  • Help! I can not find my BBM Contacts from my Blackberry Backup.

Hello guys, thanks for checking, i need help.
Basically i have 4 Backups that i made from 3 different blackberries that i have and since i am getting a new blackberry this week i thought i need to extract my backup .ipd files so i can type the blackberry pins that i want instead of restoring the whole stuff to my new phone. I used
    - Blackberry Backup Extractor
    - Elcomsoft blackberry explorer
I can not seem to find the BBM contacts i had, i remeber having around 200 people, all i can find is 5 open conversations and of course the other message, phone book etc backup. The Backup is perfect and not corrupt.
Where am i suppose to find the BBM contacts? am i missing something here?
Thanks guys, if you need any help beside this, let me know, i might help

Unfortunatly their are some individuals with the know how and equipment to access network blocked imei handsets.
Mind if they are caught a 5 year prison term awaits them.
Mobiles have and always be an easy target for theives. People have lost their lifes for refusing to hand them over.
I was in a market traders shop a while ago and two young lads came in with a handset to ask for it to be opened up to all networks. They could not even answer the question on what network it was originally on. The shop worker shrugged her shoulders and went ahead and opened it up as requested , all for £5 !! I left shaking my head ?
Follow the advice and contact your network to block the sim and fone, and also inform the police in order to get a crime number in order to start claims on any insurance you may have.

  • How can i view my blackberry messenger contactson a text file from a previous blackberry backup.

Hi guys, i recently discovered that i lost the bbm pin of some of my contacts. Thankfully, i back up my blackberry regularly via black berry protect and blackberry DM and tried using blackberry backup extractor to extract a previous backup to see if i could view my bbm contacts in excel and retrieve the contacts.
Unfortunately, i wasn't able to view them, as it just displayed very few contacts on ms excel and some gibberish on notepad. I would like to know if there is a way to view my complete bbm contacts stored on my blackberry backup on a text file format or in excel.
The other option available to me is to keep restoring my blackberry to previous backups with the hope of retrieving them and this i feel would be very rigorous and could lead me to loosing some newer contacts.
Any help or info on how to go about this is deeply appreciated.
    Thanks

Just a lil extra info; i use blackberry bold 9700.

  • Blackberry Backup Data

Is there a way, or is there 3rd party software available to transfer Blackberry backup info to my new Pre Plus?
Post relates to: Pre Plus p100una (AT&T)

    Hello!
Unfortunately RIM keeps that dataset propiratary but if you can get with RIM to sync that data to Outlook then our WebOS data transfer tool can migrate that outlook data to you WebOS device.

  • BlackBerry backup file & third-party app data

    Q:
    1. Does the Desktop Software really back all data up during creation the backup file ?
    2. Are there the specific third-party application data – Opera Mini Bookmarks – saved to the IPD backup file ?
    3. Is there any possibility to retrieve my Opera Mini Bookmarks from BlackBerry.ipd backup file ?
I did new backup file before upgrading BlackBerry OS. The OS upgrade process restored all applications previously installed but all my Opera bookmarks disappeared.
I tried to recover the applications data from the backup file via BB Desktop Software (Restore > Select device data and settings > RMS Databases) but I couldn’t retrieve my OM bookmarks.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    BB Curve 8520 / BB OS v.5.0.0.1113 / BB DS v.6.0.1.18 / Opera Mini v.7.1.3355

    Sdgardne,
first of all, thank you for your valuable and kind reply.
As I’m not advanced user of the BB-device, I had tried several times to solve the problem (retrieving the particular, 3rd-party app data - OM Bookmarks) and finally found solution to the issue:
    1. Downgrade the Opera Mini v. 7.1 to the Opera Mini 7.0 version
    2. Restore the app data: RMS Databases from .ipd (or .bbb) backup file
    (for Desktop Software v.6.0.1.18):
Device > Restore > Select backup file (.ipd) / Select Data to restore > Select Device Data and Settings [option] > choose from the list: RMS Databases > OK
P.S., there is something wrong with Opera Mini 7.1, it can not initiate to restore its own data from RMS Databases.

  • Blackberry/Backup Assistant

My blackberry 8330 just died on me, but I received a replacement blackberry through insurance in the mail. When I received my replacement phone they turned off my original one. My original phone didn't have "backup assistant" on it and now because it is turned off, I can no longer download blackberry apps (like backup assistant) on it. Am I totally out of luck when it comes to putting my contacts/pictures/etc on my new phone? Any ideas???
    Any help/thoughts/etc is greatly appreciated!!

Depends on how 'dead' your BB is. What exactly do you mean 'died'? If it is 'alive' enough to reactivate, you can do that online at My Verizon. It takes just a few minutes. You could then use Backup Assistant to back up your contacts. Re-activate your new BB and download contacts. Backup Assistant is a free service. Alternately, you could take both BBs to a Verizon store and they'll do it for you. Good Luck!

  • Backup problem with Desktop Manager 6.1.0.35

I've got a great problem here. DM is set to backup my BB on connection. Backup is hanging at "Backing up RMS databases 11 of 13 records". The only way to get out of it is to shutdown DM on My PC and reboot my BB.
I can't get in to device options on DM to stop auto backup because it tries to backup every time i connect. I'm stuck in a very nasty circle.
Have tried repairing my installation of Desktop Manager 6.1.0.35 through Control Panel bu that made no difference.
Would be very appreciative of any ideas.

Since I can't duplicate this problem on my PC what about running the DM on your PC and not connecting your Storm.
When the DM is open go to 'Tools' and select 'Desktop Options' and make sure none of the boxes are selected and then try "Restore Default Settings" which should select these locations:
    My Documents\BlackBerry\Backup
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Desktop
Now plug in your Storm. Is it still trying to make a backup? If 'yes', hopefully  ViciousFerret (BlackBerry Technical Advisor) will notice my improper response and will advice you better. Just trying to help and get his attention....
Another way to get attention and a (quick?) answer is to tweet to the Twitter account @BlackBerryHelp. Haven tried it but red about it.

  • How to view backup data on PC

I have been backing up address book from my BB  via desktop manager to a file on my PC,  How can I view the files (old address book)on my PC, is it possible? It seems as if i would have to transfer it back to the BB, which would delete the current one. There are old phone numbers that I saved that I need to access. All I get on outlook express is the current list.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Jeff

The ABC Blackberry Amber converter found at http://www.processtext.com/abcblackberry.html absolutely works.  It allows you to view any of your blackberry backups on your PC.  Good to find stuff that actually does what it is suppose to do without a lot of trash or casting about.

  • Help! Missing backup files

    Hi,
I back-up my blackberry through desktop manager about once every two weeks. Yesterday, my phone crashed and gave me an error message, forcing me to update my software and wiping the phone in the process. It did this once before as well. When I went to go restore my blackberry after the update, the last backup file I could find was from May.
I backed it up two days ago. I've backed it up a ton of times since last May. This doesn't make any sense. I've lost all my contacts, all my messages, everything that I gained in the last six months.
Does anyone know where the files could be, or why Desktop Manager might have messed up like this and not actually been making backups when it said it was? I restored with the May backup and tried backing it up, and of course now it works and the file is in the Blackberry Backups folder. I've searched for .bbb files on my computer and found nothing beyond what's in the folder.
There's no reason for me to have lost all this data, I back it up often specifically so this never happens, so where did all of those files go? Is there any way for me to get it all back?
    Thank you!!

Do a search also for any *.ipd files.

  • Backup/Restore - .ipd file recognition

    Hey there.
A little over a week ago, my Blackberry Tour (Not sure of model number, was bought in early June 2010) stopped working. The phone itself functioned but the screen had been damaged so I had to send it in for a replacement. Today I got my replacement, which is the Bold 9650.
Before sending my Tour in, I installed the desktop software on my new laptop and did a backup. Now, with my new phone, I opened the desktop software and found it unable to detect my backup file.
At first I couldn't find it either on my computer. It was not in the backups folder, which evidently hadn't been created by my initial backup, but rather in My Documents. When I went to choose a location for the backup, I didn't see the file on the menu. I moved the file into the new Blackberry/Backup folder, but it didn't help.
I would really like to get my contacts, pics, etc. on my new phone but I am unable to! Any ideas what could be the cause or what a solution may be! Help would be much appreciated.

    Hey alect93,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
When you try to open the backup file in BlackBerry Desktop Software, does it bring up a certain error?  Also what was the previous version of BlackBerry Desktop Software if you can recall?
What version of Windows are you using as well?
I look forward to your response.

  • Blackberry Desktop software 6 - Deleting previously connected devices

In blackberry desktop software 6, when you click on the device menu, it lists all prevously connected devices.
Yesterday someone connected their device to my computer.
How can i delete that device listing from the list.

I found that the folder "My Documents\BlackBerry\Backup" contains the backup files in the format: name_of_device_in_bb_desktop.pid.
I just deleted the one file that I did not need.
