It eventually times out and redisplays the QR code. On Firefox and IE, a corrupted image is displayed. This may possibly be due to bandwidth or browser issues but Scalado touts their solution as non technical, requiring little bandwidth with zero configuration. On phone connected to slower 2G connections, www.photobeamer.com failed to display the unique QR code altogether or only did so after an agonizing 5 minute wait.
Nokia acquired Scalado (creator of Photobeamer) in 3rd quarter of 2012 so while the app is available for Nokia running Windows 8, it may not be available for other Windows 8 phones. There was an iOS app but it no longer shows up in the Apple App store.

    hi mate,
As this is a user to user forum only for Nokia products and services, you can reach someone more directly by clicking the Nokia Support link at the bottom of this page and leaving your feedback with them, for Nokia issues. Additionally, you can also leave feedback with Microsoft directly by the link: http://windowsphone.uservoice.com
I can however, respond to some of the issues you are facing. The first of connecting to WiFi, though not natively in Windows PHone 8, you can download an app from the Store such as ConnectivityShortcuts which lets you pin tiles to the Start screen to enable one-tap access to WiFi and Bluetooth and Network etc.
For the disconnect from the WiFi, the update from Microsoft that is Portico and that has already been released for AT&T and Rogers customers, and that is coming in February 2013 for other Lumia WP8 devices, addresses this issue and adds an option in the WiFi settings, to keep the WiFi on when the screen is locked.
For the Starbucks thing, it sounds like a Starbucks thing as i've had no issues connecting to McDonalds WiFi here in Australia, and as for the Photobeamer, i had no issue running it in IE10 and the latest version of Chrome on Windows 8. It is dependent on the speed of WiFi and cellular, so images will appear pixelated until the data transfer is completed.
For Scalado, Nokia makes some great products and keeping it exclusive to the Lumia range, is another way of differentiating their product from other competitors.

  • Nokia Lumia 810 and 820 launch in India

Can you tell me when Nokia Lumia 810 and/or 820 will be launched in India. I am really in need to change my existing mobile and just waiting for these two.
    Thanks!
    Solved!

The 810 won't be launching in India as that model is exclusive to a US network. The 820 should be available early next year. You will need to contact Nokia India or Nokia retailers for more specific dates.

  • Nokia Lumia 810 just dead

I don't mean the battery died, I mean the phone died. I pulled it out of my pocket and unlocked it to look at time. I saw the time and pressed the lock button again it went black like it should but then I wanted to check again so when I pressed the lock button again it wouldn't come back.
I took it to tmobile n they were like "ive never seen this before, you need a new phone!" They apperently tried 3 different things to get it to work.
They just never tried taking out the battery so I did it... and it worked after. I then did a master reset cuz mabe it was a glitch... BUT now its the next day and it's doing the same thing. It wont turn on, reset, show lock screen... nothing.
I love this phone to death so ill keep trying with tge lumia 810 but if it continues I may be forced to go with htc

    Hi RickCharleston,
Are you still experiencing the issue? Instead of removing the battery and replacing it back, you can to press the down volume and power keys together until the phone vibrates and starts up.
If the software of your phone is up-to-date, performing a reset by going to Settings and then About is what I'd suggest if the issue happens again and is often. This reset deletes all the personal content on your phone so make sure to create a backup copy of your files by going to Settings and then Backup.
If above would not help, trying out another battery to further isolate the issue is what I can suggest.
If this was done and either the issue is with the battery or with the phone itself as you have identified, bringing the phone to a Nokia Care Point is the option then.

  • Lumia 810 Direct PC sync with Outlook?

How can I directly sync Outlook to my Lumia 810 for my contacts and calendar?  Is there an app that I can install?  Is there one in development? If there is I will patiently wait.  I am very huge on security and honestly I don't need my calendar and contacts available for anything but my pc and my phone I won't have any other devices that I will need to access that so I just want a direct USB sync.  How can I do this.  I don't want to sync that data to the internet.
I would be very greatful if there can be an app developed and I would even pay for it, even if it was $100.00  I would like to directly sync my Lumia 810 w/ windows Phone 8 to my pc.  Please someone tell me  this is possible.
    Thanks,
    Stephen Bailey

Sure I do my best to protect my pc against trojans, but occasionally they sneak through for example family emails I had opened thinking it was harmless but found out days later they had an infection and I may have recieved it too without my knowledge.
There is nothing wrong with wanting a windows PDA like device with voice phone call ability, that's what I was looking for.  I don't care for the online presence of the phone and find many useful features that I can use on it without an online presence.  For one I can have up to 64 gigs of music and movies stored locally and don't have to pay for an online repository to store that music.
Sure other phones can do this too but I also have word excel and powerpoint local to the device as well.  If I need to go online I just find a wifi hotspot but I have rarely needed to do that having the phone (I have data turned off).  I knew I was going to do this before getting the phone, didn't realize outlook was going to be a hassle though.
I have games on it that once downloaded will work without a data connection.
There is actually a large userbase that agrees with my thinking.
Here is a site that has 3,000 + votes agreeing they should sync to outlook directly
    http://windowsphone.uservoice.com/forums/101801-feature-suggestions/suggestions/1549639-sync-directl...
I don't have to have a data connection on it to survive I am fully satisfied without having an all online data connection but if I can transfer my music movies, documents, etc over via a USB connection then what about my contacts and calendar.
I mean really if I really had a good reason to not use the cloud shouldn't there be an alternative.  For example if there was a major disaster somewhere else that brought that server farm down (assuming the rollover farm was also down) then I am at the whim of that company to get their equipment back up and running and it may take days or weeks and I'm supposed to continue life with no other way to sync my data.   Many server farms are on the east coast and have recently been knocked off line.  while I understand I can't control mother nature or whatever happened to knock it off line, because of that I am limited as to how to obtain my data.
Again I ask shouldn't I be allowed to have an alternative if I so choose?

  • Nokia Lumia 810 (T-Mobile) Experiencing Freezes Li...

I got a new Nokia Lumia 810 almost a month ago, and I seem to be experiencing the same sort of freezes as the 820 and 920 owners. The first freeze occurred almost immediately after setup, the second the next day, and since then the freezes vary between once a week randomly to several times within a half hour pretty much if I want it to, meaning I can virtually prompt freezes by browsing the web and/or pulling up the keyboard. This morning, for instance, I got it to freeze about once every two to three minutes at will (note, however, I can only seem to do this in the morning, for whatever reason).
I've updated my 810 to the latest firmware, uninstalled everything that can be uninstalled, removed all but my Microsoft Account, disabled Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, and location services, performed hard resets, used no memory cards, disabled "Find My Phone", etcetera, etcetera, to no real avail. Returning or exchanging my 810 is not an option because I didn't buy it from an official channel, and from what I gathered from the seller this particular unit is a new exchange (it came factory-sealed), so there's already precedent for that not guaranteeing a fix.
I'm not really mad about this, nor does this cause me to want to switch to another platform or anything like that (the grass is always greener, and my phone last round was an Android phone, so I know exactly how "green" it is). There is no "or else" for me so long as my 810 is otherwise functional (and it is), and I don't want to have to leave the WP platform again, so I sincerely hope there is a fix or at least an official acknowledgment coming soon.

Just to update this thread, about a month ago I sent my 810 to Nokia to repair. Nokia apparently reflashed the firmware, and after determining all was good, sent it back to me in about a week. Great turnaround, by the way.
Unfortunately, about a day after I got my phone back, it started freezing again. On the up side, it froze much less frequently than before (nowhere near once every few minutes), but after another freeze in the morning resulting in the alarm clock not going off, I figured I had enough dealing with this excellent but wholly unreliable phone. I was preparing to put it on eBay "as-is" and eating the loss before I stumbled on a forum thread... somewhere... suggesting that at least some of the freezing might be due to the Nokia charger. With a few other users in that thread reporting similar findings, and having nothing to lose myself, I plugged my phone into my computer to charge that night just to see if there was any truth to their findings.
Now, I'm not claiming any conclusions here, but after two weeks of charging the 810 via anything other than the Nokia charger it came with, i.e. a Samsung charger, a car charger, my computer, etc., I have so far experienced zero freezes. I don't know how. I don't know why. This could all be a huge coincidence, and my phone could freeze within the next few minutes just to punk me. It doesn't even make sense to me, since the freezing occurred both on and off the Nokia charger. But for now... no freezes!

  • I plugged my iPhone 4s into my macbook air and it asked me if I wanted to update to the latest iOS update and when I did, it stayed on the black update page for a few hours now and it is not turning on. How do I get my phone to restore?

After plugging my phone into my computer, it asked me to update and then got stuck on the update page and the bar hasn't moved at all.
Then I plugged it into my computer after it died just like it told me to and it asked me if i wanted to restore my phone. i pressed 'okay' and it is stuck on the black page again for a few hours without the bar moving at all and my phone is completely useless.
How can I get my phone to update and restore?

If you're in recovery mode, all data is ALREADY lost.  You've no choice but to restore.
