Blackbeery Desktop Manager 6 crashes on start-up.

When i try to boot Desktop Manager 6 i recieve an error message; "Blackberry Desktop Software has encountered a problem and needs to close".
I don't find any desktop.log files.
The only error information i can retrieve comes from windows event viewer:

The only error message i can detect from this error message is this one: system.typeloadexception NIL.
Any idea on how to solve this issue?

I have the same problem. It seemed to install ok, asked me for the 3 options - start when device plugged in etc and now it refuses to load.
I am trying to run a business here and expect Blackberry to assist me rather than hinder me.
I cannot return to V 5 as it not compatible now, so I am forced to use a piece of software that does not work
How can I resolve this issue please ?
And yes, this IS urgent !

Windows Server 2012 Standard - Remote Desktop Management service won't start

Dear colleges, I'm seeking your help in resolving a weird issue with Remote Desktop.
The Remote Desktop Management service gives the following error message any time it is attempted to start:
"The Remote Management Service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."
The Event Viewer error message is as follows:
"The Remote Desktop Management service failed to start. Error code: 0x88250001"
Whenever I connect to the server with RD I get error message that the Remote Desktop Licensing Server isn't configured and that the RD trill will expire in N-days. The server is up to date updates wise and has been licensed for 5 RD CALs. The server hosts DNS
server and has AD DS role installed, is virtualized to have one Hyper-V server.
I read some blogs about having both DNS and AD DS on one box is a bad sea and a root cause of the issue. Well, that very well may be, but for me that's an option as I'm not going to get a box to just host DNS. There should a solution to this as I shouldn't
only one suffering from this issue.
I also read about KB2871777 - Servicing stack update supposedly addressign this issue. Well, it's on my system and the issue is there too. :)
Will I loose ability to RD when the trial expires or it's just another misleading MS message that can be ignored?
How do I mend Remote Desktop Management service to start?

Thank you for posting in Windows Server forum.
Can administrators perfectly connect to RDS environment?
In meantime please check that you have properly configured and activated RD License role service and install RDS CAL on it. It might also possible that you have configured RD License server but it server can’t find it and giving you error due to certificate
also. Please check that you have properly configured certificate on your RDS Server. Try to install and update below hotfix for License related issue.

If you have configured both RDS and AD DS on single server then also you may find some error reading this. If so please try to setup both roles on different server and check the result. In addition to this, please check below articles.

Desktop Manager keeps crashing

Anyone else have this happen?
I had version 4.7 installed, everything working fine until I got a series of crashes - unistalled and re-installed to find the same problem.
Just unistalled completely using the instructions here: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB02206
reinstalled to version 4.7 from my original CD, and it crashes soon after the program starts.
Clicking the send error report/more info option through windows asks me to downgrade to 3.6. I have tried that with the same result as well...any suggestions?

Media Manager Update - Crashes at Start up - Windows XP

I received a notification while using Verizon Media Manager today that an update was available. I thought good maybe this addresses the constant crashing when using the user interface on my set top box, but instead I got an update which made the software completely unusable anymore. Now the program simply crashes at start up. I have tried uninstalling and installing with reboots in between many times without any luck. This has got to be simply the worst software ever written. I have yet to see an update improve anything. And Verizon keeps adding features rather than addressing issues like the software crashes on the set top box very frequently especially when attempting to fast foward/ rewind, and now the software crashes on Windows...
I guess I won't be using it anymore cause I don't really have much of a choice....
Fix your software, Verizon. It's pathetic.

Sound like it's a problem with Media Manager running on XP. The latest version works fine on Windows 7 and Vista. Maybe Verizon missed a compatibility test of some sore when it wrote the update that's crashing on your machine.

Blackberry Desktop Manager consistently crashing

I've always avoided BDM like the plague (and by looking through the forums for a few minutesm it seems like I'm not the only one). Each time I have tried to run it, it would always launch several other processes, such as RIMDeviceManager, RIM.Desktop.AutoUpdate, RIM.DesktopHelper and a few others with it and use upwards of one and a half million KB of my memory. My computer would become laggy and I could navigate through it with a lot of patience but anytime I would try to backup/sync my BlackBerry, it would crash and I'd have to force quit each process.
Anyways, today I bought a new BlackBerry after owning my old one for two years and want to transfer my contacts. This sadly means I have to use this bloated piece of software. Is there anyway to get this program working so I can actually use it?

Intel E8400
4GB DDR2 RAM
NVIDIA 9800 GTX+

If you can post your exception log, might be able to see the problem:

Just a hunk from the bottom, don't need the entire thing.

BB Desktop Manager v5 crashing right after I input my bb password

using vista, before I upgraded to v5 I had already noticed my calendar sync wasn't working properly but now it does not work at all.
if I select the mass storage mode, I can go through my blackberry but still can't make DM work.
My PC does not seem to be the problem as my wife who uses her own profile on vista has been able to sync her BB with the DM v5.
any help would be greatly appreciated

Desktop Manager 6 won't start

The blackberry splash screen pops up, followed by a second window that just remains completely white. Here is the contents of my Desktop.log file:

I've got the exact same problem... :'( I had to flash my phone, and subsequently got an upgrade I'd been longing for... to 6.0. When I upgraded my desktop software to match my new phone upgrade, the software on my laptop JUST WOULDNT start!! The screen stays white. I've tried reinstalling from - the internet, and from -the cd, but it stays the same. I decided to try a different approach, and connected the phone to my laptop, and now I cannot find my BBMessenger app, or my APPWorld button. If I could find AppWorld, I'd probably just re-download BBM, but now they're both gone! ...What do I do? Go back to version 5 on both counts? Does that imply I'd have to flash my phone again? Just so *frustrated!!

Desktop Manager 6 Crashes after new install

I was hapilly using DTM6 but installed a SSD after a HDU failure. Now DTM6 crashes every time I open it. I have re-installed several times, to different locations and even a different HDU. After each crash I have cleaned out registry, etc. but it seems that going back to DTM5 is the only answer. Has anyone else had this problem?

I am having the exact same problem. V6 was actually installed and running on my laptop a few weeks ago (I don't use it that often). Then two days ago I tried to use it and it crashed. I downloaded the software file and did a 'repair' installation, but it still crashed. I uninstalled it, reloaded it from the downloaded software and it still crashed. I uninstalled it, installed version 5 which worked, then used the upgrade option from that to install v 6 and it crashed.
I have tried turning off my anti-virus during the download and installation, and every other program I could identify as unnecessary via Windows manager, but it still crashes.
I am running Windows XP with all the latest Service Packs.

Desktop Manager Constantly crashing when syncing shared calandar.

Hi All,
Thanks in advance for any help its much appreciated. Several users at my workplace have to sync shared calandars to their devices which is done using the DTM.
We have just received new Bold devices and when trying to sync one of the users devices when syncing the selected shared calandar (Microsoft Exchange public folder) its gets to about 90% (26500 entries approx) and the software crashes.
I have scoured the web for solutions but can't find anything definitive. They are mainly associated with old versions of the desktop software and older versions of windows. I am using the latest version 7.1 and windows 7. Some post suggests its related to a particular calandar entry that its failing on however I dont know how to go about figuring which record it is.

Have you checked to see how long the calendar is set to keep appointments in your BlackBerry? You can check this from within the calendar, press the menu key, go to Options>General Options. If your BlackBerry is removing older entries, it will try to remove those entries from your iCal when you synchronize.

Why is Blackberry Desktop manager causing crash?

Desktop Manager crashes at first click

My Desktop Manager Software crashes at the first screen indicating a that Windows encountered a problem and closes. No error code indicated. Read me file indicates that I'm running the version 7.0. I have this problem since January. Using Vista. How can I fix this?

mhm Vista home preminum is the culprit..... try an repair
On the computer, open Start >Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
Select BlackBerry Desktop Software and click Uninstall/Change.
If a prompt appears for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Click Next.
Click Modify and Next.
If that does not work you can contact your carrier and see if they are able to help you if not they can get you to bb tech support.

FIXED - Desktop manager crashes when syncing with Notes 8

Hi - first post, so be kind!
Have installed desktop manager 5.0.1, and trying to sync with Notes 8 calender. When reading the calender, desktop manager always crashes with the following error:
AppName: desktopmgr.exe   AppVer: 5.0.1.28   ModName: lnsections.dll

Have looked through forum and not seen a fix that seems obvious to fix this. Any help would be greatful!

Desktop Manager Crashes

Hello all, suffering from a desktop manager which crashes on open. I am sure this comes up a lot but I cannot find a solution. It crashes saying: The type initializer for 'System.Windows.Media.FontFamily' threw an exception.

Desktop Manager doesn't want to open

When I load my Desktop Manager it crashes before getting anywhere. I first see the BB logo and receive a Windows error, which closes the application. Same happens with unit USB connected. Consequently I cannot see which version I have or check for updates. How can I correct this?

I have the same problem. Everything was fine until yesterday when I noticed that some of the letters in the word "Blackberry" were missing and synchronization no longer worked. I assumed that the file was corrupt and uninstalled the Blackberry Desktop Manager, downloaded the latest version, and reinstalled. Went from bad to worse. Now the Manager will not even open. I get a white screen and a "Not Responding" message in the corner. Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help. I am running Windows 7. The Manager version is Version 6, Build 38. HELP!

I've read some of the other posts about changing the synch settings but I can't even get to the settings options before it crashes. I've uninstalled the desktop software and reinstalled it (both with and without the media manager add on). I've done a battery pull on the phone itself. I've even done a restore of the last good backup of the phone.
Is it just me or does this house of cards seem to collapse every time there's an update to either the desktop software or the phone software?

If you have reinstalled the software without using the clean removal procedure I recommend you
use the procedure and the install the desktop manager again. The procedure cleans the registry and
completely strips all directories etc. This will save you headaches in the long run.
Use the first procedure to check the possible causes of the "unknown error".

Most posts I see regarding any new desktop manager are installation and setup errors by far.
The other posts mainly are Windows OS programs that aren't updated or unique to a specific PC setup.
House of cards? I don't think there are enough cards for a double deck pinochle game.
