Blackberry Desktop software destination folder issue

My company has created a personal profile on my laptop.  They have a preset limit as to the size of that profile.  When that profile size has been exceeded, I can neither shut down or log off my computer until I go in and delete enough files to get below the limit.
One of the folders in that profile is C:/documents and settings/rangel/Application Data (rangel in my profile name).
Well, when I install the Blackberry Desktop software on my machine, it automatically loads the software into Application Data without asking me where I want to save it.  Also, every time I connect my phone to sync, a file called Loader Cache is created and causes me to exceed my profile space.
I've already gone into the desktop software and changed the folder destination for my Backup and Organizer data, but it won't allow me to change the destination folder for anything else.
I can't just go into Windows Explorer and "cut and paste" these folders because the software won't find them the next time I connect my phone.  I don't know enough about the folders to just delete them and what issues deleting them causes.  Unfortunately, however, I really have no other choice.  I have to go in and manually delete the folders and then the next time I connect my phone, my profile space is exceeded again.
Does anyone know of a way that I can change the destination folder for my desktop software files (other than Backup and Oranizer data)???
Thanks!

Any other recommendations for where I might be able to get some help??

  • Blackberry Desktop Software only synchronizes with folder Outlook in Microsoft Outlook

Blackberry Desktop Software only synchronizes with folder Outlook in Microsoft Outlook.  But, folders (.PST files) may be renamed and there may be multiple such folders open in Outlook at any time.  I have six, none of which is named Outlook.  Two of those are archival and four are associated and named for email addresses. The Desktop software should list the pst files checkboxes to indicate whether synchronization should be performed with them.

Well I believe I have figured out the answer to my own question, I ended up having to do a repair installation for Office 2010 and I was able to sync from outlook to the Blackberry.

  • Blackberry desktop software 6.0 icon issue

I had successfully installed the Blackberry desktop software 6.0 on my work computer. It was working beautifully, until suddenly a few weeks ago it just stopped working. I uninstalled and reinstalled the desktop software. Yet when I click on the shortcut, it keeps coming up with this message: "Blackberry Desktop software has stopped working." It is so frustrating as no one seems to know what the problem is. Can someone help me?

    Hey Renatas
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
I'd like to provide some assistance and have a few questions
Does the Desktop Software open when the device is not connected?
Is this only happening from the short cut and have you tried opening the software from start menu >  all programs > BlackBerry?

  • BlackBerry Desktop Software Installation issue

    Hi All,
I have tried to Upgrade BlackBerry Desktop Manager from 3.6 to 4.7 version, and it is successfully upgrade to BlackBerry version 4.7. But the issue is, it shows both version in Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs.
Note: After installation rebooted the PC
    Example:
Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs --> Currently installed Programs
    BlackBerry Desktop Manager 3.6
    BlackBerry Desktop Software 4.7
Kindly some please advice. Thanks... Shiva

the shortcut startup is the thing that adds (or not) the shortcut in the Startup menu, but the Desktop Manager starting at Windows start is stored in the registry.
I didn't bother to do all that, there is a clear option when you install the desktop manager that asks for automatic startup & automatic upgrade. I don't remember at which point (it's a shame, because I installed it less than 3 weeks ago and have already forgotten ! not eating enough fish), but it's there.
besides, I believe you can untick the option later, maybe in the Device Manager that is next to the windows clock.

    Hello Tushar
If desktop software is not offering your desired language ( Hindi ) then you can try to Install an OS pack which offer this language . If you want to do that then follow those steps :
1.Download an OS pack having All Language  from here  Software from Redington (India) Limited
( Make sure you are downloading for the same device model )
    2. Now Double Click  on the file that you Downloaded to Install it on your PC
    3. Download and install the latest BlackBerry desktop software from here BlackBerry desktop software
Then using desktop software perform your full backup of your device.
4.Search your C: drive for Vendor.xml and delete them, there may be one or two vendor.xml ( On your Pc change your folders option to show hidden files/folders ) :
        C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
        C:\Users\Windows UserName\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
From here you have two options :
Once completed Open BlackBerry Desktop Software ( 7.1 ) > Select Applications. > In the Language and Input Support section, select the language to be added to the BlackBerry smartphone (a + will appear next to the language to install) > Click Apply.
    Or
Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. (For 64-bit Vista or Windows 7, the path will be C: > Program Files x86 > Common Files > Research In Motion > AppLoader) double click Loader.exe.  It will Install the OS on your BlackBerry .

  • Error when trying to configure sync between Outlook 2003 and Blackberry Desktop Software 4.6

I am unable to configure the Blackberry Desktop Software (version 4.6) to sync with my Outlook 2003.  I used to have an older version of the desktop software and it worked just fine.  I got a new phone and updated the software and am unable to configure the sync.  I get the following message when I try to configure it: "Runtime Error: folder is no longer part of the system data source or the folder could not be found."
Please help.  I need these to sync.

HI and Welcome to the Forums!
I suggest trying a clean DTM uninstall:

  • Can't install downloaded Blackberry Desktop software

I downloaded the latest version of the BB 8100 desktop software from the BB site to my computer. It unzips OK but when it starts to install it stops every time. Have exited every Windows program first.  Any ideas?

    Problem:
Similar but not the same as errors 2738 1607 encountered with installing blackberry desktop manager software, there is no error message here, simply the WinZip Self Extractor completes, then the Installshield Wizard opens and appears to be installing.  After several seconds, a BlackBerry window opens (BlackBerry Desktop Software - Installshield Wizard) with the message: "The wizard was interrupted before the BlackBerry Desktop Software could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.    Click Finish to exit the wizard.
    Solution(s)
Ok, saw this thread was un answered so I thought I would reply in case anyone out there has this issue too, it drove me mental for a week too.  (before you read on I am not responsible for any messed up computers, blackberries or anything at all! This  is a GUIDE that worked for me and not the law!) So, here we go… I tried many many things to fix this, I am on Vista home, berry 9700 bold 2, TELUS Mobility (doesn’t really matter), Blackberry handheld OS 5.0, Vista Desktop Manager 5.0.1. English without media manager/roxio w/Sp1 downloaded from blackberry. I tried just about everything you can imagine, know my way around computers reasonably well (or so my mom tells me haha) and uninstalled the previous version of desktop manager with REVO uninstaller etc...
Some of the other things I tried that did NOT work for me but MAY WORK for you are as follows, what ultimately worked for me was step C and all sub sections of, I might start there but I am writing this in order of things I tried.
Solution A) un/re registering vbscript.dll (in c:windows\system32) to no avail…click start, run cmd prompt (should open as admin),
    1. Start à Accessories à right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator. A Windows Elevation confirmation screen will pop up. Confirm the action OR alternatively just run CMD from Start àrun à cmd and it should run as admin
    2. The Command Administrator Prompt opens to something like the following- C:\Windows\system32>. If anything else change directory by typing this without quotes: “cd\windows\system32”
    1)     Now at the command prompt, which should be- C:\Windows\system32  unregister the vbscript.dll file from Windows by typing at the command prompt (without quotes) “regsvc32 /u vbscript32.dll” (This will un-register the VB Script dll with your computer. A confirmation window will appear after this)
    2)     Now we want to register it C:\Windows\system32 regsvr32 vbscript.dll (This registers VB Script with your computer -- a confirmation window will appear after this as well.)
    3)     Try rebooting and running your blackberry software install
Solution B) Everything on this site : This Blackbery Forum Post (great post, thanks! Hey, you might learn something here that will come in handy one day if it doesn’t help you now, I did)
Follow each step there, try rebooting and running your blackberry software install as indicated
Solution B.Longshot) If A and B don’t work, you can try a repair of vista using the recover cd (if you don’t have one go here: neoSmart (I downloaded and burned image with aShampoo dvd burning software, restart windows with DVD/CD in the drive, press F12 on boot (or whatever gets YOU into ‘setup’, not the BIOS, change boot first device to CD/DVD ROM. I used this and it works perfectly, just follow their directions on the site and pick the right version for your OS etc) be *VERY*CAREFUL to NOT wipe your drive and just do a REPAIR (can take an hour), again if you don’t know what you are doing, skip this one and move on.
What DID WORK for ME, is the following (SORRY FOR THE CAPS BUT THIS IS IMPORTANT *** DO NOT ASSUME THAT USING AN UNINSTALLER LIKE REVO WILL DO ALL OF THIS FOR YOU - THIS WAS MY MISTAKE from the beginning, 25 hours later I realized that YOU NEED TO DO THE UNINSTALL AND SOME MANUAL STEPS EVEN IF YOU SELECT THE MOST THOROUGH***)
This one, D, worked for me specifically:
Solution D) Uninstall the BlackBerry Desktop Software, preferably using REVO UNINSTALLER  go:  HERE to get Revo (CNET)
Use the Advanced uninstall option, thorough option, the last one down the list, this will notonly use blackberry’s built in uninstaller, but scan for remnants of the software on your drive and registry
When prompted select all and delete everything it finds, do not skip any steps, reboot, try re-installing the blackberry desktop software
You could try a similar type of uninstaller if you have one; however, I don’t recommend leaving it to using the control panel add/remove programs, I did not try this with that method
Solution D part 2) Once you have uninstalled and rebooted
    - Delete the Research In Motion Folders from the hard drive AND Registry
Browse to C:\program files\Research in Motion, delete this folder
    Click Start à Run.
Type Regedit, and then click OK. (Please be careful here, only do this if you have a good idea what you are doing, you can really mess things up here, go slow carefully please please please)
In Registry Editor, delete the Research In Motion folder located at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\
Delete the Research In Motion folder located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\   (This key will supposedly be missing if you are removing Desktop Manager version 4.0)
Reboot, reinstall the Blackberry Software, issue SHOULD HOPEFULLY be resolved!! So there you have it. I am 99% sure one of those things will get you back on your feet....good luck,
    Good luck
I can be reached at 6packs at live dot com if you spot an error I can fix, otherwise please post to the forums!

  • Blackberry desktop software modem help?

So here's the story: I formatted my laptop lost BDS, tried reinstalling but failed, eventually copied the whole blackberry desktop software folder from another pc to mine.
But that didn't fix my problem since it didn't detect my device so I ran over to blackberry's site and downloaded the usb and modem drivers. I installed them and yay it detects my phone (after I manually run blackberry device manager). Now the problem lies with the modem configuration (the whole reason why I got the desktop software in the first place) when I press the mobile internet button it takes me to the mobile internet settings but nothing happens, there is just a green circle loading icon to the right of the profile option. It doesn't do anything and I can't chose any settings I did wait for 20 mins but still nothing.
    Please help

    Hey CrimsonCloud,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
First thing I would suggest is performing a clean uninstall of BlackBerry® Desktop Software.  Follow all of the steps in this KB article: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206
Then restart your PC and go to www.blackberry.com/desktop to download the latest version of BlackBerry Desktop Software and install the software.  If you receive any errors, please let me know the exact error message.
Once installed, restart the PC and when the computer is up and running, connect your BlackBerry® Curve™ 9300 smartphone via USB and it should install drivers.
Once you get a notification saying the drivers are now installed, open BlackBerry Desktop Software and then try to setup your tethering.
Let me know if you have any mroe questions.
    Cheers.

  • Blackberry Desktop Software.msi missing

At startup, Blackberry Desktop software autoloads.. Windows Installer window pops up and says: “The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Enter an alternate path to folder containing the instruction package “Blackberry Desktop Software.msi.” in the box below: C:\users\ron\appdata\local\temp\WZSE1.tmp\1 Search says the msi file is not on computer. Attempt to uninstall Blackberry software interrupted…looking for same msi file to uninstall. Original install disk is V4.7 while installed version is 5.1..so can uninstall. Perhaps I goofed the install...perhaps Norton was a problem on download. Windows 7 OS.

What I did was disable the UAC in Windows Vista, reboot, install the Windows Install Cleanup Utility (MSICUU2.exe), use that program to yank out the old Blackberry Desktop Manager software, updated the Windows Installer version, rebooted, no more issues.  Just a side note, I had to run the cleanup utility twice on the Blackberry Desktop software to remove it, which was just a couple of extra clicks.  By the way, you have to download the MSICUU2.exe from a 3rd party site now.  Microsoft will no longer endorse the program.

  • Latest version of Blackberry Desktop software

I am trying to determine if version 4.3.0.15 (Aug. 15, 2007) is the latest version of the Blackberry Desktop software. I am running Vista and Outlook 2007 and cannot synchronize my mail between the Blackberry and Outlook. I am only able to update my calendar and contacts by doing a one-way sync from the destop to the Blackberry. Any suggestions? Thanks!

After reading though this thread again, it seems I misunderstood part of it, my apologies. I dont think it is a corrupt calendar as you can sync from pc to the bb with no issues. Perhaps simply deleting the intellisync folder would help. Try this KB and see how it works:
How to delete the Intellisync folder if synchronization is unsuccessful
It could also be an issue with your mail profile. You could create a new profile that points to your pst and set the desktop manager to sync with that. If deleting the intellisync folder doesn't do it for you, i can give you more detailed instructions on how to do this so please post the version of outlook you have and your version of windows.
    Cheers!

  • Blackberry Desktop Software has encountered a problem and needs to close

When I try to open Blackberry Desktop the message I get is that Blackberry Desktop Software has encountered a problem and needs to close.  I have a Blackberry Bold 9700 and as a result I cannot sync.  Does this mean I need to uninstall and reinstall?  If I reinstall will I lose the update that I have on my phone that has changed the interface?  Will I have to reinstall that as well?
Thanks for any help or advice you can give me.

    I suggest this thread:

It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
Also, for XP users, please be sure you are on SP3...that is the current minimum level required with the latest Desktop Software.
    Good luck!

  • Blackberry desktop software 7 is a waste of time - disappointing!!!

I wish I had not accepted the option to update my desptop software from v6 to v7. I have since been unable to synchronize and have been through the re-installation process several times without success. The software kept looking for 'Blackberry desktop software.msi' under c:\Windows\installer\ folder. I am now fed up!! What a waste of time, this is not good for business.
Can any tell me where I can get the most up-to-date version 6 from a BB site? I would like to revert back to a working software.

  • Blackberry Desktop Software V6.0.2

I just recently joined the RIM Blackberry family. I've installed the latest version of the Blackberry Desktop software, but am having trouble loading the program.
I get a Windows error report...
"BlackBerry Desktop Software has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Does anyone know what issues the program could be having? I've downloaded the program multiple times, re-installed, repaired, and tried to contact Blackberry. I'm incredibly frustrated. Anyone else having this issue, and possibly knows how to fix this?

OK I FIND SOLUTION FROM FIRST TIME. I was in January already registered under nick name HONGKONG
and here is solution what work first time. But now after DMupdate again DONT WORK.
I had all the same problems as everyone else on this thread, but it was just as simple as renaming Rim.Desktop.Services.PolicyManager.dll to Rim.Desktop.Services.PolicyManager.dll.old and then back to Rim.Desktop.Services.PolicyManager.dll it worked.
    The file is located in:
    C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Desktop\Modules\
I can only say RIM, I never buy again BB units. Bye [keep it courteous please].
