BlackBerry Bridge with PlayBook: Which BB phone(s)?

Can someone tell me which BlackBerry smartphone models are going to support the bridging with a PlayBook? Preferrably including sharing the phone's internet connection.
I'm thinking of picking one up so I can enjoy all of the PlayBook.

  • Blackberry Bridge with Proxy

    Hi,
I'm using Blackberry Bridge with my Playbook and it works great for email when it's not connected to the Wifi, but when I connect to the corporate Wifi (which uses a proxy) the Bridge tries to use the Wifi for the Messaging (and other) applications. This causes problems as when you try to run the Messaging application you recieve a message similar to this from the corporate proxy server:
    Access Denied to http://127.0.0.2:187/messages
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this? It would be nice if the bridge knew to always use the Bluetooth not the Wifi, or if there was an option in the Proxy settings to list exclusions from the proxy.
    Thanks,
    John

Yep, exact same issue here.  I haven't found a work around for this as of yet, I'm also interested if anyone has a solution?
For now, I've been unchecking the 'use HTTP proxy' in wifi setup so I can at least bridge with my BB for mail/calendar and the have limited ability to use the browser to navigate to company internal sites etc (that do not require proxy credential auth).  If I need to access the 'outside' with the PB browser, I've been manually editing the proxy server info on the PB.  (which subsequently kills the ability to send/rec mail etc)  Ugh...
This is definitely not ideal, I'm hoping this is addressed/resolved in upcoming updates.  (preferably proxy auto-detect, but bridge simply ignoring the proxy settings would do the trick)

  • Bluetooth, Blackberry bridge and Playbook not linking to Q10

    Please.....
After checking settings and browsing the Internet for possible problems or fixes, I'm having frustrating problems in linking my phone and playbook when they worked fine before a few wks back, does anyone know if this has been a recent problem or if this has been resolved, it does seem a waste of my 64gb playbook if I can no longer use Blackberry bridge (link from Q10 still doesn't do what it is meant to do as it did with me 9800) or bluetooth link up? Please i'm going spare here trying to fix or search for updates that always say 'unavailable for this device', starting to regret getting my new Q10  that i've had for 3mths where bridge doesn't work, bluetooth doesn't get connected properly and useful apps are not available for new Q10 device, my playbook worked wonders with my 9800!
    CTEvans

Your Playbook will never work with the Q10 like it did with with your 9800. That's just the way it is.
I would try disconnecting both devices, unpair them, and then reboot both devices and reconnect using the Bridge app. Once they do connect about all you can do access the Internet on the Playbook using your Q10.

  • BBM icon not showing in Blackberry Bridge on Playbook

I've setup the Blackberry Bridge between the Playbook, and a BB Torch, all the bridge icons are showing except the BBM icon.   Is BBM available yet through the bridge connection?
Does anyone know when a video chat app will be available, is is this going to be pushed out through an update?

Here is another example of where someone from RIM needs to STEP UP and provide a definitive answer to the question:  Is BBM supported on PB. And the related question: Is SMS messaging supported on PB.  Seems crazy that RIM is leaving new PB users in limbo.  The answers are all rumors and heresay.  Let's get a statement on this from RIM!
Similarly, there are no answers from RIM on the issues with email attachments and other email quirks.  **bleep**?

  • Blackberry Bridge App not showing on phone

    Hi,
Firstly, I realise that this is more an issue for the phone forum, but it relates to the PB so have posted it here.
I have a Pearl 9105 running OS6 (bundle 2646). I had Blackberry Bridge installed on it to connect to my PB, but since an upgrade to version 1.0.7.4 last Saturday the icon has disappeared from the phone. I have tried uninstalling, performing a battery pull, reinstalling and then a further battery pull, but it does not show up at all, though does say in Application Management that it is installed.
Please can someone suggest some way to get it to reappear?
    Many thanks,
    Neil

  • Q10 blackberry bridge to playbook problem

I have installed blackberry bridge on Q10 and playbook.  Successfully paired them up. However, on the playbook, i only see Calendar, BBM icons, but missing the email icon, which is the most useful one.  why please?
when i had the blackberry curve, this was not a problem.  thanks

Currently the only Bridge features available in the Bridge folder are SMS and BBM. You can't read the BB email on the Playbook any longer. You will need add the email account to the Playbook just as it's added to your Q10.

  • Accidentally deleted Blackberry Bridge from Playbook

Hello fellow BBers.  I have been having problems with my Bridged Email (flashing white and black repeatedly when trying to access), so I decided to deleted the Bridge app and reload - WRONG ANSWER!! Now I can not find Bridge anywhere so I can re-load the app.  It appears all my bridge functions work (except still have problem with email function), but the bridge icon is grayed out.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to re-load Bridge and has anyone had a problem opening their email like I have.  The native email works fine, but the beauty of bridge was to allow me access to my smartphone funcitons especially the email and now it does not work.
Still love my PB over any other tablet I have tested.

  • Palying with J2ME: Which java phone to buy

    Hi all,
OK, I'm not much of a J2ME guy. However, I tinkered with it about a year back and boy was it intersting! But soon I got bored of everything ending at the emulators as I didn't have a 'Java Phone' then.
Now that I've finally confirmed (long story that...) I need a new phone, I guess buying one where you can load your own midlets would be fun.
    Now the question:
    Which One to buy?
Feature/Economy wise the one I like best is Sony Ericcson's K700 (K700i In India where I live). Supports J2ME too. Any catch?
It took me some time to relaise where the best guys to answer this question were :-) So please try helping me out with this one / I put the purchase on hold.
    Thanks in adavance.

    Hi,
check this link to find out the latest J2ME enabled phones

My suggestion is that you go for Nokia phones coz they have their own API which helps you to play around developing interesting MIDlets.

  • Blackberry Bridge failure

Got a brand new UK PlayBook yesterday. I ran through the setup, installed Blackberry Bridge on the Bold 9700, paired and everything worked. This morning, the PlayBook resolutely refuses to connect to the 9700 ("Unable to connect BlackBerry Bridge with [Name of 9700]. Please ensure BlackBerry Bridge is installed on your smartphone and turned on"). Well, the app is installed and is turned on. This is deeply frustrating, not to mention flaky. I'm not rolling any more of these out if this is typical of the unit's reliability. Please advise?
    Anthony

Personally, I've not had any Bridge connection issues.
But please do this on your Playbook... hold down the POWER key and the UP volume key for about 10 seconds to allow the Playbook to reboot.
After reboot, check that your Playbook Bluetooth connection is on, same for your 9700... and see if it connects.

  • Playbook Blackberry bridge to browse photos on bb phone

I did update 2.1 for the Playbook.
I always use Playbook and Blackberry Bridge to show my clients photos I have on the phone .
Now the system is more complicated because to see the next picture I have to turn off the remote control and then click again on the picture next click to "open the playbook photography" and so on.
Besides the fact that it is slower through my bb 9810

Just curious - how did you look at your photos before? What was different?

  • Is the Blackberry bridge 100% compatible to connect to a Playbook 64GB with a new 9360 BB?

My question is around the following situation:
If I have a new 9360 Blackberry can I share my internet bandwidth via blackberry bridge to a new 64GB BB Playbook?

Bridge will work fine for emails, BBM and PIM but you might need a tether plan for bridge browser.

  • Problems with Playbook Bridge

Help... I have a blackberry torch 9800 mobile and was so so looking forward to buying the Playbook. I am a business user so 95% for wanting to buy the PB is bridge feature for emails, contacts, calendar, task, bbm and internet browsing. I downloaded bridge software to my mobile, went to the shop to try bridge on the PB before buying and was SERIOUSLY disappointed when bridged my mobile to the PB !! Reasons being: 1-my mobile froze full time. So from my mobile i could not answer incoming calls, couldn't make outgoing calls, couldn't open nor do anything on my mobile until I cancelled the bluetooth bridge connection at which time my phone worked super fast as it always does, applications open super quick, commands executed quickly etc. 2-mobile battery drained quickly during bluebtooth bridging of 10 minutes only!! So if I bridge for an hour it will suck my battery dry!! I can not carry a battery charger with me just to be able to bridge as the sales attended suggested...no way as I need to bridge at least 3 hours daily. 3-when I used the bridge Internet browser it took a good 4 minutes to simply open a new web page!! 4-when I made new appointments, tasks or contacts (or made changes to existing entries) on PB it sometimes took a good 3 minutes to show the new or amended entries on the PB!! The salesperson told me every time I made a new entry or changed an existing entry I am to close the program and reopen it to see the new / amended entry....no way and definitely NOT practical!! The salesman told me to buy a faster blackberry mobile to be able to properly use PB bridge and not have the above problems. This does not make sense to me as don't really want to buy a new mobile as my current mobile is superfast. Of course I did not end up buying the PB. Can anyone help advise how to resolve above problems as I really DO want to buy the PB to use the bridge feature on it....I love the bridge feature. Also does anyone know for future play books if they will have native emails, calendar etc + when these new play books versions will be coming out to buy??

what version bridge did you try?
What version OS was on the playbook?
Mine does not drain fast at all when bridged unless i surf a lot on the web since it will use the full internet and not the compressed version you phone usually uses.

  • Playbook not connecting to Internet via blackberry bridge

I am the owner of the playbook and love it everything's great. I recommend it to a couple of people and they are having problems.  The biggest one and reason for my cry out today is, I talked my aunt into the blackberry tablet as opposed to the kindle fire, because she is the owner of a blackberry smartphone from AT&T.  I told her how my phone connects through the bridge to get the Internet on the go without wifi, and as soon as I helped her set up her tablet with the new software she can not get the Internet through the blackberry bridge.  When I connect my blackberry smartphone to my play book I can still access the Internet without wifi so I'm  thinking its the update which I haven't done yet mine yet.  Can someone please help me, my aunt is older and depending on me and I have no clue what happened!  Thanks

AT&T require you to pay for their Internet tethering bolt on in order to use the browser etc via bridge.

  • Missing calendar entries from phone over Blackberry bridge

I have two phones bridged to the playbook. Initially I had issues seeing SMS over the bridge with a 9850. After deleting the tablet from the phone and the phone from the tablet, performing a hard reset and re-adding the devices the issue was fixed. I then got the playbook bridge to a 9930. All apps work with the exception of the calendar. I am not able to see some of my entries on the calendar displayed on the playbook even when they appear on the 9930. After deleting the tablet from the phone and the phone from the tablet, performing a hard reset on both devices and re-adding the devices the issue was not fixed. Ideas? Thank you!!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hey inieto09,
The BlackBerry PlayBook may not be configured to display the Calendar Service associated with the missing entries, please try the following:
    1. From the BlackBerry PlayBook, Click the BlackBerry Bridge icon.
    2. Click on the Calendar icon.
    3. Enter the BlackBerry Smartphone password if prompted.
    4. Tap on the Calendar Services icon. (this is the third icon from the bottom left)
    5. Ensure that the desired calendar(s) is checked
    6. Click Done.
Let me know if this helps.
    Thanks.
