BlackBerry Desktop Software does not recognize my device

My problem is that when I plug my phone into my desktop computer by USB it will charge, but when I go to do anything to by means of BlackBerry Desktop Software the program does not recognize that my device is plugged in. This has been going on for months now that it will not sync, I just haven't desperately needed to sync my phone until now. I have tried pulling the battery and pulling the sim card. I have also tried other USB cords.

  • Blackberry Desktop SW does not recognize the device is plugged into the USB

Hi! Hope someone can help!  I have been syncing fine for years.  Then all of a sudden, my BB Desktop software says 'Connect Your Device".. but is is connected via the USB.  I click the link that says Troubleshoot your connection, and verified each one of the items.  I then uninstalled and reinstalled the BB Desktop Software, same issue.  The phone is charging fine and the sound is made each time I plug in and unplug the Bold 9900 to the USB to the computer.  I have tried all the differnt USB ports, and differnet cables.  I use WIndows 7 Professional, SP 1.
    Can anyone help??  Thank you!

    No. Never had this problem.
What kind of an adapter are you using?  Your Apple supplied charger is multivoltage. All you need is to use a plug that will allow the charger to fit into the UK plug.

  • Desktop software does not recognize phone

I have downloaded the latest desktop software, connected my Torch 9800 and successfully synced calendar, contacts etc. with Outlook.  When I connect the phone after that, the software does not recognize the phone and will progress to the sync function. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the desktop software, and the same problem happened again.  I have tried the connectivity solutions suggested by the software without any luck.  The computer is recognizing the phone, but the software is not.  Any ideas out there?

  • Desktop manager does not recognize my device

I am running Vista Ultimate 64-bit. No matter what I do, Desktop Mgr (v4.7) will not recognize my device. No device PIN# shows, only "USB" as a connection. I cannot reload my OS. I have a 507 "windows od death error".

Open DTM and connect your BB via USB cable, then in desktop go to options and click on detect and look what it has there, if everything is ok go to main menu DTM and click on sync then on to config sync settings, make sure all is correct there, failing that in options you can check you setting in connections and PIN# are entered there.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please review the System Requirements for the RIM Desktop Software:
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop/desktop-pc/system-requirements.html
As you see, with XP, SP3 has been required for quite some time...so none of the more recent Desktop Software versions will work for you. But, those System Requirements pages are kind of messed up right now (three tabs claiming to be for "6.0.1", but with different information on each).
If you cannot obtain SP3, then you will need to fall back to older and older versions of the Desktop Software until you find one that works under SP2. Old versions can be found here:

  • Desktop Software does not recognize Vista Desktop Software

My PC is running Windows Vista Home Premium. Blackberry is a Curve 8900 running OS 5.0.0.900. Desktop Software is v. 6.0.2.44 bundle 45. I recently wiped my PC and reinstalled everything, so this is a fresh install of Desktop Software. I use the Windows Vista native calendar, and am unable to get DS to recognize it. When I click on the organizer button (Select Organizer Data to Synchronize), the Calendar entry says "Not Installed". When I click "Configure Settings", I can choose Windows Vista Native Application as an option for the calendar, but on closing that window, the Calendar entry says "Not Installed" again. I know that I can sync my 8900 with the Vista calendar, as I was able to do it in the past. Not sure why it's not working now. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Latest Organizer update in the Blackberry Desktop Software does not sync Outlook 'all day events' in Calendar properly

    On my Blackberry Torch 9810:
When syncing with Microsoft Outlook 2007 for an 'all day event' in Calendar, Outlook stores the appointment as from 12:00am to 12:00am so Blackberry Organizer thinks it is an appointment for 2 days rather than one.
So for example if you make an 'all day event' entry for Feb 25 in Outlook, Blackberry Organizer syncs it on the device as an "all day event" on Feb 25 and Feb 26.  Very annoying indeed!
Technically Outlook should store it as 12:00am to 11:59pm for a one day
event.    But since they don't, I hope Blackberry will fix Desktop Organizer
Software to cope with this issue and send out a new update!
Does anyone know anything about this?

I was getting a similar problem... birthday and anniversary and some other all-day events (but not all!) in Outlook were being set to either 1pm-1pm or 2pm-to-2pm, from the day before to the day of the actual event.  e.g. my New Years Day event was being set as starting 31 Dec 1pm and ending 1 Jan 1pm.  The 2pm vs 1pm difference seemed to correlate to the times of the year without/with daylight savings.
Presumably I'm seeing 1pm or 2pm and not 12am-12am due to my own time zone (GMT +10).
I made the change recommended by Bifocals and it has fixed this problem.  However, I did need to -manually- go through and change all the events in Outlook back to be proper all day events - that did not happen automatically.
For those (like I was) wondering how to set the "the corresponding options on the Blackberry"... you open the Blackberry Calendar, then hit the application button, then scroll to Options then General Options.  The Start of Day and End of Day settings are what need to match Outlook.  FYI, I have a Bold 9000 and am using Outlook 2007.
I'm really hoping that when I next upgrade my Blackberry software that it retains this setting change.  I find it really annoying that some (or all?) other settings (e.g. Mobile Network: Data Services & While Roaming) are reset to defaults on every software upgrade, meaning I have to remember what I set and to go back and set them again after an upgrade.  Grrrrr.....

  • I bought an apple iPod 5th generation the other day and I cannot remember the unlock passcode. I have done the restore thing, but because I never set it up or synced it with iTunes, it does not recognize my device. It is disabled for one hour. Please help

I bought an apple iPod 5th generation the other day and I cannot remember the unlock passcode. I have done the restore thing, but because I never set it up or synced it with iTunes, it does not recognize my device. It is disabled for one hour. There's only a few things that could be my passcode, but because it disables for an hour, it is time consuming trying to figure it out. What do I do? I do not care about having to erase everything since it's new and there's nothing on it, but it was never synced with iTunes.

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • Blackberry Desktop Manager does not show Media Manager

First, let me say I am a NEW Blackberry user, my hubby and I both got new Blackberry Curves 8310 recently.
When I installed the disc that came with the phone, the Blackberry Desktop Manager does not have the "Media Manager" as one of the choices, as was shown on all of the booklets and tutorials. I even re-installed the program, thinking maybe it didn't download completely the first time, but it still comes up showing only these 4:
Synchronize, Backup & Restore, Application Loader, and Switch Device Wizard.......
All of the directions I've received show that I can easily add pictures and music simply by clicking on Media Manager, but it just isn't there.
Here is info about the installation disk that we received with our phones, supposedly the correct and latest versions . . ..
    Blackberry Desktop Manager
    version 4.3.0.17 (Nov.12 2007)
    Device Communications      Blackberry Device mgr....4.3.0.7
                                             BBDevMgr   ................4.0.0.1
                                             RIM USB Driver.............4.0.0.2
                                             RIM USB Serial Driver.......2.1.0.4
    Application Loader          Application Loader ..........4.3.0.13
                                         RIMProgram .....................1.0.0.35
Seriously, none of these really means a whole lot to me, I just want to click on something and have it work . . .  I did try to "upgrade" to a newer version, and I got the message that the version I had was the newer one, so now what?
I have memory cards inserted in the phone(s).
I will appreciate any help with this, I'm really frustrated. I figured out how to move files manually, but I don't understand why it isn't showing up as illustrated in the instruction manuals and online tutorials.

  • I could originally sync my iPad 3 to Mac pro but now it does not recognize the device.  It does on my MacBook however.

I could originally sync my iPad 3 on my Mac pro via iTunes.  Now the computer does not recognize the device and shows as "not charging" on the device screen.   It does still charge with the cord and will sync with my Mac book.  I have current iTunes software installed and running 10.6.8.  Any help would be appriciated.

Nope. iPads can only be synced with one iTunes library, and all content on the iPad would be erased if you tried to sync it with a different one.

  • "The BlackBerry Desktop Software cannot connect with this device." after repair

I download the Desktop Software for BlackBerry onto my Mac Book Pro for the first time.
After installing I connected my PlayBook. I get the message "The BlackBerry® Desktop Software cannot connect with this device."
The program suggested I repair the device software, so I did. After that I set it up and ran the updates.
When I plug it back in I get the exact same message.
    What should I do next?
co-founder of Diaree | BB Dev for PictureThis

I also cannot connect to my two playbooks using desktop manager on mac.
One of the two playbooks is now shipped back to rim for repair (see here http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-PlayBook/5MP-Playbook-Camera-Blackscreen-Errors-Ha... The issue of desktop manager not being able to connect to the playbook started with this playbook when the repair I was prompted to to stopped 1/4 way into it. Multiple retries did not make any difference.
Since then, I have tried connecting my other (functioning) playbook to the same mac but when I plug in usb cable I get the same "cannot connect" errmsg and prompted to "repair". I am definitely NOT going to "repair" this one. So I uninstalled the desktop manager and reinstalled it to see if it makes a difference. Unfortunately it did not and I get the same "cannot connect" errmsg.
If anyone has any suggestion how this issue can be resolved that would be great. I think something is stuck on the mac and is not getting wiped out when desktop manager is uninstalled. Thanks.
