Blackberry Desktop Software Failed to validate your blackberry device

Blackberry 8310 was running slow.  The people at the ATT store said I need to update the software.  Downloaded the newest version to the desktop and when I tried to upload it to the phone received the following message
"Blackberry Desktop Software Failed to validate your blackberry device update"
"Aborting install due to validation failure.  Some packages contained unsatisfied dependencies"
I am sure others have seen it.  What do I need to do.  Thanks  Mike

Glad to hear.  I just did this again last night, and I think I've isolated the specific program that causes the problem, but I can't be sure.
I think it's "Documents To Go".
People might try deleting just that one program first in Options > Applications > Add-Ons if they didn't want to delete everything else too.  It's worth a shot.

I have a Bold 9900 and using Blackberry Desktop Software on Mac.
How do I deal with this problem?
    Thank you.

I tried this method already. The problem is that there is no such thing as 'BlackBerryDesktop' but instead I just have 'BlackBerry'. And also, there are no 'Logs' either.

  • Apps won't install: BlackBerry Desktop Mgr failed to validate your BlackBerry device update

Just tried out the new Desktop Manager for Mac and it seems to blow up when trying to either install or uninstall applications.
    I get the following error:
BlackBerry® Desktop Manager failed to validate your BlackBerry® device update.
Validation failed because a module marked for add (net_rim_platform_resource__pt) is not available on local disk
Some users have reported success with uninstalling an app first, but no luck with me.
Anyone have any ideas on this?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I've had the same problem and I have figured it out...for me anyway.  Make sure you have the latest version of Blackberry Desktop Manager and obviously the lastest software for BlackBerry Torch also.  So, ths is what worked for me...
connect phone to computer and click on Applications (top right)
    click "Check for Updates"
click "Show Other Versions" (if there are no updates for phone)
    chose "BlackBerry 6.0  6.0.0.246 (Current Version-Reload)
    then select
Once this has reloaded and your device is restarted go back to Applications and add/delete (by checking or un-checking) what you want.
*Warning:  I had a fair amount of trouble with error messages or something having to be reset, but after going through all the red tape and turning my phone off and on again a couple times it worked!!
Hope this helps or at least gets you started.

  • Efforts to use, repair, and uninstall Blackberry desktop software failed. Help?

I upgraded from XP to Windows 7, and had to reinstall the Blackberry Desktop software.  I'm looking for help to get it working.  I've installed version 6.0. i'm on Curve 8330 (Verizon).  Below describes mt efforts:
When I run the desktop software, I click "organizer', and then I connect the BB and wait unti the bottom right of the BB desktop software says "connecting...' then "sync".  i then click the "configure settings..." and get a pop-up window titled "blackberry data synchronization" with message "operation in progress.  please wait".  The pop-up window self-disappears. It reappears every time I click the "configure settings..." button.  However, this has run for hours.  The software appears to be stuck in some sort of infinite loop.
So, I tried to repair the software as follows: Start - Control panel - programs and features - blackberry desktop software 6.0 - Next - Next (Repair is checked) - Install.   I get a window titled "blackverry desktop software 6.0" that reads "The feature you are trying to use is on a netword resource that is unavailable.  Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate parth to a folder containint the installation package 'blackverry desktop software.msi' in teh box below.  Use source: C:\Users\Jim\AppData\Local\Temp\WZSE0.TMP\
.  I clock ok and try agin and get the message "the path 'c:\users\myname\appdata\local\temp\wzse0.tmp\blackberry desktop software.msi' cannot be found.  verify that you have access to this location and try agin, or try to find the installation package 'blackberry desktop software.msi' in a folder from which you can install the product blackberry desktop software 6.0'  I am unable to find this file on my computer, but "windows search" has been less than 100% successful for me in Windows 7.  So, I clicked "cancel", and get the following message: "error 1706. No valid source could be found for product blackberry desktop software 6.0.  the windows installer cannot continue. So. I click "finish".
So, I try to uninstall the software altogether as followstart - Control panel - programs and features - blackberry desktop software 6.0 - Next - Next (REMOVE is checked) - Next ("Remove all user settings for Blackberry desktop software" is checked.) - Remove.  I then get the following message: "error 1316.  A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file c:\windows\installer\blackberry desktop software.msi".  When I click "ok" to this window - I see "rolling back action" status bar. I then click "finish".
So,my efforts to use the software, repair the software, and uninstall the software have failed.  Any advice?
I see no "blackberry desktop software.msi" in the c:\windows\installer\ folder.  I am able to view hidden files in Windows Explorer (Tools  Folder options... - View tab - "show hidden files, folders, and driver" is selected".
I'll restart my windows search index tonight.

    Thank you Viciousferret,
I re-downloaded the the 600_b047_multilanguage.exe to my PC using thelink you provided.  I then ran it.  I then did the following:
    selected "NExt",
then "REMOVE" (the options were "repair" and "remove", not "modify" or "uninstall"), then NEXT,
then checked "remove all user settings for blackberry desktop software".  then NEXT
    then the REMOVE button
    then FINISH
So, it appears the uninstall was successful.
The next step of your suggestion was to: "Then proceed with the clean uninstall by performing all the steps: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206"  This link provides 5 tasks.
    1) The first task includes instructions to ": Uninstall BlackBerry Desktop Software".  Should I skip this step because I already did it above?  If not, would you please provide the instructions for Windows 7?  Only instructions for other operating systems are shown here.
    2) The second task is to "remove computer registry entries".  The fifth step gives instructions for XP, Vista and 7 64-bit.  i use Windows 7 (32-bit).  Are you able to provide the instructions for Windows 7?  Also, the instructions to back up the registry are: "select My Computer (or Computer in Windows Vista) at the top of the folder structure, click File, and choose Export to export the file to your preferred location.'.  When i select start then Computer and then click File (after verifying the "Computer" is highlighted in theWindows Explorer window, I am not presetned with an opportunity to click "Export'.  My options are 'add a network location", 'create shortcut (greyed out), "delete", "rename", "properties" and "close".  Are you able to provide additional guidance as to how i am failing see "export" when i seemingly follow these instructions?
    3) Step 3 gives instructions for deletig folders from teh computer.  It also lacks instructions for Windows 7.  Are you able to provide them?
    4) Step 4 provides a link to follow.  that link also lacks instructions for Windows 7 (32-bit).  Would you be able to provide instructions for Windows 7 (32-bit) users?

  • Installation of Blackberry Desktop Software fails: looking for Blackberry 8310.msi file

I cannot successfully install and use any version of the Blackberry Desktop software.  The problem started when I tried to install the desktop software on my new computer from a file I downloaded and stored on an external hard drive that had been attached to my old computer.  The install/uninstall programs lists Blackberry desktop 4.2.2.  It appeared to install correctly, but when I try to use it,  I get a message saying the program is trying to use a network resource that is not available, and looks in a temp directory for this "Blackberry 8310.msi" file.  There is also a program listed as "Blackberry v4.2.2 for the 8310 series wireless handheld"  When I try to uninstall it, it looks for that same .msi file.
I'd like to be able to sync my calendar with my phone.
Does anyone know what I should do?  I followed the clean uninstall directions, and that didn't make a difference.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
I don't have the install at home so my answer will be approximate. when you get the .exe file, it is in fact a zip file with a small launcher that knows it has to unzip the stuff in your temp file.
What you need is a decompression tool to decompress without that launcher. You can install 7Zip that is quite good for those things.
You can also try WinZIP or winRAR or winACE but those are not free-of-charge.
     http://www.7-zip.org/
Once you have installed this tool, just open 7Zip and browse to the .exe file. click on it, there should be a button "Extract". Choose a folder (somewhere on your Desktop for example) and wait for the decompression to finish.

  • Blackberry Desktop software fails to update v7.1.0.42 (The lastest version)

    Hi,
I have been unable to update/upgrade my Blackberry destop software to the latest v.7.1.0.42. I have downloaded the installer from the official blackberry website. During installation, an error message pops up saying something about a missing .dll file, or what-not, and that the missing file is critical to the update. Thus, the installation process just rolls back.
Can someone, please, help with this challenge.
By the way, I use a Windows 7 laptop computer.

    Hello Glassroys,
To better assist you with this issue can you please provide the full error message you receive?

  • BlackBerry Desktop Software doesn't support the BlackBerry 10 OS

a feuniquely useful and unique to BB.w years ago I upgraded to a OS 10 device and owned for less than 24 hours before paying to get my OS7 bold 9930 back. Currently debating on getting a classic, but believe that OS10 still does not support BB desktop nor the BNA website.
These were two features that I used very often and that I found unique to BB and very useful.
How is OS10 supplanting these tools and services?
Why in the world are they not retroactively supported?

    Hello,
It is completely well documented what is required...here:
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop/overview.html?LID=us:bb:software:desktopsoftware&LPOS=us:b...
As you can see, BBLink and BBBlend exist for BB10, while the BB Desktop Software exists for legacy devices. BB10 and legacy devices are very very different...I can completely understand why they would need a totally new set of PC software for such a new and different device. It is what it is, and Blend provides a level of functionality never even dreamed of for legacy BBOS (well, maybe dreamed...but never delivered).

  • BlackBerry Desktop Software shuts down when connecting secondary device

    All,
I have a main and a secondary phone (used for local SIM when traveling abroad)
After I backup my main device I connect my secondary device to be able to "Restore" and have all my contacts sync on both, but alas, once the secondary device is trying to connect the Desktop Software just shuts down without giving any error
The Backup process itself works great
I use the same cable, same USB Port, both devices have a charged battery and work great on a day to day basis
    Main Device: BlackBerry 9900
    Secondary Device: BlackBerry 9870
    Desktop Software Version: 7.0.0.59 (May 16, 2012 Bundle 60)
Laptop OS: Windows XP Professional SP3
    Thanks

I'm not familiar with this particular package, but with similar packages from other carriers there's usually a setting that lets the program control your Network - it may only say Wi-Fi.
The BlackBerry drivers include a Dial-Up connection which is probably getting shut down by the software which kills Desktop Manager.
If you turn off that option, the problem should go away (reboot probably a good idea).

I could not install anything because of that error. So I choose to uninstalled languages except for english and the myspace app just to see what would happen. Everything was uninstalled perfectly, the installation of the trial app installed at the same time. No errors so far.

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Also check on conflicting software...it has been reported that the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja can cause a conflict; removing them and reinstalling the BB desktop software allows it to install correctly.
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these. Also apologies if any are not presently available...RIM takes them up and down at will as they revise things.
