Blackberry desktop software 6.02 and GPO

Hello. I want to deploy the software to many computers, using windows
active directory group policy. To do this I need an .msi file for
installation and not an .exe file.
Is it possible to download an .msi file?
Regards,

Hey casuar_gr,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
You can use winzip or winrar to extract the MSI file from the executable file from BlackBerry Desktop Software.

  • BLACKBERRY DESKTOP SOFTWARE and OSX Lion

    Dear all
I have a new MacPro with latest OS XLion and after installed blackberry desktop software all system started go very slowly.
I called Apple support and  they told me that BB has not any update that works with new OS X Lion system and installing and sync with BB software is not suggested
Since this is an important issues as  I'm using BB for professional work I'll need to have such synchronization possible. How can I?
Thank you for your prompt help
    Regards

Well, to me, it doesn't seem correct that BB is not compatible with Lion !?
I am using at the moment of writing this message the latest BB desktop software on my MB Pro 15 "mid-2010" and os X Lion without ANY problem of speed.
Just had an issue with the transition to iCloud (as many other people) obliging me to "repatriate" manually all my calendar and contact files!
For the rest, everything runs smoothly on my MAC
Just check that you really have the latest version of the software through the update menu command.
Really?  Here is the article from Blackberry: - Just talked to them AGAIN and the answer is that yes I will be in a continuos loop with over 25% of my entries changing every other time I synch.  Stupid
Syncing calendar events from the BlackBerry smartphone using BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac causes multiple modifications to existing events
    Article ID: KB25147
    Product(s) Affected:
    BlackBerry® Desktop Software (Mac OS)
    Overview
When a sync is carried out with BlackBerry® Desktop Software for Mac and both the BlackBerry® smartphone and the calendar program on the Mac contain the same appointments or a large number of the same appointments the Mac sync alert appears showing modifications to those appointments already in the calendar on the Mac.
    BlackBerryDesktop Software (Mac OS)
    Mac OS
The issue occurs because appointments on the BlackBerry smartphone are categorized as 'public' or 'private'. The appointments by default are 'public' and a checkbox within the appointment details allows a user to mark it as private.Cause
As an example, iCal appointments do not have this categorization so when the sync takes places the BlackBerry smartphone data has this extra field being pushed and whilst iCal cannot display this data, the truth database in the Mac itself can store that information. This means that the data stored in the Mac truth table has this field added to its stored data.
The software is working as designed. Those modifications should be accepted.Resolution------
SOOOOOO - you accept and then synch - no problem.  Close computer - open again - try to synch and get exact same message.  Iphone is the answer.

  • Blackberry desktop software shows erro while updating

can anyone help me .. I really need help im struggling since 4 months my blackberry desktop software is not updating my device when I want to do software update it shows error that " an error occurred while downloading blackberry desktop software. please try again"

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
For some reason, the "automatic" method is failing...consequently, you need to take control and override the automatic method. The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

    Hello,
Please check carefully these instructions, most importantly the part about deleting VENDOR.XML file(s).
    1) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    2) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?lid=us:bboftwareesktopSoftware&lpos=us:bboftware
    3) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    4) If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    Now, use this process:
KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
    freexrythem wrote:
"There is no  BlackBerry® Software available."
Most often, that message is the result of one (or more) of the following:
There is no BB OS package installed to the PC, and there is nothing available from the carrier (as represented by the VendorID hardcoded into the device)
There is a BB OS package installed to the PC, but it is from a different (per VendorID) carrier, and the VENDOR.XML file(s) have not been deleted (which causes the installed package to be ignored)
There is more than one BB OS package installed to the PC...which can confuse the Loader tool
    Good luck!

  • Blackberry Desktop Software slows down Network Connectivity on Win 7 start up

    Hi,
I am new so be gently..lol
I am running windows 7 64bit Home Premium. I recently noticed that on start up my PC was taking between 10 and 20 seconds to set up it's network connectivity, which previously was almost instant. There were no erros within the event logs to suggest why this was occuring. The last thing installed was the blackberry desktop manager. I uninstalled this, and found that my network connectivity was now occuring almost instantly again.
Is this a know issue with this software? I have searched the forum but cannot find anything simliar, only people saying it was slowing down start up as a whole which is not what is happening to me.
Thanks for any help or advice in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Typically, if you have installed the RIM DTM software to auto-start every time you boot your PC, the boot time will increase. Personally, I've found no reason to allow DTM to auto-start...I only launch it when I need it.
To perform a full clean uninstall, see this KB:

  • Blackberry Desktop Software has encountered a problem and needs to close

When I try to open Blackberry Desktop the message I get is that Blackberry Desktop Software has encountered a problem and needs to close.  I have a Blackberry Bold 9700 and as a result I cannot sync.  Does this mean I need to uninstall and reinstall?  If I reinstall will I lose the update that I have on my phone that has changed the interface?  Will I have to reinstall that as well?
Thanks for any help or advice you can give me.

    I suggest this thread:

It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
Also, for XP users, please be sure you are on SP3...that is the current minimum level required with the latest Desktop Software.

  • Windows XP gives message "BlackBerry Desktop Software has encountered a problem and needs to close." when trying to start Desktop Manager

I apologize if this issue has already been handled in others' posts; I just can't locate my specific issue, and I'm a newbie with this.
I first encountered the Windows crash shown in subject yesterday when trying to sync my Blackberry. Message is displayed after the program churns for awhile, but hasn't even detected a remote device or shown that it is doing any work.
I vaguely recall agreeing to an update a few days back.  Perhaps Windows has updated recently as well?
I have uninstalled and installed most recent Desktop version several times, rebooting in between.  I have tried installing original version as well - Desktop at least starts then, but bombs before syncing anything.  I also have rolled back my Windows system to before last Windows update.
Here is the error message that I believe is associated with this problem:

Bold 9650 running on Windows XP
I finally solved my problem with blackberry desktop manager 6.0.1 by going bck to 6.0 version and here is how I did it, since the 6.0 version is not available on blackberry's website or on a disk and I have spent over 30 hours with BB tech support all to no avail in fixing 6.0.1 and enabling it to open.
    1) Removed any Blackberry desktop software from my computer via the  add/remove program in the control panel.  No need to deal with a clean uninstall in terms of registry cleaner, etc.
    2) Installed 6.0 which i was lucky enough to have backed up the intallation files from several months ago when I backed up my entire system to an external drive.
    3) Opened BB desktop mananager and connected my device and configured my sysn with outlook and all worked out.
If anyone needs BB Desktop Manager 6.0 to go back to a version that once worked for you, please let me know and I will email it to you via yousendit.com since it is a 95mb file.

  • Error when trying to configure sync between Outlook 2003 and Blackberry Desktop Software 4.6

I am unable to configure the Blackberry Desktop Software (version 4.6) to sync with my Outlook 2003.  I used to have an older version of the desktop software and it worked just fine.  I got a new phone and updated the software and am unable to configure the sync.  I get the following message when I try to configure it: "Runtime Error: folder is no longer part of the system data source or the folder could not be found."

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Also check on conflicting software...it has been reported that the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja can cause a conflict; removing them and reinstalling the BB desktop software allows it to install correctly.
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these. Also apologies if any are not presently available...RIM takes them up and down at will as they revise things.
    Hopefully something there is helpful!

  • Blackberry Desktop Software (Roxio, specifically) causes network problems and blue screens.

I'm posting this note because I just solved my network issue/crash problems. I started experiencing lots of disconnects and page not found on my office computer over the past few days. Only thing I could think of that was different lately was that I installed the Blackberry Desktop Software. Then a huge lightbulb went on over my head. I remembered when it was installing, it said it was installing "Roxio" software and at that moment shivers went down my spine from past experiences.
Well, I have lots of good "bad" experiences with Roxio CD software which had caused these same problems on two of my home computers. It caused blue screens when used in conjunction with my wireless Netgear card and also standard network card. The same symptoms including very slow internet access, general machine sluggishness, etc. I was trying to chase this down for months til I finally removed the Roxio crapware and ALL problems went away. No more slow machine, no more page not found and no more blue screens on two of my computers. Now, on a completely different Toshiba work laptop and different network adaptor, same problems.
So, here we are again with Roxio as part of Blackberry Desktop software. I like my new Blackberrry 8830, but I have to pass this along to the Blackberry folks because I KNOW I'M RIGHT about this. I only installed the software so that I could type my contacts into Outlook and then download to my Blackberry. So, after realizing the common symptoms and after having completed my download (which worked great by the way), I removed the Blackberry Desktop Software and I'm back to speedy everything, no more pages not found, no more putty disconnects, and no more blue screens.
I hope someone gets good use of this post because this drove me crazy the first time around.
    -- Jeff

    We had the same problem.
We did extensive troubleshooting, and found the problem was effecting our new HP Windows XP .Laptops.
We did not have any trouble with the Older Dell Latitude we have.
We found the BSOD still happened after removing the Black Berry Desktop Manager Software.
We traced it to a memroy / resource leak in the USB subsystem.
The workaround we found is to go into the Device manager, and remove all the drivers from the USB section.
** Disclaimer :  This works for us, but may make your computer unusable.  Backup your data to external storage.
                   Back up your computer
Start -> control Panel -> system ->Hardware tab ->  Device manager.
Expand "Universal Serial Bus Controller"  at bottom of list.
Right click on each Item, and select "uninstall"
                    Don't reboot after each one.
                    * Remove ALL the entries under Universal Serial Bus Controllers *
Repeat until all the entries under  "Universe Serial Bus Controller" are removed
(there may be one that sticks, thats ok. so long as it has been uninstalled.
                Reboot.
The OS will rebuild the USB stack and drivers to default.
This has worked for us so far.
We are not sure if this wont break something else.

  • Efforts to use, repair, and uninstall Blackberry desktop software failed. Help?

I upgraded from XP to Windows 7, and had to reinstall the Blackberry Desktop software.  I'm looking for help to get it working.  I've installed version 6.0. i'm on Curve 8330 (Verizon).  Below describes mt efforts:
When I run the desktop software, I click "organizer', and then I connect the BB and wait unti the bottom right of the BB desktop software says "connecting...' then "sync".  i then click the "configure settings..." and get a pop-up window titled "blackberry data synchronization" with message "operation in progress.  please wait".  The pop-up window self-disappears. It reappears every time I click the "configure settings..." button.  However, this has run for hours.  The software appears to be stuck in some sort of infinite loop.
So, I tried to repair the software as follows: Start - Control panel - programs and features - blackberry desktop software 6.0 - Next - Next (Repair is checked) - Install.   I get a window titled "blackverry desktop software 6.0" that reads "The feature you are trying to use is on a netword resource that is unavailable.  Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate parth to a folder containint the installation package 'blackverry desktop software.msi' in teh box below.  Use source: C:\Users\Jim\AppData\Local\Temp\WZSE0.TMP\
.  I clock ok and try agin and get the message "the path 'c:\users\myname\appdata\local\temp\wzse0.tmp\blackberry desktop software.msi' cannot be found.  verify that you have access to this location and try agin, or try to find the installation package 'blackberry desktop software.msi' in a folder from which you can install the product blackberry desktop software 6.0'  I am unable to find this file on my computer, but "windows search" has been less than 100% successful for me in Windows 7.  So, I clicked "cancel", and get the following message: "error 1706. No valid source could be found for product blackberry desktop software 6.0.  the windows installer cannot continue. So. I click "finish".
So, I try to uninstall the software altogether as followstart - Control panel - programs and features - blackberry desktop software 6.0 - Next - Next (REMOVE is checked) - Next ("Remove all user settings for Blackberry desktop software" is checked.) - Remove.  I then get the following message: "error 1316.  A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file c:\windows\installer\blackberry desktop software.msi".  When I click "ok" to this window - I see "rolling back action" status bar. I then click "finish".
So,my efforts to use the software, repair the software, and uninstall the software have failed.  Any advice?
I see no "blackberry desktop software.msi" in the c:\windows\installer\ folder.  I am able to view hidden files in Windows Explorer (Tools  Folder options... - View tab - "show hidden files, folders, and driver" is selected".
I'll restart my windows search index tonight.

    Thank you Viciousferret,
I re-downloaded the the 600_b047_multilanguage.exe to my PC using thelink you provided.  I then ran it.  I then did the following:
    selected "NExt",
then "REMOVE" (the options were "repair" and "remove", not "modify" or "uninstall"), then NEXT,
then checked "remove all user settings for blackberry desktop software".  then NEXT
    then the REMOVE button
    then FINISH
So, it appears the uninstall was successful.
The next step of your suggestion was to: "Then proceed with the clean uninstall by performing all the steps: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206"  This link provides 5 tasks.
    1) The first task includes instructions to ": Uninstall BlackBerry Desktop Software".  Should I skip this step because I already did it above?  If not, would you please provide the instructions for Windows 7?  Only instructions for other operating systems are shown here.
    2) The second task is to "remove computer registry entries".  The fifth step gives instructions for XP, Vista and 7 64-bit.  i use Windows 7 (32-bit).  Are you able to provide the instructions for Windows 7?  Also, the instructions to back up the registry are: "select My Computer (or Computer in Windows Vista) at the top of the folder structure, click File, and choose Export to export the file to your preferred location.'.  When i select start then Computer and then click File (after verifying the "Computer" is highlighted in theWindows Explorer window, I am not presetned with an opportunity to click "Export'.  My options are 'add a network location", 'create shortcut (greyed out), "delete", "rename", "properties" and "close".  Are you able to provide additional guidance as to how i am failing see "export" when i seemingly follow these instructions?
    3) Step 3 gives instructions for deletig folders from teh computer.  It also lacks instructions for Windows 7.  Are you able to provide them?
    4) Step 4 provides a link to follow.  that link also lacks instructions for Windows 7 (32-bit).  Would you be able to provide instructions for Windows 7 (32-bit) users?

  • GPO Deployement of Blackberry Desktop Software 6.1 fail with the following error: user cancelled installation

    Hello everybody,
I get an issue when i try to deploy the latest version of Blackberry Desktop Software using a Group Policy Objetc.
The package tries to install a the computer's startup but i can't find the product installed.
On the event viewer and after a rsop.msc i get the following error: User cancelled installation
I worked threw this link http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Unable-to-install-Blackberry-Desktop-... and i installed vcredist_x86 and msxml6 on the client computer but the problem is still the same.
Could anyone help me for this issue.
Over simple way to solve my problem would be to let me know where i can download an older version of Blackberry Desktop Software because there is a link on the website but it doesn't work.

    Well folks. I've had enough.
The 9780 is a great phone, it's easy to use, practical and dependable. However, the Desktop Manager software has been giving me too many sleepless nights. On two occassions I must add: once at the end of last year when I bought it and only managed to solve it by myself after 4 weeks of trawling through online forums, blogs and other BB help sites and the recent one was last week when I tried to install it on my new Windows 7 notebook.
I know this is not entirely the fault of RIM, Microsoft also has a part to play. But considering the state of technology these days, it shouldn't have to be so difficult. I want a phone and software that makes my life easier and not have to be a slave to it by trying days and nights to solve its problems.
Hence, I have officially decom my phone and gotten an iPhone 4 instead. The switch ain't that difficult for me as I have always been platform neutral. As long it fits my needs, does it job well and doesn't give me too much headache, I'm cool with it.
    Ciao folks!

  • Apparently Sync Manager is turned off for syncing my contacts and calendar to using Blackberry Desktop Software - how can I switch it ON?

I upgraded to Mac OS 10.9 a few months ago.
Up till then I was happily able to sync mac Contacts and Calendar to my Blackberry Curve 9320 via Blackberry's Desktop Manager (for Mac).
Since upgrading the software tells me to that Mac Sync Manager is turned off.  I know it isn't because everything else is syncing.
When I hunt through your support I find that there are solutions for this problem for other Mac OS versions but not for Maverick, so please tell me how I can once again use my business phone happily as I did before upgrading!
    Many thanks
    Janet

BlackBerry Desktop Software utilizes Apple's SyncServices technology in order to synchronize Contact, Calendar, Notes, and Tasks information to and from the Mac computer.
BlackBerry Desktop Software synchronizes information with the SyncServices database, which is synchronized with the desktop applications on the Mac computer (for example: Apple Address Book, iCal, Apple Mail, Microsoft Outlook for Mac). BlackBerry Desktop Software does not synchronize directly to or from the desktop applications on the Mac computer.
Mac OS X Mavericks v10.9 and later does not use SyncServices, therefore, it is not possible to synchronize Contact or Calendar information using the BlackBerry Desktop Software on these versions of OS X.
For more information on SyncServices and OS X Mavericks, see the following Apple Support article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5847
Note: BlackBerry Desktop software 2.4 is still supported for use with Mac OS X v10.6, 10.7, and 10.8.
