Blackberry ID? What is it?

Having recently updated to software v 2.0 I am constantly asked (every few seconds!!!) to "sign in with your Blackberry ID".
I am asked for my Blackberry ID Username and Blackberry ID Password, neither of which I know.
I was never asked for them with the old software, and don't recall having to do this when I first set up the playbook.
The username is filled in with one of my email addresses. It won't accept the password I use with this email address and when I tap "forgot password" it tells me there is a Network/Connection error even though I am able to load web pages without a problem.
How can I overcome this?

Hi dickbird, sorry to see you go through so much trouble.
I would call tech support which is free for 90 days from purchase.
I have had great luck with support.

  • [Blackberry 8100] What are the best pic sizes for the blackberry?

Hi, I am the proud owner of a new blackberry 8100 and I have a few questions.
When I upload an image of 600x450 pixels to the media card, They display well, but when using the Zoom feature, the image starts to get blurry.  Now with a 600x450pixel image, I think the size would be large enough to get a closer zoom without the blurriness effect, but i'm a new user so I'm not really sure if I need a larger pixel image, or if I'm over-estimating the blackberry's Zoom feature and thinking it's a Zoom feature like Adobe's Photoshop. So what's the best recommendation for image sizes to be uploaded to the blackberry?
Also one more question regarding the desktop Manager. I have Version 4.6.0.12  and when trying to access the Media Manger, the "Start" button is faded out, so I cannot access it.  Why is this option not available when the blackberry is plugged in as a Mass Storage device?

The 8100 screen is 240x260 pixels.  Zooming in on the pic doesn't ever do the pic justice.
Are you sure that Media Manager is installed?  Some installs of Desktop Manager don't include Media Manager.  If it's indeed installed, does it work if you turn off mass storage mode?

  • Faulty In-Warranty Blackberry 9300 - What do we do?

Hi, I am new to the forum so forgiv me if there is an obvious answer to this.
We have a faulty Blackberry 9300 that we purchased in early December 2010.
There is bad distortion, keeps call failing and freezing.
The supplier that we purchased it from will not take it back as is beyond their 30-day purchase period and we are now stuck with what we can do.
Can anyone please let us know what we can do or where we can send it as should still be under manufacturer warranty?
    Thanks.

    Hi
Sorry to hear of your difficulty.
The Blackberry is designed to be reset by removing the battery whilst the device is powered-on. Leave the battery out for a minute or 2.
See if that resolves the problem.
If not, then more information will be needed before making suggestions. Please provide as much as you are able of the the following
    Blackberry Model.
    Carrier Name.
Do you have a Data Plan?
Operating System Version go to Menu > Options > About - it looks like v5.0.0.681
Memory for Device and SD Card Options > Memory
    Any error statement or code.
The Exact nature of problem - the more info the better.
When this started and whether it started just after an update or new App download and which App/s theme/s download.

  • My iPad 2 connection unsucessful blackberry 9700, what do I do?

I cannot connect with my Blackberry even if both device are paired. I always get the message connection unsuccessful. Does anyone know how to fixe the problem?

What are you trying to do by pairing the two? You're trying to sync two different brand manufacturers and operating systems and trying to get something out of it, maybe I just don't understand what you're saying.

  • Debating whether to get a new blackberry... common Torch issues? what happens to support/warranty if RIM goes under?

Hi, thinking of getting a new Blackberry but I'm a bit nervous of buying into a potentially buggy phone with all the rumours of RIM going belly up.
What have been the most typical issues with Torch, especially the newer models?
I know with my Curve, as much as I've loved it, it is only a year old and has had problems with randomly rejecting its SIM card (new SIM card = $$$ and pain in the butt to have to go visit the store etc.), track pad stops working at times, keyboard backlight stops working at times (usually when I'm in the dark of course), and now the display is hooped.  So, maybe that extended warranty would have been worth it but since I still have to pay out the remainder of my contract on that phone before I can get new, I'm thinking that diving into another Blackberry adventure could be problematic even WITH extended warranty if support will no longer be available for it?
On the other hand, I DON'T like the layout of iphone, and I found Blackberry to be pretty intuitive to learn and use comfortably, plus the price is right on my phone plan at the moment.  IF ongoing support is going to be available, I would prefer to stick it out with Blackberry.
What is the latest on RIM and what is proposed in terms of warranty on new phones?

  • Wifi Not Working on my blackberry 9780

Even though my phone is connected to my home network wifi, whenever i try to open a webpage a message occurs "Unable to connect to the internet please try again later". My wifi is working perfectly well on my other devices and when i use my mobile data, the internet works fine. This problem only occurs when i try to use internet through wifi on my blackberry. What to do?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRTKB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless networkPlease wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app2) Resend Service BooksKB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet ServicePlease wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.3) RebootWith power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then please try other WiFi networks, just to conduct a complete test. If those work, then there is something about your local WiFi that is not properly configured to your BB device. If none work, then the logical thing for you to do will be an OS reload. But let's wait for the results of your tests before we go there.
    Good luck!

  • Workflow on Blackberry

    Hi All,
I know this topic is already discussed many times before also but while going through the solutions and discussions I was not able to understand many facts.
First of all I am looking for a 2 way communication between SAP workflow and Blackberry. I am not looking for any 3rd party solution (e.g SKY Tech or 3I soluitions).
What is the minimum requirement for SAP workflow to get executed on blackberry?
what needs to send the Work Item (Decision Step) to workflow?
How to read back the reply?
Any suggestions or inputs are welcome.
    Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
please note this is a bespoke application to meet some very demanding requirements - including that some users do not necessarily have network connectivity to the backend SAP systems. There are many other solutions around but most require direct SAP connectivity or some sort of middleware.
The simplest way to describe it is as a workflow email handler. Workitems generate a rich email that provides the user with all the details required to make their decision. To execute a decision the user simply clicks a link in the email that addresses a reply email containing the chosen decision. The user then sends the email which is received by the application that then executes the decision on behalf of the user. Any errors are transmitted to the user by email.
The application has been built to work with ERP backends from 4.6B through to ECC6.
    Cheers
    Graham Robbo

  • Computer cannot communicate with Blackberry

I'm trying to use Blackberry Link to transfrer the Contacts currently on my Blackberry to my Sony Vaio computer. However, when I try to access the tab for my Blackberry Q10 within Blackberry Link, I get a message indicating that it "Cannot Communicate with Device". It offers me two options: to try Reconnecting -- which doesn't work -- or Reloading. However, if I choose Reload, it says that it will restore the factory settings. Elsewhere, it says that if I restore the factory settings, I will lose all my data -- which, of course, would defeat the original purpose of being able to transfer the data related to my Contacts to my computer. So what can I do?

Currently, when I attach the Blackberry to the computer via USB cable, the computer seems to recognize the Blackberry, at least in terms of emiting a sound that would normally signal a new connection. However, that seems to be about it. I can't seem to make other connections -- other than that, in Windows Explorer, I can see what appears to be a connection to the Blackberry. There's Drive C and then the Blackberry (as what apears to be a separate drive, like any USB-connected device).
However, when you click on that drive, you get a message saying that it's empty. In addition, you can also elsewhere see the Blackberry listed under "PC Settings/Devices" beside the message "RIM Network Device -- Driver Error").
Previously -- a few days ago? -- I could see the Blackberry and transfer files back-and-forth between the computer and the Blackberry (usually via copy and paste).

  • Blackberry 8520, should it be this hard????

    Hi there,
Im new to the old blackberry thing but nothing seams to work for it, i can register on the blackberry internet service for my emails, it wont let me do anything with blackberry apps world, just reckons i have on connection (funny i can surf the net??). Blackberry support doesnt exist, and oh yeah i run ubuntu (linux) which isnt supported by the blackberry website what a joke! Yet to try and contact blackberry is impossible.
To be honest i was so so happy to be given this phone now im ready to take it back and use my sony erricson.

Device support is the responsibility of your service provider. Their technical support crew has been trained for that purpose. This is also why some providers take so long to release OS upgrades, because they need to train their techs to be able to answer questions about the OS before giving it out to the masses.
If you are only having an issue with the App world, then you have one issue and not several. The end-users willing to volunteer time and knowledge here on this forums will most likely be able to help you fix this issue. Or direct you to a topic where you can find the answer.
As far as not supporting Linux, that's a problem with many, MANY programs. Hence why most Linux users run Wine or something of the sort just to provide compatibility with key programs that aren't available on the Linux platform. As a programmer, I understand where you are coming from here.
If you want some assistance regarding your issue with the AppWorld, by all means provide us with some details and we can go from there.
Disclaimer: I'm just a regular user like the rest of you. I have spent a lot of time learning the limitations of the Blackberries to know how to fix most problems. If I have suggested a fix, please give a kudo and mark as a solution!

Good plan. But why on the TM drive? I'd use the SL drive.
You'll need to download Lion installer on your SL. Then, do a clean install of Lion on your internal, and migrate your stuff from SL in Setup Asistant.
