Blackberry Bold 9650 transferred ringtones

Just upgraded to Blackberry Bold 9650 had store rep transfer my contacts and ringtones for me right there at the store. Thought I had it made, not so fast. I get home and want to use my ringtones, ha not so easy after all. When I click on the  ringtone music I purchased earlier this year a box comes up and stated invalid! Please make another selection!
Now what?? No matter what I click on my previous music ringtones are useless! They all bring up the same warning box!
Only my special purchased and transferred ringtones are invalid.  Now what??  Anybody else have this happen?

  • Blackberry Bold 9650 OS 6 update email setup error

Hi All, I recently updated my Blackberry Bold 9650 to operating system 6. Ever since I can not access the email setup on the phone!  I contacted verizon and they said they have had numerous calls on this. They had no fix except to go online to the VZW/Blackberry site to manage my email accounts. Does anyone have a solution to this error/bug? I used to be able to do this from the phone prior to the update! Thanks!!

    Hi,
It sounds like you need to reload your device's software.  Before you do anything else, backup your data with Blackberry Desktop Software.  Make sure you have any serial numbers, etc of any 3rd party apps written down.  When you are ready, perform a security wipe of your device.  To perform the security wipe, do the following:
Go to Options and press the trackpad.
Go to Security and press the trackpad.
Go to Security Wipe and press the trackpad.
Now, select the data you wish to delete.  I recommend placing a check in the boxes beside everything except Media Card.
Type the word 'blackberry' without quotation marks in the blank space provided.
Select Wipe Data and press the trackpad.  This will initiate the wipe process.
The whole process can take anywhere from 30-45 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on how much data you have and if it is encrypted.  Your device might restart a few times or may appear not to be doing anything, but do not stop the precess.  Once it has completed, you will be alerted.  You can then reload any of your personal data or 3rd party apps.  You may not want to do this unless you have 2 or 3 hours to spend.  Hope this helps.

  • Operating system for the Blackberry Bold 9650?

Is it possible to get the 7.0 operating system for the Blackberry Bold 9650?

Sorry. 6.0 is the highest you can go on the 9650. You could load a hybrid OS that has 7.0 enhancements, but in the end it is still a 6.0 OS.

  • Downgrade to OS 5 From OS 6 on Blackberry Bold 9650

My phone is a Blackberry Bold 9650 and yesterday I upgraded my device software from OS 5 to OS 6.  Unfortunately I do not like the way OS 6 operates.  Does anyone know how to delete OS 6 from my Blackberry Bold 9650 and then reinstall (downgrade) the OS 5 operating system on it?  I went into a Sprint Store and was told that they did not know how to do it and that they did not believe you could "downgrade" from OS 6 to OS 5.  Any help and suggestions would be appreciated!!!!!  Thank you in advance for any advice or help you can give me!!!
    Sincerely, Helen Flax

    Your Sprint people are silly..,
    1. Download and install the older version of the OS.

You want to select the 9650 device and scroll DOWN to the link to download the 5.0.0.1030 Multilanguage software.
(which has this filename:  File name: 9650_512AMEA_PBr5.0.0_rel1675_PL4.2.0.451_A5.0.0.1030_Sprint_L.P.exe
    3. Install the older OS to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    4. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    5. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

  • Blackberry Bold 9650

I just got a new Blackberry.  All I can say is I hate it.  It doesnt work.  I have had to reboot twice already, once because there was no sound on rings from calls or the alarm.  Then you can only have the default search engine Bing, which is the worst search engine ever.  Then it has a choice of only 5 or 6 ring tones instead of maybe 20 or more on my Tour.  Then the device can't seem to connect to blackberry apps site.  it keeps givnig me an error message.

I could not agree more.  I purchased a Blackberry Bold 9650 in April and it was a mistake that has turned into a complete disaster!
The browser works some of the time and i do not know if the cause the Verizon 3G network of the device, but i suspect it is the device.  I pretty much given up on using this device to surf.  Every page opens very small so each page requires manual "zooming" and some pages get stuck in zoom mode where I have to quit the browser and start over.
I am not sure about Bing, but Opera was recommended to me, but even using Blackberry apps or Verizon apps, I cannot download the Opera browser.  I suspect that either Blackberry may have something to do with the inability to download a competing product.
BTW, do not use google sync with this device.  When I do the phone created duplicate contacts and appointments where now I have over 30,000 contacts (I started with 1,100) and dozens of appointments are duplicated hundreds of times in my calendar.
The screen is small and the keyboard is difficult to use.
I have to re-power the device at least once per day or it will lock up and Verizon tech support instructed by to pull the battery at least once a week to prevent lock ups.
At least the email functions work and the device is an email workhorse.
Now, I am stuck with a lousy product for 22 more months and I am a small business with limited resources.  The Verizon sales guy in Redmond, WA told me that I could by an Android phone or a new iphone for about $800 and try to dump the Blackberry on ebay.
Do not purchase a Blackberry Bold.  There are better choices than the bad choice I made.

  • Blackberry Bold 9650 versus the Tour Bluetooth Volume

I had the Tour and the trackball broke.
It was replaced with a Bold 9650.
I was using a Blueant speakerphone.
Volume was loud with the Tour.
I would say its barely adequate with the Bold.
When OS 6 came out, I installed it after about a month.
It  caused a problem with a work program and I downgraded it. (Yes the volume on Bluetooth was awful with OS 5 and 6 I downgraded the software 05-06-11)
It's now Platform Version: 4.2.0.424 and Application Version: 5.0.0.975.
If I pair any bluetooth device to it, the volume sucks.
If I then pair the same device to any other bluetooth phone a friend has that is not my Bold, it works good, the way it did with the Tour I had.
    Enhanced Audio does doodly squat.
Bass Boost, Treble Boost is the same expectation "let down".
Changing the Media Options for louder volume does not do anything for my bluetooth call volume.
I don't understand why any other bluetooth phone or my previous Tour had/have such a louder sound than this Bold.

So, I had to pull out my old Blackberry Bold 9650 for the time being and am trying to add my additional email accounts. I had no trouble adding my hotmail and yahoo ones but it keeps giving me an error when trying to add my gmail accounts. The error says "Invalid email address or password. Verify your email address and password. If the error persists, contact gmail.com" I have tried this, no exaggeration, around 50 times. I have even triple checked that I have put in the correct email and password by using my laptop and it is absolutely not working on my phone. PLEASE HELP!

  • WiFi specs for Blackberry Bold 9650

I have a BB Bold 9650 WITHOUT camera because I work on a military base. Recently, we've been told that WiFi devices are also not allowed.
The following is the guidance we've received:
    What is NOT permitted:
Any device with a camera and/or 802.11 or any WiFi capability.
    What IS permitted:
Blackberries, Bluetooth devices and cell phones with no camera and with no WiFi capability (such as Govt-issued devices) that use cellular technology like 2G, 3G or 4G.
I'm so confused as to what technology my phone uses. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
    Thanks, Laurie

The Bold 9650 WiFi specs are as follows which means it is not permitted per your information. (from the Blackberry website)
    Bold 9650
    WiFi information
    802.11 b / g
I would recommend the Blackberry Tour which was the predecessor to the Bold 9650 phone based on your information.
This model does not have WiFi capability and was also available in a non-camera version  The Tour is still available on the website as a Certified Pre-Owned model.  Although I did not see see the non-camera version listed I would call Customer Service to see if they have any non-camera models in stock for sale.
FYI: Both the Tour and Bold are 2G/3G cellular smart phones.
    Good luck

  • Blackberry Curve 3G vs. Blackberry Bold 9650

My upgrade is in 26 days. I would like Pros and Cons of both, what the difference is between the two and why one of them would be better than the other.  It’s a tough decision and I would like to make the best choice for me, seeing as how I will have this phone for the next 2 years and I don’t want to spend several hours in the Verizon store figuring out everything at the last minute. I know the Blackberry Bold is on the higher end of the blackberry spectrum. Thank you all so much

    Hi,
A few months ago, I posted my thoughts on the Bold 9650 in the thread http://community.vzw.com/t5/BlackBerry-Devices/Tour-and-the-Bold-Compared/td-p/211580  I have had the Bold now for about 3 months and I love everything about it.  The large memory allows for more storage.  Actually, both devices have great, similar features, however, the Curve 3G is made of cheaper materials.  You can tell the difference by picking up both devices.  Because of the cheaper materials, the Curve 3G is cheaper in price.  Both have WiFi, and if you have been reading these forums over the past few weeks, a lot of people are taking advantage of the cheaper $15 dollar data plan.  I hate that fact for some of the Tour owners who don't have WiFi available on their devices.  But back to your question, I would go for the Bold, simply because it is a higher quality device and you will get your money's worth after you use it.  My advice would be to go down to one of the Verizon stores and play with both of the devices to get a feel for it.  The Bold has a higher quality screen resolution, too.  You will notice that when you pick up both devices.  Good luck,
    Doc

  • BlackBerry Bold 9650 in UK

    Hi,
Can someone tell me if the 9650 model will be available in United Kingdom and when I could expect it. I would love to get one however if will not be available I'll go for 9700.
Should I wait or the 9700 is about the same device?
    Thank you
    Misieq

Yea, but you origianlly asked if it would be "available" in the UK, which I take to mean will the carriers/mobile providers be selling it there. No, they won't.
It does have the GSM network bands, and will work. You won't have 3G coverage, though--different 3G bands there.
So, once again, the 9700 is your best bet. However, if you can do without 3G...

  • Blackberry bold 9650 os 6.0 and windows 7

For the last 48 hours I have not been able to sync my phone with my desktop. My desktop software keeps freezing whether I try to open the software from the sdesk top or whether I plug my phone in with a ubs cord and choose the snyc media option on the phone

There is no requirement to keep the Desktop Software version the same as the BB OS version...they are 100% independent. Indeed, it is always advised to use the most up to date Desktop Software version that you can, regardless of the OS level of the BB itself. They are 100% independent.
The sole consideration is if you are synchronizing with a desktop PIM (e.g., Outlook), in which case you must be sure you are using a version of the Desktop Software that supports your PIM version:
KB12268Synchronization support for BlackBerry Desktop Software for Windows
You can always find the most recent version of the Desktop Software via the official download portal:
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
And you can always find prior Desktop Software versions (if required) via a link in the thread I provided you earlier.
Further, you can always find all presently supported BB OS versions via this portal:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/apps-and-software/desktop-and-device-download-sites.html
That portal is sorted first by carrier...so it can take some digging to find all OS packages available to you (you can, with the proper "tricks", use any OS package from any carrier)
So, I believe that your best course of action would be to re-do the steps provided (linked to) in post 2 above...but this time don't stay back on Desktop Software 6.0...rather, use the newest version you can based on your Desktop PIM requirements (disregard your BB OS level when making this decision). To make sure things are the best they can be, you definitely should also do step 4 from that post...that way, you will install to your PC both the newest Desktop Software along with your specific BB OS package...that way, you will give your PC and your BB the best ability to communicate properly with each other.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Blackberry Bold 9650 Recent Issues

I woke up this morning to find many of the pre-installed applications deleted. I had tried to delete them when I first got the phone, but was told that they weren't really delete-able, but I could hide them. Today I see a lot of icons missing, even in folders, and I'm confused. Last night, my phone had a red "SOS" message where there would usually be signal bars (and I was in my house like I am every other night and have never had this problem with any phone). It didn't go away until I did a soft reset this morning, and then I noticed the missing apps. Can someone help me figure out what happened? There were 2 or 3 pre-installed apps I would've liked to hold on to, but I don't like waking up to this little "surprise" deletion.
    Thank you,
    Val

Not a problem You will also lose preloaded aps when upgrading Blackberry devices and getting the major software upgrade for the device.
Open your desktop manager and connect the device.
Go to application manager, this will show you all of the applications and allow you to check or uncheck what you want on the device. Very fast and easy.

  • Blackberry Bold 9650 Wiped by Desktop Software

I STUPIDLY downloaded BB's Desktop Software and, before I realized I clicked a wrong button,  it wiped my BB clean - it won't turn on, or nothing. Tech support didn't know what to do for it. It was perfectly fine, working so beautifully. Can it be revived?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Now, with that preparation, try out these tricks:
KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
KB27956 How to recover a BlackBerry smartphone from any state
