Blackberry Curve Problems

I have a bb curve 8310. Recently it just froze on me. I bought new batteries, but it didnt solve it.. I charge it & everything, but still nothing. It only starts up to that loading page, & i really need to get my contacts out. How can I transfer them to my pc even though all i get is the loading screen on my phone?.

Hello brsinchick
Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forums
Please try to start your device on Safe Mode.If it allows you will be able to recover your contacts from the device.
KB17877  How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode.
If Safe Mode didn't work then you had to load your device OS and in that situation you will loss your data within the device. So try the Safe Mode and see if that helps.

  • Need to fix some blackberry curve problems!

Hey, guys! I am new to this forum and need to find some answer for my Blackberry phone.
I have a Blackberry curve that seems to have some problems. Every time I attempt to plunge it on my computer, a card error would pop out and asks to format it for using. But, I still have some photos and videos that have not been backed up timely. Are they still recoverable? Do I have to format it? Do you know any way for me to firstly copy off all these photos and videos?

1). Do not format your Blackberry phone before you’ve recovered all your stored photos and videos back. In your case, the formatting process may erase everything on your phone memory card and make your data gone permanently.
2). Never save anything new on this phone memory card in case that any new file would rewrite your original data.
3). Plunge this phone to your computer and download professional phone memory card data recovery program to get back all your lost data back.
In fact, as I know, there are many similar data recovery tools that can help rescue inaccessible data back form a “Not Formatted” phone memory card, especially some phone memory card data recovery freeware, such as 4 Card Recovery Freeware, Recuva and TestDisk, etc.
4). Format this phone after the successful data recovery process to see whether the card problem can be fixed.
5). Never forget to back up everything important at least on two cards or drives in the future.
    Good luck!

  • Blackberry curve problem

hi, as i am relatively new to blackberry world i have encountered a problem recently that is really annoying.  firstly my 's' key stopped working or would work erratically, then if i left my phone alone for about 30 seconds it would lock the keyboard and the only way that i could get back to texting or anything was to press the mute button to unlock, and now this morning nothing is working.  no buttons at all.  please somebody help

It sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage.
Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out. It really is more common than you think.
    1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
    2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)
    3. DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = disaster).
    4. If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.
Suggestions on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place (open, with the battery out):
*Place the BB in a container of dry UNcooked rice, and then you might also place it in any of the locations mentioned below.
*On top of any dry heat emitting electronic component: TV cabinet or CRT, LCD, cable TV/Satellite converter box or plasma monitor
*On the dashboard of your car on a sunny day

  • Multiple recurring blackberry curve problems

Sometimes when I'm doing anything - could be writing a text, could be online, anything - it suddenly freezes and a little black box pops up in the centre of the screen loading the page. Sometimes I've just got to leave it for ages, usually have to close whatever I'm doing.
Also, I can't access some texts. I can only see the last three texts in a conversation. It's important that I get to see the rest of the conversation, but whenever I scroll up it freezes and I have to back out and go in again, and it freezes again.
    Any help?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
There's pretty much no diagnosing those -- they are the equivalent of the random errors in Windows for which tracing the root cause is fruitless. Basically, these are the last out in the programming code -- some event occurred for which there is no handler in the code. The fix is a code update that handles the event...but, again, knowing what the event is is pretty much impossible. So, there are a few things to try:
Sometimes, the code simply becomes corrupt and needs to be refreshed -- just like a reboot:
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
If it won't boot up cleanly, then you may need to try Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in safe mode
There might be an updated code set from the carrier -- check them via this portal:
     http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
The toughest possible cause is a badly behaving app. To find it, there are a couple of options. One is to see if you can read the log file:
Go to the home screen. Hold down the "alt" key and type 'lglg'. (You will not see anything while you type). This will bring up the log file. Scroll down (probably many pages) untill you see a line that says 'uncaught execption'. Click on this line. The name of the app will be in the info. Alternative methods for bringing up the logs are in this KB:
KB05349How to enable, access, and extract the event logs on a BlackBerry smartphone
The other method is to remove apps one at a time, waiting a while in between (I usually recommend a week), until the problem ceases...thereby discovering the offending app. Still another method is to reload the BB OS cleanly, leaving some time between adding other apps onto the BB so as to be able to determine exactly which one is the cause.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Many Recurring Problems w. new Blackberry Curve - 3 new phones in 2 months

I got the new blackberry Curve on Jan 1, 12 and right away started experiencing problems with the texting (as I have seen many on here having the same issue as well) - I am unable to scroll through texts. Switching it to "stripes" and not "bubbles" does not help. Pulling the battery doesn't even help anymore. I've had the phone exchanged twice already and each time, have had the same issue.
The other problem is that my internet consistently freezes on me - pulling the battery will only help for me to load the internet page fully once, then immediately stops loading after that. This is beyond frustrating and I don't see the point in exchanging the phone over and over again when clearly it is an issue with the curve itself. Please help! I really cannot be pulling my battery 20 times a day to perform the simplest  of tasks.

    Clarification to the above:
Running chmod on a given mbox file didn't help Mail import it. It still imported a folder that's empty and that would disappear after quitting and restarting Mail.
    New mystery involving Smart folders:
Mail was able to download mail that was on my POP server (since September). I defined a few smart folders (to identify mail from given senders). These Smart folders see some of the messages from my backup. If I try to click on one of those old backed-up messages, it says that the message "has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it." But I don't have an IMAP account. Does this tantalising hint suggest that Mail sort-of sees my messages, and if it sort-of sees them, can we make Mail really see them?

  • TWO PROBLEMS:( BLACKBERRY CURVE 9300) 1) Unable to send/receive e-mails 2) black square with a minute hand whizzing round

    Hello,
    I have a BLACKBERRY CURVE 9300
i would be most grateful if someone could help me with persistent problems, which ive previously enlisted the help of T-mobile to resolve but to no avail.
    1) I am unable to send/ receive e-mails, this has been an ongoing problem which seems to sort itself out for a short while then returns, i have been asked  to remove e-mail accounts from device and re-boot, and as i say works for a short time then starts again.
    2) I have this annoying black square in the middle of the screen with like a second hand whizzing round which can sometimes last ages. I was told by t-mobile this was due to not doing regular device updates, i have since done this and as i type continue to see this symbol.
Any advice/suggestions would be gratefully received.
    Thankyou.
    Andrew Goodall

The spinning clock is usually an indicator of low memory. Make sure you are completely closing apps your aren't using by using the close or exit option in the menu instead of just backing out of the app with the escape key. Also check your memory after you have rebooted your device. If it is still low then you may have to delete apps you absolutely don't need or use to get memory back.
As for the email issue I am assuming you have a data plan since you have tried to fix the problem with Tmobile. If you haven't done so you may have to re-register your phone on the network and or log into Tmobile's BIS site to resend your service books.

And I get a incoming calls with out any problem, when I get a incoming cal GSM is changing to EDGE and then I can make a outgoing cal..In order to make a out going cal from my mobile I should receive a incoming cal first to change GSM to EDGE. And some times edge changes to SOS and no network is activated. Please solve my problem.

  • Problems with Blackberry Curve GPS

I am having problems with the GPS feature on my Blackberry Curve. Whenever I start the GPS function on Maps, all it shows is "searching for satellites. Everything is set correctly and it still doesn't do anything. I do a battery pull, then it works fine for a little bit and after awhile, it crashes again.
I shouldn't have to do a battery pull every time I need to use this feature. Anyone have any tips on how to correct this?

When having issues with the Vz Navigator on your Blackberry, you may need to check the application settings. Listed below are steps to ensure  your settings are correct.
    Device Software Version 5.x
From the Home screen, press the Menu button.
    Select Options.
    Select Advanced Options.
    Select GPS.
Select the current setting in the GPS Data Source field.
    Select Device GPS.
Select the current setting in the GPS Services field.
Select one of the following settings:
    Location On
    GPS enabled
    E911 Only
    GPS disabled
Select the current setting in the Location Aiding field.
Select one of the following settings:
    Enabled
    Disabled
    Disabled While Roaming
Press the Menu button then select Save.
Additionally, you may want to update the vz navigator application on your device. I have listed steps below.
From the VZ Navigator home screen, press the Menu button.
If presented with the Update screen, proceed to step 5.
    Select Preferences
    Select Advanced.
    Select Check for Updates.
    Select Accept.
Select Click Here to Download VZ Navigator.
Ensure Set Application Permissions is checked then select Download.
Ensure all permissions are set to Allow, press the Menu button then select Save.
If presented, select Yes / Replace.
    If presented, select OK.
If presented, select Reboot Now / Reboot Later.
The installed application cannot be accessed until the device has rebooted.
Lastly, updating your phone to the network is also recommended once a month. This is called a PRL update and I have listed the steps below:
    To update the PRL:
Power on the phone within the Verizon wireless coverage area.
Dial *228 then press SEND (this call is airtime free and may take up to 2 minutes).
When prompted, press 2 for the option to update the PRL.
Once completed, a confirmation message will appear to informing that the phone has been re-programmed with the new PRL.
Press End to terminate the call.
Power cycle the phone to complete the update.

  • Blackberry Curve 8520 MMS problem

    Hello!
Is anyone out there having this problem with a Blackberry Curve 8520?
    My carrier is T-Mobile
    Unlimited TEXT MESSAGING and MMS.
We upgraded to 2 Blackberry curve 8520 and had old MOTOROLA RAZR phone before.
With the Motorola and UNLIMITED TEXT MESSAGING with MMS, we were able to send pictures to other people via MMS. After upgrading to the Blackberry Curve 8520, we can no longer send pictures via MMS. When sending a picture via MMS, it sits there with the CLOCK and gets an X after a while. I even called T-Mobile and Blackberry and they have opened up a ticket. We were able to send pictures with the Motorola phones without a DATA PLAN and just with the UNLIMITED TEXT MESSAGING and MMS. There's gotta be others out there with this problem. I don't believe it that Blackberry opened up a ticket and don't have a fix for it.
    Thank you!

This sounds like a provisioning issue on tmobile's end.
