BLACKBERRY 8700 on O2

I have recently purchased a 2nd hand BLACKBERRY 8700, I am trying to get it setup using my O2 sim card on Pay As you Go... I need to get my BBM working, and also access the internet.... I have no idea where to change my settings and how to get a web browser on the phone etc?
Can anyone help?

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as addtional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.
Good luck.

  • Blackberry 8700 email account

I have just obtained a Blackberry 8700 and have a Vodaphone Pay-as-you-go sim card. When I try to add my email account I just have a choice between:
I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server
I want to skip email setup
I have tried googling and got advice to download BIS software. I found software downloads on the BlackberryFAQ site and downloaded what I thought was the correct package for my platform. but when I tried to setup from the PC it said there was no suitable software included.
What else do I need to do? Do I need a BIS account from the service provider?
    Any help appreciated.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
To use the proprietary BB services (including Push email capability, BBM, etc.), you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), your BB-proprietary services will function (e.g., you will have Personal/Internet Email added to the email setup wizard, your BBM will function, etc).
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_do_I_need_a_Data_Plan_for%3F
With hundreds of carriers in the world, each with dozens of different data plans, it's impossible to tell you specifically what any service plan might actually provide. Only the carriers can answer that question. The best thing to do is to decide what services you desire, and then talk to your carrier about obtaining (from them) a data plan that enables what you desire.
    Good luck!

    Hi all,
I have a Blackberry 8700 (its like a brick). v4.2.194 (Platform 2.3.0.77) with an email issue.
When a user deletes an email in Outlook, the email does not delete from the BB.
I have tried email reconciliation on the handeld, and I have also tried wiping the device and re-activating it on BES (5), however the issue still exists.
Any help or advise would be most appreciated, thanks.

  • Blackberry 8700 sync issues with ical using pocketmac

    Hi,
I have a Blackberry 8700, which I am syncing with my Powerbook G4 using Pocketmac Blackberry edition.
It is all fine apart from one thing- sometimes (but not always!) when syncing with ical it will leave the notes off of the end of the appointment.
Has anyone else had this problem or know of any fixes?

I have a different problem syncing my Blackberry with Ical. My Ical shows several "Pocketmac" in the calendar on the left and Ical takes forever to activate. This happens both to my powerbook G4 and on my Imac G5.

  • User certificate installation for blackberry 8700

    Hello there,
I got the user digital certificate. I sent the email to my blackberry ( model 8700 ), opened the email on blackberry and installed the user certificate. But the problem is, the user certificate is showing in "others" certificate instead of "my" Certs. Due to this i think i can't use this certificate while browsing sites which require client authentication.
How do i copy/move user certificate from "Others Cert" to "My Certs"? Or when i install user certificate, how to make sure it gets installed under "My Certs"?
Thanks in advance for any pointers.

  • I can't sync Outlook 2007 with Blackberry 8700 - Calendar, Tasks, Notes

    Hi folks,
I'm new to this forum. I just updated from MS Outlook 2000 to MS Outlook 2007 .. and now am only able to synchronize with the Address Book. I was able to synchronize all 4 items before: Address book, Calendar, Tasks, Notes.
    Device manager - 4.2
    BB 8700 - using Edge, v4.2.1.101 Platform 2.3.0.81
Is there anything I can do?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
If your DTM is truly  4.2 (as in 4.2.0), then it is not compatible with Outlook 2007. See this matrix for compatibility:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB12268&sliceId=1&docTy...
You should update to a newer DTM version -- 4.7 is current -- here:

  • Blackberry 8700-c not getting internet

    Hi,
I'm hoping someone on here can help me.  I have an 8700-C blackberry that I bought from cingular/ATT now, a  couple years ago and 3 days ago I lost internet coverage.  I've talked with the ATT techs & eventually got referred to the BB techs & no one has been able to solve my problem.  I've done at least 10 battery pulls & did a hard reset, wiping clean everything & starting over.  Nothing has worked.  My phone still works, but doesn't ring & the light indicator is sporadic, going off for several hours & then coming back on.  I've been sent new service books/registration several times & ATT even took me off their program & re-instated me.  All to no avail.  Here are the messages I get:
    With the ATT browser:
A failure has occurred during the negotiation of a secure connection with the WAP Gateway.  Please contact your service provider.
And this message when I try to use the blackberry browser:
You are not currently in an area that can handle data communication.  As a result, the browser cannot retrieve any messages.
I am at home - no question of me not being in an unaccessible area!
Any and all ideas would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Qkster2

I couple of things to try...
Ask AT&T again that they have the data services added onto your line. I know they probably say they are, but I had to call 5 times because they screwed up my companies President iphone. They kept taking off the voicemail feature, then they would say they put it back, and didn't. I am now in the habit of calling them, asking them to do add a feature. Waiting an hour or so, then calling back to verify.
Get a new sim. I've had users who have had Berry's working without issue, then stop. Turned out the Sim went bad.
Another options is to update the OS. You can see what version of the OS you are running by holding down the ALT and Caps key then pressing H.
The latest version of the OS can be found Here, Link on RIMS Site
The latest version of the OS is 4.5.0.152. This way will require you to have the Desktop Manager installed.
You might even be able to go Here
And do the update with just an USB cable. I'm actually trying this right now on an AT&T 8700 that is running 4.1.0.337 of the OS.
** 45 minutes later and the phone is updated... very easy process.

  • Blackberry 8700 and Pocketmac

Help? I downloaded the Pocketmac software and when I tried to install it - it informed me that I wasn't authorized? What should I do? Should I have installed the disc that was included with the Blackberry first? AND will it synch with MacMail or do I need to use Entourage mail? Thanks for any help you can lend - I am a new Mac user as well....

Would that be the FREE final? I thought not.

  • Blackberry 8700 speakerphone for first 5 seconds of call

    Hi everyone,
Just recently, after updating my 8700 to the 4.5 OS device software, whenever I answer a call, the calling screen seems to stick for about 5 seconds. During this time the person on the other end is diverted through the speakerphone, it then unsticks and connects the call properly through the ear-speaker as normal. This is incredibly annoying for people calling me, because they hear themselves echo.
Has anyone ever encountered this problem, and if so how would I go about fixing it?
    Thanks for any info =)

I have the same issue with my 8800 Edge and can't figure it out.  Did you have any luck?

  • Bought 2nd Hand Blackberry 8700

    Hi
This phone was working fine on a prepaid sim, now the phone has locked have contacted provider and retrieved my PUK code, phone is now asking me for the PIN for my phone but I dont know it, the person I bought it from imported from overseas and set it up for use in NZ new, has given me the manual via link for the phone, but thus fat have found nothing about resetting the phone so I can get back in, never used Blackberry before either, so help in lamens language would be appreciated, THANKS

It's registered to the original owner. There is nothing you can do about it. Registering, or not registering it in your support profile doesn't really matter since it's undoubtedly out of warranty anyway.
