Blackberry 8520 Curve freezing on boot up

Hi,
My boyfriend recently got a BB from a friend to replace his broken one. when replacing the simcard the phone wouldn't turn on, not even when connected to a computer. So i tried to update the software however this failed and now the phone will boot to 2/3rds and then freezes. I have tried to wipe the phone and reinstall the OS however this doesnt work either. The program used to wipe does not connect to the phone and it appears I cannot overwrite the OS without wiping it first. Any suggestions would be great!
Whilst I'm at it... I have my own old curve which I then gave to my brother when I upgraded. He failed to tell me that he'd dropped it in water and just said the keys were broken so I was unable to dry it out at the time. The phone works but none of the keys or tracking pad do. I have upgraded the OS and even wiped the software and done a total reinstall and still no luck.
Any help would be great! Thanks xxx

Your boyfriend BB can be Fixed !
First try this:
http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB18998
Not working then:
visit www.bbsak.org and download the software and your good to go
if your BB was not detected by the software, your BB driver on your PC is corrupted. The only solution is reinstalling the BB Desktop Software and try resetting your device to factory resetting, or Simple User account switch would work.
Your Brothers BB had met its demise:

I am unable to open pdf file in my blackberry 8520 curve. Can anyone help me in this regards. The mobile does't have any pdf reader pre installed. Do we need to install software, if so please send me the link to download or the software itself.

PDF files can be easily viewed as an attachment to an email.
If you are wanting to view a PDF file downloaded to your Media Card, you will need a third party application, such as PDFtoGO, BeamReader or Repligo. Google will find any of those three for you.
    Good luck.

  • Application error with blackberry 8520 curve

    hello,
i own a blackberry 8520 curve and i keep having the same problem with logging in into yahoo messenger.
while i can log in from a PC or another phone, logging in from this phone seems impossible, regardless the account i try logging in with. after it displays the ''connecting to" message it pops this: "'internal error. please try again''.
i tried reintroducing the internet connection settings; i reinstalled the application, i've put another SIM card into this phone and i've removed all the entries from my yahoo account's apps and website connections list  - and it keeps popping the error message
i hope receiving an answer, 'cause it's been 4 days without getting to use the app.

  • Blackberry 8520 curve hangs, suddenly white screen comes and the only solution is to re-insert battery with power source on?

My Blackberry 8520 curve suddenly hangs giving a white screen and when i restart it - the screen remains white. After i put it into charge - then only a successful start is done. So the only solution as of now i have - is whenever my blackberry hangs - i need to remove the battery - insert it again - and immediately put it into charging via USB/Electric-Power. Even if i re-insert the battery - the white screen comes - unless and until i put it into charging Earlier i was guessing - my battery was weak - but no such problem. pls advise.

  • Hindi Language in Blackberry 8520 Curve

    Hi there,
I am unable to see hindi posts/fonts on blackberry 8520 curve.
Please assist me how to get this done.
    Regards

Its a mere perception that Blackberry 8520 Version 5.xx doesn't support Hindi or Indic fonts.
Visit the following url from your Blackberry handset having operating system version 5.0 and above, including old Blackberry device 8520
    http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/23613317/A_HindiFont/hindifont4bb.jad
     dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/23613317/A_HindiFont/hindifont4bb.jad
    Download hindifont4bb.jad file
You can download the Indic font for Blackberry and install it. You will be able read and write Hindi characters on your handset.
    Please confirm if it works.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Shivshankar

  • New Blackberry 8300 Curve Freezes during accessing multiple application

My new Blackberry 8300 Curve freezes when accessing applications from Home screen.  The only application I have added to my BB is Windows Live Messenger and Facebook is activated.  File free is 47590904 Bytes.
There is no one application that appears to cause the BB to freeze.  From frozen screen it then goes to white screen with hour glass, and then seems to operate fine for a time.
Is this a bad BB?  Should I take it back to the store?

    Try a battery pull:
    1. Take out the battery
    2. Wait one minute
    3. Reinsert it again and let the phone startup (could take a few minutes)
    This usually solves most problems

  • Problems with Blackberry 8520 Curve Camera / Videocamera

Hello everybody, please help... I've only had my BB for 2 months & already I"m having problems with my Camera on my BB 8520 curve.
I've taken a video and then moved the scroller (mine is a ball) to save and then it got stuck on send and it doesn't want to move.  If I scroll from left to right it zooms in or out instead of giving me the options to save the file.  That means I cannot use my Videocamera at the moment, because I haven't saved the video I've taken more than a week ago.  I've tried switching off the phone but it doesn't work
This weekend I've also discovered that my camera doesn't want to zoom anymore if I want to take a picture.  Whether I scroll the ball up & down or left and right... no zooming...
    Please help!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
Good luck and let us know!

  • My blackberry 8520 keeps freezing and crashing

i can't get onto my phone once i take the battery out because it keeps crashing, is there a reset button on blackberry curve 8520 ecause if not i can't use my phone right back asap thank you

I bought the new snow leopard disk directly from Apple, so it is fine. disk utiliy erase/formats the disk drive and shows a fully verified disk, then the osx install proceeds smoothly. Then after the install, eventually the disk crashes again with spinning beachball. It will either let me shutdown eventually or i must force shutdown and then it won't reboot and must use the cd-boot again. disk utility then says it can't verify the disk (Invalid B-tree node size) and the process statrts all over again.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Here is a KB that discusses that error:
KB16471 BlackBerry Desktop Software prompts that an Internet connection is required to configure synchronization
    Hopefully it contains something useful!
As an alternate method, from a PC, you can install any OS package to a BB via this procedure:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. You can even use a different carriers OS package by simply inserting, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion, on your PC, of a file named VENDOR.XML. Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

  • New BBM version 6.1.0.49 Icon had disappeared on my blackberry 8520 curve smart phone

I'm so annoyed, angry and very disappointed one's again by the Reserch In Motion.
My BBM Icon disappeared since I've upgraded to bbm.6.1.0.49 version, my current OS version is 5.0.0.592, I've rebooted my blackberry phone but I can't seem to find my bbm, its no longer exist on my blackberry smart phone, I even done the pulling a battery out trick and I've try to Re-install it, checked the unhidden
files, then I deleted the new 6.1.0.49 version and install old
version, but nothing changed, I still can't find my bbm icon.
Does this means I'm no longer a bbm user or is the any solution to this anniying problem? Rim is failing its customers one's again. I'm totaly not happy, its like a have gone back into using a nokia phone though I have a blackberry but without a bbm it's so useless.

does that include with the new os update as well? but on a blackberry bold 9780 as thats the one i have and have the same problem

  • Blackberry 8520 curve

Can't seem to find the radio on my phone but in my ussers guide it sayd it does any ideas?

Radio as in AM or FM broadcast radio? Nope.
The 'radio' to which it refers is the mobile network signal, your wireless connection to your carrier... that radio.
Now, if you want radio as in music, try some third party applications like Pandora radio, iHeartRadio, flycast.fm, and many many others, check out AppWorld and install.
