Blackberry 8120 4.5 Earth symbol on home Screen

There is an 'earth' symbol  (number 1 next to it) on my home screen to the left of the date and time, I've searched the tutorials but do not understand what and why it's there?
Any help appreciated.

  • Permanent 1 unread message symbol on home screen

    Hi!
I have a relatively new Blackberry Curve 8330 (I bought it about 2 months ago!) and the symbols at the top of the home screen (for missed calls, unread messages, etc.) had been working fine until a couple of weeks ago when the unread message symbol became stuck on the screen for some time now.  I have gone through all my messages and even pressed "U" to find unread messages - but the following message comes up:
    "No unread messages in list."
There seems to be no real reason for the symbol to stay popped up, since all of my messages have been read.
It's annoying me and I really want to get rid of the symbol, since there are no unread messages.
How should I go about this?
    Thank you!

  • Help! Blackberry Curve 8530 won't go to Home screen only stays at carrier screen!

The other day I updated my Quick Pull app. I forgot to reset the times in which i wanted it to reboot. Last night I remembered and set the time. I normally set it for 3, but since it was 3 it wouldn't be able to reboot until this evening. After I was done with my phone, I rebooted it manually by going to the app and clicking reboot. My battery was also low in the red so I stuck the charger in it. When I woke up this morning my phone was dead, if had fell on the floor and the charger came out. I put the charger back in a waited a little while for it to charge. When it came on, it only went to the Cricket screen, but would not go to the home screen. I took the battery out multiple times, I waited patiently, yet my phone is still stuck on the cricket screen.. Is there anyway to reset it so that it can work again?

    Please try this first:
Leave the device to charge 2-3 hours, and then, still connected to the charging cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. If it boots--leave it to charge to 100% (check Options > Status for the percentage). If it doesn't reboot on the first attempt, leave it several more hours. I've had one charge for two days before it came back to life after an extreme battery depletion. Every 3-4 hours, with the device still connected to the charger, you can remove and replace the battery to see if it reboots.

That's a browser push message if it is yellow.
If it's blue, it's a WAP push message.
    1. Open your main Messages folder.
    2. Press the Menu key (left of the trackball).
    3. Click on View Folders.
    4. Click on Browser Push messages (or WAP Push Messages).
    5. Read or delete the messsage.

  • Strange symbol on home screen

About two days ago, a symbol I have never seen before showed up on my BB Curve 8530 homescreen. I have had this phone for about 2 years. It appears at the top of the screen next to where it shows an envelope and the number of unread emails I have. It looks like a white rectangle with a black dot in the middle, and then there is a red dot located near the upper right corner (the red dot hangs off of the rectangle, if that makes sense). What does it mean? How do I get rid of it?? I searched online and on my phone and have yet to figure it out. Thanks for your help.

It means you have a message from a group in BB messenger

  • Failed to load ODBC library symbol: /export/home/odbc/ODBC60/lib/libodbc.so

I've been trying to create a database link from a MySQL database to Oracle using the Oracle dg4odbc gateway. I downloaded and installed DataDirect's ODBC package which includes mysql ODBC library (ddmysql24.so) and a generic ODBC libary (libodbc.so). After creating the DSN in odbc.ini, I tested it and it can connect to the mysql database. Then I created the init{SID}.ora file in hs/admin directory, added dg4odbc lines in the listener.ora, and added lines in tnsnames.ora. Then I tnspinged the new SID with success. Finally, I created the database link. However, when I tried to access the database, I got the ORA-28500 error. In the trace log, I found the following:

on which platform did you install DG4ODBC? On a 64bit? In this case did you install the 64bit DD ODBC driver?
What is the output of: file dg4odbc
    and: file /export/home/odbc/ODBC60/lib/libodbc.so
can you also please clarify your statement: .. and a generic ODBC libary (libodbc.so). Datadirect ODBC drivers come with their own driver manager ... and you have to use their driver manager with their drivers.

  • Blackberry 8120 is driving me mad!

    Hello All
New to forums and also Blackberry.
Recently bought a Blackberry 8120 on Orange in the UK, Everything works great, email, calls, text, everything is fab.
What is really driving me insane is the phone is so unreliable.
For some unknown reason, the phone just has a habbit of dieing on me. Be it sitting doing nothing or in the middle of a call, it just dies for no reason, I have to take the battery out and replace it and let it reboot to get it back into life.
I am getting fed up being in the middle of a call and the phone failing (Even when the battery is at 80%), its not dropping calls, the phone is just dieing, black screen and no service light.
Does anyone have any ideas? Would be gratefull for any help / feedback.
I love my phone, but im really starting to not be impressed with Blackberry!
    Many thanks!

From the horror stories I've heard with BB this will be my last one as soon as my contract ends. Mine hasn't turned itself off in the middle of a conversation yet- just if I press it gently in the middle or jar it and sometimes for no reason whatsoever but hearing some of the other problems this is minor! My only concern is if I should fall and its turned itself off and can't get it to turn back on without plugging it in to a mains or car and could be where I'm unable to. Very disappointed.

  • Blackberry 8330 Home Screen

So my sprint blackberry 8330's home screen is blank, all it shows is the BB menu, time, battery, signal, and volume, whenever I roll the ball over to where all the previous icons were all that shows up is a yellow circle highlighting an empty space, and when I switch over to the BB menu it remains the same except for that there's no icons except for the time, etc, etc & I can get into my messages and all by pressing ALT & Back, but I want to restore my icons, & I've tried the whole call log>menu>options>general options>switching the dial homescreen to no> exiting to homescreen>press "O"
but when I hold down the "O" all it says is if I want to add a speed dial to it ? & every now & the it says error 523. Any help?/: please.

  • I can not get the ringer symbol off of my home screen on a frequent basis.

I can not get the ringer symbol removed from my home screen on a frequent basis.  I have tried pushing the volume keys and the mute button, but nothing helps.

Hold Sleep Button with Home Button toghether until it restarts Always it takes 8 to 15 seconds, after it restarts leave the sleep button and remember do not leave the home button it automaticlly switches to DFU mode.
