Blackberry curve syncing issue error message KB19454

I have experienced this problem for some time now. It was syncing no problem and then one day this problem reared its ugly head. I read the few solutions offered elsewhere and here but none of them have helped me: I have rebooted my BB Curve several times and I also wiped the device a couple of times, and started off from scratch, but to no avail. HASSLE! Reinstalling apps and everything else.....It seems all the trouble started when I downloaded RIM's newly minted just for mac's Blackberry Desktop Manager. Wonderful. If a person could sync wirelessly (without having to purchase Missing Sync, and I see it has similar problems) perhaps I could get around this problem)
Actually, the recent error message is the most information I've gotten. Before I just got that that the device was not recognized. I tried gassing BB Desktop Manager altogether and going back to the Palm desktop, but now my Palm Desktop doesn't work either.
It's almost as if the cord is loose, so I tried a different cord, a different port, but that didn't do anything either. I really like the device, but perhaps a change is in order. A Palm Pre maybe? an iPhone that doesn't argue with my mac? So any other ideas

If you don't know where to find these two items, it will probably be a good idea for you to at least glance through the iPhone user guide.
The Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes is availlable where the other tabs for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes are located. With your iPhone connected to iTunes and available under Devices in the iTunes source list, select your iPhone under Devices in the iTunes source list to make the Info tab and all other tabs for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes available in the main iTunes window. This is where you make your selections for the various items to be synced or transferred to your iPhone.
Under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, deselect sync email accounts followed by selecting Apply. If you have already created and are accessing your MobileMe account on your iPhone, this does not need to be selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.

    Not sure how to resolve this, but after you have transferred the email account settings from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process which is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences, you don't need to keep this option selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences. This only needs to be done once and is a one way transfer process only - from your computer to your iPhone.

    I have tried shutting everything down. I have tried everything I can think of short of wiping the phone by hitting "Restore" and I really do not want to do that.

    I actually figured it out a while ago.
    Turns out it is not an issue with the iPhone or iTunes.
    By process of elimination I deduced it could be a permissions issue with the hard drive and/or folder that holds the contents of my Music Library.
    For example, if the "Sharing & Permissions" settings (found in the "Get Info" Window) are set to "Read Only" on the internal or external drive that contains your Music Library for iTunes then you can not write to the disk. Therefore, you do not have privelges to make changes to the internal or external drive and you get the error message when you try to sync with the information on that drive.
    Here's the kicker and million dollar questions:
    How did the "Sharing & Permissions" settings get changed on my Hard Drive without me doing it?
    Why did my iPhone sync fine yesterday and suddenly today the Hard Drive is doing this?
    I have to set all priveleges to all drives to "Read & Write" and that just doesn't seem very secure to me.

    Error 1 or -1
    This may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
    The" may need service' meand there is a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

    Before I started to resync calendars one by one as suggested in the troubleshooting article, I remembered something that came up in a sync when I first attempted :  a 'which one do you want to keep' message about a repeating calendar event, which came up with three options, one from Calendar, and two from iCal on the phone.  I deleted that event, then went through the calendar resync one by one, and all seems OK now.
    In Music there is a way to find 'ghost' items that show up as grayed-out on the menus, so that you can try to reassociate or delete them.  It would be nice to have a similar way to work with Calendar!

    Did you do the Super Duper clone before you tried to reinstall the OS? If so, the original install disc is likely earlier than 10.4.11, and that may be why you are getting the message.
    When trying to reinstall the OS, did you select the "Archive and Install" option? If not, you might try that. Here's a link that might help:

    If you get an error that says can't backup, try moving the existing backup file to a safe location and thry again. again. You can find the location of the backup file here:

    Please somebody help me!! I have been trying for the past 3 hours to sync my address book with my mac. All I want to do is save my contact information so I can then sync them with my new apple iPhone 4 as I am getting rid of this annoying blackberry curve!!
    My calendar sync worked without problem but I am going crazy with this error message.

    For your first issue, I cannot tell if you've yet worked through the referenced KB...if not, you can find it here.
    For your second issue, I'm unsure...but perhaps this will help:
    Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

  • New HD Multi Room DVR Issues (AV Syncing & DVR Error Message)

    I recently upgraded our Multi Room DVR to the new HD compatible box.  To date, we have had no problems with our Samsung which is hooked up to the primary DVR in our Family Room, the issue is with our 20" LG in the bedroom, which is hooked up to the new box.
    The issues are:
    1.  Audio/Video Syncing -  After watching a live program for a while the AV syncing becomes an issue.  I find this mainly on HD channels, but it will also happen on the non HD channels as well.
    2.  'No DVR Signal' - When watching a recorded HD program on the new box, we have gotten the a communication error message toward the end of the show.  The only choice that the message gives us is to select OK, which stops the recording and takes us back to the main playback menu.  When we try and fast forward to the part of the show where we got the message, the picture freezes and we can not watch any longer.
    I have talked with Verizon and, initially, I thought that it was an issue with the activation since it happened the first night that we got the box, however, it has now happened twice in the same week.
    I will say that we did not have this issue with the standard STB Multi Room DVR, it worked fine.

    1) I have not seen or heard about this issue yet.
    2) This is a knows issue and they have a fix that will be rolled out on image 1.7 on the STB. And that should be out in the next few weeks. 
     Hey Thanks Tim for the update. The "Unable to Locate Hub" nag is really getting me. If Verizon fixes that issue I would be able to live with the other issues. I love the service except for the nag. It's a real killer to try and watch a show and the nag comes up.
