BlackBerry Curve 8500

App error 523 showing up on screen.  Shown beginning screen once booted with one of my screen photo and then goes to white screen with app error 523.  How can I clear this so that I can get into my phone for using it and my calendar.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  I do not know that much about my phone and hope my information is still on the phone.  Thank you.

    HELP
    Hi Ludwigsburg,
    Try these steps:
From the BlackBerry's main menu, select Options.
    From the Options menu...
BlackBerry OS 6 and OS 7 users select Device and then select Application Management.
BlackBerry OS 5 users select Applications.
BlackBerry OS 4 users select Advanced Options and then select Applications.
From the Application menu, select Epocrates and press the menu key.
    Select "Edit Permissions."
Press the menu button and select "Reset Firewall Prompts."
Connections, Interactions, and User Data must all be set to Allow. If they are set to Custom, press the "A" key on the BlackBerry. This will change the setting from Custom to Allow.
Press the menu key and select "Save."
Back out to the Options menu. Select "Security Options."
    Select "Firewall."
Be sure that Status is set to "Disabled."
Be sure that none of the boxes under the heading "Block Incoming Messages" are checked. If any are, uncheck them.
Press the menu key and select "Save."
Back all the way out of the Options menu, and try the Epocrates update process again.
    Good luck!
Please thank those who help you by clicking the button.

  • Help blackberry curve 8500

Hi had my phone for about to weeks and the trackpad dont seem to work.  The only problem is all my contacts have been saved to the phone so i cant get my contacts and its for work use. please can someone tell me how i can get my contacts.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
    Best!

Device operating system releases are "released" by specific carriers once they have certified and trained their support techs, but still, you are able to load to any carrier's same model by following the instructions below.
Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.
    1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

  • Curve 8500 broken, White screen

Hi just got my blackberry today it's a curve 8500, I downloaded the twitter app and it needed to restart itself so I click ok. Now it's just won't start up theres just a White screen with the loading wheel in the middle.
I have no idea what's wrong with it, just wondered if any of you have any idea what I can do to fix it or what the problem is. It's been like this for an hour now, occasionally the screen will go off, the red light will come on and then the white screen loading screen will appear again.

    Before anything else,
Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner:
With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescirbed for most gltiches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.

  • Switch b/w edge and GSM on Blackberry Curve 9380

Hey few days back I bought Blackberry Curve 9380. Basically I'm new to Blackberry Universe.
Generally when I'm at home, I prefer to use GSM only coz I have Wi-Fi. But when I swtich off data usage, connect to Wi-Fi, the Browser and other internet applications say that they are unable to internet.
Also guide me how to switch b/w GSM & edge network...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

First Your need BIS - Blackberry Internet Serives subscription from Vodafone IN, this is the unique feature which seperates other mobile devices from Blackberry.
Browser, Facebook, twitter and all other apps require BIS subscription. Only appworld will work in Wi-Fi mode.
You can change the Browser settings to Hotspot to work in wifi, but i think in OS 7 it will detect automatically.
if you have BIS subscription 3G is free.

  • Need help with a Blackberry Curve 9300, please...

Hello, everyone, I had a look around the forum and came across a post which offered advice one what to include in questions, so I have tried to include the info below.
    Device info
Your carrier: Unlocked (was using Virgin)
Model info and OS version (Go to Settings, then Options, then about): Blackberry Curve 9300, OS 6
    Apps and free space
File free before and after a battery remove/replace. (Go to Settings, then Options, then status): 60%
Did a battery pull fix your issue? No
Apps installed and their version if possible.   (Go to Settings, then Options, then applications): None, only the ones that come with it after reset to factory
BT device model/version (you will have to look at the BT device): Don't know what this means
    When writing your question
Any other details that would help us out with your issue: This was my teenage brother's phone, which since has been given to me. The phone was severely mistreated; thrown around, stepped on and chewed. The battery had to be replaced as well as the middle chassis and the front and back cases along with the keyboard, bottom clip and screen.
Good description of what is really wrong and how to reproduce if possible. Details of what you did before: I managed to get it working after I had replaced everything listed above, but it will not charge using the cable. I have to keep taking the battery out and plugging it in seperately to charge, then putting back in the phone. This is after replacing the cable as my brother broke that too, so it's not the cable. He's damaged the data/ charge port.
The camera will not work, but at the moment I am not looking for a solution for that. The error is: "Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening the camera again". No applications are open and the OS has just been updated to the most recent version. For this reason, I think he's managed to break that too and it would need to be replaced if that's possible.
My issue at the moment... My mother, as you can imagine is furious with him for trashing the phone she bought him at about £250 when it was new a couple of years ago. So, as I have managed to get it to turn on and pick up wi-fi, she has said I can keep it. I am on Virgin Mobile and this phone is unlocked. It will not pick up any network even using my Virgin SIM card which works fine. My brother was also using it on Virgin.
I can use it with wi-fi and have already contacted t-mobile and Virgin Mobile to make there there's no problem with them. There isn't. The number has been put under my ownership and the phone registered to me now. It is not blocked or blacklisted, yet, only comes up with SOS for network.
Because of this, they and the local phone shop think he might have damaged the antenna inside. I am an iPhone user, this is the first time I have used a Blackberry, so I have no idea - can the antenna be repaired by myself?
Or, given that the camera doesn't work either/ needs replacing, would it just be better to get a replacement using my contents insurance? I am unsure which would be cheaper, to get the parts and try and fix it myself, or pay the excess for the insurance.
    Advice appreciated... Thanks in advance.

    Hey MaggzieP,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
This KB article will determine if it is a software or hardware related issue for the camera: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15544
Also if you tried more than 1 SIM card in the BlackBerry Curve 9300 smartphone and it still shows SOS, this could be hardware related as well.
For all repairs, I can only suggest checking with the point of sale or network service provider for further options.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

hi i dont seem to be recieving any emails or facebook notifications to my blackberry curve...

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Let's start with the emails. What method did you configure for email? BIS, BES, Desktop Redirector?

  • How can I get my blackberry curve 8900 to update to 5.0 and get wifi to work?

I bought a blackberry curve 8900 around a year ago on an AT&T plan back when data plans werent required, so it just has minutes and texting. because of an issue i had with data before, i have data disabled completely on my account to prevent any mistaken data being used up and charging me. my AT&T contract recently expired so i called them up and got my blackberry unlocked, and will be soon switching to tmobile.
My problem is that it refuses to update past 4.6 over to 5.0 because of some restriction on it placed by AT&T, and my wifi wont work unless i have data enabled for the same reason. Is there anything i can do? I've tried installing 5.0 from different service providers onto my phone but it never installs properly.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
While you can (with just a trick or two) use any carriers OS package for your specific model number, it won't do any good since all 5.0 level OS's require a data plan, regardless of which carrier. So, without that, you can't update to 5.0. Further, it is the data plan that activates BIS -- which is what is used to run the BlackBerry Browser...hence that non-functionality also. Basically, a BB without a data plan is, to many, pretty useless.
There are other browsers that bypass BIS and will use a generic data plan (assuming you have that)...OperaMini and Bolt come to mind. You might give those a try.
    Good luck!

  • My blackberry curve 8520 has lost all my pictures in the lost.dir folder how do I recover them

I have a blackberry curve 8520 and it has moved all of my pictures on my memory card into a folder called LOST.DIR (I`m not 100% sure they have moved there but  I found a lot of files in there that seem to be my pictures) I am not sure how I  can recover these files, please help! I`m not sure if it has something to do  with the fact that a few weeks ago I was taking a picture and a pop up came up  and said something along the line of there wasn`t enough memory on my SD card so  pictures will save on device memory and I clicked yes. I`ve taken out the SD  card and battery several times and that hasn`t worked. I took someone else`s  advice an moved the folder into the DCIM folder where I was able to rename one  file to . jpeg but I cannot open it. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey Tosin29188,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Are you able to locate this folder when accessing the media card from a PC or Mac?  Also are the pictures files renamed to a different extension? (For example: Picture.rem)
Are you able to open the media files up on a computer?
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.
