Blackberry 6.0 problems- computer will not restart

I tried to install the blackberry desktop software version 6 on my computer.  The computer will not work now, CPU usage is at 100 % and System Restore did not help fix the issues either.  Computer is running Win XP SP3, The installation has also affected the Wirelees card on the computer, and will not let the computer run unless the Wireless card id disable and shut off.  There is also a file that keeps trying to install call Roxie Media Manager, which the file is not where to be found and is not downloadable on you support site.  I am in the process of reloading my entire computer to fix this problem.  THIS is the second time that I have had to reload because of doing an update from Blackberry.  If there is a solution for this it is not listed in any forums on this site.  If your software has not been tested with all operating systems, this needs to be stated in the download information before someone downloads the new updates.  I love my phone, but the Desktop software is a major drawback to anyone that needs their computer on a daily basis.  Please come up with a fix or notice that will avoid this problem.

I've never had any problems with DM6 on WinXP, SP3.
I've mentioned on here several times that I don't recommend using the Roxio software, it's just to buggy I think.

  • In the process of the latest os update my computer will not restart or be started--is dead

In the process of the latest OS update my computer will not restart or be started. It is dead. HELP

    sueellen1954,
which model Mac do you have?

  • Mac OSX sofware update problems-computer will not start-up any more

    Hello
I am having problems & I cannot get back into my computer. It won't complete the start up & just has the grey apple in the middle of the white screen and nothing else.
I have an iBook G4 with Tiger on it - I am not sure which version of Mac OS X I was on when I did the software update but the one I was on last year when I came to this forum was 10.4.8 & I think I have updated it a few times since then so it was probably as I was attempting to install 10.4.11 as I do not have Leopard yet.
The problem began when I did the Mac OSX update that it told me about in software update & when it had completed the update it said I needed to restart my computer which I did & ever since then it will not completely re-boot. (Like I said it just has the white screen/grey apple before it gives the option of who you want to login as).
It seems as though other people have been having similar problems after installing Mac OSX software updates but I cannot find anything here in the forum that solves my problems (or at least not that I can understand at th moment...!)
I need to access things off my computer & can't. Not everything on there was backed up as I had been working on things that day/week. I also don't know how to access my files from another computer (the ones I am trying to connect from does not have tiger it is a PowerBook G4 & it has Mac OSX 10.3.9 on it).
Does anyone know the reason for this problem & how to access files from another computer via an etheret cable in OSX. I know someone who says it was a lot easier to connect computers before Mac OSX days but now it seems really difficult. The only way to start up my iBook G4 is using the Mac OSX install disk & I have tried to verify & repair hard disk permissions using disk utility that comes on the disk as well as verifying & repairing the actual disk but this has not fixed the problem.
I am hoping that I will be able to at least access my files & copy them over to be backed up before I do an erase & install of Mac OSX from the disks. But I am unsure of how to connect my iBook the PowerBook G4 I am on right now. Please help if you know how!
    Thanks,
    Jazamin

This just worked for my by connecting my other PPC computer to my G5.

Go down to the other link and follow the same instructions.
You must start up the good computer and shut down the frozen one. Connect via firewire and then hold down the T key while you start the frozen one.
It will show up on your good one, and then install the combo on the frozen one.
Hold down the power key on that computer to shut it down, disconnect and then start up again.
    Good luck

  • Computer will not restart after using it as a firewire disk

I was trying to transfer my photos and music from my Powerbook G4 to my Mac Mini so set up the laptop as a target firwire drive. The transfer work but when I went to re-boot my laptop it just sticks a few seconds afetr I turn it on with the spining cirical under the apple logo.
Any idea why this is the case and how I can fix it?

    Hi Findlay ,
Try starting up in "Safe Mode". If that does not work boot from your OS 10.4 Install disk and run repair disk:
    Repair Disk:
    Steps for using Disk Utility
    1. Insert your Mac OS X CD-ROM disc or Restore DVD disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key until you see the spinning gear..
    2. Once started up from CD or DVD, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu.
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from disc to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume, if necessary.
    6. Click Repair.
If you repair errors run it until no errors found.

  • Have been restarting imac due to sbbod but now computer will not restart.  Wheel under Apple logo just continues to spin. What do I do now?

After every minute or so of use, I get the SBBOD.  Until now, I have been able to restart computer to try to work on problem.  But now the computer won't even start.  The wheel under the Apple logo just spins.  I did hardware test before and it was fine.  Now what?

Try a Safe Boot. Hold down Shift at restart and give it much longer to boot. Leave it a while there without opening anything; then restart normally, but don't open anything for a few minutes. Then slowly open applications you use until you see at what point the SBBOD returns.
Check to see how much CPU is being used in Activity Monitor in Utilities.

  • Power switch problems (computer will not start)?

When I woke up this morning my (new) computer refused to start, it worked fine yesterday. Since the LED on the PSU was on I figured that it was something wrong with the power button. I switched places of the reset and power button on the mobo and the computer booted fine one (1) time, but wouldn't start the second time i tried.
Any idea of what could be wrong?

  • Windows will not restart properly when iPod is Connected!

Please help...I am running Windows XP and i have a 5th Gen iPod. My computer will not restart when I have my iPod connected to my computer, it starts then after a few seconds it just goes to a blank screen. Yet if I unplug my iPod my compter will restart correctly. What is the problem?

Reboot the computer. On the very first screen you see, probably a manufacturers name or something similar, it should tell you a button to hit to enter your BIOS or setup. It is generally the delete key, F10, or ESC although it is possible it is something different so look for a section that tells you what button.
Hit that button a couple of times until you enter the setup area. Once there look for an option somewhere of changing the boot order. It will give you options of which devices to boot from first. Such as harddrive, cdrom, floppy, usb, etc. If it is set to boot the usb before the harddisk, just change the order around so that usb is after the harddisk.

  • TOSHIBA A-215 SATELLITE WILL NOT RESTART

Computer will not restart as of about 2- months ago.  When I try to restart, computer will shut down normally, but will not boot up.  The screen will go totally dark.  What I have to do is to hold the power on/ off button down for about 4- seconds & computer will then turn off.  I then wait for a few minutes & press power on button & will immediately start & boot normally.  I have no idea what has caused this, but I had a quick remote assistance done recently & was told there is a great possibility that the registry has corrupted files.  What can I try exactly to diagnose & repair this problem?

I don't think so. You must have CDs - not floppies.
If you have the original recovery discs, see the instructions in the section Hard Disk Recovery using the Recovery media, which begins on p. 59 of the User's Guide.

  • Computer will not shut down.  Claims Finder will not quit.

My system is Mac OS X 10.5.8 The computer will not restart. The error message is that Finder refuses to quit. I have not tried to power off the computer using power button b/c I am concerned that might lead to more problems. Other applications seem to be running slow but the failure to restart is the big problem. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello KathleenB,
Have you tried manually killing the Finder processes by using *Activity Monitor* which you can be located by going to *Applications -> Utilties -> Activity Monitor*. Look for the Finder process and click the *Quit Process* button. Don't worry if Finder processes reappear.
Then go ahead and try restarting your system to see if that helps.

  • After updating today MacPro with OS 10.7.5 will not restart, can someone advise what to do?

Had an OS update today, from OS X Lion to ver 10.7.5 which needed to restart to install.  My computer will not restart.  Have MacPro.

Ok so here's what happened. My machine has 8GB Ram. We tested the Ram and moved it between the cards & slots in the Mac in various combinations. As far as we can tell Ram is fine. We removed two sticks of Ram and now the machine runs with 6Gb Ram... At a loss to explain why but the machine is now running again and seems normal if a little slower. Will continue to run with 6 and see what happens.

I have the exact same problem. I have not changed anything. This is probably a bug or something that has gone bad with Mac OS X (10.7.2). I have not found any solution for this on the web.
