Blackberry Flip 8220 Other languages

Hi,
i have a Perl Flip 8220, i would like to add german language to my new phone.
How can i do this? Right now i have English, US English an Spanish.
Any idea?
Cheers

Hi Sc0tty,
Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
The only supported way to add languages to your BlackBerry is from the device software available from your wireless provider. If German language support is not available in this software, I would advise contacting your provider for more information. Here's how to install any available language packs. http://bit.ly/aGmRyA

  • Blackberry Flip 8220 major issue

    Hey,
I received this as a present sim free 6 months ago, phone has been fine up until now where it is cutting off and resetting itself after every phone call that lasts around 5 min mark.
Can anyone please advise how I can resolve this issue??
    Kind regards,

OK...then the next step is to check if your device has an OS update available from your carrier. If you are already using DTM, then it should be checking for you and offerring updates. Otherwise, you can check your carriers update site via this portal:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
Or use the RIM update portal:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/update/
It is usually best to use the update from your carrier -- so if they have an update for you, it would be a good idea to update. Be sure to use the desktop software to do a backup beforehand so that you can restore afterwards.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Design flaw in blackberry pearl 8220 audio (voice) - does every phone shipped have this problem?

    Hi,
have a new blackberry 8820 pearl that I am happy with.
The phone does have one big problem.  hearing a person over the phone (i.e.. The top speaker embedded in the flip not the microphone in the phone case proper).
When someone raises their voice a little during conversation the phone distorts the incoming audio (it makes a tinny sound like when a speaker distorts when it is overloaded and yes I am using default volume and have tried it on all volume levels... The phone speaker still distorts incoming voice).
Also called a few numbers and got several people's voicemail announcement... Because people raise their voice just a little bit when they put in their voice mail announcement the phone always distorts the voicemail greeting.
Moved my sim card to a Motorola razor v8.  everything is crystal clear hearing and speaking.  your blackberry pearl flip has a hardware or firmware design flaw... It distorts incoming conversation based on how the person is speaking not just when they are talking with a strong clear voice... But when the incoming speech volume is raised slightly!.
I asked tmobile to send me a new phone.  they did and the new phone does the same thing (i.e.. The handset speaker).  the speaker phone function works just fine and does not distort conversation.
Is this a problem with a certain production run on the phone or does it happen with every blackberry pearl flip 8220?
since the Motorola razor works fine under the same conditions with <no> distortion figured it may be design flaw going to production on the phone. But thought I would ask anyway.. In case this problem has been solved by development in-house.
Please pass this message to engineering and the product line manager responsible for the blackberry flip 8220.  I know if I was a product manager I wouldn't want to go to market with a phone that distorts audio.  you guys should have checked the competition (Motorola and other windows CE phones to make sure the audio on the blackberry pearl is as good or better than the competition).
Hope this helps.  please pass this forward and see what engineering and product management says.  if its a general design flaw it would be good to know.  just wanted my new blackberry (which I like) to work just as good as my Motorola razor.  both are good phones but the audio handset speaker distortion is somewhat of a pain.
    Thank you,
    mark bramblett

  • Unlocked T-Mobile Blackberry 8220 Flip and other Network Providers

    Hello Everyone,
Just bought an unlocked t-mobile blackberry pearl 8220 flip phone and wondering if there will be any issues with my service provider in regards to mms, gprs or BIS? Currently have a sim with mms and gprs access for my Sony Ericsson T306, i know these t-mobile branded phones have imbedded apps for t-mobile like tzones etc and you can't really get gprs access whether provisioning it manually or automatically from service provider. Does anyone had any issues or solutions can help me out.

Probably.  I don't see that you have stated your carrier, so it could vary.
You should be ok, but in most cases, on a BlackBerry, a MMS Transport service book is required for MMS messages to carry the 'data' portion of the MMS message. Realizing that MMS is nothing more than an SMS text message with a file, or data, attached, the carrier pushes a service book to your device which enables the data portion of the SMS.

  • Pearl Flip 8220 - unable to reload OS

    Dear all,
I am using a Pearl Flip 8220 (T-Mobile unlocked version) in INDIA.
Recently I gave the handset for OS reloading as I was getting a 'Call Failed' message frequently. None of the repair shops could resolve the issue & hence I decided to wipe the existing OS (on my own) and reload the latest one by downloading it from BB website for my carrier (Airtel). I wiped the existing OS using BBSAK and tried loading the OS.
But since then I have been facing issues and not able to do it. While trying to load the OS, the handset restarts automatically, for some reason, and the loading ends abruptly. I have observed that this happens while the applicaion tries to load 'net_rim_cldc.cod'.
I would be extremely grateful if somebody has come across the scenario and can help me resolve it. Am not very familiar with the installation, but did go through a few suggestions given by a members on CrackBerry & other forums.

    Hi Sharan,
Try just following the steps here:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Device-software-for-BlackBerry/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-S...
If you still have problems, it may be necessary to reload the JVM on the device as well. To do that, go to the Start button on your computer and in the search box, type "cmd" (without the quotation marks). This will open the DOS command box. Type the following exactly as written below:
    cd c:\program files (x86)\common files\research in motion\apploader\
Press enter (note, if your computer runs a 32-bit version of Windows, do not include the (x86) part, so instead type "cd c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader", minus the quotation marks and press enter).
    Next, type:
    Loader.exe /nojvm
Press enter again. This will now open the Loader file in a way that will also reload the java virtual manager on the device, which should help.
If that still doesn't work, let us know. Good luck!

  • Is the display on Pearl Flip 8220 sharper that the one on my 8310?

Does anyone know why the display on a Pearl Flip 8220 seems sharper than the one on my 8310?  Is it the 4.6 OS or the actual display?

  • Pearl Flip 8220

    Hi All,
I just bought a Pearl Flip 8220. Received it two days ago and have been using it as a normal phone while waiting to register with my service provider. This morning for no apparent reason the phone blanked out and all I can get now is the red LED indicator light intermittent with the white background and (wait- loading) clock. I have tried taking the battery out and replacing to reset but to no avail. Any ideas?

Welcme to the cmmunity supprt frums
I would probably have them send me another one. Sounds like you may need to reload the OS.  It is something that can be done but if it is a new phone, I would want a new replacement.
Thats just me....  others will be here to give you direction as well! Glad you are here! Enjoy your stay ... and most of all enjoy that BlackBerry

  • Do the FLip 8220 work with swedish sim card?

I recentley bought a new unlocked (used to be T mobile) balckberry flip 8220. It wont recognice my swedish sim card. Must the sim card support edge? Cause my carrier do not have edge, just GPRS and 3G.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Is the 8220 device unlocked for other carriers (other than Tmobile)?
To determine if your BlackBerry is "unlocked" for use on carriers other than for which it is branded:
    1. On your BlackBerry, go to Options > Advanced Options > Sim Card.
    2. At that screen type MEPD (see note below) on your keyboard. A new menu will pop up.
    * If your BlackBerry has a SureType keyboard (71xx and 81xx devices) you will need to double-tap the P, so the actual keys entered become M E P P D.
    3. Look for Network in the list.
    4. If your device is "unlocked", it should say Disabled or Inactive. If it says Active, it's still locked to that carrier.

  • Sync cable for BlackBerry Flip 8230

I recently bought a Blackberry Flip 8230 to replace my (lost) Blackberry 8130.  I tried to synch it tonight with the old cord for my other Blackberry but it did not fit.  I can't remember if a synch cord comes with the phone or is it something I have to purchase separately??
A second related question - is there any way to actually see and edit my addressees (on Outlook or Excel or Word or some other program) on my computer?  If I get another type of phone (like an Iphone) is there anyway to transfer the information on my Blackberry to a usable form on my computer so I could transfer it to my Iphone?
Please let me know if you have any information on either/both of these questions.
    Thanks!!

There should have been a USB cable with it and Desktop Manager on a CD to sync with outlook.

  • Blackberry flip Verizon services

I got a Verizon account about 5 months ago I had to pay a deposit and I NEVER got any type of choice of phones, the phone that they gave to me does not work I traded it in a number of times and each time the phone works less and less I would like to have a choice of the phone that I use as it is the only phone that I use and It should at least work for me. I find this totally unfair and would like to know what I can do about it so I can get a hold of my dry and my children as I am expecting my first grandchild soon and I am diabetic and have to get in touch with my dry often! Thank you .

I traded it in a number of times and each time the phone works less and less I would like to have a choice of the phone that I use   Again, you have a choice when opeing an account, and you have 30 days to exchange the phone for another if it is not working out as expected, or return the phone entirely and try another carrier.  After 5 months, you don't have a lot of options - what exactly isn't working?  If it's manufacturer's defects, it will be replaced under warranty (sounds like this may have happened)
as it is the only phone that I use and It should at least work for me. Of course, we all pay for cell phone service and expect it to work, regardless of our circumstances.  Your post doesn't address what about your phone, specifically, doesn't work - no or low signal?  Unable to hear well?  Not receiving calls?  Unable to make calls?
You posted this in the Blackberry forum with a Blackberry flip in the title, so I am assuming you own a Blackberry - there is a certain amount of (daily) maintenance that goes along with owning a blackberry to keep it running efficiently,, like battery pull to clear memory, closing and exiting apps when not in use, etc.
With a little more information, perhaps someone here can better answer your issues.

  • Ability to use other languages while typing

Owner of bold 9930. Would like to add other languages (Greek, Turkish) to the blackberry. Unfortunately they don't come as default and I want to use them when I communicate with other people in their native language.
How can I Accomplish that?  Thank you

  • JSAPI - other languages than English; MIDlet - settings loading; JSAPI - al

    Hello!
I need to create application which uses speech recognition. At first I thought about using CMU Sphinx (PocketSphinx or, possibly, Sphinx4). Later I thought about JSAPI. (Sphinx somehow uses JSAPI but I don't know what is the difference between JSAPI and Sphinx).
I have read almost all (up to 6.7.9) of the following tutorial: http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/speech/forDevelopers/jsapi-guide.pdf. Unfortunately I couldn't've found one important thing, i.e. how to create acoustic model for other language than English?
Thanks in advance for your answers :-)!
PS There are some other things which I'd like to know:
    1) How to load some settings from file (I guess nowadays configuration files are created with the use of XML but I dunno)?
    2) How to maintain algorithm which is used by MIDlet which involves JSAPI? I mean there are some different things which my MIDlet needs to do. I guess it is good habit to divide different goals into separate parts of code (due to object-oriented programming).
In my case there are some different things:
         a) speech recognition of audio input, i.e. changing input audio stream into output text string
         b) analysis of that text string and according to this string choosing the proper transition in my algorithm
In general I have written my algorithm on sheet of paper and it takes about ten A4 sheets of paper. Because of it I thought there should be some way to write this algoritm maybe outside the code, in some kind of file which would contain this algorithm. Maybe there is other good way to implement this algorithm, not necesarilly in the code.
         c) sending of results through httpconnection with the use of POST method
         d) receiving in on TomCat on server
    3) Which method should I use to receive the recognized speech? I found these:
         a) FinalRuleResult, b) Result -> getBestToken, c) getSpokenText, d) ResultToken of RuleGrammar
    4) Can you give me any full examples of JSAPI usage? (Not just short parts of code like in this JSAPI guide)?
    Greetins :-)!

Praveen, Yes the infoobject is language dependent.  The problem did not happen in BWQ but came up in BWP.  so I am not sure at this time what is causing in production that didn't happen in BWQ.
    Thanks,
    Syed.

  • B2Bconsole in any other languages than English?

Does anyone know if there is a civilised way to localize the B2Bconsole GUI, to display in any other language than English?
I have found no documentation nor settings, and not sure if there is any way to do it (except for decompiling the orignal one, or writing you own console...).
    thanks,
