Blackberry Desktop wIll not install on Window 8

Question

I cannot get BB Desktop (710_b033_multilanguage) to install on my new Windows 8 laptop: The zipped file unzippes itself; askes for the preferred language; Installshield Wizard starts to run. Then I get the below message in a box called "WIndows Installer". I click OK and the whole process has come to an end with nothing being installed and the winzip window slowly closing down.  
Any help would be much appreciated.

Not sure about Windows 8, but I can't get it to install on Windows 7 either.  Well, that isn't true, it will install, it just won't ever run.  When I start the application, it immediately goes into the unexpected error, Explorer is looking for a solution, then promptly shuts down.
