Blackberry Exchange Client

I am a blackberry user and have been for several years. My Bold is a tool that I couldn't live without.
I have recently changed organisations and have been issued an iPhone for business purposes. When I  asked if I could use my Blackberry they were more than happy to for this to occur but couldn't support email/calendars/contacts etc as they will not implement a BES because the devices they distribute have a built in Exchange client.
I am completely aware of how powerful the BES is and the high level of security it brings to an organisation.
My question is though, would RIM/Blackberry ever consider incorporating an Exchange Client at device level so to help those who don't have a BES. This would obviously run differently to the BES and users would need to be aware that much of the BES features wouldn't exist.
Your response in a timely manner is greatly appreciated.

  • Asha 308 and MS Exchange client

    Hello all,
    Nokia user since birth (or almost), I desperately searched for a dual-sim product... All I could find was the Asha series. So, foolishly, I bought the Asha 308 and now I realised that there is no MS Exchange client and therefore I can't make it syncronize my Outlook's calender and contacts. I'm sooooooooooo mad at myself because of buying a telephone that doesn't serve me in my everyday life.....
    I have searched in Nokia store, but I think that it just doesn't exist for Asha 308. There is nothing that I can do??

    Unfortunately, in this case there's nothing you can do since Mail for Exchange is only compatible with Nokia Asha 303 and 302.

  • Sync Backup Assistant & Blackberry Exchange Server

    I recently purchased a Blackberry and I am using a business Blackberry Exchange Server.  My contacts are now from my Outlook account.  Is it possible to sync the contacts from my old phone with my Outlook Exchange contacts?  I am wondering if this will happen if I perform a Backup Assistant restore on my phone?

    This is possible. But it will not happen when you run the Backup Assistant. When you run your Desktop Manager on your computer you can manage what exactly your phone syncs with such as if you want your contacts from Yahoo or your Outlook. Hope this helps.

    There are some third-party apps that feature handwriting capture, including a couple that have writing-to-text conversion, but I know of no email app that allows handwriting, so you would have to use an app that saves the handwriting as an image and allows that document to be emailed. Search the App Store for "handwriting" and you may find such an app.
    As to restrictions, the only restriction I can think of, assuming the app in question does indeed allow a document to be emailed, would be the size of the attachment vis-a-vis any limited placed on message size by your email provider or that of the recipient.

  • Emails Hard Deleted from Inbox on Outlook 2007 Exchange Client

    I hope to be able to resolve an issue we have been experiencing for the past couple of months. It is only happening to one of many users with similar configurations. All users are on the latest Blackberry Desktop versions, I believe 5.0, the Outlook 2007 is an Exchange 2003 Client on a Windows XP workstation. All versions have the latest service packs installed.
    The affected person went and bought one of these new touch screen Blackberry devices, with Verizon. I don't recall this happening with his previous device.
    All Reconcile options are turned off, auto-archive options, etc. Emails should remain unchanged in Outlook, not opened, not viewed, not deleted, not anything, copies forwarded to the Black Berry Device.
    He will open his outlook client on his PC and find all but one or two days of emails in his inbox, all else hard deleted. When we try to recover they go into the inbox, then immediately get hard deleted again.
    What BB Settings can I check to ensure that hard delete functions in Outlook cannot take place???

  • Blackberry, Exchange 2003 and Macbook - best solution

    I am interested to hear how other people manage in a windows work environment while using a macbook and running a blackbery on a BES server. I have considered bootcamp with windows 7, parallels, fusion etc. Do most pople workin in osx and use parallels or similar to keep outlook open to enable blackbery synch etc, or do people just work exclusively in windows on bootcamp. Ideally, I wouldnt have windows at all, it is just that I cant find a way to have wireless synch of outlook and blackberry with BES server without doing this. I cant be fussed to sit and connect my blackberry to my computer (either by bluetooth or usb) to keep synching the blackberry and macbook. Any suggestions

    It is in sync. All the time. Hence the BES Server.
    The only thing you need to do is setup your macbook email app to access your MS Exchange account on the server.
    Do you not have a desktop computer at work that allows you to view your email? Mimic the settings on your laptop. The sync happens at the email server level - not on local machines.
    If you don't have a desktop computer at work, then you will need to contact your IT Admin and ask him to give you all the login settings and just plug them in to your macbook email application.
    What you do on the laptop will be mirrored on your blackberry and vice versa.
    As a technical note: Your blackberry is not the sync agent. The BES Server is. And BES doesn't maintain your email either. Its MS Exchange. BES only acts as a "middle-man" between your email server and the handhelds.

    I'm not looking for Outlook client versions but other client versions connected to exchange 2007.   Know of a complete list of client versions for Exchange 2007?
    These are some versions in question.  system mailboxes and a couple users display http.

    "6.0.8244.0" is Outlook 2000.
    The other two may be the CAS server(s).
    If you're looking for a more accurate picture of client versions you may have to rely on ExMon.
    If this were Exchange 2010 I'd refer you to the RPC access logs.

  • Apple Mail as Exchange client - unable to jump to replies

    Our office is (trying to) use Apple Mail v4.3 as client toExchange Svr 2010. Amongst a host of other odd behavior (I'm starting to think that Apple should stop touting Exchange interoperability as a feature, because it really ISN'T ready for primetime), we're finding that when a user tries to jump to a reply they've sent by clicking the reply indicator (the swirly arrow), they get an error:
    Mail was unable to find your reply to the message "<subject>". You may have deleted the message.
    The message is, in fact, in their Sent mailbox; it just seems that the link to it is broken. Can anybody else verify this behavior for me and/or have any suggestions for how to fix it?

    This would point to an issue with indexing, and would hopefully be resolved by removing the account and setting it up again, or by forcing reindexing via the following:

    Note that with IMAP or Exchange accounts, there is the special treatment requiring removal of the account folders. Have you ever removed the Envelope Index without removing the account folders, by any chance?
    After you do this, you should again test.

  • Secure exchange client for iPhone

    Hi All,
    Our company is about to go from Lotus Notes to Exchange and I'm looking for a mail client for the iPhone/iPad that fulfills the following crieria:
    1) Needs to be able to be wiped remotely
    2) Read-Only access for attachments
    3) Receive emails via Push
    We will use Touchdown (Nitrodesk) for Android devices, but noticed that it does not Push on iDevices.
    Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

    The mail app should suffice, though I'm confused as to what you mean when you say "Read-Only access for attachments".  That's not a feature of Exchange, much less a client for Exchange...

  • Is there a viable Microsoft Exchange client for linux

    I can't find anything simple to use that does not require changing the server ( which I can't ...)

    I used Evolution a couple of years ago and I didn't find it too buggy. It wasn't perfect, but overall it worked quite well. Exchange webmail must be enabled for Evolution to work.
    Right now I use Thunderbird with IMAP and it's been working perfectly. I have a Blackberry so I can accept appointments and use the Blackberry calendar. Lack of calendar is the major drawback of using IMAP. If webmail is enabled you can use the web interface for calendar stuff.

  • 8330 curve from us cellular keeps freezing up, on my 2nd blackberry exchange

    I cannot find an answer for a fix on this error: Uncaught Exception: Application net_rim_bb_messaging_app(133) is not responding; process terminated.
    Is this like a family secret?  US cellular doesn't have any idea wtf the matter with it is, I haven't seen any posts for an answer on these forums, despite the many exhortations for help with this problem.  BB won't do anything but suggest a BB exchange but I can only do three of those.  I paid good money for this phone and it pisses me off that in the 21st century we can't get what is stupid computer to work right, two of them, brand new at that!!
    Whenever I push the SMS icon to check my text messages the effen thing freezes up, on both of the bb's I have had.  Don"t know why, it just does.  I have three third party apps, facebook, USAA, and myspace and over 50MGM of space on the phone.  I have heard you can uninstall and reinstall the OS on the phone, but haven't seen any really clear layman's directions on this.  This problem has happened on three phones in the last month.  Somebody help me pls.

    pretty much every Uncaught Exception error is an appload
    you will need DTM and your 8330 or 8330m device softwareinstalled to your PC (to find out whether you are an 8330 or 8330m, goto options-about... first line will tell you)
    use DTM to perform a backup
    then you go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
    pull your battery and media card... leave them out
    open loader.exe and go through the wizard, whn its done you will get some sort of multistage error
    close wizard
    put battery in and wait for an error (507)
    run loader.exe again and complete the wizard again
    after you are done go through the setup wizard
    do not restore your backup, media card or 3rd party apps
    test it for awhile and see if you still have the same problem
    if no error, restore your backup and test for awhile
    if no error, insert your media card and test for awhile
    if no error, restore  facebook and myspace(since they are made by rim) and test for awhile
    if no error restore any other 3rd party apps and test again
    keep us posted

  • Ghost emails in iPhone Exchange client

    For some reason occasionally when I delete an email while working on the iPhone they get deleted from the Exchange server but not from the phone itself. Subsequently when I try to delete them from the phone I get a message stating that they can not be moved which leaves me with "ghost" emails on the phone that do not appear in Outlook. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of these pesky buggers? They are starting to pile up...

    Thanks - yea my phone is on the latest release of the OS but I have no idea what the version or patch level of the Exchange servers are since they are managed by the IT group. They keep everything pretty up to date though so I'd assume that they are on the latest release.
    It appears as if the only solution here is to completely delete the email account and then create it anew and let it download from the server thereby deleting these ghost emails. Seems like there ought to be a better solution though... Apple???

    We can move the mailbox from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 as a linked mailbox in Exchange 2010. The moved mailbox would be a disabled User Object which is linked to a separate enabled user object in an Account Forest (Exchange 2003 forest).
    We can use the Prepare-MoveRequest.ps1 script in the Shell to prepare the cross-forest mailbox moves:

    BlackBerry Connect client version is dependent of the device sw version.
    If the device sw is updated the BlackBerry Connect client needs to be also updated to the compatible version.
    This needs to be done due to RIM approvals for each new device sw - client combinations.

      Even on my E5 have the problem of signal loss by touching with the hand on the back. Brought into service twice. I ask Nokia, like the E71, a software update to correct the problem.

    At first I thought it was junk mail, but them the words "Purchase Receipt" caught my eye.
    I opened the email and there was this legit looking receipt. I checked my account and no money came out.
