Blackberry Curve 8520 will not turn on!

Hello, I am desperately hoping someone can assist me with the problem I am experiencing with my Curve 8520.
I have spent ages online looking at other forums and trying to see if people have had the same issue as me and to see if anyone had worked out what the problem was and could resolve it. It appears as though I'm the only one having this exact issue!
Yesterday, my phone turned off, without me using the off button. It was sat beside me, untouched but when I went to check it, it had turned off. I believe this has happened before and was not an issue, so didn't panic. However, when I tried to turn on the device, it would not work.
Whenever I attempt to turn it on the red light shows for a while, before it attempts to switch on (loading bar screen shows). It looks as though it is about to work sometimes, but gets to the same point, which is probably about 5% complete and then goes dead again. It continues to try to switch itself on without my command.
I have tried charging it, leaving the battery out for a while and trying again etc etc but to no avail.
It's such a shame because I was looking to splash out on a new model (as this now, it quite a low grade of BB!) but after this issue I am not so sure. Reading forum posts from other users whilst attempting to find a remedy for my issue has only out more doubt in my mind about using BB again. I sincerely hope my faith can be restored.
Please let me know if I missed any information which would be helpful, I am not very 'techy' at all.
Thank you.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
Remove the battery
Wait 15 minutes
Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
Good luck and let us know!

    Hello Hasanm52,
    Welcome to the community!
Seems OS is corrupt, so you have to arrange a USB cable to connect your devci with the pc.
    Procedure to install OS:
1.) Download and install blackberry device software of Blackberry 8520 from www.blackberry.com.
2.) Install it in your PC & connect your device with PC.
    3.) Access path c:\prog. files\Common files\ Reasearch in motion\ App loader\ now dowble click on loader.exe
4.) Further procedure i very user friendly, so please follow steps (may take approx 90 mins).
5.) In between, it will prompt you to take backup as well, so do take care while clik next or continue.
    Good luck..!!!
Before doing above activity you may try
By pulling out battery & connect device with charger without inserting battery & wait for 5 to 10 mins.
Itwill prompt you a no battery sign on your handheld, once you get the sign on your handheld, insert battery without un plugging charger 7 wait for another 5 to 10 mins. Hope this will work for you....
otherwise you have to perform the first procedure, i mentioned...
    Thanks....!!

I am not one of those trained people, I'm a user like everybody else but I've gained a lot of technical knowledge through use and research. Sorry to disappoint.

  • Blackberry Curve 8520 won't turn on or charge

My blackberry curve 8520 will not turn on,there was a red light on for a minute! Took out my sim card, memory card & battery and tried to charge it then. It came up for literally one second a drained battery sign. Really don't want to send it away, any help would be great Thanks!

Leave the device to charge 2-3 hours, and then, still connected to the charging cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. If it boots--leave it to charge to 100% (check Options > Status for the percentage). If it doesn't reboot on the first attempt, leave it several more hours. I've had one charge for two days before it came back to life after an extreme battery depletion. Every 3-4 hours, with the device still connected to the charger, you can remove and replace the battery to see if it reboots.

  • BlackBerry Curve 8520 BIS not connected

    Hi,
I got a BlackBerry Curve 8520 at work and for some reason my BIS is not working, it says not connected and I cannot manage to fix it. The below is what I did so far.
    1. Verified with my carrier (MTEL.BG) that I have all necessary data serivices enabled.
    2. Restarted the handheld a couple of times (battery pull and waited 30 secs).
    3. Resed to factory settings.
Tried to register my device using Host Routing Tables (the table is empty) but nothinh happen.
Called Tech support and they attempted to register my devide without success. They said that probably my handheld have a defect and to replace it.
Somehow I believe that either my carrier or me are missing something and this must be fixable.
    Any ideas?
EDIT: My phone signal is always edge but I noticed that workmates (with BIS working) have EDGE instead.
    Thanks in advance!

Since this is "at work", is it a BES-level BB? If so, then you will need to check with your BES admins...it is possible for them to block BIS services via IT Policy.
    Cabeza2000 wrote:

That is very indicative. You should receive one message from your carrier when you register the HRT. If not received, then no other things will work. So this must be resolved first.
I suggest, as above, that you talk to your BES admins.
    Good luck!

  • Blackberry curve 8520 is not working/rebooting

since last week my blackberry curve 8520 is shut down and not rebooting, I have tried many time but when reboot it an error # 523 accour and set goes held, pls help me that How I can start it

    1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
    "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
    3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
    4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
    5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.
BlackBerry Device Operating System downloads: http://www.blackberryforums.com/blackberry-device-specific/
Just select the appropriate device model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.
IF the above does not work or help, You will need to use JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:
    Download JL_Cmder http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-software/18789-jl_cmder.html
    or download BBSAK http://bbsak.org/download.php
If JL_Cmder does not work, you can try this:
    KB10144, http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB10144
    and this: KB20371 http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB20371

  • Blackberry Curve 8520 Keyboard not working

A few months ago the keyboard of my Blackberry Curve 8520 stopped working out of the blue, I checked the water damage indicator and it is was still white.  I left the phone and used a spare one, so I knew it was nothing to do with the sim card.  Yesterday I decided to check on my blackberry and it worked! Then this morning at 8am the alarm went off, I turned it off and left my phone alone but when I went to use it at 8:30 it had completely stopped working, not even the trackpad.  A few hours later the trackpad started working again but that's it, no keys or any of the side buttons.
So now as soon as the screen goes black that's it you have to do a battery pull to get the screen to light up again.
This is very annoying and has been going on since April now and I would really love to know what causes it, anyone know?

If you can tell that it is not a harware issue or what not, then it may be a software issue that can be fixed by a clean reload. Please check the link below to guide you through the steps.

Goodluck and let us know if this resolves the issue.

  • Blackberry curve 8520 buttons not reacting properly

I have just bought a blackberry curve 8520, I have put in my sim card, everything goes fine, but the keyboard was not reacting, only the roller in the centre, now i have seen the posts about taking it out and cleaning it,but I just cannot get it out, the more i try the more it looks like it is getting damaged. But anyway after fiddling around with it. I discovered if I hold the button on the left side of the phone(the voice activation button) then press the back button etc i can control it, and get to the different screens, but obviously this is not ideal. Does any one know how i can sort this problem out? I have gone to options and checked if it has been changed to do this on the keyboard options and it has not, the option is still set to voice dialing. Help Please!!!!!

    Hey ruang007,
Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
From what you have described this sounds like a hardware issue, I would suggest contacting your point of sale to review warranty and repair options.

  • BlackBerry Torch 9800 Will NOT turn on PLEASE HELP

My phone went black today and will not turn back on.. I have taken out the battery and the sim card, when i put them back in the red light at the top just flashes and nothing comes on the screen. I have tried to boot it by charging it and hooking it up to the computer. The BlackBerry desktop manager says it can not connect to the phone. PLEASE HELP

I have had the same problem 3 times over the past 2 years.  The first time, Telus replaced the phone immediately as I was told it was a factory defect.  The second time happened within the warranty period and TELUS decided to send it to BlackBerry to get it repaired.  Phone came back,4 weeks later and worked properly but within a month same issue, does not boot up. Third time and three weeks later a new Torch came back from BlackBerry w on what was wrong with that phone.  Now I am staring at the same problem on the THIRD TORCH I HAVE HAD IN TWO YEARS!!! What kind of defective product is BlackBerry shoving down our throats.  As consumers we should expect what we purchase to work and not have to waste 4 hours reloading this and uploading that. Frankly I don't want to find the time to upload a bootfile that is missing, WHY IS IT MISSINg? Why is there a problem in the first place with the phone.  If there is a defect, own up to it and recall them.  I have had BlackBerries for the last 10years, this one is going into Lake Ontario and I am buying a an ANDROID.  Its funny how even the sales people at the corporate TELUS Store and the tech support atff on the phones told me to just chuck it and never buy another BlackBerry again because they are also sick and tired of letting their customers down.
Is this a 9800 you're talking about? Reading your post, this is actually the 4th time that you've had this happen, with 3 different phones, correct?
When you talk about "reloading this and uploading that", are you talking about reloading the OS, or applications? I'm wondering if there's a particular application you're loading that's causing it.
While I'm sure there are faulty 9800s out there, and I've had a few myself (among 80 users), I find it hard to believe that you could end up with three faulty ones in a row. Are you able to get the battery charged somewhere, just to be sure it's not just a dead flat battery? It might be that you've got an application that's flattening your battery to the point where the phone can't start, even on the charger.
