Blackberry Desktop Software Not Accessible after Reinstall

I was having trouble syncing my Outlook calendar, so I took some advice from this forum to unistall and reinstall the Blackberry Desktop software V4.2.2 for my Blackberry Curve.  I did so and took it through Application loader, but now that nifty desktop software icon is gone from my desktop and I can't find a way to connect to sync at all.  How do I access the software to sync if I can't find the software on my computer at all?

If you check under Start | Programs, see if there's a BlackBerry folder listed. If so, look for Desktop Manager. If you find it you can right-click the icon and choose Send To | Desktop to recreate the shortcut that you had on your desktop before. You can also verify that it still is installed on your computer by going to Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs to see if the BlackBerry Desktop Software is listed.

  • Blackberry Desktop Software not recognize my device

    Hello, I speak from Brazil.
After update my Blackberry Desktop Software, it no longer recognizes my device, a Torch 9800. My windows is the Seven. How to fix this problem? Gratefull

Hi all.  I had the same problem and spent several hours on the phone with Blackberry Support.  Its a problem with the latest update.  Here is what fixed the problem:
Finally got it working again! Re-downloaded the desktop software (but when you start it up, make sure to uncheck the automatic update option). While that was downloading, I was instructed to go to microsoft.com and search for and download .NET Framework 3.5. Once you click to download that, there will be an offer to download 2 other items. One of which will be Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile (Web Installer). Click to download that too. Once they are finished downloading, run both files. .Net Framework 4 Client Profile will take longer and will ask you if you want to repair or remove. Choose repair. The repair took several minutes, but once it was done, I clicked "Finish", opened the BB Desktop Software, UNCHECKED THE AUTO UPDATE OPTION, and plugged in my phone. Once windows finished installing the drivers, Low and behold! The Desktop software recognized that the phone was connected! I hope this helps you resolve your issue as well. When it again offered me an update I clicked to update later (meaning never!). Best of luck to you.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Indeed, the Desktop Software does not work with BB10 devices. Instead, you need the LINK software...available here:

  • Blackberry Desktop Software not accepting password

I haven't knowingly changed my password for Blackberry Desktop Software, but it's not accepting it. I tried 9 times hoping to get the security question prompt but I didn't get it. I have only one more chance or it will wipe out my data. I don't have a data plan. I just use it as a phone, camera, etc.

It should be the same password used to access your device. Make sure you're not mixing up numbers and letters. Many people make the mistake of thinking they're typing numbers on the device only to be typing letters and while you think you're pushing 1 2 3 4 on the device keyboard you're really pushing the letters w e r s.

  • Blackberry Desktop Software not allowing me to import my contacts to PC

I followed all of the instructions perfectly but cant seem to import my contacts from my Curve 8520 to my computer using the blackberry software. There is an information bar that says there are settings on my device that are preventing syncronisation of some items and below that a link in blue - Turn Off Wireless sync - I have tried to click this link and follow the instructions but, my Curve does not even have the wireless sync option... somebody please help me!!!!!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
There could be two places on your BB that have wireless sync turned on, preventing the Desktop Sync from working. One is within the email configuration, and the other is within the options within the Contacts app.
However, if you indeed are using wireless sync for your contacts, then using a secondary desktop sync is actually unwise, isn't it? If you, for example, are syncing your contacts OTA against GMail, then you should be using the GMail interface to your contacts from your computer rather than trying to sync from the device to some computer PIM (e.g., Outlook).
Then again, not knowing your full situation, I'm only guessing...
    Good luck!

  • Not enough virtual memory to run applications after Blackberry Desktop software installation

    Hi,
I've an issue with Blackberry Desktop Software application, after installing it (versions 4.7) my laptops cannot open more applications after certain time, even you cannot open the Start menu or any other kind of window, it just shows a little box as it is trying to show the windows but does not have enough resources to complete the drawing; I have to close some windows to open another, I mean I can have opened only a certain numbers of applications.
I uninstalled the BBDS and I've the problem still, the only way to solve it, was formatting my laptop, after a time I though 5.0 version could has resolved this issue, so I installed it with my fresh laptop and happened the same behavior, in this moment the BBDS has uninstalled 3 months and the have problem yet.
I think the installation modify some windows registry that in some way disallow to free up memory, or does not inform to window there is enough memory ro tun another applications.
I noticed when increasing the Virtual memory I can have more applicationes opened but it is few.
    I really apreciate any suggestion,
    Thanks,
    Model: Lenovo T60
    RAM: 1GB RAM
Windows XP SP3 (it has latest available patches)
Virtual Memory configured from 1.5Gb to 3GB

the shortcut startup is the thing that adds (or not) the shortcut in the Startup menu, but the Desktop Manager starting at Windows start is stored in the registry.
I didn't bother to do all that, there is a clear option when you install the desktop manager that asks for automatic startup & automatic upgrade. I don't remember at which point (it's a shame, because I installed it less than 3 weeks ago and have already forgotten ! not eating enough fish), but it's there.
besides, I believe you can untick the option later, maybe in the Device Manager that is next to the windows clock.

  • "The BlackBerry Desktop Software cannot connect with this device." after repair

I download the Desktop Software for BlackBerry onto my Mac Book Pro for the first time.
After installing I connected my PlayBook. I get the message "The BlackBerry® Desktop Software cannot connect with this device."
The program suggested I repair the device software, so I did. After that I set it up and ran the updates.
When I plug it back in I get the exact same message.
    What should I do next?
co-founder of Diaree | BB Dev for PictureThis

I also cannot connect to my two playbooks using desktop manager on mac.
One of the two playbooks is now shipped back to rim for repair (see here http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-PlayBook/5MP-Playbook-Camera-Blackscreen-Errors-Ha... The issue of desktop manager not being able to connect to the playbook started with this playbook when the repair I was prompted to to stopped 1/4 way into it. Multiple retries did not make any difference.
Since then, I have tried connecting my other (functioning) playbook to the same mac but when I plug in usb cable I get the same "cannot connect" errmsg and prompted to "repair". I am definitely NOT going to "repair" this one. So I uninstalled the desktop manager and reinstalled it to see if it makes a difference. Unfortunately it did not and I get the same "cannot connect" errmsg.
If anyone has any suggestion how this issue can be resolved that would be great. I think something is stuck on the mac and is not getting wiped out when desktop manager is uninstalled. Thanks.

  • BlackBerry Desktop Software displays the error "Caught _com_error exception. Description(): (null): Error(): -2147319779 (0x8002801D). ErrorMessage(): Library not registered.:Source(): (null)." when attempting to synchronize organizer data

BlackBerry Desktop Software displays the error "Caught _com_error exception. Description(): (null): Error(): -2147319779 (0x8002801D). ErrorMessage(): Library not registered.ource(): (null)." when attempting to synchronize organizer data. Can someone help me with this?

Tried clean wipe and reinstall. Immediately after reinstall of DM, in setting up my 9900 "for the first time", I received the following error message...
"Either there is no default email client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please open Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."
I opened Outlook 2013 and checked that it was the default mail client. It was already.
After going in and clicking to confirm default email client, I was allowed to proceed to configure organizer sync settings. I configured memo only (one way from device). I then received the same error message that I was receiving (per my original post in the last message). I've previously tried configuring only one type of organizer sync and not one of them completed a successful sync, so it can't be a bad entry in the calendar or contacts. I also tried deleting CICAL entries for all of email addresses other than my primary one. No difference. Also, prior to setup and sync, I confirmed that my 9900 was not on wireless sync.
I was hoping that this was an old issue and I could use one of the old work-arounds, so if anyone has any ideas for something else to try, please let me know.
In the mean time, I  have to assume that it's something that's changed with Outlook 2013 (particularly given the new error message I reported above. I hope that someone at RIM is aware of these error messages and is working on a compatibility fix for Office 2013.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sheldon
