BlackBerry Curve 8330 Media Card Problem

I just bought a BlackBerry Curve 8330 from amazon and activated it. Everything works perfectly except when I put a formatted media card into the device it says in options>media card: A media card is not presently inserted in the device. I have tried everything, the battery pull, reformatting the card, reformatting the O.S. and nothing seems to work. I have tried 2 different media cards in this device, a 1gb one and a 2gb one and both don't work. I tried them in other phones and they work perfectly. I would greatly appreciate some support. Also, could I send the phone into Verizon or take it to a Verizon store for repairs even though I bought it online?

OK, try this with the Media Card in the device:
(you cannot "hide" the entire Media Card, you can hide subfolders)
So, open the Media icon > press the Menu key > Explore.
Navigate to the Media Card > BlackBerry > Pictures.
Press the Menu key there > Properties, can you UNcheck the "hidden" property?
If it is grey and uncheckable, it is an empty box, or checked?
Can you see ANYthing in the pictures folder?

  • BlackBerry Curve 8330 Sound Problems...HELP!!!

Okay I just got my BlackBerry Curve 8330 about 2-3 weeks ago and it's great. But yesterday I noticed that the notification tones for the sound profiles aren't working I've checked them to make sure it's not on mute or turned off, and they weren't. And when I went into the media thing and went to go listen to the ringtones, they wouldn't even play. I don't know what's wrong with it, I've tried looking at the help thing in my BlackBerry, but it doesn't help. Also I don't have internet on my BlackBerry so that can't be a cause. Can anyone please help me and tell me what's going on with my BlackBerry and help me fix it?

Does it happen 3 times a day?
I do a pull once a week just for maintenance. Like a PC you can have fragmented memory, temp files, open files from rouge apps, etc and doing a battery pull resets them.

  • BB 8330 media card

Hi. I just got the Blackberry Curve 8330 last week and am still having some problems. My latest is this: i bought a 2 gb media card and installed into phone. Then i transferred about 50 or so songs onto the card. Later I went to transfer more music but got an error message that the files could not be transferred. I looked under options/media card and read: total space 1.8 gb   free space 1.4 gb. Talked with verizon wireless and was told to format the card, which i did. repeated everything but same problem. now verizon tells me the media card is bad. i bought a new 2 gb card, formatted, and tried again. same exact thing. once i put 20 % capacity on the card i get this same message. does anyone think it may actually be the phone? or something else? thank you.

Do you have a memory card reader? If so connect the media card to the computer via a memory card reader, and then try to load the music files there Do you get a similar message?

  • Blackberry curve 8330/ How to use as Modem

Hello Everyone! Please, I desperately need your help. I would like to use my blackberry curve 8330, as a modem for my laptop pc. Can it be done? If so; how? If it cannot be done can you let me know that as well. Thank You all very much! I wait to hear from someone

    Bluetooth profiles
Depending on your BlackBerry® device model and wireless network, some profiles might not be supported.
A/V Remote Control (AVRCP): This profile allows you to use the buttons on a Bluetooth enabled headset to perform actions such as adjusting the volume or playing the next or previous media file on your BlackBerry device. Data Transfer: This service allows you to connect your BlackBerry device to Bluetooth enabled devices that support the transfer of data such as media files.
Desktop Connectivity: This service allows you to connect your BlackBerry device to a Bluetooth enabled computer that is running BlackBerry® Desktop Software so that you can synchronize your organizer data.
Dial-Up Networking (DUN): This profile allows you to use your BlackBerry device as a modem when it is connected to a Bluetooth enabled computer that is running BlackBerry Desktop Software.
Handsfree (HFP): This profile allows you to connect your BlackBerry device to Bluetooth enabled headsets and car kits that support the Handsfree profile.
Headset (HSP): This profile allows you to connect your BlackBerry device to Bluetooth enabled headsets that support the Headset profile.

When you use this feature, data services (browser service, email messaging, PIN messaging, and MMS messaging) are not available on your device, and phone services are accessible only through the car kit. Before you can use this feature, you might need to enter a 16-digit alphanumeric code, generated by the car kit, on your BlackBerry device.

  • Blackberry Curve 8330 not playing music

I purchased this Blackberry Curve 8330 in new condition. I bought a 4gb sd card for my music, ringtones, etc. I synced the music to my sd card using windows media player and then plugged the sd card into my phone. It plays some music. Most of the other music has this error, "An error has occured when attempting to play media." Then it just goes to the next song, same thing happens, next song, and so on. The music plays perfectly when I play it from my sd card on my computer. I have tried the files in MP3 format and WMA format. Any help?

  • Google Maps no longer works for my Verizon Blackberry Curve 8330. What is wrong with Google???

For the past 11 months, Google Maps and Gmail have worked wonderfully with my Verizon Blackberry Curve 8330. Tonight, all of it stopped working. I tried to load Google Maps and failed. Kept getting the error message "Network Unavailable, blah blah blah". I tried restarting the phone, removing and reinserting the battery, until I finally uninstalled Google Maps. Now when I point my browser (OperaMini) to m.google.com to download and reinstall Google Maps, it says "Sorry the Google Maps application does not work on your 8330." This makes NO sense. Why would Google suddenly remove support for my phone? Is there a work around? Before uninstalled, I tried all sorts of tricks with editing permissions to no avail.
Also, Gmail is refusing to check mail, occasionally saying that a data connection is needed. That also makes NO sense as I have great phone reception.
My internet (OperaMini) and normal calling and texting capabilities are unaffected.
In conclusion: Is there ANY WAY to get these Google applications to reinstall and work on my phone? Or has Google screwed me over? Any help would be tremendously appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Hyun

  • BlackBerry Curve 8330 won't boot, LED blinks and hourglass spins

I bought this pink BlackBerry Curve 8330 in December of 2008. It has worked perfectly since and I've never gotten it wet. It's been dropped 4-5 times, but never from more than 3 feet.
This afternoon, in the middle of writing a text, it suddenly powered off and the red LED light came on like it does when it is turning back on. It went off, the screen stayed black, then a few seconds later the screen turned on with an hourglass spinning for about five seconds, then the light turns off and everything goes black again for a few seconds, then the LED light comes on again and the cycle is repeated. It did this five times before I had to put it away as we drove home. When I got home, it had finally booted the whole way, but the battery was so low the radio was off, so I plugged it into the USB charger on my desktop computer.
When I came back later, the phone had stopped charging and was on a black screen with the LED light on, just like earlier. It went through this cycle a few times.
I pulled the battery and put it back in, same thing happened. Black screen, white screen with hourglass, black screen.
I plugged it back into the USB charger and as I type this, the little psycho has booted completely and it shows that it is charging.
    Device info
    Your carrier: Telus Mobility

    Apps and free space
File free before and after a battery remove/replace.: 28042909 bytes / same
Did a battery pull fix your issue? No
Apps installed and their version if possible.: Too many to type out right now, but the latest ones to be updated were SocialScope Lite v0.9.6.20, BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.2.12 (both updated automatically)
BT device model/version (you will have to look at the BT device): No bluetooth (hope that's what BT stands for)
How can I fix this so it doesn't keep happening? Thanks so much in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Windows live on blackberry curve 8330

Hi everyone, I'm new to the world of blackberry, only had mine for 1 week.  The question I need to know is I have a blackberry curve 8330, it came with blackberry messenger on it, but I didn't really like it, so I don't know if I did wrong, but I put windows live for blackberry on it....seems to work fine, now that I have it on I have been wondering if I should have done it, could I have problems down the road.
    Solved!

Indeed, you carrier may prevent you from using the Windows Live service on your BlackBerry device.
but it was available back in July 2008.

  • BlackBerry Curve 8330/BlackBerry Storm Dilemma

So I'm a college student and it was just time for a new Cellphone and I wanted the BlackBerry Storm. I was going through with the deal on a particular site that had it lower priced than the original price. So I was filling out the contract and by the end decided, it may be cheaper to get another phone. (Well I didn't decide this, but it's not the point)
So instead I go and checkout the BlackBerry Curve 8330. I'm filling out the contract and I fail to realize during the process that it's basically around the same price as the BlackBerry Storm with all of the features that add up at the end. So I go ahead and get it.
After the fact I do the math and finally realize......"HEY! For the price I might as well have stuck with the BlackBerry Storm."
So now I'm just wondering, before I beat myself up too much if there is any reason to beat myself up. Is the BlackBerry Storm really that good or am I better off with the BlackBerry Curve or does it matter? I really wanted a new TouchScreen phone and I liked the look of the Blackberry Storm. Not to mention I'm finding out that the Curve is rather old right. Although I do like the Curve. So yeah.
Any input will be greatly appreciated. I just joined just to ask this so I hope it was worth it.
    Thanks.
I pay your bill and I maintain your place of residence.
I use you yet I get no use out of you.

What has your RingBack Tone done for you lately?

    So, I got the Storm.
Has some really jiggy action problems on the keyboard and in other areas.
I found the Curve so much easier to operate in just minutes of playing with it at the store.
I just got back from Verizon where another guy was having the same problems.  He had the Curve prior to the Storm and recommended the Curve over the Storm.
He pulled out from Verizon and went to AT&T for the new Bold.
I think you can chill and enjoy the Curve.
I am sleeping on it and may go back pay $35.00 restock and get the Curve.  But maybe not.  My 12 year old son is talking me into staying with the jiggy Storm.
I'd say stay with your Curve and move on!
    Peace,
    MQ

  • Blackberry curve 8330 wont charge

When i am charging my blackberry curve 8330, it doesn't charge. It has a green light that is flashing !! Can anyone help me with this problem. I just got it today !! It turned on for a good 5 minutes but than died !! HELPPPP ??????

    Hi aeroyang12
    Welcome to BlackBerry Support Forums
If green light is flashing , then it might be possible that your battery has completely drained out .So please connect it with a good wall charger it let it charge for a few hours, Don't try to turn on your device again and again. After a few hours say 2 hrs while it is connected to the charger remove the battery from the back of your device and then re-insert it back , you can do this sequence every 2 hrs to see if that helps .
Try it or if you can manage a good fully charged battery try that on your device to see if your device boots up.

  • Blackberry Curve 8330 – fixes for poor audio quality?

    Hello,
    I have a BlackBerry Curve 8330.
When I use it to play music (mp3s with a good high bit rate) the sound quality is excellent using the “official” headphones that came with the phone (3.5mm jack) and when I play music using the phone’s speakerphone.
But I run into problems when connecting the phone to 1) External computer speakers (good ones) and my car’s auxiliary input (2007 Camry) to play music off my Curve on the car speakers/system. In both these instances I am connecting the BlackBerry with a male-male 3.5mm connector wire (I understand that the Curve has a 3.5 mm headset/audio output, unlike most phones which are 2.5 mm outputs?).
I have tried several 3.5 mm male-male connector wires but get the following problems when playing music on both the external computer speakers and my Camry:
-- Low volume and muffled sound
-- A loud one-second burst of static/click when the music player goes to next song
Can you help me figure this out?
    Thanks!

I have the same problem. Using my iPod fixed the problem.

  • Blackberry Curve 8330 & The New Jawbone

I recently bought a Blackberry Curve 8330 & The New Jawbone, and I'm having a trouble with Bluetooth connection. Once Ipair them up, they stay connected well, and suddenly, it disconnected and reconnected by itself. Sometimes, Bluetooth function in Blackberry becomes disabled by itself. So I took the Blackberry to Verizon store and replaced to the new one, but still same problem occurs. Any ideas??

Hi and welcome to the forums!
    Two things to try:
    1. Options - Bluetooth - Scroll to paired device (jawbone Click - options Make sure option Trusted is enabled
    2. Options -  Bluetooth -  Address book transfer Disabled
According to the knowledgebase it fixes a problem where the Bluetooth accessory drops off after a call is made.
    Hope this helps!

  • Blackberry Curve 8330 and Exchange Email??

Just got a Blackberry Curve 8330 and was hoping I could use it to get my corporate email.  We are using Exchange SP2 behind an ISA 2006 firewall and OWA is using a self-signed certificate for SSL.  When I attempt to setup this email on my Curve it can not connect to the Exchange server.  I was told that the Blackberry could use OWA to connect, but I am guessing either the ISA server or the self-signed certificate for OWA is causing the problem.  I really love the phone and don't want to have to swap it for something else because of this issue.

Ok, well first things first, Does your company have a Blackberry Enterprise Server with their exchange??
If they do, u need to have a Blackberry Enterprise plan on your service and you can connect straight to their BES/Exchange.
If they don't have a BB server, you will need to create a pop3 email to link to your device, and have your company forward all your exchange email to your pop3 email.
This is so large companys must 'pay' a few grand to host a Blackberry server and thus have the email all go through fine..
If your company does not wish to do this, you must sneak around it the 'Blackberry Internet Solution' way...
If your issue is resolved, put a checkmark in the green box that contains the resolution.

  • Blackberry Curve 8330 Error when doing backup

My blackberry curve 8330 has never been able to back up ... i thought that it may have just been my laptop as it was on its way out but i just bought a new laptop and set up the software on it and my blackberry still will not back up or sync with my laptop.  What can i do to fix this problem?

your backup is good except your sound profiles
you could also go to backup-restore- advanced
push all databases from right to left except profiles
then file save... this way you get backup without the sound profiles
