you must upgrade your Blackberry Messenger (BBM) to version 6 (latest version)
you can upgrade it directly from http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/3729
or you can search in your Blackberry Appworld Application with keyword: bbm
and then upgrade (download) the Blackberry Messenger application.
after upgrade complete, you can run Buku Reader Application

Downloading ePub reader for Playbook

We don't use a Blackberry phone. We did, however, buy a Playbook. So if you're in the same position, go ahead and try to buy the ePub reader from this site.
The first step is to install the Blackberry App World plugin, which we've now done on three separate computers and OSs. The second step is to connect your Smartphone, and I presume that's a Blackberry phone. Since we have a Playbook and not a Blackberry phone, we hit a wall. Apparently we're not allowed to buy the app, although I've read that a fair number of Playbook users actually have this app. How did they get it?
Added to this quandary is that I've now read in one of the threads below that ePub reader doesn't work on the Playbook (nor is there a Skype app as shown), and if that's true, it would be quite a blow to the faith we had in Playbook when we bought it in lieu of a Kindle. I'm just thinking ahead here, but there's likely to be an enormous number of upset consumers who fire up Playbooks for the first time on December 25. There might also be a quick abandonment of this product when they see, as we did, that the Playbook is pretty to look at but otherwise fairly disappointing, app-wise.
If anyone has something to offer about these topics, I'd be very grateful.

I paid for and downloaded this app to my playbook. But it never showed up among the apps on my Playbook. When I go to the App World page and look under My World, it shows up like other apps do, but it is no where to be found on the main screen. Anyone know what I may have done wrong, if anything?
The creator's website is of absoutely no help at all.
Now that I paid for this and can't use it, (I can't even find it!!!) any suggestions on how to get refund?

Blackberry Screen Reader, features and functions

Gestures when using the Blackberry Screen Reader indicates that to “Pan or scroll a list” that an audio cue indicates that the scrolling action is complete, and the BlackBerry Screen Reader updates the point of regard so that you can continue reading from the new location.
Swipe up with two fingers to scroll toward the top. Swipe down with two fingers to scroll toward the bottom. This action sets a new point of regard.
Q: Do you first have to set the list as the point of regard to enable scrolling?
Q: Does the size of the Text Chunk have any baring on the scrolling action?

Heading issue with the ePub file on Mozilla browser (add in - Epub Reader)

Hi,
I am not able to get the specified font size of headings in the Mozilla browser (add in - Epub Reader) as compare to Adobe digital edition application. Could someone please help me find the way to get the same heading size for the same EPub file in Mozilla browser (add in - Epub Reader). I would also like to inform you that I created a CSS to generate EPUB from InDesign version 6 file,

EPub Reader Recommendation

I'm looking for an ePub reader with fairly specific requirements. It must be capable of:
reading both PDF and ePub
opening multiple documents in tabs
store documents locally in folders (and sub-folders)
highlighting passages of text
Can anyone make any recommendations please. Many thanks.

hello armstrongthai, extensions that are created for desktop versions of firefox won't run on firefox for android automatically. the developers would have to adapt it for the mobile platform, so you could try approaching them.... unfortunately i don't see any other addons for android that would offer the possibility to display epub files either: https://addons.mozilla.org/android/

Difficult Situation with BlackBerry Screen Reader

Hello,
I have a friend living in Europe where Blackberry Support is very scarce. She is also Visually Impaired so getting information back and forth will be very difficult and but I am hopping that someone here will be able to help.
She has a Blackberry Curve 9360 with the new app Screen Reader.
Her problem is that the app slows the phone down 40 to 50% then without it. It also causes the phone to randomly crash where the only fix is a battery pull.
My question is, Does anyone have any experience with the Screen Reader App? Is this a common Problem? Any Fixes?
Like I said if you have any questions for me to ask, it might take a while for them to be answered.

[BB 9320] Blackberry Screen Reader

Hello. first, sorry for bad english.
i've installed the blackberry screen reader on it, and it is very functional, on calls and messaging.
However, when i go to the phone book or in phone settings, the Screen reader mess up and start to read only half the informations.
if normally, at the first screen, says "operator, time, battery, signal", it now says only the operator.
the only solution is to restart the phone. always. always. always. always. always.
anyone with the same issue?

Sorry to hear you are experiencing an issue with the BlackBerry Screen Reader application.
Does this issue seem to happen only in the Address Book and the Settings?
After the restart does the application work properly upon first usage? If so, how many times of accessing does it work until this happens?
What software version does your Curve 9320 have installed?

EPUB reader

I am looking for an app for an epub reader that can easily highlight text in multiple colors.

Have to suggest a reboot, first.
Then, if you still have the problem, contact the developer. He is very helpful. Some formats are problematic and he can help with those.
Lastly, are the files stripped of DRMs?

Since Mountain Lion, Kitabu won't read any old or new epub files. Can someone help? Is there a compatible Epub reader for mountain lion?

In Addition, I have deleted the old epubs that I had before I upgraded to mountain lion but the epub books still shows in the Kitabu Menu although it will not open them. When I open the books they are all blank.

Verwandle ich das Dateiformat epub in in Kindle-Format .mobil wird der Text ebenfalls nicht korrekt dargestellt. Als Schrifttyp habe ich eine einfache Arial gewählt. Wie lässt sich das Problem vermeiden? Danke

Hallo Willi, vielen Dank noch mal! Es erklärt aber immer noch nicht, warum die einzelnen Wörter ineinander geschoben werden. Zumal ja zum Umwandeln in andere Formate mir bisher nur Calibre bekannt ist. Zumindest erklärt es, warum viele Ebooks sehr einfach gestaltet sind und meißt nur aus Text bestehen. Für hübsche Ebooks mit gestalterischen Ansprüchen ist die Zeit wohl noch nicht gekommen Falls mal jemand ein Ebook für Kindle-Geräte gestaltet so kann ich empfehlen, den Kindle-Comic-Creator zu benutzen und einfach die normal PDF zu importieren, hierbei bleiben alle gestalteten Elemente an der gewünschten Stelle erhalten.

PPub - A light ePub reader made with pygtk

I got my hands on some epub files two days ago but I didn't find any reader I liked so I decided to write my own. And here it is:

Bookmarks are matched with the MD5 hash of each book so they are valid even if you rename or move your books.
In case you have a book that is not working, please extract your epub file like a zip and send me any .opf and .ncx files it has inside. I will do my best to fix the problem then.
So far it's perfectly usable but it could use more features, so please post your ideas here.

It doesn't seem to work at all, at least with the ones I tried. Now, a screen comes up, but it's blank and none of the navigation commands seem to do anything.
Here's an epub I created that has embedded fonts. (The work is public domain.) I made this by hand by hand-writing the XHTML and XML files and hand-zipping them up (in the appropriate way for the epub spec.) It passes epubcheck, so should work:

Here's another one I made, but not by hand, but instead by converting through calibre (another public domain title). This one doesn't have embedded fonts, and doesn't pass epubcheck. (I don't think calibre's ever do, though... still, you'll want to support them.)

When I try to open that one, it says "Error opening file: No such file or directory" in the ppub window.
(I'm actually mostly interested in your viewer to make sure that epubs I make are compatible with it.)
I also tried it with the NET bible epub, with no luck. (No, before you ask, I'm not religious... I just figured that was probably a fairly standard book people will want it to work with.) It has embedded fonts, and passes epubcheck.

Is it just too much to ask to read an Adobe DRM protected epub document in a nice metro-friendly Windows 8 interface (which Adobe Digital Editions most certainly is not)?
I have spent hours today looking for that little Holy Grail The only Windows applications I could find that would open Adobe DRM epubs (in addition to Adobe Digital Editions, of course) was Neosoar and Copia, neither of which qualify as a nice metro-friendly interface. Don't get me wrong, lots of nice Windows epub readers out there e.g. Freda, Kobo, Calibre but they'll be damned if they're going to interface with Adobe DRM!
I've bought the book; I just want to read it without fighting Adobe DRM at every turn. Any light on the horizon?

Issue with emails unread on Blackberry but read in Outlook

Hi guys,
I'm having issues with this Blackberry and the email.
I've setup the Blackberry (Bold 9700) via BIS to link their Exchange email (Exchange 2003). Once the emails are delivered to the Blackberry, on the Outlook 2003, it shows as it has been read.
I've tried turning the wireless reconcilation on and off, turning the cache mode for outlook on and off, but it has fixed the problem. I've noticed alot of people are having the same problem, but no real solution has been provided. Please help. Thanks.
