Blackberry 9300 3G wont get past startup bar..

Well this is the first problem I have run into with the Blackberry 9300 3G.  Noticed I didnt have a signal so I took out the battery and waited 30 seconds and reinserted the Battery.  Problem is the white progress bar fills up to then end bar then stops there.  Of course phone will not work when that happens.  I taken out and reinstalled the battery numerous times with the same result.   Any ideas on this one..

  • My macbook pro wont get past the grey screen at startup. Help!!

After doing a run of the mill software update on my macbook pro (running snow leopard) it froze during the "moving items into place" stage. I forced a shut down and now it wont get past the grey screen with apple logo and spinning wheel. I have tried booting from the original DVD but it still freezes. When I boot it in verbose mode it seems to stop at "jnl: unknown-dev: update_fs_block: error reading fs block # 3597880! (ret 5)", the Apple AHCD Disk Queue manager :: set power state is timing out and there is a disk I/O error. I have tried to reset the power manager (not sure if it worked or not) and I have also tried clearing the PRAM (again, not sure of that worked). When I try to look at the hard drive using target mode on my imac the hard drive doesn't come up but the DVD does. I'm concerned that my hard drive is fried. Any suggestions?

It would help to state in your post which remedies you tried that didn't work.
Start here >  OS X Lion: If you see a gray screen at startup
If nothing there helped, try Starting up in Safe Mode
Safe Mode deletes some system caches that may help.
A Safe Mode boot takes longer than a normal boot so be patient. Once you are in Safe Mode, click Restart from the Apple menu.
If a Safe Mode boot didn't work, since your Mac has OS X v10.7 installed, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys so you can access OS X Recovery built in utilities. The startup disk may need repairing.
Tip:  Hold down the Eject key while starting up your Mac to eject a disc.

  • My macbook wont get past the gray startup page !!

my macbook air wont get past the gray startup page!!
i read about it and i think its because of the HD low space !
so what should i do ?
i tryed to repaire it and it didnt work !!

With an external drive, after it has been setup, partitioned, etc., go to System Preferences and Time Machine, or if TM is showing on your dock, just click on it, and turn time machine on...you can then give it the name of the partition on the external drive where you want to backup.  TM will do that in the background and you don't have to think about it.
I have the Mercury Elite Pro drive from OWC, 2 TB, that I partitioned into a backup partition and working partition...so TM backs up regularly and I can use the other partition for either another bootable Mac OS X space or just point applications to that space for file storage.
You can clone the operating system using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper which are both free downloads.  They make a bootable copy of the operating system for you.

my ipod touch 4g 8 gigs is not turning on it wont get past the apple logo its not frozen because it turns the screen black and the apple logo please help me

    - Try a reset.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then connect to your computer and try to restore.
    - See if placing the iPod in recovery mode will allow a restore. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    - If the logo still show all the time, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour try the above again.

  • IMac won't get past startup screen, no matter what. Pls help?

I just inherited a mid-2010 iMac from a friend. It hadn't been used for months, and now when it is started up, it won't get past startup screen. It shows the 'slot' looking image on the bottom of the white loadup screen, then it's just the apple symbol and the whirly thing going around forever. I've had it going for over half an hour at one point, and nothing changes. I have tried all the different reboot key combos, such as C with a startup disk in it, D for hardware test, command S for safe mode, etc. The only thing which makes any difference at all is using the T key at startup, when I do get the three-pronged white symbol floating around screen.
It is a 21 inch with 500gig, and I believe it's running Snow Leopard. They never had a problem with it before, but now after the months of disuse, it is doing this. Please, can anyone help? Thanks!

I'm not sure if a dead PRAM battery would give you these symptoms, but one possibility is that if the computer was off wall power for months, the PRAM battery, a small coin cell battery that controls certain functions, may be drained and  dead.
But, in any case, try an SMC Reset. You must follow the timing for this exactly.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
    And then a PRAM Reset.
Hold down Option-Cmd-P-R together at the startup chime, listen for two more chimes, total three, then release all the keys to finish booting.
You might also try a Safe Boot by holding down Shift at the startup chime. (Cmd-S isn't for Safe Boot, it's single user mode.) Give it much longer to boot than usual, but if it doesn't finish in perhaps 5 or 10 minutes, then you'll have to give up on that.

hey guys. my macbook air wont get past the screen with the apple on it during start up. how do i fix this? i have a paper saved on my laptop on need to get at it. thanks guy!

Your boot drive is damaged in some way. If you have an original installation disc, you can boot from that and run Disk Utility. From DU you can select your internal hard drive ("Macintosh HD" is the name Apple puts on it - you may have renamed yours) and select "Verify Disk". If errors come up, try "Repair Disk". If it repairs, then you should be able to restart and boot from it. If it doesn't show up or won't repair, your drive is probably hosed.

  • Wont get past "Checking For Updates " for initial startup.

Hey. So I just bought a Blackberry Playbook and I can not get past the "Checking For Updates" screen on the initial startup. It checks for updates and then says
    "Retry Activation
    Blackberry Tablet OS
    Version 1.0.2.2078
Your tablet could not be activated because of error (1001)
Tap Retry or Turn Off to try again later"
I have dine both of those and neither work. I am really excited I bought this because I used to have a Blackberry Pearl. I want to use this tablet but the more I struggle the more I want to throw it out the window. Please help!!

Try starting in "Safe Mode" (hold shift at startup)
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393
If your computer starts up, repair permissions, verify disk (both in Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility)
If you are able to get to apple.com, download the "Combo" update and avoid the "Software Update..." (use that to see what is needed and get them from the apple.com site) re-apply the update and restart.
I'd start there. Post any results.
    Good Luck

  • Macbook won't get past startup screen?

I dropped my macbook, approximately from a 3/4 meter height. It beeped 1-5 times (i think)? Then froze. I Turned it off, then switched it back on, and it went through the usual startup phase, except it wont go past the loading screen and won't boot up in single user mode, help me please?

You may have damaged the disk when you dropped it.  Here are some steps to diagnose that and possibly repair the filesystem.  (It may be some other problem but this is a good place to start.)
    Reset SMC:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Boot in OS X Recovery Mode overview.
        http://www.apple.com/osx/recovery/
If it boots in standard recovery mode then
at least part of your internal disk is working.
If it boots in network recovery mode then your internal disk may be damaged
but the rest of you Mac may be healthy.
While in Recovery Mode check the S.M.A.R.T. disk status, try to repair the system disk (Macintosh HD).
If that does not fix the problem then reïnstall OS X.

  • HPE-552SC and ASUS GTX750TI - wont get past BIOS

Hi. My graphiccard delivered with the HPE-552SC has failed and I bought a new ASUS GForce GTX 750TI. After installing it the computer wont go past BIOS. Looking at some posts in support forums, some solutions could be to turn off UEFI - how ever when I press "ESC" on BIOS startup I cant run the application "Run UEFI Application" - see picture below.  BIOS is updated to 7.15. What to do? Best regards,Andree

andrewmorgan98,The OP had a GTX460 160W  (that is what comes in that model unit). The GTX460 is superior to a GTX750ti card in all performance marks.  That is why the GTX660 140W  - 660Ti  150  was suggested. Those two cards have better performance marks that the OP's original GTX 460, and are within the wattage of the original PSU.  Why would the OP want to step down in performance?BTW, the GTX460 required two 6pin PCIE, so the OP has the required Watts and required PCIE plugs. The 660 needs 1, the 660Ti needs 2.

  • Can't get past startup

I experienced a hard crash after installing some new internet software (Hermstedt DSL) and now I can't get past the startup screen. I tried a safe startup, repaired disk permissions via Disk Utility and did a Diskwarrior session to sort the directory if that was affected (it wasn't), but the problem persists. I also did a hardware test which stated nothing wrong.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I could do next? Any help hugely appreciated.

Answering my own question just in case it helps anyone:
I started up in 'safe' mode and deleted everything to do with the software. Everything starts up fine.

  • Won't get past startup screen

I have a MBP with a busted Optical drive (it never worked) and warrenty is void.
I have never reinstalled my system but now would be a good time becuase
My computer when starting up now cannot get past the first Grey Apple logo
and shows the wheel (not rainbow other one) spinning for hours on end.
    What should I do?
I think i'm going to try to rescue my files by connecting through firewire
from another computer I got it into firewire mode.
But I dunno what I should do to actually FIX the computer?
    Any ideas?

I'll let u know now that my next intent is to give it to a tech to see if he can dl the data from the disk and if not to just replace he optical drive and then try to startup from the system install disk then if not that then use unix prompt to connect to disk and dl files . I'm sure it possible to do these things. The probl is with bad blocks of data on the disk that has curropted essential information that is used in the startup and running of os x. If I were u I would reconnect the cd drive and try booting from ur system disks.=)

  • Graphite iMac Won't Get Past Startup

I recently inherited a Graphite 600mhz iMac with 1gig of RAM and a 40gb HDD from my Television productions class. I used an iPod ripping program called iPod Access to load about 10gigs of music to the computer. I also installed a few programs like VLC and WMP. The computer was running a little slow after these installs and transfers, so I figured I'd restart. I did, and the computer made it to the gray Mac loading screen, where the little wheel revolved and revolved. As of now, the computer will not get past this point after many attempts. Is the HD shot? No hardware has been changed. Could it have something to do with my iPod?

Can you start from a Bootable CD? Hopefully, you inherited the 10.3 disks, or a copy of a 9.2.1 disk along with the iMac.
I'm guessing that the disk is full and the Mac has lost track of some important startup file. OSX writes a lot of files to the disk in the course of operation that are invisible but take up space. If you don't do regular house cleaning you loose a whole lot of space over time.
Some music import proceedures make two copies of each file, and that adds to the problem.
I'm guessing. At any rate, you are going to need a bootable CD to trouble shoot this situation.
