Blackberry 8330 screen remains lit all the time.

My new 8330 screen was darkening properly for a few weeks and now stays lit all the time. I have adjusted the timeout time to several settings and saved the settings before exiting and nothing works. My battery is suffering! Please, has anyone had the same problem and solved the mystery? I did a search before posting this.

Hi Mopars and Welcome to the forums!!
First step in Blackberry troubleshooting:
Have the device in front of you turned ON.
Make sure it is not plugged into the AC charger or USB charger.
Turn it over and take out the battery, WHILST THE DEVICE IS TURNED ON.
Pop the battery back in and wait for it to load back up automatically.
See if this helps the situation!
If your issue is resolved, put a checkmark in the green box that contains the resolution.

Perhaps there is a magic way to switch off the panel light other than switching off the Printer - I have not discovered it.
If it is just a matter of the light bugging yout trip, stick a bit of paper on it with a tape across the top so the paper can be flipped up when you want to use the printer panel.
Taped Paper is not a solution: this is called a Workaround.

There should be an off / on switch but these cost money -- timer's cost money, tiny bits that switch the screen on and off for sleep mode cost money.
Adding anything to the display to make it smarter adds one more place for the display to break because it adds complexity -- and costs money.
Tiny amounts of money and little bits of add complexity -- times thousands and thousands of printer displays.

Screen stays on all the time power savings set up

My imac's screen stays on all the time now once I upgraded snow leopard to 10.6.3 it has been doing this since I got the settings so that the screen turns off 3 minutes after inactivity but the screen never turns off now.
the only time the screen turns off is when front row is running.
Any ideas?

That is a bit quick to turn off the display from inactivity but that would be a personal choice. I let mine run for at least 10 minutes before the Screen Saver activates and then another ten minutes before turning off the display.
Try resetting the PRAM and the Systems Management Controller.
Reset the PRAM
• (Re)start the computer
• Immediately press & hold the CommandOption+PR keys
• Wait for two startup chimes
• Release the keys and allow the computer to boot.
Reset the SMC
• Shut down the computer.
• Detach the computer's power cord.
• Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
• Release the power button.
• Reattach the computers power cable.
• Turn on the computer.

5 Phase - ALL LIT ALL THE TIME

Hello everyone again!!
OK... quick question... read in the manual about the 5 phase led indicators on the board... but there was no reference to what the power levels actually mean... mine is showing all 5 blue led's lit all the time.... is this a bug??? Should it drop to less lights when at idle?
Any information is greatly appreciated...

With the x58 pro, all 5 LEDs will be lit all the time unless you use the Greenpower utility with BIOS version 7.0. If you update BIOS to 7.1, there is a Greenpower setting in the BIOS in which you can enable, and then when CPU is idle, only 1 or 2 LEDs will be lit. When working all 4 or 5 will be lit. The less LEDs lit, the less work your CPU is doing, and the less energy it is using. Hope this helps.

Try to reset it. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot. If that doesn't help then you may need to make an appointment at your local apple store and have them look it over.

My screen goes black all the time!

Ever since I installed Leopard, my screen will go black if I don't type anything for just a few minutes. (I can barely see what's on the screen ... BARELY)
My laptop is plugged in and receiving power so that's the reason.
I have checked my power settings at that is not the issue.
I have checked the timing on my screen saver and that is not the issue. (my screen saver doesn't start when this occurs)
Does any have any suggestions?

Sorry you're having this problem.
A few years ago we had a similar issue on one of our machines, it was an early MacBook. Ended up being a cracked circuit connection on the motherboard. Changes in temperature caused the crack to expand and contract resulting in a shut-down followed by an automatic reboot. Sometimes over-and-over. I understood from AppleCare at the time that those symptoms could have also been any number of things including a intermittent issue with a powersupply.
If you take it back to the Apple Store at some point, I would ask them to have it run some CPU intensive tasks that closely resemble what you are doing when the screen goes black. It took us several try's to find the problem. Calling AppleCare each time to discuss it and troubleshoot before making the trips to the Apple Store really moved things along. In fact, it wasn't until the Apple Store had cracked the case from the inside that things kicked into a higher gear and AppleCare phone support sent out a pre-paid FedX package to send it to a refurbishing facility. Never a problem since and I know the people who have the machine today.
PS Can identify with the trip to the Apple Store, our closest one is in Knoxville, 2hrs from us.

Awesome: Windows remain present all the time after libpng update

After the libpng update this week, my awesome behvaes strange.
As awesome depends on cairo-xcb, I‘ve downloaded the tarball from this page, extracted it and ran makepkg -s followed by sudo pacman -U. Seemed to work, so I repeated these steps both for awesome and vicious-git and finally ran sudo pacman -Syu. During the last few days, I repeated some of theses steps (eg. I rebuilt cairo-xcb again)
So I was able to launch Awesome again, but some strange issues occured: After closing (or even killing) windows or switching tags, windows remain present. The awesome context menu behaves as these windows: It does not vanish. In fact, if I open more than one window, awesome becomes practically unuseable.
I moved my awesome config file (~/.config/awesome/rc.lua) and therefore awesome loaded the default config file, but the error occured again.
So, after googling and asking in the IRC (nice to know that most awesome guys do not have problems with this update…), I finally use the forum

PS: Obviously, the “awesome“ in the title refers to the window manager not to the awesomeness of this error.
//Edit: If I move windows, they leave some lines behind them, so awesome seems to have problems redrawing the screen correctly…

For some reason I use the non-git-version, so I built the git version and installed it. Even after rebuilding cairo-xcb again, I get the same problem again So, how to use xcompmgr?

So o got my ipad 2 just a little over a year ago &just recently my screen is starting to have this glitch. It really wasnt that bad at first, it would slightly glitch when I first use it then in about 5 minutes it would clear up. I've tried leaving it off for a day or two without turning it on or anything. But when i turned it on to see, the screen eas completely white, I could still see the images but they seemed to be in "negative" and it still glitches but now its worse. I've also tried updating my ipad to the newest software, also I have tried restarting it, nothing has happened. Please let me know how I can fix this.

Make an appointment at your local apple store and take it in.

HT201412 my ipod screen goes white all the time and shuts down so i can barely go on it

once i get on it, 5 seconds later the screen goes white and shuts down

- Try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Amd screen driver crashes all the time

Godday, I just recently (today in fact) got my Toshiba L650 18c home from repair since its harddrive crashed for thesecond time.. Now IM having a new problem the video driver keeps crashing, sometimes leading too a BSOD, I triedrecovering the system, even tried installing other drivers, but since they're not from Toshiba.. Well u can't, so IMasking, anyone of u guys tried this, and what the heck do u do when the driver u get from Toshiba wont work? Kind of fed up sending my laptop too repair 3 times in 3 months

My computer is a Dell with 4bg RAM. It works perfect, with internet and several programs runing cpu usage goes upt to 60% top. normaly runs at 155 top, but as soon as I start itunes it goes to 100% and remains there making almost imposible to use the computer, even loading files to the library takes several minutes and trying to conect my ipod is almost5 imposible. I sude this pc before with itunes and ipod with no problmes. I appreciate any help on this

I'm having the same issue for more than a month. When it's not open it's draing the cpu making the pc run slow and when open the cpu is maxxed at 100% that the I can barely use the computer and can't sync. And I only use it to back up and sync. Just downloaded the new version today thinking it would help but it didn't. Interesting to see if anyone has any answers.
