Blackberry Curve personal email issue

Hi guys,
I have got myself one of these for my work and personal emails. I do not have the exchange blackberry server to access at work.
Effectively I want to set up two accounts (both personal in terms of this). I do not have this option in the set up wizard. I have tried several things.
Can anyone advise if this is an orange issue and I need to contact them? When I first switched on the phone I saw both options - but did skip the step. Going back into it I only have the buiness option now.
Thank you for any help in advance.
Cheers

Greetings.
You must have the BB Data Plan from your carrier (a BIS plan) in order to get the icon for "personal email setup".

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
If you are attempting to configure it for BES, then I suggest seeing your BES admins as they control the activation process.
If you are attempting to use your firm's internet-facing OWA and use BIS, then use these instructions:

  • Blackberry Curve 8530 text issues, please help!

I have a problem opening some texts on my blackberry curve 8530, most of the texts i get are threaded and i can read them fine. When I get texts from certain people and i open it, its just black and i cannot see any text so I have to forward the text to my phone to see what the person has texted me.  Then i have to delete the text i forwarded to myself otherwise it wont work the next time i send another fwd text to myself to see what they said. It happens consistently with the same people in my contact list.  Most people are fine, but theres a few people i text that this happens with and it happens every time they text me. Ive looked through settings and I have no idea how to fix this or how to change it. Its getting really old to have to fwd the texts people send me back to my phone to read them every time they text  me. Can anybody please help me????? It would be much appreciated.  Please please help me with this or explain to me whats going on with it.  I have no other problems with my phone other than my screen freezing up every once in a while.
    Thanks so much!
    Diana

Diana, the first thing I would suggest before doing something more invasive like a device wipe and restore is a simple reboot:  With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
    See if the issue perists.

  • BlackBerry Curve 8330 - Email is showing up as a text alert

I recently set up an email account on my BlackBerry Curve 8330.  Now I am receiving my emails as a text msg alert.
How do a I resolve this so my email as its own folder.
    Thanks.

Start by doing a battery pull - while the device is on, remove the battery for 30 seconds, then reinsert it and wait for the device to reboot.  Does that help?
If it doesn't, ensure that the email folder isn't just hidden.  On the homepage, press the BB Menu button and select Show All (should show a little check mark).  See if you can find the email folder.
If that still doesn't work, please let us know as there are some other things we may be able to try.

  • Blackberry Curve and Facebook issues

I'm sure I'm not the only one...but I've finally decided to come here to see if anyone has an answer or solution to this problem.
I will post something via computer to my facebook page and then when I'm away from my computer I might get a response to a posting. I will then use my blackberry curve to send a response.  Most of the time it works just fine...but there are times (these are the ones I'm trying to figure what's going on and what the solution is) where the response I send goes through just fine but once it hits facebook two issues happen:
    1.   This appears on my message on Facebook Ô  when this happens it splits up the message into two seperate messages. I only see this on line.
    2.  when I view my Facebook page on my phone I get this message "Error encounterd during XML parse: Invalid character '&#x5' encountered. This pertty much prevents me from going any further down that particular posting on Facebook when looking on my phone.
What do I need to do to resolve this issue?  Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

  • Blackberry Curve 3G 9330 issues.

    Phone: Blackberry Curve 3G 9330
    Carrier: Verizon Wirless
    Software: v6.0.0.524
As far as apps and items on the phone i have Slype, Windows live Messenger, Slacker, pandora, Yahoo, AIM.
Aside from having these majority of them do not work. I bought the phone a few months back and I updated it to the OS 6 version. After this update things on my phone stopped working. Texts would delay for retrieval/sending and apps wouldnt work and the Blackberry App World wouldnt allow any downloads. Ive gone through all steps to allow it and set allowances for apps to do what is needed of them. After weeks of waiting and looking around Im still not seeing a second update to fix issues and bugs and my carrier has repeatedly told me that it is a software issue. I have also repeatedly done the "Battery Pull" to attempt to fix whatever it could yet nothing seems to be working. Im paying for services on this phone because i need it to do what features it offers. Yet this "Smart phone" doesnt seem to be so smart after all. Anyone have any word or advice on fixing this or when we can expect another update?

If all these things yo have  done and nothing happend then plaese i suggest that downgrad the os to the os which is buitlin for your BB. And also please try to resend the service books. That will help you.
As i see that you probelms starts only when you update your OS. So plase downgrade your OS.
I hope you can understand me.

  • BlackBerry Curve 8330 Email Deletion Question

Greetings and Salutations Black Berry People!
I have a BlackBerry Curve 8330 and a question concerning it.
My phone is currently connected to an exchange server that I sync with my phone. Is there a way to delete emails from my phone all at once, a mass purge of old emails under 1 condition: I don't want the emails on the exchange ( the old ones) to be deleted as well.
I've set my phone to delete messages from my phone after 30 days but can I do what I said in the above paragraph now?
    Thanks a bunch!

    hello,
in the messages application options, there is one to check delete on : handheld only.
so that if you delete a message on your blackberry, it is not deleted on the server.
in the messages list, you can hover on a date, hit menu key and select "delete prior". It will delete all messages that have a date before that date.

  • BlackBerry Curve 9330 - email no longer accepts Hotmail

Yesterday I received an email from BlackBerry saying that I have a 'Service Plan Update' and that my plan has been updated and now only supports a blackberry.net email address and that other email addresses (my hotmail) have been removed.
I have my phone plan under Element Mobile and when I called them they said that there is nothing that they can do because this is a BlackBerry issue.  I am one year into my two year plan and will not be happy if I can no longer receive my emails from my personal Hotmail account.  Has anyone else had this issue?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I just love it when the carriers fob things off and quickly blame RIM. They are flat wrong. The carriers each control exactly the services they deliver to their end users. For them to fob this off to RIM is pure falsehood. If you have a contract with Element that says you should be receiving certain services, and they are no longer delivering those services, then they are breaching the contract they have with you. RIM is not involved in the contracts to the end users.
If I were you, I'd be very upset with Element about this...and I'd be escalating with Element to obtain satisfaction.
    Good luck!

  • Blackberry Calender and Email Issue

I have a Curve for my work.  We don't use outlook, and instead use two different types of systems for our email and calendar functions.  I have the phone synced to both.  I set them up yesterday and they each seemed to work fine.
Today the Blackberry keeps sending out messages about different appointments, most of them appointments that are way in the future. Two everyone whom I have a calendar connection with... Almost like it's reconfirming what's already been confirmed.  Any ideas how to stop it?

Did you change the date and time of your device?

  • Blackberry Curve 8520 Button Issues

I've recently started having multiple issues with my BB. The issues all started at the same time and they did (for a brief period) all stop at the same time.
    The issues are:
When the screen goes black/idle, having to hold down a key/button (rather than press a key/button) to get to the unlock screen
S key not working at all
Holding down shift or alt whilst pressing another key does not do anything.
Any ideas? Already tried multiple batttery pulls.

  • Blackberry Curve 8330 Audio Issue- No Alerts

    Hey all,
I've got a quick question about a phone for one of my clients that has been driving me nuts (the issue... Not the client ). She keeps having all audio notification (and even the ability to play audio through the Media Player) stop, requiring a battery pull to resolve the issue.  We have been through three different units (two of which we did NOT do backups or transfers of any sort) and yet the issue continues.  I'm a little baffled by what it could be. She informs me that she has not been adding additional content to the device (ringtones and other MP3s) and that the only additional App she is using is the MSN Messenger. The version of the Curve software my carrier is using is 4.5.0.253... Any suggestions you could send my way would be much appreciated!
    Thanks a lot!

I'm not sure exactly how to fix this, but I have had an error on media player saying "media processor is busy". There is a KB article on it here: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB14028&sliceId=2&docTy...
Just something to read up on before somebody with a better idea comes along

  • Blackberry Curve 8330 Email Filters

Almost all the mail I receive on my Blackberry is spam. I have good Outlook filters on my desktop computer, but my Blackberry has vastly too much spam.
If this were my desktop, I would solve the problem by only viewing message from people in my address book. When I go to the Blackberry site, I see there is filtering functionality, but the box in which you place filter email addresses is quite small. My Outlook address book contains about 2,500 contacts, so if I want to limit my BB messages to my Outlook contacts, I would need to copy/paste 2.500 email addresses in this small box.
I am looking for any suggestions as to how to best limit my BB email messages to my Outlook contacts. Anyone??

Start by doing a battery pull - while the device is on, remove the battery for 30 seconds, then reinsert it and wait for the device to reboot.  Does that help?
If it doesn't, ensure that the email folder isn't just hidden.  On the homepage, press the BB Menu button and select Show All (should show a little check mark).  See if you can find the email folder.

  • BlackBerry Curve 8530 Email Setup?

Okay, I just got my first BlackBerry and whereas I love it, I can't setup an email account. I've been searching the internet for more information but nothing seems to work. I tried getting a BIS account but its telling me that my phone isn't registered. (which it is, because I got a confirmation message) Furthermore I only have one email setup option: BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Can someone please help me with this?

Check you have a Blackberry Data Plan (specificically a Blackberry Internet Service Data Plan if you want to use BIS) with your carrier.
