BlackBerry 10 for Air

Good day, according RIM, they are working together with you in order to upgrade the runtime.
They publish this un your site: https://developer.blackberry.com/air/downloads/roadmap/
However, from Adobe we not see any news. You have plans to delivery any update near in order to finish the integration?
Will be a great solution enter with our apps finally in BB world.
Thanks.

AIR is installed natively on BB10 and PlayBook, although it is still AIR 3.1 (i.e. no Stage3D).
Flash Builder and FDT are the preferred ways of developing, though it should be possible with Flash Pro if you know what you're doing. Better to try with FB or FDT first though, as they provide on-device debugging and excellent integration for packaging and deploying your apps. Otherwise you'll be messing around with the command line.
As BB10 has a native AIR runtime preinstalled, there is no point developing it as an AIR for Android app. In fact, it's impossible.
It is certainly worth it.
We use Dev Alpha's, PlayBooks and Z10's to test our BB apps.

  • Blackberry SDK for AIR

    When I try to install the BB SDK for AIR, the installation does not recognize the Flash Builder or the AIR SDK installation folders when trying to associate the programs.  Is this because I'm using a demo version?  Plug-ins for Flash Builder therefore don't work?
    Yet, why doesn't the BB SDK for AIR not recognize the AIR SDK folder?

  • NO BlackBerry 10 for PlayBook - Thorsten Heins LIED to all of us.

    Today, June 28, 2013, at the quarterly conference call, BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins announced that BlackBerry 10 would NOT be coming to the PlayBook as previously expected. He tried to weasel out and say that apparently the performance wasn't up to snuff, and Heins wanted the focus back onto core products (read, wants us PlayBook users to go away with our tail between our legs because we're not important). They did say that they'd continue supporting the platform in its existing state what ever that's worth to you and your now antique tablet.
    So there you have it folks, THEY FLAT OUT LIED TO ALL OF US! Take this into consideration when you lay down money for a BlackBerry product in the future. When my Torch 9810 and PlayBook die in the future, so will ANY of my business towards this terrible company...stay far, far away from these people and their products.
    They've sunk their own ship now. Time to go to Android...

     So this means, you will NOT be getting an update to the Android Player and that ALL NEW APP RELEASES WILL NOT WORK on your PlayBook. The app ecosystem for the PlayBook is now a DEAD END.
    My adivce is to not take this sitting down. Get on Twitter, Facebook, your blogs, call up BlackBerry themselves and give the world your opinion - LOUDLY! If you're fine with being lied to then, do nothing...How does it feel to be strung along?

    Heins did a **bleep** poor job on that statement. Nothing at all! these devices should be recalled from all stores immediately! and BB should be giving back the money people just paid to purchase one! My family has 3 of them and I personally talked 10 people into getting one and now I look like an A$$hole!
    Rethink it BB, as "Support" is not good enough.

  • How to add norwegian language to my ipa-file in Adobe Flash Professional and Settings for AIR

    Hi,
    How to add Norwegian languages to my ipa-file in Adobe Flash Professional and Settings for AIR?
    The Norwegian users get my apps in english instead of Norweigan. Desperate for help!

    Sorry but you will not get help here for that problem. This forum is about AIR Help, an online help format produced using AIR, it is not about AIR itself.
    I'll see if I can move it.

  • Blackberry Desktop for Mac Is Not Complete - Still Have to Use PC Version Sometimes

    Blackberry Desktop for Mac is incomplete in this way - if your OS gets wiped out (as it wants to do upon initial install, as it tries to update your BB OS) - and if it gets hung in the process - as happened to me - then the ONLY way to fix is to go BACK to a PC and use the PC version of Blackberry Desktop.
    It's incredible, but that is what I learned.  I installed Blackberry Desktop for Mac.  It  wanted to initiate an OS upgrade first thing.  I allowed it to do so and it wiped out the OS on my Blackberry.  Leaving me with a 507 error.  I called Verizon.  They switched me to Blackberry.  Blackberry said I could only get clear of the 507 error by finding a PC - somewhere - and installing Blackberry Desktop for PC on that PC.
    Blackberry then switched me back to Verizon, and they said that since I didn't have a PC, they had to send me a new Blackberry - and they had to charge me for it! (They said that the local Verizon store could not repair the OS).
    I refused to pay $50+ for a new phone necessitated by the failure of Blackberry Desktop for Mac to be able to deal with a 507 error.  I spoke to Blackberry Support, again (this was about a 6 hour process), and they admitted that the provider - Verizon - did not support some sort of feature in the OS initialization process, meaning that Blackberry Dektop for Mac could not be used, one has to use Blackberry Desktop for PC no matter what in some circumstances (such as a 507 error upon OS upgrade).
    Blackberry switched me back to Verizon.  This time, Verizon stated that the local Verizon store could upload a new OS.  So I shlepped off to the local Verizon store and, another hour later, they installed the new OS.
    Once the new OS was installed, Blackberry Desktop for Mac was able to synch and works just fine (much better than PocketMac).  However, my fear is that when the next OS update comes out, if the same thing happens again (i.e., if the OS update freezes again), I will be left having to either look for a PC somewhere to run Blackberry Desktop for PC, or go to the Verizon store.
    So, word to the wise.  Blackberry Desktop for Mac is not complete vis-a-vis Verizon.  It cannot be complete if they tell you that you have to use Blackberry Desktop for PC in certain circumstances.

    This is often the problem with the new features that Apple implement more and more for each functionalities and moving them to "the cloud" (iCloud).
    Thus physically removing the files from the Mac makes the BBDM (logically) unable to sync with no-more existing files on the computer...
    This is the case currently for the address book and iCal. I guess that new functionalities in iTunes might have the same effect. Haven't you enabled new features recently in iTunes?
    Like "iTunes match" for example?...
    Please don't forget to mark as "solved" if your question is replied and to "like" a useful reply to your post ;-)

  • Manual for AIR

    Ok, i have been sitting here and trying to find livedocs or
    manual for air but without any luck.
    I followed up a tutorial and made everything exactly as show
    and told but i still get errors.
    Where can i find Code list for air, i mean codes that work
    with Air ?
    The problem that i ran into is this one:
    close.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, doClose);
    function doClose(e:MouseEvent):void{
    stage.window.close();
    And the error (is about strage.window.close() )
    1119: Access of possibly undefined property window through a
    reference with static type flash.display:Stage.

    The error says that the object 'stage' doesn't have a
    property 'window'. And if I open the Help in Flex Builder and do a
    search for 'stage', I come to the reference for
    'flash.display.Stage', and indeed, there is no 'window' property.
    This answers your other question: the manual is inside Flex
    Builder. 60 seconds of googling and poking around on Adobe's site
    says the online version of this is here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/air/
    If I had to guess how to close the main window
    programmatically, it would be:
    this.nativeWindow.close()
    from within the WindowedApplication scope, or:
    Application.application.nativeWindow.close()
    from anywhere else in the program.
    Also, you don't have to define the function separately in
    this instance. That's procedural thinking. ActionScript has
    first-class functions:
    close.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, function
    (e:MouseEvent):void { this.nativeWindow.close(); });

  • Here is how to enable full screen mode for AIR Mac Desktop Apps

    I just discovered that with a very simple native extension method, I can enable full screen mode for AIR Mac Desktop Applications.
    This gets you the full screen icon in the top right, and it works perfectly with no changes to my code. (Obviously only works on Lion and above, since this is a Lion feature)
    Enjoy.
    Here's the code:
        FREObject _EnableFullScreenMode(FREContext ctx, void* functionData, uint32_t argc, FREObject argv[])
            //We should be okay to do this, even on 10.6, according to this post:
            //http://www.cocoabuilder.com/archive/cocoa/311124-implementing-full-screen-for-10-7-but-app-should-also-run-on-10-6.html
            //We can't use [NSApp mainWindow] - didn't appear to work
            //This seems to though:
            NSArray * allWindows = [NSApp windows];
            if (allWindows.count > 0)
                NSWindow *mainWindow = [allWindows  objectAtIndex: 0];
                NSWindowCollectionBehavior behavior = [mainWindow collectionBehavior];
                behavior |= NSWindowCollectionBehaviorFullScreenPrimary;
                [mainWindow setCollectionBehavior:behavior];
            //TODO: Return a boolean instead depending on if we found the main window
            return NULL;

    Press Control + Command + F on your keyboard to enter or exit full screen mode.

  • Repeatedly prompted for air play password?

    At work I am repeatedly prompted to enter a password for Air Play though I've never even setup an Air Play password.  This just started happening to me recently and is random.....some days it never pops up and days like today It's popped up multiple times.  Very frustrating.

    Hello leavitt050,
    It may help to force close all open apps and reset your device.
    Force an app to close in iOS
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT5137
    Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT1430
    If you're still getting prompted for an AirPlay password, the next step would be to reinstall iOS on your device by placing it in Recovery Mode, then choosing Update in iTunes.
    Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
    Put your device in recovery mode.
    When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.
    If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on

  • Developing for 'Air for TV' with Flash builder 4.5?

    How can I target Adobe Air 2.5 when using Flash Builder 4.5 so I can develop for Adobe Air for TV?
    When I change the app.xml file to point to 2.5, I get the following error:
    "Namespace 2.5.0 in the application descriptor file should be equal or higher than the minimum version 2.6.0 required by Flex SDK."

    I was finally able to get my app on a Samsung TV. Here's some more info on this subject. You actually have to overlay the Air 2.6 SDK - not the 2.5 SDK.
    Also make sure when you finally package the TV app to change the application XML to point to 2.5,. During development you can leave it as 2.6.
    @see http://learn.adobe.com/wiki/display/airquestions/AIR+for+TV
    What tools do developers use to create AIR 2.5.1 apps for TVs?
    Developers can use the following tools:
    AIR 2.6 SDK
    Flash Professional CS5 Extension for AIR 2.5 (now an integral feature in Flash Professional CS5.5)
    Flash Builder 4.5
    Note: Developers can use the AIR 2.6 SDK for developing apps for AIR 2.5.1 for TV. In Flash Professional, set the publish settings to Adobe AIR 2.5. In Flash Builder, set the AIR namespace to 2.5 in the app descriptor file:
    <application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/2.5">.
    If you are using Flash Builder 4.5, you must do the following:
    Download the Flex 4.1.0.16076 SDK.
    Download the AIR 2.6 SDK.
    Copy each file from the AIR 2.6 SDK into the corresponding directory within the Flex 4.1 SDK, replacing the Flex original variants.
    To use this SDK within Flash Builder, select your project in the Flash Builder package explorer.
    Choose Project > Properties to open the project's Properties dialog box.
    Select Flex Compiler in the list and then click the "Configure Flex SDKs" link to open the Preferences dialog box.
    Click the Add button, browse to the SDK, and then click OK until you get back to the project's Properties dialog box.
    Click the "Use a specific SDK" option and then pick Flex 4.1 from the drop-down menu.
    You must also replace the default WindowedApplication element with Application in your project's MXML file.

  • Code Signing Cert for AIR and MSI

    If a Code Signing Certificate for AIR is purchased, can that same certificate be used when distributing the package using MSI?
    Or does it not matter as long as the AIR app is signed?

    No, this was a different problem that created similar symptoms.
    I just found out that, since Director 11.5, we can put the Xtras folder inside a projector. I was relying on outdated documentation, both online and in my mind, which said the xtras had to be next to the projector.
    Weirdly, putting the Xtras folder inside the Contents folder (inside the bare stub projector) solved the problem I was having: my sound was not functioning after I code signed the xtra that enables sound. Now it works fine.
    I also created an error when my projector's INI file set Movie01 to a Director movie in the same folder as the projector. Now I have it instead point to a movie in the Resources folder of the projector. So maybe I will just throw all my movies and supporting files in the Resources folder.
    I too am thinking of documenting the process, once I know customers are buying my app and using it successfully. Maybe I'll use screen recording to create a set of YouTube tutorials. That can spare others from this confusion and aggravation, and encourage people to buy the latest version of Director and update their old products. The more money that Adobe earns from Director, the more they will be encouraged to invest in developing Director further.
    If Apple will accept apps without receipt validation, that will certainly simplify things. I saw an Apple web page that stated it was mandatory, but that page has been changed. Maybe validation is optional but no longer required.
    For details, check this:
    https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/releasenotes/General/ValidateAppStoreReceipt/Intro duction.html
    but luckily there is source code out there that can be used to handle those technical details.
    I'm wondering how you applied your set of icons to your bare stub projector. Did you simply replace the projector.icns file? I created an error when I tried that.

  • What is the minimumPatchLevel for Air 2.7.1 ?

    I have an Air/Android app and I would like to make sure the user gets prompted to install the latest AIR runtime, in case he/she haven't updated in a while.
    I understand that setting the minimumPatchLevel in the manifest will do the trick, but how do I find out the one that corresponds to Air 2.7.1 ?

    In general, NativeApplication.nativeApplication.runtimePatchLevel reports the patch level of the runtime hosting the application.
    However, unless you're interested in a specific minimum patch level (under a major runtime version), specifying the correct application descriptor namespace (e.g. http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/2.7) should be sufficient. For submission to the Amazon App Store, you'll need to ensure that the correct link for AIR is specified when packaging your application's .apk. More details can be found at: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/903573.

  • BSoD Packager for AIR

    I'm running v1 of TCS on a Dell Optiplex 755 w/4GB RAM. When
    I run RoboHelp Packager for AIR on any output, repeat "any output,"
    after I review the output and exit the packager, I get a BSoD. This
    is dependable and replicable...10 times so far today trying to
    diagnose it. Test has rulled out a RAM issue. Any advise?

    I may have found the issue:
    When I spin an AIR application from WebHelp output and
    preview the AIR application, or
    when I Preview an application from the AIR Packager Generate
    dialog,
    if I Cancel the dialog before I close the AIR application,
    the OS will BSoD every time;
    if I Cancel the Generate dialog without first closing the AIR
    application, the AIR Packager exits and returns control to me
    without error, every time.
    This sounds like a memory management bug of a garbage
    collection bug.
    When I close the fresh AIR application before I exit the AIR
    Packager, apparently the AIR Packager attempts to clear memory,
    finds that <some address> is already clear, and barfs with
    "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" every time.

  • RoboHelp 8 for AIR - Comment Feature

    I'm currently using RH7. I noticed in the marketing blitz for
    RH8 it mentions that the RH packager for AIR allows user comments
    to be posted within your help project. I'm trying to understand if
    this means:
    a. User makes comment on their C drive for their own personal
    reference
    b. User posts comment to a web server for all to see (and
    help author to moderate)

    While Peter's feverishly going back through his hand-written
    notes (he keeps them on wax tablets), let me jump in here.
    Comments stay with the AIR file wherever it is located.
    Comments are identified by machine username, whether the AIR
    file is on your local machine or on a server.
    1. I copied an AIR file to a server location.
    2. I made a comment which, when added, displayed my username.
    3. I copied the AIR file back to my machine.
    4. The new comment appeared.
    In addition, you can sync comments from multiple local
    machines, by exporting/importing comment file (
    Send and Receive comments > Send to file/Receive from
    file). For testing, I: 1) exported two comments; 2) edited the
    file by changing <authorname> and <comment> values; and
    3) imported the edited comments, which appeared along with my old
    ones (but identified by the different author name).
    Based on my initial observations, then, you could even share
    comment files between your customers and your organization (after
    moderating the entries, if need be).
    How your customers use the help (shared or loaded on users'
    local machines) will determine how you instruct them to use the
    comments feature, as well as how to possibly interact with you, the
    vendor.
    Good luck,
    Leon
