Black & White PDF's print with reddish hue

I have been using Adobe products forever and just had to upgrade to this Creative Suite. Something is different with the Acrobat Pro settings after I convert an InDesign file to PDF.
A lot of our ads are black and white with just our logo in color. It used to be that I could print using AUTO print and the black and white was truly black and white and the logo showed in color perfectly.
Now, the black and white has a reddish hue to it when printed no matter what I do. (It looks fine on screen).
My co-worker who also upgraded to the Creative Suite is having the exact same issue.
We both have PC's. I think it may be ICC Profile related but don't know enough about that to know what to change.
Thanks

  • Why does black/white print with magenta hue?

When I print black/white greyscale in Adobe Reader or Acrobat, some documents print with ghost text that appears in a light magenta.  This ghost text is staggered to the bottom right of the black text.
I'm printing from Mac OS X 10.8.4, Adobe Reader 11.0.03 using an HP LaserJet 1525nw.
The left side of the image is a screen capture from the PDF and printed.  The right side printed directly from the PDF.
    Any ideas why this happens?

Sorry - I was able to find out how to do color calibrate.  It is supposed to print a page but never did.  I tried it twice.  Not sure if it actually did anything.  But results are the same with printing.
The printer is very low on the three color cartridges, which I don't use.  It is at normal capacity on black.  Even though I'm selecting to print only black/white in Reader, could the low status on the color cartridges be causes this pink hue?
I did try a pure PDF document (one that isn't a scanned print page).  It printed without issue.  As I mentioned above, there is something about a scanned in printed page, which causes this pink hue issue.

  • C410a PhotoSmart Printer All Of A Sudden Prints Photos With Reddish Hue

Have not been able to get a definitive solution for this problem.  Print cartridges are new and full, print heads aligned and clean.  Test printouts are perfect.  All non-photo related color printing is great.  Only photos are printing with a soft reddish hue to them.  Photos printed in normal settings on normal everyday copy paper look pretty close to the monitor, but everything goes reddish when using photo settings "best" or "maximum dpi" on the 4x6 glossy photo paper or the 8.5x11 matte finish paper.
This must be the mystery of the ages because I have never seen any solutions offered beyond the usual cartridge tool management stuff.  This is definitely something else that may have changed with the W7 upgrade or Nero upgrade.

I've heard of people having a similar type of problem when printing photos from Photoshop, and in both cases it ended up being a problem with their Photoshop settings, and not the printer itself.

  • PDFs that have white backgrounds always print with small dot grids instead of plain white

If I print out of the browser it's white, but when i save the PDF and print it later it has these small dots in a grid, is there a setting in Adobe Reader that is doing that?

I have the SAME problem. My pdf was created by exporting a text document from pages. Anyone can HELLLP????

  • Gray becomes green when a Adobe 8.1.0 PDF is printed with Acrobat 9 Pro ...?

    Hello,
when the PDF file which was created with Adobe 8.1 is printed with Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro the gray is as it should be.
If the same file is printed to the same printer (same settings) with Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro on another Workstation in the same office the gray becomes kind of green.
I noticed the grayscale Option in the Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro was set to Dot Gain 20% instead of Gray Gamma 2.2, so i changed it but the gray still gets printed as a green.
I really would appreciate any help!

    Martha:
Acrobat 9 installation is fraught with problems. All four writers who tried to install it at one customer location had problems getting the A'9 to work properly after installation -- and the problems were all slightly different.
And so too were the responses given by Adobe support. In one case A'Support recommended running a cleanup tool, in one case it insisted that the program should install with the same serial number as the Tech Comm Suite that putatively includes A'9, and in another case it simply "punted" and gave the I.T. folks a new, separate serial number to circumvent the otherwise unresolvable installation problems.
Apparently we can add sending people with A'9 problems to the FrameMaker forum to that list...
    Cheers & hope this helps,

  • Pdf reader X has problems with small pdf and printer with post script driver

    Hi friends.
I have installed new Reader X and then i saw that, when i print a very small pdf with about 50 kb and i print it on a Laserjet 4000 printer the printer has problem with the amount of data that reader 10 produces.
When i install a Postscript driver for the printer my computer makes up to 3.5MB printer data from a 50kb pdf.
When i install a PCL driver for the printer my computer makes only 350kb from the same 50kb pdf file!!!!
When i install Reader 9.3 the 50kb file becomes also only 350kb on the printer with post script driver, and i can print without problems also.
my printer has 8 MB Ram and that should be enough for 3.5MB printer data.
But when i print the pdf with 1 side only, the printer created a side who is only filled with 50% of the text, then there comes out a second page with the message.....not enough memory in the printer.
i can not change the postscript driver to a pcl driver cause our ERP System can not handle printer with PCL drivers.
Can someone help me please.........are there settings in Reader X who can solve my problem ???
Thank you very much for help!

  • Pdf files print with horizontal and vertical lines

All of a sudden, today, when I print pdf files, they print with horizontal and vertical lines.  I thaught it was the computer or printer. So I printed from another computer on the network, and printed to a different printer with the same result.  It is not just that one pdf file either, I have tried multiple files.  HELP.  Does anyone have any ideas?

It is not clear how you are creating the files. It appears that they were created by Distiller from PS files that were created in some way. I also noted that you are using AA8.1.0. You may want to try to update (do all the updates in order) as a possible fix. It may be in the creation process also. Several packages will split large graphics into parts and create the image. I think this is a characteristic of OFFICE 2007 (docx) files - but I am not sure yet. Tell us how you created the files - step by step, including the scan.
If you have the original documents, why not simply print to the Adobe PDF printer. The result would be smaller and a lot cleaner.

  • Converting jpgs of documents to black & white pdfs

    Any help is greatly appreciated!
Long story short - I can provide more details if necessary - I have a collection of jpg files that are pictures of documents - no images - that I had to take to copy them instead of zeroxing them.  I am trying to convert them into pdfs that are:
1.) as black and white as possible so as to make it as close to printing a regular black and white word document as possible (instead of using a lot of printer ink on printing pictures that just happen to be saved in pdf format), and
    2.) searchable vis-a-vis OCR.
After a recommendation from a teacher, I purchased Adobe Acrobat a few days ago which I've never used before.  That being said, I can convert them into pdfs, I can make them searchable because I've played around with the OCR and that seems pretty straight forward.
However, no matter how many times I try, no matter how many different preferences/settings/etc. I play around with (as an aside, how the hell do I revert these settings back to default?  I can't remember what they all were beforehand!), I can't get the pdfs to look like anything other than the same jpg image but now saved as a pdf.
I've also been recommended ABBYY FineReader, and I've tried that as well and it seems to do a much better job, unless I'm missing something.
I'd share the documents, but I can't figure out how.
EDIT:  After uploading pdfs to acrobat.com, taking 30 mins to get workspaces to open up, but then not being able to transfer the documents from acrobat.com to workspaces, I finally uploaded them again from my desktop to workspaces - WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT?!?!
So my questions basically is this:  How do I get adobe to make files like this:
    https://acrobat.com/?d=KJskXucbh2pBBPuZmsL6Hw
    look like this:
    https://acrobat.com/?d=RrXBupJrVFQBKNT*DdqK5g
This has been a very frustrating day.  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks to everyone who has responded to my questions, but I have decided to return Acrobat Pro and stick with ABBYY FineReader.
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your responses, but I can't help but feel as if either nobody here is able to see the differences between the two pdfs I link to above, or nobody here believes me when I say that the jpeg file (link above) I used to create the pdf with ABBYY (link above) was the same jpeg file I used to create the pdf  with Acrobat (link above).
Instead, the consensus seems to be that the only way I could have possibly created the kind of perfect-looking black and white (or monochrome or whatever) pdf that I made with ABBYY (as opposed to pdfs Acrobat makes, which look and print exactly like the jpeg images but with various grey filters applied to it) was by using a scanner, a perfectly flat document, and maybe even graphics editing software.
None of these are needed because that isn't the issue here.  I wasn't allowed to use a scanner anyway as is often the case when digitizing documents from a university's library archives.
The only thing you need to do is not use Acrobat but use ABBYY FineReader 11 instead.  FineReader was not only able to convert the jpegs (despite the fact the jpegs were made not with a scanner but a webcam that was propped above the document) into pdfs that looked like the one above, but did so unbelievable easy - simply by selecting the black and white mode option before the conversion.
Again, I appreciate everyone who took the time to read and respond to my questions, and perhaps in the field of pdf conversion and creation what I'm asking to do isn't often done or in high demand, which may perhaps be why Acrobat can't do it.  Admittedly even on ABBYY's software this black and white mode is a brand new feature.  Nevertheless, the fact that ABBYY's software can do this so easily, even with imperfectly taken jpeg files, AND produce OCR that is more accurate that Acrobat's, all for less than half of Acrobat's cost, I can't help but question why Adobe can't get their feature-laden, labyrinthian software to do this, especially for 450 bucks.
Also, with all due respect, when someone is asking if acrobat can do something with already-existing files (that couldn't be made with a scanner) that a similar software can do with those same files, responding by suggesting that they throw out the files they already made and have to use, go back and recreate new files in a way that was already determined to be unavailable is both unhelpful and a bit frustrating, especially you come off in your suggestions as seeming to ignore or disbelieve that the other standalone software actually did this in the first place.
Thanks again for everyone's time, and I hope this thread is of some use in the future to anyone trying to do what I'm doing now.

  • Black & white docs not printing Printer: HP Officejet Pro L7380

Hey guys. I've run into a small problem thats been annoying me for a while.
    Printer: HP Officejet Pro L7380
For some reason my printer won't print black and white documents. My colour ink is empty (yellow and magenta but cyan still has some left) but my black ink is full. When i go to print i make sure all the settings are set to print only in black and white. I've tried changing it from good quality gray scale to just plain old black but no change. When i hit the print button the display on the printer says that i've got some ink cartridges empty and refuses to print anything.
I was just wondering if HP is being a cheapskate and making us keep all the cartridges full to print or there's a driver/software problem or any other problem. Please help any help is appreciated

i have the same problem with my HP officejet pro K550.  i cannot get it to print in black and white.  I had to purchase a new Yellow cartridge to get the printer to print anything.    98% of time i print in B&W so having to keep the color cartridge topped up is annoying and expensive.  I had the same thought about HP increasing cartridge sales.

  • Black line sketch renderings printing with teal or magenta

    Aloha,
When I print architectural drawings with my DesignJet 110 I sometime place computer generated sketch renderings in with the architectural plans which are vector line drawings.  The architectural line drawings and the sketch renders are computer generated made with ArchiCAD.  The HP 110 DesignJet prints the rendering and only the rendering with teal or magenta or a fade of both even though the rendering is black lines. The architectural line drawings on the same page print beautifully in black.  There is nothing on the page that is using any color lines.
When I set the printer to "Only Use Black Ink" the renders come out in black but the quality of the rendering's lines is poorer than when it prints using the teal/magenta.
I would like to get the printer to print high quality renderings with just black ink.
    What is causing the problem?
How can I fix the problem?
    Mahalo,
    John

  • InDesign CS3 "White Box" when printing with linked Photoshop EPS files

This problem has been covered before, but never really resolved:
Robert Levine, "InDesign CS3 Erratic White Box Phenomenon with Placed Photoshop EPS files" #1, 1 Apr 2008 11:05 am
Now, I'm aware that we should no longer be using EPS files. I wholeheartedly agree. But until we can convince the department to change to another format (namely PSD or TIFF) for our vast library of images, I need a workaround.
It seems that setting the clipping path for each linked image to "Photoshop Clipping Path" resolves this issue. So I tried writing an AppleScript that would find each linked Photoshop EPS and set it's clipping path to "Photoshop clipping path", but it didn't work for me (my expertise with AppleScript is basically nil.)
Can anyone assist with the creation of this script? Or does anyone have a better suggestion for solving or working around the Photoshop EPS erratic white box printing problem?
    Thanks!

    >Why??????????
Because they've got zillions of EPS and have no time to resave them all and because it
    b should
work even if Buko doesn't like EPS...
(Your vendetta against EPS takes on strange proportions. Were you bitten as a child by a rabid EPS and have sworn to wipe them out? Must be an interesting story behind it ;) )
Brian, this script seems to do the job with one very important caveat: I see no way of finding out which path is active in the EPS (in case that more than one). So the script simply activates the first in the list.
    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS3"
    set aDoc to active document
set allLinks to links of aDoc
repeat with n from 1 to (count allLinks)
set aLink to item n of allLinks
if link type of aLink is "EPS" then
set anEPS to parent of aLink
       tell clipping path of anEPS
set ePaths to photoshop path names
if (count ePaths) > 0 then
set clipping type to photoshop path
set applied path name to item 1 of ePaths
        end if
       end tell
      end if
    end repeat
    end tell

Trying to reinstall the program is rejected with error 1714. I have tried to remove the program as suggested in technotes to no avail.
    What next

When a user tries to print a PDF document using Adobe Reader 8.1.1 or 8.1.2, the receive the following error message:
    Do this and be amazed:
"Unable to start print job. Is printer available?
This is persistent for all print queues. In addition, they are able to print if they have another version of Adobe Professional installed.
    Root Cause:
This issue occurs because of incorrectly ordering permissions on the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe" folder.
    1. Stop inheriting permissions to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe.
    2. Remove all existing permissions to this folder.
    3. Turn permission inheritance back on.
    4. Apply these permissions to all sub files and folders.
    5. Restart Adobe Reader 8 and verify that you can now print.

  • Random Black/White Logo Screens Interfering With Everything

I recent upgraded my 4th Gen iPad to iOS 8.3, and since then it has been afflicted by random white or black logo screens that can happen at any moment in any application.  One see the progress bar move for a few seconds, it gets about half way, and then permits me to return to work, but never for long before it hits again.
I have restored my device (from a local back up) three times with no effect, and rebooting/reseting the device tells me to "Slide to upgrade," but the problem persists.
I have even done a total wipe of my iPad, resetting it to factory conditions, and played with it for a while to see if I could repeat the problem, but could not.
This tells me the problem is with the iOS 8.3 upgrade, though I have been able to find someone with an answer yet on these forums.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  This thing is dead in the water for the moment!
    iPad (4th Generation)
    iOS 8.3 (12f69)

This is very long winded and wordy, but I am trying to cover as much as I can in this response. If there is anything that you do not understand or if you are uncomfortable with trying any of this, please post back and I will answer your questions as best I can. There are many very knowledgeable people here that will hopefully offer help as well.
I backup with iCloud and with iTunes. I also sync my devices with iTunes because I have photos on my Mac that I want to sync and I have documents that are stored on the devices that I have moved back and forth with file sharing since not all apps work with iCloud. I also have most of my music collection on the iPad that was ripped from CD's and I don't use iTunes Match so I have to sync those songs to the device.
This is the approach that I would take and be forewarned that it can be very, very tedious and it will take some time. It could take days to sort it all out.
The first thing that I would do is backup with iCloud and then erase the device in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. You will have to go through the setup process again.  You will be given the option to restore the iCloud backup. Go ahead and say yes to that option. All of your content will be downloaded from the cloud and that can take hours if you have a lot of content on the iPad.  This will not restore any synced content that you have on the device, so you will still have to sync photos, music, books or any other non iTunes purchased content back onto the device. If you do not sync with iTunes, this step will be a non issue for you so you will not have to worry about it. However, if you do sync some content with iTunes, at this point, I would forgo that step for now. Use the iPad and see how it goes. If it all goes well, then sync whatever you were syncing back to the device. If the problem appears after syncing with iTunes, assume that there is something corrupt in iTunes.
If all of that fails to do any good, you can backup again, erase the device again, go through the whole set up process but do not restore the backup. See how that goes. If everything goes OK, sync with iTunes - but only if you sync content with iTunes - and see how that goes. If everything works out OK, you can assume something in the backup was corrupt and causing the problem.
If you use iTunes only, always make sure that you backup the iPad one last time before you do the clean install from iTunes. Make sure that you transfer all purchases and apps into iTunes as well. Then restore as new and use the device for a while and see how it goes. Slowly add a few of your purchased apps at a time. See how it goes, add more apps, see how it goes. When you get to a point where you believe that things are good to go, try restoring the backup which will restore all of your app data and the device settings. If the problem comes back, it has to be something in one of the apps or a corrupt setting on the iPad. Restore as new again, and download or sync your purchases back from iTunes and start all over again. Do not restore the backup.
What this amounts to is, doing things by process of elimination. Like I said, it could take days to sort it all out. I am a glutton for punishment and I don't mind going through all of the tedious rigamarole involved.
    Raoul_Duke wrote:
How would one move the data from the "corrupted" back up?
Unfortunately, you may never know what item, data, file, photo, song, etc. is corrupt and you cannot move selective data back from the backup. It is all or nothing. If you feel that the backup is corrupt or if you go through all of the steps and know that the backup is corrupt, then you cannot use it at all and you have to start over again.
This is one of the reasons why I keep copies of my most important files on my Mac, and not just in the iPad backups. I can selectively add files back to the iPad if I need to start all over again.

In ID CS4 when exporting a book to PDF, the buttons were automatically added when "interactive elements" were checked in the export dialog box.
