Blackberry 8707g. Cannot update. BBM-Groups won't work

Hi friends,
One of my friends is facing a problem with her blackberry device. She recently bought the 8707g, with an Airtel connection (INDIA). Now her messenger is working fine, but she cannot use the blackberry groups. It says, you need to upgrade your blackberry messenger.
When i went online to update the messenger, it said, you need to update your Blackberry OS.
So i followed to steps to update the messenger.
some downloading, some add on into my firefox, etc etc.... Next when i click to check if any updates are available for my 8707g, it says : NO UPDATES AVAILABLE FOR YOUR PHONE.
My current OS is : 4.2.102 something something .
Please help me how to update my Blackberry OS via USB cable....
I installed the Desktop manager, but it crashed my friend's PC... (low system hardware)... so her pc isn't working anymore... thou i shall try to get it fixed later....
I am using my PC now. And i don't want to risk using the Desktio manager. So is ther any other way to update it? Hell... can i use Blackberry Groups ony this 8707 Phone?

From a PC, you can install any OS package to a BB via this procedure:

Note that while written for "reload", it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. You can even use a different carriers OS package by simply inserting, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion, on your PC, of a file named VENDOR.XML. Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

Cannot change BBM group details/setting, on BES

Hi All,
I'm newbie forgive if I wrongly put this question in this thread..
After updating to latest asia firmware (666), suddenly I cannot change BBM group detail on my torch (9800). Therefore, now I always get unwanted notification/update from new group that I recently join.
I am on BES, using a provider in Indonesia.
Any solution for this? I just want to turn off group notification..

Did the iTunes update & now it won't work at all!

I downloaded the iTunes update 2 days ago, and now iTunes won't work because it needs 10.4.9+ & all I have is 10.4.8
I tried to download the 'Combo' 10.4.11 but it crashed my system (the 'Restart' hung with turning wheel for over 2 hours) & I had to reboot from disk at the cost of several hours.
I only use iTunes for listening to the radio worldwide, nothing else. I have no iPod, have no purchased music.
Is there any way to uninstall the update? iTunes was just fine for me before the update.
Or, is there any way to install the 10.4.11 from a friend's disks? - since it's just an 'Update' which is available online, it doesn't sound like it would be illegal, but I want to keep "Kosher". I am assuming that even though the downloaded update crashed my system, loading from disk should work.
Any help would be appreciated - I am not very computer literate, so the simpler the better!

Finally solved the problem by going back to an older version of iTunes, which I found on FileHippo.com - I chose version 7.0 since I had no idea what older version I used to have.
The uninstall was the hard part, but these instructions did the trick:

Even then, when I got the "iTunesSetup.exe", clicking on it got the message:"iTunes library cannot be read because it was created by a later version of iTunes". Apparently some fragment of the "update was hiding somewhere.
I finally solved this by right-clicking (option+click) on it.
So now I have iTunes back & have no need for the "Combo Update"
At this point, having had a week of frustration from that worse-than-useless "Update", I have no intention of messing with any more "Updates". This computer is, and will remain a 10.4.8 machine.

Bbm invite won't work

I have a torch and bbm, whatsapp, twitter etc won't work at all, its never done this before! It ran out so I topped up and opt back in, it took the credit, this was monday night, I rang vodafone and they said it was on blackberry's end and would take 24 hours, now its been nearly 48 its out of order this, its cost me a fortune phoning round to try and fix it!! I've took the battery out and changed the network and gone back on to mine, please can someone help

My Ipod updated and now won't work

Pior to this, it was working fine. I connected my Ipod and as usual Itunes sync'd and advised that there was a software update. I updated the software and it installed and now my Ipod won't work. It had a darkened screen with the battery showing, the date on top has changed by skip forward a day, the spoked wheel showing processing is displayed but isn't moving. It seems to be frozen and not responsive to any touch. I tried to reset it as per the website by holding the on/home button for 10secs and it kepted getting locked onto the apple logo and nothing else. I restored it and it took ages and appeared with the same screen and then it seemed to come good. Except all my music and photos are gone and its now frozen on the music screen with no options, just a white screen. It chimes like its on the charger and displays the charging icon on the top, even when its not plugged in. It won't reset again either (home/on) it's just staying on that screen.
I only just got it in Sept 10 so its only four months old and this only started happening after the update to 4.2.1. What's going on?

Then restore "as new ipod" without using the last backup to restore your data and settings from, it may contain corrupt data.

BBM chat won't work

Hi all,
Since I upgraded my BBM, when I try to send a BBM message, I get the unfriendly red x. I have gone through most of the post on this wall yet nothing. My edge is Capitalised (EDGE) all other applications work just fine, whatsapp, email, Appworld but BBM. I have even deleted and reinstalled it still nothing. Plllllllllllllllllllllllllleaeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease some one help me out, can't take it anymore (I have a torch 9800 v6.0)

Blackberry PassPort cannot update OS 10.3.1.2267 OTA

My BB PassPort was updated OS 10.3.1.2243 from Feburary 19 and after that the OS 10.3.1.2267 was released. But although I was checking this version OS many many times ( on device, on browser, BB link), it didn't detected the newest OS. Today is feburary 28 and i'm still checking but it does not seem detect anything. Please help me solve this prolem. I can't use OS 2243 while everybody use 2267.

I'm not sure all updates are pushed to all devices. I think the reason is that the actual "build" number varies by carrier, and possibly model. For example I have build 10.3.1.1581, but many people, such as yourself have other numbers. I don't think they really matter materially, and may represent exactly the same software and are more a designation of source or carrier.

HELP!! Email, facebook, BBM, etc won't work EVEN ON WIFI! I HAVE a perfect 3G connection!

Hello, My internet wont work. On BBM I get a red cross, facebook nor blackberry appworld wont connect, I don't get emails nothing. I have a perfect 3G connection, with the symbol next to it. I can't browse either. When I turn on wifi, its still the same!! The only thing is that I can browse when wifi is connected. Nothing else. I called my service provider, they refreshed everything. Nothing happened. I also activated everything again (host routing table) you know the usual stuff. Nothing works. What could be the problem? It was working fine! Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
Unfortunately, I cannot tell from your posts (e.g., "the usual stuff") if you have done these exact steps. Therefore, I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you will need to continue to escalate wit your mobile service provider for formal support. You see, you PAY them for 100% of your service and 100% of your formal support...right now, it would seem that they are delivering neither to you, and you should not let them fob you off...you should insist that they comply with the terms of your contract, which means that they should stay with you until the issue is resolved, and formally escalate into RIM if they cannot solve it. For, you see, only via escalation from a carrier can your case receive any formal support from RIM.

Bbm messenger. won't work after upgrade!

I upgraded. My bbm from 6.0. To 7.0s and after it upgraded, it won't alloW me to use. My bbm, it keep on tellin me to put my blkberry I'd, and although I'm putiing in the correct pin, it keep on telling mE am not and thn it blocks me. From Tryning too many time for 15 mins. My fones is a blkberry curve 9790 user orange, some1 please help

Update 10.6 won´t work

Hi everybody,
I encountered following problem.
I tried to update ITunes to the newest version 10.6 on my MS Win7 (32Bit) System.
The file was downloaded and installed to certain point and stopped.
I treid this several times, with the same errormessage." It couldnt update, because an error encountered.... Your system remain´s as it was ..."
(All error messages are translated from german, and aren´t quite the same as I write here)
Now I tried to synchronise with Itunes 10.5.? my IPAD. But there was no device in Itunes.
OK, I looked to the support page from apple and They said to deinstall all apple sw and reinstall Itunes with the newest version, what I did.
I deinstalled all sw and tried to install itunes.
It worked perfect, until the installation tried to start the "tasks". It appeared an message "you don´t have enough rights to install Apple mobile device support"
(I´m signed in as administrator!)
I ignored this message. Now I have ITunes 10.6 installed but I still cannot synchronise my IPAD with my computer.
Does anybody knows went wrong ???

iTunes 10.7 does indeed work on OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. Do you mean you have Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard? If so, and you updated your iPhone 4S to iOS 6 on some other computer, then you may be out of luck synching to your 10.5.8 system, but you can get and try 10.6.3 here:

New Update - Language Pack won't work

After updating iTunes to the newest version, my language pack won't do: When I try using the Dutch language pack, it uses the English one (however, in Preferences he still days i'm using the Dutch one).
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Or should I wait until the next update?

Open your Uninstall a program Control panel. Select iTunes and then click the "Repair" link up at the top of the screen.
Alternatively, download a fresh copy of the iTunes 10.1.1.4 installer from the Apple website:

Doubleclick the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe). because you already have 10.1.1.4 installed, you'll be offered two options (either repair or remove, in English). Choose the repair option.

Apps won't update - now they won't work at all

I recently attempted to update a few of my apps that we're coming up as update available from my app store on my ipad2.
When I clicked update all and enters my password it jumped to my home screen where I was then just left and none of the apps updated.
Even when I click one to try and re-engage a new download of the update it doesn't do anything. I can't even use the apps now that just seem to be stuck.
Any help most appreciated.

Since I got the iOS 7 update my safari won't work on my iPad 2

My iPad was completely fine until I got the iOS 7 update and now my safari will only let me go on the suggested sites eg Apple Disney espn and yahoo. I don't know what's wrong it's not my internet or the iPad

Tried to update ipod Touch 4th Generation, Update Failed, iPod won't work

So less than twenty minutes ago I tried to update my iPod touch, knowing it had been asking this for a few days. The update failed, as as of now my iPod Touch is stuck on the picture of the iPod cable with an arrow pointing at the iTunes symbol. I've tried holding the two buttons to force it to shut off, it does- when I turn it on I get the apple logo so I know it turned on, only to get it again. When plugged into my computer, it is not recognized by anything. Going to Computer it doesn't see it as plugged in, and on iTunes nothing comes up with connected objects. This happened to me once in the past and I had to go to the Apple Store to have it fixed... can anyone tell me what to do so I don't have to go to them, or am I gonna have to take some time and drive over to have them take a look at it? Also, when removing my iPod from the computer, i get the sound that you get when you remove something from your computer, meaning it knows it's plugged in, just not reading it for some reason.

iPod Touch 4G 32GB. I had same problem when I tried updating iOS; iTunes says restoring iPod, but after a while gives error 1603. I tried all suggestions from support: recovery mode, other USB ports, disconnect all other devices, uninstall and reinstall apple s/w and drivers, disable all other services using msconfig, confirm USB are 2.0, re-download updated software, reboot computer, name it! I finally installed iTunes on old Dell Inspiron P4 running XP, plugged iPod in it and device got recovered immediately! Put it back in Win7 computer and performed backup restore. Everything is back as it was. I have no idea what prevents s/w update on main computer. I realized I never get "waiting for iPod" message during attempt to restore, while I do on old Dell. I wonder what triggers this message.
