BLACKBERRY 9780

On Friday ( 6th May 2011 ) I upgraded to a BlackBerry 9780.
On the 11th May 2011 I handed the phone to J Vodacom Westgate as it was freezing and will not make or accept calls. Phone shows full signal and network name.
They sent it to Cresta to be repaired.
On 17 May Vodacom Westgate replaced the phone with a new one.
On 19th May I showed Vodacom Westgate that the new phone had the same problem as the old one. We turned the phone off and it made and accepted calls.
On 22nd May I had to reboot the phone again to be able to use it.
On 23rd May I spoke to Vodacom Westgate and TheY said I must bring the phone and they will send it away
This morning 24th May I handed the phone in to be repaired and it was again sent away for six working day?s.
Now somebody has a  theory and that  the problem is with my sim card ( a card that works in my HTC, my previous Nokia and Ericsson all smart phones).
Nobody at Vodacom can give me the contact numbers of Blackberry South Africa so that I may tell them I think they are dumping obsolete phones on us.
And to think that  Blackberry users think it is the best thing since jelly was invented, wait until they get hold of the BlackBerry 9780 and find out it is the closest thing to hell.
Bet you that BlackBerry 9780 is a dud but you are keeping it under wraps because you are afraid of losing customers

Bet you that you're wrong. It's actually the best thing since sliced bread. Jelly is so passé.
When you registered for this Forum, and when you agreed to the EULA, you would have noticed the specific notices that this is a user-to-user community support forum. We're not RIM/BlackBerry employees. We're users like you (well, not exactly like you) who like helping others get the most out of the BlackBerry, because 90% of the problems are often user issues that can be fixed with a click or two on some option.
So, your SIM that works in your Nokia, HTC and Ericsson... you should get brand NEW SIM card from Mr. J Vodacom Westgate, or they should simply swap it for you. The 9780 is quite a bit more advanced than the devices you named, and the SIM card as well should be the newest they have. Even though many SIM cards do look alike, there is distinct technical differences in even any SIMs that are noted as 3G SIMs, because as technology advanced, so do the SIMs.
I would get the device back from whoever you gave it to, or demand a new unit. There is absolutely NO reason to send off a brand new device less than a month old, for repair. Most likely, it needs a new SIM, and/or upgrading the operating system to latest official release.
Since you purchased the device from Vodacom, your contract for techical and warranty support is with Vodacom, who then WILL escalate major issues to RIM level tech support. If they don't you should ask. There's not a phone number to call, they will handle the transfer and escalation.
If you need help with any software upgrades, please ask, we'll help. Just to come here to complain won't get you anything but to get it off your chest. If that's all you wanted, done.

  • HOW TO: Install East Asian Language Pack on Blackberry 9780

    Hello!
    I bought a new Blackberry and want to install Korean, Chinese and Japanese on it A.K.A the East Asian Language Pack. I previously had a Blackberry 8520 and installed the language pack successfully by following this tutorial. I thought that it would work if I tried it with my new phone but it doesn't.
    I tried using .JAR files by transferring directly on my phone and installing it from there, but no results. I also tried using .COD and .ALX files but there were no results! I'm confused because the other languages such as English and French appear if I use Desktop Manager or Desktop Software but it doesn't show ANY East Asian languages at all.
    Can anyone please help me resolve this problem?

    Sorry for the delay in replying.
    T-Mobile UK does not have east asian language pack for the BlackBerry Bold 9780.  This is carrier specific though, some other network service providers may have the language pack but the BlackBerry will have to branded for the other provider.

  • Blackberry 9780 Resetting

    Hi,
    My 9780 roughly every few weeks seems to 'reset' itself.....basically the screen goes Black, a white line at the bottom of the screen gradually increases & then it starts working again.
    All my contacts, messages etc are still fine BUT my Ringtone/message setting have changed.......fine if i notice the phone doing this so i can change it back but i have missed calls etc if i have not!!!!!
    Any ideas most welcome,

  • Wifi Not Working on my blackberry 9780

    Even though my phone is connected to my home network wifi,whenever i try to open a webpage a message occurs "Unable to connect to the internet please try again later". My wifi is working perfectly well on my other devices and when i use my mobile data,the internet works fine. This problem only occurs when i try to use internet through wifi on my blackberry.     With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRTKB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless networkPlease wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app2) Resend Service BooksKB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet ServicePlease wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.3) RebootWith power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then please try other WiFi networks, just to conduct a complete test. If those work, then there is something about your local WiFi that is not properly configured to your BB device. If none work, then the logical thing for you to do will be an OS reload. But let's wait for the results of your tests before we go there.

  • Blackberry 9780 and Exchange 2013

    Hi all,
    In my environment, I have Exchange 2013 server hosting email for my domain.com, I have configured spf record for this domain, users can set up email on smart phone nornally.
    One of my users uses BB 9780, after set up email on phone, when he sent out messages he received some error about "Sender ID". Recipient mail server reject his messages because it come from a server that is not list in my spf record.
    As I know, BB phone will forward message to another SMTP server ? How can I fix this ?

    I cannot tell what "blackbeery site" you are looking at. Also I can't tell you where you got your version from, nor if it updated itself since you downloaded it. Plus, there are actually three different versions to potentially look at...Desktop Software, LINK, and BLEND. Sadly, BB chose "Desktop Software" for the bundle of LINK plus BLEND. So it can be tricky to know which is which.
    Suffice to say that whatever is available to download from the official BB download site should be the latest, but it might be a bundle version rather than a specific LINK version.

    I recently bought a Playbook..
    Before buying it I heard that you can connect it to your Smartphone and I amazed, actually its the reason why I bought it 
    After watching the video the explains the way of connecting the two devices I noticed that I must download blackberry bridge from app world to connect them. Unfortunately, app world doesn't work in my country and I can't connect my Playbook with my Smartphone
    please I need help, I already paid 600$+ and it doesn't worth that without the Blackberry bridge

  • Desktop manager software for blackberry 9780 crashes

    Hello,
    I have a laptop lenove T420 with windows 7 ulitmate. and we do use lotus notes 7. We synch lotus notes calendar via usb cable. it was working fine when we are in xp but since we use windows 7 it stops working, it crashes.
    2 things i have to say :
    1. After installing manager, it doesnt communicates with lotus notes domino server, even after entering right password for lotus account. it says, the blackberry server is not available or server information is incorrect.
    2. i say cancel the below information, and i enter into desktop manager software by connectecing my blackberry via cable. and i start synchronizing , it synch at some point the software crashes by says desktop manager stops workings. and i need to restart the software. but it doesnt synch the calendar entries and contacts.
    I also reinstalled the software, i repaired, nothing fixes my issue.
    Any ideas how to fix the issue ? Thanks in advance

  • How can i transfer contacts from a blackberry to iPhone 4s?

    I just got an iPhone 4s. And I need to transfer all contacts and data (notes, calendars, etc) to my new phone from blackberry 9780. How can I do that?

    Transfer them from the blackberry to your computer, using whatever program is best for that, into your addressbook or contacts app on your compuer (Outlook, for example).
    Then use iTunes to sync them from Outlook to your iPhone.

  • BlackBerry PlayBook and Internet Explorer?

    I am a small business owner and Mac user. My business, however, uses a website that works only with Internet Explorer. In the past I have needed to have a small notebook PC in order to access the site and it is time to get a new computer. 
    I really would like to check out the new BlackBerry PlayBook and will definitely buy one tomorrow (or Tuesday?)  IF it is possible to use IE on it! I really don't want to spend the money for a PC which would be used only for one purpose (I use my iMac for all other computer needs and my BlackBerry 9780 Bold for a phone. Microsoft stopped supporting Macs after version 5 or 6 of IE so that is the ONLY reason I have a PC.)
    Oh please please PLEASE tell me that IE will be compatible with the new tablet!?
    Anybody know? If not, might as well get an iPad -AND a new notebook PC -AND a new iMac, right?

    either the website uses ActiveX scripts, and in that case you are out of luck

    Sadly, from "like", we can't really understand the error message you are receiving...exact and complete content of any errors presented are always better to help us understand rather than vague hints and such.
    In any event, I recommend this.     You can add a new language to your BlackBerry® device if the BlackBerry® Device Software supports multiple languages.
    Connect the device to your computer.
    In BlackBerry ® Desktop Software, click Applications.
    In the Support section and input language, click the language you want to add the device.
    Click Apply.

  • Desktop manager 6 USB connection problems with BB bold 9780

    Hello,
    I am running Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit on a DELL XPS 8100 PC.
    The latest version of the desktopmanager 6 is 6.2010 (Bundle 21).
    The desktop manager is not able to connect to my BB 9780 bold via USB.
    It short of partially connects to the device. It is able to display its model, PIN and device software version. However when I go to the organize tab and I press the "Configure settings button" an error message is displayed telling me that the device is not connected.
    In the control panel there is a device "BlackBerry 9780".
    I have tried various things so far without success
    1) Uninstalled/ installed desktopmanager software
    2) Tried different USB ports
    3) Tried to connect via HUB
    4) Reset my 9780 device by removing the battery
    When I connect my 9780, the device pops up a menu with 3 choices:
    1) mount as USB device"
    2) synchronize media"
    3) charge only"
    I tried 1 and 2, no luck.
    I just had the BB 9780 for one day. Without a working synchronize option
    I can not use it.
    Is there anyone who can give some advice ?

    I finally solved the problem. The USB mass storage device failed to install because of a conflict.
    The conflict was caused by the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja. After removing NTI Shadow &Ninja and reinstalling the BB desktop software, all the USB drivers installed correctly.
    The bold is now recognized by the BB desktop manager. It also shows up as a drive in the explorer.

    i have blackberry 9780 work on the latest OS, Blackberry bridge 1.0.0.83, BBM 6, and i still cannot use my BBM on my playbook. i already try to delete the bridge on my BB 9780 and reinstall it again and again, i still can't do the bbm right. it always shows blank screen when i tried to load it on my playbook.
    well i tried to use my friend Blackberry the same 9780 OS and BBM, well it works well....
    i also tried Blackberry 9700 with OS 6 and BBM 6 it also do the white screen on my playbook
    does this mean that playbook only work on certain blackberry only?

    You have the latest software versions.
    Try deleting the bluetooth connection between the 
    2 devices, and reboot both devices.
    Try repairing the devices, this worked for me.  
    Are you doing this as a BES, u may have an IT policy in place
    that needs to be removed.
