Blackberry 8700 email account

I have just obtained a Blackberry 8700 and have a Vodaphone Pay-as-you-go sim card. When I try to add my email account I just have a choice between:
I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server
I want to skip email setup
I have tried googling and got advice to download BIS software. I found software downloads on the BlackberryFAQ site and downloaded what I thought was the correct package for my platform. but when I tried to setup from the PC it said there was no suitable software included.
What else do I need to do? Do I need a BIS account from the service provider?
Any help appreciated.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
To use the proprietary BB services (including Push email capability, BBM, etc.), you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), your BB-proprietary services will function (e.g., you will have Personal/Internet Email added to the email setup wizard, your BBM will function, etc).
http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_do_I_need_a_Data_Plan_for%3F
With hundreds of carriers in the world, each with dozens of different data plans, it's impossible to tell you specifically what any service plan might actually provide. Only the carriers can answer that question. The best thing to do is to decide what services you desire, and then talk to your carrier about obtaining (from them) a data plan that enables what you desire.
Good luck!

  • Blackberry 9670 email accounts button under set up wont open

I just started using my BB 9670 flip phone again after about a year using another phone.  I have an email set up on my BB already, but I'm wanting to set up another email, but when I go to setup then click on email accounts, the button won't open.  Why is this??  What do I need to do to get this to work again.  Thanks for any help!!  cindy

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Resend Service Books (pre-BB10 devices only)
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. IF this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you might have better luck with, from your BB Browser, this URL:
    www.blackberry.com/integrate
Or, if your carrier has a BIS website, using that via PC/browser.
Otherwise, you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support, and to be sure that you are still subscribed to an adequate data plan to enable this service.
    Good luck!

Before you reload your OS I suggest you call your carrier first. This could be an issue on their end, it may be caused if your carrier  has not correctly provisioned the BlackBerry smartphone for BlackBerry data services.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please see this "sticky" post for helpful information concerning your BBID situation:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-World/How-to-regain-access-to-your-BBID/td-p/25467...
Hopefully, this information will be of use to you. Given your situation, I suspect you cannot get past this without human intervention (which is discussed in that post)...all of the automated recovery methods require either the correct security question response or that the BBID already have been validated, which is the step you are actually now on. Hence, I doubt that the automated recovery methods will work for you.
    Cheers, and Good Luck!

  • One of my blackberry playbook email accounts quit working and I have done everything in my power to get it back up and going to no avail. I finally deleted it and tried to put it back on. Forget that. What is up with this? I have had playbook from the sta

now i am really frustrated with it. Every single update has robbed me of battery power which began with about 8-10 hours of usage and now I am lucky if I get 2 hours. It isn't the battery. It has something to do with the updates to the OS. It was fine until the first one and it has only gotten worse each time. I have had three email accounts on here since they started with the message app and now it has gone crazy. It gives me a server error message each time. I put in the same settings for it as the ones on my laptop to no avail. I am ready to scream. I have worked for days trying to get this email account back on my BB playbook, NOT!  And also I want another reader on here. Kobo is great, but I would love to have another option as well. I tried to put some pdf books on it a few days ago and they wouldn't show up when I put them on. Some did and some didn't. I am so frustrated with playbook. I have loved it till the last 2 weeks. Now, I am extremely frustrated to say the least. Well I have been upset about the battery thing almost from the get go. Can anyone help with the email thing. My email is a bellsouth account. I have 2 yahoo accounts on it and they seem to be fine, but afraid to take them off and re-put them all back on lest they should do the same thing.

There is nothing wrong with the OS update.
    Delete ALL your email accounts.
    Restart Playbook
Put the accounts back and ensure they are all set with PUSH ON.  Manual (push off) will burn battery.
Similarly delete your wifi connections and add back when required.
Turn off wifi is not connected to wifi.
Any "hunting for connection" in email or wifi will burn up battery.

  • Blackberry email account

Hi everyone, this is a question post. I would like to know how to change or cancel my blackberry.net email account?

    jp007,
Go to your applications and find an icon that states "Personal Email Setup", once you click on this icon you will be able to "Delete" any of the accounts thats setup on your device.
An alternative way to view this page is by finding an icon named "Setup Wizard" and going through the menu until you find an option titled "Email Setup", you would then choose "I want to create or add an email address" this too will bring you to the same page to Delete a privious entered email address.
    Hope this helps.

  • Integrating Microsoft Outlook Web Access email address with a BlackBerry Internet Service account

Hi, I would appreciate some help from anybody that can.
I am a new BB user with a Curve 9300 and have been setting up my device. I have run into a problem and am at a dead end as far as solving it.
KB03133 at http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB03133 describes what I am trying to do, my problem is as follows.
The KB contains 2 sets of instructions for achieving the same result, one, the first one to be done on the device and the second to be done on a PC.
In the first set of instructions, I get as far as step 4, step 5 shows an option "i will provide the settings" I dont have that option available, did I mention that the first thing I did when I took the phone out the box was upgrate to os6 and now I believe that this may have been removed as an option so; is there another way to manually provide email account settings on the device?
In the second set of instructions, going directly to the BIS web page, I cant get past the login page, I have tried to register, I have tried to login, I have asked service provider for passwords and I get one dead end after another, I cannot login nor create an account to login to the BIS web site.
I have managed to add two other email accounts and create a new one from the device using the BIS service on the device but as I understand it the device logs you on automatically and therefore I dont have nor need the password on the device.
Any help would be appreciated, after 10 years as a loyal Nokia user I am now hoping that the decision to move to BB was not one I will live to regret.
    Regards
    DS

When you go the BIS account on the PC, is this the place you were told to go by your service provider? My own has my carriers' logo on the page and they provided me with the login details whilst I was on the phone to them. It is THEIR responsibility to set up your BIS and to assist you.
Whether you try OTA or on the PC, you must have access to your BIS and when you finally get it, setting up the email couldn't be easier.
I cannot see why upgrading to OS 6 would affect email set-up but as you suggest, the option to put email server details in may have been removed. They are not necessary with BIS.

  • Problems with email account on BlackBerry Q10

At the start of this week I had 2 email accounts on my BlackBerry Q10.
Calls/SMSes and emails were all being received/sent/allowed without any issue (through wifi and/or usual network connection). The ONLY exception to this was that I was NOT able to send emails from 1 of my 2 email accounts since Monday evening.
When I tried to send a message through this email account on my Blackberry the message showed up with the same icon/symbol to its left as though it was a received message...
I have had this issue before occasionally. Previously i have removed battery and re-started and there has been no problem. This week such a solution didn't work.
I am wondering if it could be an issue due to work performed on the server where our mail is hosted at the start of the week which has 'upset' my Blackberry?
In the end I deleted this faulty 2nd email account this morning and since then am unable to reinstall it...
    Messages I get from regular email account adding is: 'make sure your email address and passwod are entered correctly. If you're trying to add a work account, make sure your enterprise activation code has not expired. Contact your administrator for support;
When I try the advanced option I receve the error message: 'the server mail for your account is not responding. please check your settings and try again'
I have added the exact same email account to my father's iPhone this afternoon and the account has been added and is working fine.
Any ideas why it shoudl work without a problem on the iPhone - and more importantly how to solve the problem and re-add the email account to my BlackBerry? (And then - how to be able to send the messages - if I still have an issue then with sending emails...)
    Thanks!

    Thanks again.
I think it is unlikely that the one email account is interefering with the other one. They have 'happily co-existed' for about a year but maybe I could try removing the one that is currently working, I guess, just to double-check...
How would I know if they are 'BES connected'? I don't remember setting them up initially - it was so long ago... ...and I didn't see any 'prompt' today when trying to add the account back asking if the account should be 'BES' or not?
I did contact our hosting guys but they maintain it is not sth they have done. In any case it still works on my father's iPhone so it seems it is rather a BlackBerry problem in general rather than an issue with my server?
Yes, my BlackBerry ID is related with the email account that I can't add... Could that be an issue? I do have a second email address that I tried to add on this email account (which is different to my BlackBerry ID) and I was unable to add that either - so it would also seem this is not the issue here?
    Thanks for the suggestions...

  • Can't create a personal email account on my Blackberry Curve 8520.

I cannot create an personal email account on my Blackberry Curve 8520. I’ve already followed some of the instructions from this forum and on the main website of Blackberry but still can’t create an email account for my phone.
These are the steps I’m doing when I’m trying to create and email.
From the home screen, go to Setup.
    Click Setup Wizard.
    Click Email Setup.
But when I’m in the email setup, the only option I have is the “I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server.
I don’t have the option of “I want to create or add an email address”.
Now, how can I create a personal email account on my phone?

  • Email account for blackberry

i go to setup wizard to make my email account..but it keeps asking me if my system adminstration gave me a password..who is my system administration and how do i set up my blackberry email account?

Since you're asking the question, I would guess you're selecting the wrong email setup.  You're selecting a Business email setup rather than an Internet email setup.  This is for connecting to a (typically) Corporate BlackBerry Enterprise Server to receive your corporate email.  If you are supposed to be setting this up, your IT department would have sent you an "Enterprise Activation" password.
You want to select Internet Email.  You should have an "Email Setup" or possibly a "Personal Email Setup" icon - if it's not on your main screen, check under the Applications or Setup folders.
That said, it may be easier to set up your email from your computer.  Links for all North American providers is at the bottom of this page:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/software/internet.jsp
One thing.  Typically you get a BlackBerry email account with a domain that ends in @provider.blackberr.net.  While delivery of email through this address is typically almost instantaneous, there are a lot of reasons to NOT use this email address.
For one, there is NO Spam filtering available.  Should your email address get found by Spam operations, you will need to set this email address to NOT forward email to your device, and then tediously add email addresses to be allowed to be delivered.  NOT FUN!
Second, there is no other access to messages through this address.  Once a message is delevered to your BlackBerry, that's the only place it exists, and if you delete it, it's gone forever.
Both Gmail and Yahoo work excelently with a BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) email setup, and you still have access to your email through the Web.  You can synchronize Reads with both, and delete on your BlackBerry can delete on your Web email account.  Yahoo delivery is nearly instantaneous, and sometimes Gmail is too (don't know why some of my accounts are, and some arent!).  Both have excelent SPAM filtering.
Be aware that after you set up one of these email addresses, you want to add a filter to NOT forward email FROM that email address to your device.  If you don't do this, you'll be asking why you receive a copy of any email you send from your BlackBerry - a common newbie complaint!
    Good luck!
    Jerry
