Blackberry desktop wont open

hi guys i recently downloaded the blackberry desktop software to upgrade my curve 9300 but everytime i try to open it it says "blackberry desktop software has encountered a error and must close. we are sorry for the inconvenience". i tried to download it throuogh the disk that came with my phone, i then tried downloading it again but repairing the programme and still no look
when i opened the error report there was no error message just just info about the software
my pc is quite old and runs on xp so any help will be greatly appreciated,
will you also dumb it down a little for me as i am USELESS with computers lol

Delete the program from the computer and check the box that says all user settings, restart your computer.  Go to
https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/contactFormPreload.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB06...
to download the new version of software.  Make sure to save it first.  Then run it and it should fix it.

  • Why the blackberry desktop wont work on windows8

please can someone please help me

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
There are multiple threads regarding Windows 8 and the Desktop Software...please search and read those to see if your specific issue (whatever it is...you didn't tell us much here) is already addressed and resolved.
Also, refer to the public KB database for potentially useful articles...starting perhaps with this one:
KB32926 Support for BlackBerry Desktop Software on Microsoft Windows 8
If none of that is of use to your situation, then please post back with full details (your exact Windows version, your exact Desktop Software version, exactly what happens, etc. etc. etc.).
    Good luck!

  • My BlackBerry world wont open on my q10, I've done a. Security swipe and nothing helped there anyone

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (step 1 should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRTKB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless networkPlease wait for one "registration" message to arrive2) RebootPre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. IF this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
    Good luck!

  • MP3 on desktop wont open in iTunes or add to library, has done so in past

I've been trying to add two MP3 files that are on my desktop with no luck. If I double click on them, iTunes opens but does not play the music, and the music is not in my library. I've tried adding them to the music folder or selecting "Add to library..." and choosing the file, but nothing seems to work. This used to work fine, I don't know what changed! Any suggestions?

    Dave Sawyer wrote:
The headers on the problem tracks may be corrupted or nonstandard. This can happen with some MP3 conversion or import utilities, and iTunes is very picky about headers.
I noticed this problem occurring when certain third-party utilities (The Tagger, in my case) inadvertently change the actual file's Kind (Finder) from "MP3 Audio File" to no specific file type.
When the MP3 file's Kind is removed (Get Info to check), iTunes will not recognize it - whether by dragging to the library's window or File > Add to Library.
It usually takes a program like Switch to re-export the old mp3 to a new mp3 to reapply the "Kind" to the file's info.
    Just an observation...

  • Iphoto on desktop wont open

    help,
iphoto on my desktop won't open. any ideas?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Blackberry 8120 wont open a lot of webpages yet opens others

    Hi

The blackberry came unlocked so i am using my Virgin Mobile simcard with the phone.
When i access the internet via the browser and select sites such as gmail, facebook & twitter on the log in screens they never open. i always just get the message unable to open site.
I have noticed they often start with Https if this is of any importance. also when i open the browser it automatically opens to the T-Mobile tzones site first. could i change this to something like google?
thank you very much for your help

Do you have a BB data plan?
Not all data plans are the same and the BB data plan is specific to BBs, as many websites require that you connect through the BB servers, which cannot be done without a BB data plan.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Help! Blackberry Desktop Software has encountered a problem and needs to close

I cannot get my Blackberry Desktop to open.  An immediate message is displayed" Blackberry Desktop Software has encountered a problem and needs to close." I have done the following:
    1.  Rebooted
    2. Uninstalled and reinstalled from the website
3,  Uninstalled, gone in to the program files and removed everything I cou;ld find from Research in Motion and then reinstalled from the website and rebooted
Nothing has worked.  My Blackberry Bold 9700 phone is still working just fine but I cannot back it up/
I am not the most technilogically savvy but I'm not bad...Someone please help!.

    I suggest this thread:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-...
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
Also, for XP users, please be sure you are on SP3...that is the current minimum level required with the latest Desktop Software.

  • I imported my iweb site files from my desktop to my laptop and now they wont open up in iweb

    Hi,
I imported my iweb site files from my desktop to my laptop and now they wont open up in iweb.
I can see the files in the home/sites folder but cant seem to be able to replace them with the site that is already in iweb?
I have just upgraded to lion on the macbook pro and was using 10.4.x on the desktop.
Is there any way to replace the files and work on the web site on the MBP?
And I dont see the library/application support/iweb folder anywhere.
    Much appreciate the feedback.
    Thanks

As I said earlier, iWeb does not open/import webpages.
And yes, you need the domain file. The movie demonstrates how to move them to and from the default location.
And the page explains how to open the hidden library folder in Lion. Which is also discussed in the Lion forum and extensively in this one.
