Blackberry Connect

Hi All,
I just bought a E61i, and need to know where can I get the software of Blackberry Connect to be installed on my device.
Please advice.
Thank you.
Rgds,
Andika

Hi Hollom,
Thanks for the info.
I have downloaded and installed version 7.45 according to the firmware I got on my E61i. But i cannot activate it. It says something about not connected (I forgot the detail notification).
My friend tells me that the version might not compatible with my E61i, but I also installed lower version and the result is the same.
Is it related to the subscription on the provider ?
Please advice.
Rgds,
Andika

  • How to change default software in Blackberry Connect 4.0 for opening attachments

I have downloaded and installed Adobe Reader LE 2.5 to a Nokia E51 running Blackberry Connect 4.0 to overcome an issue with Adobe attachments not displaying files correctly.
When opening Adobe attachments in Blackberry Connect 4.0 it uses Adobe Reader LE 1.5 not the later version.
I can open Adobe files resident on the phone and card memory using Adobe reader 2.5 OK.
I am unable to save attachments from Blackberry Connect 4.0 to the phone or card memory to be able to use v2.5
Is there a way to change the default attachment software Blackberry Connect 4.0 uses on the Nokia handset?
Quick Office Support advised is a Blackberry Connect 4.0 Issue.

The current version supports only 'push pull' email and calendar services. It effectively works using an older BES server functionality. As I understand it, the 4.0 version supports the BES 4.0 feature set. This should allow for full synchronisation of email, contacts, and calendar / to-do items. It apparently also supports the latest admin features such as enabling the device over the air (rather than using the desktop client for this).
While the current version is certainly better than nothing, having the full BES 4.0 feature set would be a huge step forward in my opinion.

  • For Anyone who has Blackberry Connect WITH OTA Con...

I've tried with an E61i, E90, and now E51, all with the latest firmware and latest Blackberry Connect software, and nothing I do on the device allows me to be able to do OTA sync of our corporate Exchange, (Outlook), Contacts. I only have the standard 3 options for sync in my Blackberry Connect client on my phone, Email Settings, Email Filters, and Calendar.
For anyone who has this working, can you confirm whether or not there is a BES server side setting that must be enabled to allow this OTA Contact sync, and what it is? If this is the case I'm not sure our corporate BES admin will go for it, but I can at least stop pulling my hair out on the client side..
    Thanks,
    Jason

    Hi Rod,
Thanks for the link. I did went there and had a look.
First, as the article pointed out, there is a difference between Mac users and PC users. Mac users are Mac FANs, PC user are mostly just PC users. So if I look at the numbers, the number for Macs is less objective to me.
Second, the data was collected on pre-Intel units, especially iBooks, which has been around how many years? more than 5 I believe, correct me if I am wrong. Any product having that kind of life span should have a nearly perfect quality. Apple just simply had much more time to correct defect than other PC manufaturers, so no mistery here.
Third, Apple charges a premium price for its products, so it shoule choose the coponent vendors carefully and it owns its customers/fans a solid system. On the other hand, the other PC vendors are constantly going through fierce competition to lower their price, so it is inevitable to have some component vendors providing crapy parts, such as some LCD screens and keyboards from Dell.
Finally, lets look at MB and MBP, if they are as good as old Macs, then we should see similar amount of people complaining about MB and MBP as iBook and similar, but is it the case?
I very much want to be a member of the Mac world, especially now it uses one chip I worked on, but my shopping and reading experience told me otherwise - the MacBook is not ready, we need time to see if it lives up to the Apple name and it would be interesting what the next report from PC Magzine will look like...
Being a PC user almost all my life till now, want to join the Mac club, but Apple is making it supper hard for me. Is it really too much to ask for a working new MacBook upon arrival?!

  • Activation Issue - Blackberry Connect with e61i on...

    Hi,
I have been using the Blackberry Internet Service on my e61i with Vodafone UK for the past 9 months.
Today I upgraded the e61i firmware to version 2.0633.65.01, and the Blackberry Connect 4.0 7.45.0, but I am unable to re-activate the Blackberry service with my operator, Vodafone UK.
I also tried the BB Connect 4.0 version that is recommended on the Nokia site to work with Vodafone UK, but no luck either - possibly as the new e61i firmware is not backwards compatible with the older BB Connect 4.0 7.17.2 release.
My guess is that Nokia have not validated the latest BB Connect 4.0 7.45.0 version to work with the e61i on Vodafone UK's Blackberry Internet service, but I am stuck?
I thought of re-installing the older e61i firmware that did work, but I cannot seem to find a link to download versions other than the latest release (via the Nokia software updater) from the Nokia site?

I have posted already a couple of messages - no reply so far. I have done the same upgrade like Patrick- with German's T-Mobile. So, it does not seem to be the provider whi i sleeping here. I asked already in 4 Club Nokia Service Points and two already commented that Nokia is releasing theor firmware at times too quickly and before having validated the most important applications on compatibility.
I really, really hope that Nokia realises that all those potential eg. E61i fans are up against the Blackberry fraction and if they cannot maintain their BBConnect SW up-to-date they will loose a bunch of "business users" to their competitors which are hooked to a BB enterprise server with no choice of another corporate mail handheld system.
Just wanted to share this with you so that you don`t waste your time finding what YOU did wrong in your upgrade. Been there done that.
Pleeeaaasse submit if anybody has an idea.

i believe this link might solve the problem, i did the same thing but this version of the bbc software solves the problem, at least it works on vodafone uk :-)

  • E61 using Blackberry connect can't read PDF email ...

Hi, I've a E61 that has Adobe 1.5 installed. I can easily read complex PDF files yet I can't read PDF email attachments that have been sent through Blackberry connect push email service. I need to get wireless faxes and have tried both efax and Myfax and can't read either. I get a blank page with ...page break... in the centre top. Strange thing is I can partially view the pdf document using the print preview and the zoom key. Any ideas?

I have nothing to base the following on except experience...
The application on the BlackBerry that handles attachments is the BlackBerry Attachment Service.  This service communicates through your email's data connection, and doesn't necessarily display the actual contents of the attachment.  In the case of a PDF file, the file is actually converted into a graphic and then sent to your device more like a JPEG rather than the actual document.  You can view it, but it's an interpruted view, not the actual document.
You can save the actual PDF attachment in its original format, but then you need a third party PDF viewer to view it as there is no actual PDF viewer available on the device itself.
You can, of course, still attach it to another email.

  • Re: E61 Blackberry Connect

hope you can help me. I downloaded Blackberry Connect on my E61 and its there - I JUST CANT FIND IT. T-Mobile says i need to get the PIN number so ican use Balckberry Connect. HOW DO I FIND THE PIN in my E61? please help me (I'm desperate). ANDY

I have the e61 and went thorugh install procedure w/ no problems.
I recently recieved the e50 and tried the same blackberry connect install package and it did not work. The install says it successfully completed but 'blackberry' is not avaialbe when going to the 'messages > ...' menu path. I viewed the log file (using windows explorer while connected to the pc suite, log files are at root) and it said the product version is not compatible.
I went to nokia business software download site and found a new blackberry connect install package under the e50 phone (for Europe) and attempted to install. 'Blackberry' is still not available in the 'messages > ...' menu path but the app is installed under device applications. I'm using the phone in the US...
Has anyone been able to resolve this issue?
    thanks.

  • Blackberry Connect for the N97? (Nokia Messaging ...

DAVISFIELDS, VANDELAY, JEREMIAHN, DEAN98 ARE YOU LISTENING?
I know Nokia was pushing BlackBerry Connect for some E Series devices last year.  Are they going to work with RIM to get this to the N97?  The current solution of having to open three different programs for Call Log, Email traffic, and SMS Traffic blows. I can't get HTML views of exchange mail?  What century is this?
If I want HTML views of any email, I have to download a second program called "Nokia Messaging" that apparently doesn't conflict with the "Nokia Messaging" that's installed on the phone already?    I'm still limited to html views only of my popular webmail provider accounts.
Tech support (even Tier 2) at nokia doesn't even know what nokia messaging is.  Private Messaging people in the Messaging team in the forums here doesn't work.  I think it's time to recognize that the N97 and support that goes with it is half baked and it's time to sell my N97.  Just to show there are no hard feelings, here's the constructive part of my criticism.
There should be a single view of all email traffic, sms traffic, and call logs.  I should be able to go into this single view, and see at:
    4:00pm I called Bill Rogers
4:05 I received an email on my gmail account from John Holmes
4:09 I sent an SMS to Michael Chong
4:20 I Received an SMS from Cheech Marin
    4:27 I got a call from Chuck D
4:58 I sent a message to Michael Gasol from my exchange account
5:01 I sent a gmail message to [email protected]
The list should be sorted by date by default but have other sortable and search entries. This doesn't take into account that the Blackberry Connect software integrates seamlessly with their BBM (IM) client, so I also see instant messages in the list too.
Tech support at Nokia should know how to use their FLAGSHIP model. Maybe a training course on the available products?
Hire a development and UI manager for the messaging interface.  The N97 is difficult to navigate at best and having such a terrible (let me repeat that, TERRIBLE) interface, makes it likely that end users think their phone is malfunctioning. A trained monkey could figure out not to ship your messaging product until it worked better.
Oh yeah, and the message store on the N97?  If I plug my N97 into my USB port as a mass storage device, my messages get pushed onto the main memory where there is practically no storage! Now I have an extra two inboxes (for exchange and SMS) that I need to check once I've unplugged my phone.  And if you have a message in  your inbox while in landscape mode and the envelope indicator is on the upper left hand corner next to the clock, you can't press on the envelope to go to the new message.  It works in portrait just fine, and when in the home screen the envelope is on the upper right and works.
Nokia, I think it's time I make a youtube video of why your N97 messaging interface sucks so hard.  I think the largest reason I'm writing this is because I haven't gotten a response from 3 or 4 of the Nokia employees in the messaging team that I've tried to message in here.
Yeah, I'd appreciate a response.  Otherwise, I think I've reached the tipping point where I sell this garbage, start slagging Nokia and dragging their names through online mud.

  • Mail For Exchange and Blackberry Connect

    Hello.
I was a happy user of E61 with latest software update (3.x...) and had both BlackBerry Connect & Mail For Exchange installed.
I got my phone replace due to a hardware error with a new device but there's no way now to install both tools on the device.
Once the first one is installed (no matter which one), the other one dies on install with a cryptic "Update error". No other explanation given. Of course, resetting the phone and reinstalling the software other software works but now the first one exhibits the same behavior.
Anyone had any success in this area?
PS: The main reason I need both is that "Mail For Exchange" reads only my INBOX.

    Update:
after two weeks of boggling, it seems that this combination works:
    - install MailForExchange(2.7.0)_S60_3_0.SISX
    - remove MailForExchange(2.7.0)_S60_3_0.SISX
    - install S60PR2_BlackBerry(6.28.1)_2.SISX first
    - install MailForExchange(2.7.0)_S60_3_0.SISX
But this effectivly kills Blackberry as you only get a "RimAv" icon in the menu

  • Blackberry Connect opening email attachments

I'm having some problems with my blackberry connect software (4.0.0.106).  I connect into my bes server (4.1.6.14) with my AT&T tilt.  when I read an email that has a powerpoint presentation in it, all I get are the slides with nothing on them.  if there's graphics for the slide, then it just shows:
    ------slide1-------
    ------slide2-------
    some garbage text
    ------slide3-------
I think you get the idea.  if I extract the attachment on my computer and copy it to my phone, powerpoint displays it accurately.  it appears that there might be a quick view that won't let me do anything other than look at the TOC which is useless.  is there a way to make the application that owns the attachment type open the attachment on my PDA?

    Hello,
Ok, I'll have a crack at this....
The ability to view Powerpoint attachments is only available with BB software version 4.5 onwards.
I am assuming that the same is true for BB Connect (but I dont even know what version the BB Connect is up to!)
In additon I am assuming that the BB Connect does not pass the cdocument to the OS to view - that would also explain the reduced functionality. Can you view powerpoints on the Tilt natively? (Never hear dof the tilt - sorry!)
Unfortunately you will have to goto the the AT&T website to see if they have a newer version of the COnnect software for the Tilt.

  • Developing Blackberry connect for N-Series

    Hello,
I understand that Nokia has restricted the "Blackberry connect" software to the E-devices for strategic reasons but since both N and E serries are running on the s60 platform it should be technically able to have a blackberry client run on all devices. So is there a hack out there to do that or would it be hard to develop an blackberry client for N-series or is there somthing hardware related which prevents doing this.? If it is possible is there a blackberry SDK out there for S60?
    Any replies are greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Rob

    Dear development team
i absolutley agree that it makes no sense to prevent a N Series Blackberry client to be developed.
I have a, quite expensive, N82 phone and would very much appreciate to have a BlackBerry Client on it.
How long do we have to wait?

Any thoughts? Has anyone been able to get both working on an e65?

  • E 50 Blackberry Connect software

Hi there I have a NOkia e50 series phone with the following firmware 7.13.0.0 Im trying to get the blackberry connect software installed on this phone the version of the blackberry connect software is Nokia s60 Blackberry connect is 7.1.6_2 .sisx and it give me an error that is not compatible As I have tried to install other versions of blackberry connect 6.44.1_1 and 6.40.0_8 and none of these are working can you please advise me a solution to my problem

this is the nokia page for blackberry connect: http://europe.nokia.com/nokia/0,0,77178,0.html but i dont think you can download the client from there.
normally with blackberry enabled phones, you need to get the device with the client installed from your provider. I had a quick look on the 9300 page and found no trace of it there.

  • When I had my old blackberry connected to my computer, all incoming emails were routed to my outlook so I did not get mails on my blackberry.  How do I get it so my iphone4 does not receive emails when connected to my computer?

I am getting my iphone inbox bombarded so would like it to not receive emails when connected to my computer.  My old blackberry had an app that took care of this which worked really well.  Am wondering if I can do the same with my iphone4.

Blackberries were/are able to do that with some types of e-mail accounts because the mail is routed to an intermediary (BlackBerry Service).
There is no equivalent for the iPhone as the phone communicates directly with the mail servers and does not go through a 3rd party.
